I had my mastectomy on my birthday, Pawpatrolmom , made it very easy to remember! My entire surgical team, including surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologist, everyone, sang Happy Birthday to me as they wheeled me in and I went under!😂 Most memorable birthday party I ever had!😄

CaliKelly-I definitely won’t forget this day for sure, lol

Johnsmom68-Are you having BMX too? Sending positive vibes your way.

Today was a hard day for me...I finished chemo on Monday (yaaaay) but now mentally preparing for surgery is like womp, womp! I met with the surgeon today and I was taken by surprise by how long it would be for the procedure. I knew it was long but I didn’t really think it would be like 7 hours! I started crying all of a sudden in the office. I’m definitely a worry Nelly so I just started thinking about a lot or in particular my son. I just want to be ok for him. I’ll give myself the night but in the morning I have to get back to what has gotten me this far, my faith.

PawPatrolMom-Congratulations on being finished with chemo!! Wow! Seven hours is a long time, and I didn’t think it would be that long! I can see why you would be scared. I meet with the plastic surgeon on Wednesday so I’ll be prepared now for that info!

CaliKelly-Im glad they made your surgery special for your birthday!

    Welcome Johnsmom!

Im a stage2b Insitu dcis w 1 node involved. I had a DBL mastectomy 1 yr ago. I've tried tanmoxifin, letrozole now I'm on exemstane. I'm hoping this is going to be the one. I'm 45 and have to get a shot every month to keep my post menopausal status. I'm quite bitter about the entire thing.. what I want is to start a group in Omaha NE for women who are taking these types of drugs and create a support group for us and others. If anyone has any ideas or any positive feedback for me I am open to it..thank so much..

I am having a lateral skin and nipple sparing mastectomy left side. Dec 23rd is my 5 year cancerversary. Thanks for the good vibes and the welcome.

I tend to worry too. I am having diep flap so the surgery is long. To keep from worrying I use a trick my mother taught me. When I start to worry I postpone it. I just say I will think about it later and set it aside. It helps me.

    Welcome Jennifer and Wigging!

Jennifer-There are women from all over the world on here, so hopefully you can connect with some from Omaha. I would suggest you start a new thread that specifically mentions wanting to connect. More people willing see it that way. Also, when is your surgery so I can add you to the roll call?

Wigging-Yes of course you can be on here with us Decembers. Make sure you read the November surgery thread so you know what to expect! And yes, we will want to hear how it goes for you!!

Johnsmom-I like your quote about putting it aside. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Misha, Wigging, JohnsMom, Nomoresideeffect 🙂 My surgery date is December 11th. I am having lateral intercostal atrery perforator flap lumpectomy on my right. They have to take my nipple which I am sad about.

Wigging it looks like we have close to the same diagnosis and were diagnosed right around the same time.

All of this is so surreal sometimes I can’t believe it.

Thanks for the welcome! I have been reading the November group as well. Maybe I’ll join both.

HPFULL...yes. Surreal is exactly where I’m at right now. All the holiday stuff popping up everywhere and all I can do is think about how my life is forever changed, and it hasn’t even really all begun yet...

Sorry for gloom and doom, I am actually a really positive and hopeful person, even after my diagnosis. Just having holiday blues I think!

Holiday blues are definitely in the air right now. I’m so glad I’m almost done, as the surgery is nearing the end of my treatment, but I can’t deny that this Christmas is not going to be what I want it to be!

I’m usually positive as well and am working on accepting my current reality!

    Misha,

Yes...you have gotten through so much already with chemo. I don't yet know if that'll be in my plan. I just noticed that you and I are almost the same age...I'm 45. Surgery is scary but definitely will be a relief for me...I'm sure so much more so for you! Hugs!

wigging no apologizes🙂 for doom and gloom. It’s nice that we can vent and have people that understand

Misha I am glad you are almost done with chemo? Or did you finish? You probably just want to get on with the surgery

All the waiting seems to be the hardest. I am going back to my PS tomorrow but taking someone with me. I really don the care for him but I just want you to get the surgery over wit. I am having something called a LICAP lumpectomy. They are taking tissue from under my arm and back and pushing it through to fill in my breast. I guess they have to take the nipple because the cancer attached.

