Merry Christmas all. Santa was very good to me. We are experiencing a white Christmas which we haven't done in over 20 years. It is very beautiful.

EmmyEdward - thanks for the meditation link, nice.

PauletteK - adorable pup! I have 4 boosters left. The pain subsided some yesterday so I'm hopeful and at least ok to proceed with next week.

you seem to have many of the feelings and emotions I have. I was diagnosed on Dec 14 th and have a surgical consult on Jan 4 th. My family doctor is on leave so I received my biopsy results and diagnosis from him on the phone day before his leave started). I was in such a state of shock that I don't really have a lot of info about treatment options yet. I have only told my husband and sons yet as I am the type of person who has to process things myself. At the best of times my siblings are driven by drama so not looking forward to telling them. My two best friends have had their fair share of health issues past two years, strokes and diabetes . I have always been a big support for them so this will be heartbreaking news for them both I'm sure as they always talk of me as being so strong. My hubby and I had planned on a visit to the grandsons on in early Jan and our annual four month trip. To Florida. Thinking about that now as I look out window at blizzar

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. Mine was a bummer because several people didn't come because of a stomach bug and my elderly mom has not been well. Plus I'm just ready for this crappy year to be over.

Back at rads this morning. I am so red and starting to get sore. I see RO tomorrow, hope they can give me something for this

Hope62- I too should have been in Florida back in Nov, for 6 months. But I believe in NYS over FL for my medical care. Is that legitimate? Who knows, but its what I feel in my head so I'm stuck here too! It gives us something to look forward to. You will get thru this!

Today was my first rad treatment. And honestly, not bad. I was nervous, but staff is great. Took longer than normal because they did xrays while I was on the table. Tomorrow should be shorter. I've put on aloe as soon as I got home, now that was cold!

I also have a cold, I'm taking Nyquil & Dayquil. Should be gone by the weekend, I hope. And I'm wearing a mask for rad treatments. We have a separate entrance than chemo patients, but I don't want anyine picking this up.

Have a good day ladies! And thanks for the support.

Hope sorry that you have to join us here, we are here to support each other.

Amy, my Christmas was great, so glad to have three days off from rads gave my skin a chance to get well. I’m on 13/20, skin is not bad after three days, how many more sessions do you have?

Cindy - first treatment usually takes longer, afterwards will be faster.

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a nice holiday. I started my rads treatment today, which was pretty uneventful. It took a while, I think maybe a half hour while they remeasured me and everything before doing the actual treatment. I have magic marker all over me right now to help remind me where to put on the cream they gave me. I feel a little goofy but at least the treatment itself was pretty quick and benign. It should go a lot quicker tomorrow.

    Good Evening Warriors!

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas:)

Was back in for my 19/20 zapping today. Tomorrow I'll be done and I really can't believe it. For as much as I dreaded them being during the holiday, I think they went by fast because I was busy with holiday stuff. The holidays were actually a good distraction.

My tech's told me as I was leaving today 'Well I guess tomorrow is it' I was like yes indeed! They said well we'll miss you... then they said, we won't miss the purpose, but we'll miss your smile.

I pray that as you all start or continue your sessions that your spirits stay lifted, your skin stays healed and most of all know that one more day is closer to the finish line.

PauletteK hello my warrior friend, yes..its been a journey. 13/30, youre almost halfway there!!!! Yeahhhhhhh...

Since Sept 25th, my confirmed diagnosis date it's been a whirlwind of emotions, appts, lotions, zaps and tears. In the midst of it all, God is still good!!! My coworkers; the few that knew... and I celebrated each of my zap days with a dance. But we're out of school right now so at 10am tomorrow...please dance! Pick any song and celebrate with me.

I've been reading up on tamoxifen as I'll start that Jan 1 and guessing I'll have to up my vitamins in D and Biotin. Not sure if I should start the D and B now or wait til my Jan 31st appts. So much to remember. Lol

But I'm about done and my skin held up very well. I'll continue to lotion on the same zap schedule for another cpl weeks and then just morning and night until I'm sure my 'microwaved' skin on the inside is in full repair.

ok, ladies. I know some of you have already addressed this. I finished rads on Dec 14, with the last of my boosts. Things are finally beginning to heal up. Under my arm is almost feeling ok!

I am still having issues where I had my boosts. Some places are cracking and oozing, especially where you could imagine it being most painful. So what did you gals do for that, those of you who have had this?

I know it is temporary, which is what it makes it bearable. My daughter has worked hard to schedule a professional photo shoot for the family on Friday, and I think I might actually be able to tolerate a bra for a few hours and wear some normal clothes

Lifechoices- I will do a dance for you at 10 tomorrow morning. Congrats on completing 20/20!

