Hi Gramto4🙂 That is a lot of surgeries in a year. I pray this will be your last and you can get back to normal. I am supposed to have right nipple reconstruction with more procedure “if possible”. Guess I will know when I wake up from surgery if it was possible. Hugs

    PawTrolMom:

Mine was about 6 hours. I missed all of them :-) In fact I missed two more hours in the recovery room on top of that.

They wheeled me in to the operating room, told me to take a deep breath, and then I was being asked a bunch of questions in the recovery room while I was trying to sleep. Then I was in my hospital room and it was dinner time.

Checking in- my bmx is in 3 days, it’s getting real. I have my nuclear medicine appt on Thursday to get the dye shot into my breast for the sentinel node biopsy (wow this sounds like just a whole lot of fun). Still don’t know the time of my surgery but should find out tomorrow.

My brain feels like Swiss cheese. I’m scared but also ready to just do this. Hugs to everyone here.

@WC3-Haha, love your post 😛!Everyone keeps telling me the worst part are for my loved ones because they are awake and waiting. I know everyone is right and I need to chill. Easier said than done. I wish I could just have my surgery now because the waiting is driving me nuts!

was thinking about you today wigging because I know your surgery is coming up soon🙏 That is interesting that you get your dye the day before. They are doing mine right before the surgery but not when I am under. I wish I was under for that part too. I can imagine the Swiss cheese brain. I am still two weeks out and can hardly concentrate. Hugs to you.

Wigging-Yes I was thinking of you as well and as you are our first here! I can only imagine how you must be feeling! I am still stuck in the chemo effects. Let us know how the nuclear appt goes!

PawPatrolMom-Yep I think it probably will be harder on the family as they wait! I just want to be loopy and not in pain after! Lol

HPFULL-Thank you! I don’t love that pic, but I do love what it stands for! I go for hydration on Friday so that will be my last official time spent in the chair! Oh and the last use of my port-thank God!

hello all! Less than 12 hours to go now. I'm ready to get this party started! I feel strangely calm. Planning to wash in the pre-surgical antibacterial soap, watch some TV and attempt to sleep.

Nuclear medicine wasn't fun but went very smoothly and I was in and out of there in 10 minutes! They really knew what they were doing, explained the procedure well, and the ouch only lasted 30 seconds or so.

My arrival time is 5:30 am...first case of the day! My doctor friends tell me that's good!

    Hey all...

Just wanted to come in on this thread. I am booked for my surgery on December 13... This is my third kick at the can for dealing with recurrent DCIS. I did a skin sparing mastectomy and tram flap reconstruction in July 2015, followed by a lumpectomy and radiation in October 2017 (rads ended in February 2018)... Nevertheless, found another lump below my scar in August and we are removing more DCIS.

I will be doing a TUG flap recon this time and we are taking most of the skin that was left behind. Much of the volume from my TRAM flap is not affected, but the skin has been nothing but problems.

Anyway, I want to wish you all the best with your surgeries! I am also having my birthday in the hospital this year (41)!!! Possible chance I will be released after three days though and actually go home on my birthday!

Well I am home! They weren’t able to put my implants in because of bruising from my biopsy but I am going back under on Friday to have them put in. Not exactly sure how I’m feeling about that but I’m trying to be positive!

The lymph node section they took during surgery came back clean...should have full report on the nodes on Monday.

I’m doing ok, only on Tylenol today. Drains aren’t that bad, just annoying. Oh, and I got my period on the day of my surgery!!!! Lovely lovely lovely to be dealing with that in the hospital. Oh well at least I know I’m not pregnant hahahahaha!

So glad to be home for now, ready to get the implants in so I can start recovering for real.

    Hugs to all!

Yay, Wigging! So glad to hear you are okay!

Did they put tissue expanders in since they couldn’t do the implants? How bad is the pain? I’m surprised you are only taking Tylenol. And your period, geesh that’s no fun!

Sorry I’m so full of questions!

So glad it went well Wiggins! I surprised you are only on Tylenol, that sounds promising.

Glad you aren’t pregnant lol. Do you have to stay in the hospital again when the put the implants in? Did they do a nipple sparing mastectomy? Guess I Am full of questions too

    hi everyone!

I was in the oct/nov group for a partial mastectomy, but now I am having a total DMX with TEs on Dec 13. I keep moving along this timeline!

Starting to get a little nervous. I’ve been pretty “brave” so far, but now I’m going through all the decisions and the what if’s. Terrified of the TE pain and recovery time.

Here’s to smooth surgeries and fast recoveries!!

Welcome BluGene! I’m sorry to hear you need more surgery since you’ve already been through this once! Did they not get a clear margin after your first surgery?

Misha-no TE’s in...I am flat like a Ken doll lol. I’m a small chested girl so my implants will also be small... I think I didn’t need the TE’s because I’m going back in so soon? I don’t totally understand the whole thing. The pain isn’t bad!! Right now I feel more pressure and tightness with only the Tylenol on board, I am truly amazed. I don’t know how much worse I’ll feel with the implants though. It’s kind of a strange feeling to be anticipating surgery again!!

HPFULL-My implant procedure may be outpatient!!! I really hope so. I think it’ll depend on how things go during the procedure but I’m not totally sure. I go see my plastic surgeon on Thursday morning and procedure will be Friday. I did not have nipple sparing. It was an option but I talked to my surgeon about it and since any nipple tissue left behind is technically breast tissue, he explained that in terms of absolute risk the simple mastectomy leaves less room for worry about cancer coming back into breast tissue. I wanted it ALL GONE. So, goodbye nipples!

I slept decently last night so was very happy with that. I’m seriously amazed at how well I do feel! Again, nervous to go back in on Friday and start the healing again but staying positive!

I’m happy to answer anyone’s questions :) that’s what we are all here for...to get each other through this nonsense!

    Hugs!

    Welcome BlueGene.

So glad you are feeling so well Wigging! That is positive news. Thanks am so ready to get this surgery over with! I have a slight cold so hope it doesn’t get worse before surgery or I might not be able to have the surgery.

I can’t find anyone on the boards that has had what I am having. I am sure there has to be a board about it?

They are taking my nipple and cutting straight across all the way under my arm to my back and then flipping that tissue under my arm I side out and pushing it through to fill in the space from where they take the cancer out. I think I am more Beverly’s about the Tracer injection prior to the surgery lol. I think I am rambling ... getting ants

HPFULL-I had a little cold the week prior to my surgery too...I was worried about it but I did fine and my cold seems to be gone now! Hope yours goes away. I took a bunch of extra vitamin C that week.

Wigging-I put you back on the list for Friday! I’m glad you’re feeling pretty good! I hope getting the implants in on Friday will be equally as low-pain! I’ve always wanted bigger boobs, so I asked the PS to make them bigger. I’m at least going to get a nice rack out of this! Lol!!

HPFULL-Wishing you luck in finding someone with your kind of surgery. I have heard of it before when I was researching mine. It seems part of my day is taken up by researching cancer or surgery or prognoses or celebrities with breast cancer! Lol

Well I get to join your list as well. BMX with reconstruction. I decided to not take any chances with having lost a sister, 2 cousins and an aunt to breast cancer. My surgery is December 14.