Some moments I am fine because I momentarily forget other moments I am so sad and sometime I just want to scream. I guess that is doom and gloom 😂

I hope you all have a Nice Thanksgiving

Wigging-Yes we are almost the same age! Seems way too young to be dealing with cancer! If you have to have chemo, know that it sucks, but it’s doable! Let me know if you find out that’s part of your plan and if you have any questions!

HPFULL-I have ONE more chemo to go! Monday will be my last! The good thing about having the chemo first is that I’ve had 4 months to come to terms with all this. I’m scared for the surgery, but for me it means the cancer will finally be gone! It has been hard knowing there is cancer in my body when I just want it out. I’ve had a really good response to chemo though, so I’m hopeful it is already gone. They did an ultrasound a few weeks ago, and had a hard time finding the cancer at all!

Your surgery sounds cool! I like the idea of using your own tissue! I meet my ps tomorrow so I’ll learn more about mine.

    Happy Thanksgiving ladies!!

Misha that is awesome that you are almost done with chemo🙌🙏. I won’t know until

After the surgery if I need chemo or not.

I had my pre-op appointment today. They had me sign a bunch of forms saying this surgeon might not be on my insurance.... not sure why they can’t say. I guess he is half on my insurance. Today is just a hard day it’s so hard to Concentrate at work. I just want to go home and get in bed lol. This too shall pas

I signed my consents for surgery today and had a bit of pre-surgical teaching right before my MRI guided biopsy today (they are looking at suspicious things on the opposite side of my cancer side). The anesthesiologist nurse called and did my pre-surgery screening as well. The good thing is, I don't need a pre-op appointment other than the injections the day before to find the sentinel nodes. Because I'm so healthy and all. Hahahaha I have cancer I said, I'm not healthy! Anyway, it made it feel very real. T minus 10 days!

I absolutely love my care team. Feeling a little less gloomy...I guess Xanax will do that for you (taken before my MRI today)

HPFULL, I have been having a real hard time concentrating on work too. Doctors offices seem to be calling all the darn time which makes it hard to stop thinking about cancer. I hope everything works out with your insurance and the one doctor. The financial side of this whole situation just makes my head spin. Hugs to you.

Well, I met my PS today! Signed that form about insurance too! I’m having mine later than I had thought, which is fine, the day after Christmas!

Also, according to the BS, my procedure will be a skin and nipple sparing BMX! I’m super excited to think I may get to keep most of my skin and nipples! That may change depending on what they find when they go in though!

that’s awesome news Misha that you willl get to keep some of your skin and nipples 🙌

Maybe the PS have everyone sign that form? It’s good to know that it’s maybe common?

Wigging I asked if they could give me a Xanax before they put the wire in prior to surgery. They said no 😂😢.

I think a bunch of us are the same age? I am 45. I was diagnosed 2 months after my 45 Birthday.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Big hugs to all of you

I'm 83 years old and having a mastectomy on December 4. I am Estrogen Positive, Progesteron Positive and HER2 Negative. Just beginning to learn the terms and meanings of breast cancer. I feel rather apprehensive, but positive about the upcoming surgery right now. I'm sure I'll have questions as I learn more about this.

Lynn-Welcome and let us know if you have questions! Make sure you check out this site! There is a lot of helpful information!

Colleen-Welcome also, and I am just finishing up chemo, so you can ask me about it if you would like.

HPFULL-You are right! I am 44, turn 45 in March! I always feel so young at the chemo center, so it’s strange to have three of us the same age here!

    Hello everyone

I will be having my 3rd surgery December 27. My UMX was on April 6 and then had exchange surgery with fat grafting on September 20 with a reduction and lift to my left natural breast also. Now it’s time for Nipple reconstruction on my right breast implant and also more fat grafting around the implant. It sure has been a long year and hoping that I’m happy with the results of this next surgery because I’m really ready to get life back to normal. I’ve been out of work of course for each surgery and I feel like all I do is play catch up when I go back to work and then it’s time to go out again for another surgery. Good luck to everyone
