Hello ladies, it’s hard to believe that one year has past since The Diagnosis. Back to normal but never be quite the same.

Don’t trust mammograms. I will be going for an annual MRI because my breasts are what they call “dense”. Last MRI I had turned up a false positive. I was really angry and scared thinking I had a second tumour. Ultrasound confirmed there was nothing. Oh therelief!

Hard to believe today is the 1 year mark of hearing those dreaded words. Not going to lie it has been a long year and I'm adjusting to my new normal. I am going to have another surgery to remove a fat necrosis that formed and it is pretty tender. At the same time my PS is going to even our the girls. I did decide to wait until January, I would like to enjoy my holidays this year and there is no rush. On a positive note I had my first mammogram 2 weeks ago with the all clear, woohoo! Big hugs to all!

Ladies it is so good to read all the updates. I have been mostly away from this board as time has passed...yes, most days I forget that I was ever diagnosed with cancer. Until I look down at the foobs LOL. I have some rippling with my implants and my PS wanted to do some fat grafting but I got a new job so I decided to wait on that. I’d like to get me some nipple tattoos at some point as well. All in all, life is good!

just wondering how everyone's reconstruction is going and if you chose a route of fat grafting after implants to smooth out? Is it safe? any regrets/problems with doing it?

I read this on this sight regarding fat grafting, it was one of the cons:

    • Because some fat cells can stimulate cell growth, some doctors are concerned that fat injected into the breast area may cause dormant breast cancer cells to grow; research needs to be done to find out if this is true.

I am completely done with all my reconstruction. I had fat grafting 3 months after my implants. In all honesty I regret doing it. Yes, they look better, they feel more real, and they are warmer. The downside is the fat lumps that you never know whether to worry about or not. So, they have to be checked.

I also honestly looked forward to lipo on my tummy. Yeah, my stomach doesn't look that much different other than some saggy skin. You certainly are not going to have a flat stomach. At 50, skin doesn't bounce back like a 20 year old either.

Now my 3d nipples. Those are freaking AWESOME! I had mine done in Omaha with Lenny Renken and I dare say he might be better than the Vinny everyone talks about.

    hello Ladies,

One year out! I will have fat grafting in the coming months to fill the dent and achieve symmetry. My treated boob is full of scar tissue so a few more lumps do not concern me.

Been on tamoxifen for a year now. Can’t bear these hot flashes, but I suppose this is a rights of entry into menopausal land.

SDWoman, thanks for responding and sharing your experience. That’s what I’m concerned about, dealing with the lumps. Not sure I want to deal with that. But don’t like all the scaring and unfinished work. Glad your tattoos came out so well!! Yay!!