Scaligirl- you & I are newbies. Today was my first rad also. Kind of glad this and next week are short weeks. I've lotioned up 2x today, and if I'm up early enough (4 hrs before treatment) I'll lotion up again tomorrow morning.

Scaligirl & CindyNY - I’m with ya! I start rads tomorrow. I don’t expect it will be too much of a bother right out of the gate. After reading back in the thread, the SEs seem to be hit or miss. My RO suggested straight Aloe Vera. I’ll give that a shot alone at first and adjust if necessary. We’re trying for the short course but I’ll know for sure tomorrow. RO is concerned b/c of being somewhat large breasted. Funny since my BS mentioned how my breast size would help with the ‘fill-in’ after lumpectomy. Win some, lose some.

Hope62 - the beginning of this process surely does stink. A lot of waiting and no answers yet. They’ll come in time but I certainly understand your change of plans frustration. My husband & I were full time RVing. We’ve ‘abandoned ship’ during my Sx’s & treatment b/c there was nothing nearby. Ended up going back to a town we used to live in. And we have a cruise booked in mid-Feb. At this point that’s seems to be do-able but I’ve still got lingering doubts. Hope you get some answers soon

    CindyNY...lets dance! Thanks:)

OneLove622... I used aloe one time, but I stuck with the Miaderm/Aquaphor combo and it worked really well; no skin irritation at all, but as the post said each person's SEs were different.

ScaliGirl and CindyNY...of course it depends on your rads time, but I was able to lotion 4xs a day; I'd lotion in the morning after I showered (lathered my boob and under my arms with dove white soap, no rag or loofah, just a soap lather) and getting ready for work say about 6am; Miaderm. I'd lotion at 1230pm; Miaderm 2hrs before my zap.... my rads were at 230pm, id be done by 3...would lotion again, Miaderm.... and then I'd do one final lotion/cream just before bed...usually around 830/9 with Aquaphor....again, no itchiness, rashes or anything. I too am busty; 42DD so I slept in cotton tees and made it a point to only wear cotton bras (from Lane Bryant), no wire.. they are pretty comfortable and did not rub my skin.

OneLove622, I understand the halt in RVng, but get ready for that cruise because you're going and it's gonna be great!

It's 249am and I guess I fell asleep early or I'm just excited about my last zap; mom is going with me...i think we'll both cry! But they'll be tears of joy.

And again, for those of you that can... don't forget to dance with me at 10am! Thanks warriors:)

Fhyfelwr - I had the same SE - All I could do was to lotion that area as well. It will pass.....(hugs). My last dose was 12/13 and I'm still red, peeling and itchy with a couple of places that I have to be careful with or they will open up again.

I hope those of you just starting out, or nearing completion will have minimal SEs

lifechoices - I've been dancing since I finished last Friday but I'll dance harder today with you!!!! Congrats, you did it!!! How do you know you'll need to take vitamins/supplements?

And to the others that finished, or are about it, woo hoo!!!!! I cried all the way home after my last RAD. It's a very emotional thing. We've been thinking and dealing with this for sooooooooooo long and then there's finally this break. Next I will visit my MO early January and find out which meds to take. I'm post-menopausal so not sure what I'll get. I wonder how they determine which one I'll take.

I'm glad Christmas is over (we hosted) and I can have that off my mind as well. Now I can focus on me. New year so I want to focus on getting healthier and staying there!!!

Welcome to those that are new and just starting RADs. RADs were uneventful for me. I had only a little redness and itchy skin just above my microwaved boob and my underarm got tan. I only used Aquaphor and when I got the itchies I used hydrocortizone cream w/Aquaphor over that. Everyone is different though. One thing I can't stress enough is to make sure you eat plenty of protein. The RADS are zapping our bad cells as well as the good and we need to feed our good cells so they can regenerate and heal our skin and our insides. On that note, I'm going to go make myself some eggs before work. Have a great day everyone. I think it's 1 degrees F outside by me right now and only going up to 9F. But the sun is out so it's all good :)

finished #20 of 28 today. My RO is on vacation so I saw a different doc. He said my skin looks normal for 20 rounds with a bolus - it's really red and itchy. He said I could also try Benedryl cream.

I heard the bell ring yesterday and talked to the woman who had finished her rads. She was so happy. I can't wait for mine to be over. I've been through so much this year, I want to get back to the old me as much as that is possible. I'm going to try to lose weight and exercise more in the new year.

Good luck to those just starting. I feel like a veteran at my Cancer center.

lifechoices you are almost at the finish line that is amazing & good for you, yay you shall ring in the new year with no treatments & only good health to come :)

Amy i am sorry your skin is getting red hope what they are giving you helps with the redness. You are almost at the finish line as well so hopefully your skin hold up for the rest of the zapping. Sending hugs your way.

Paulette - you & i are almost half way there wooohhooo to us. I am counting down & hoping our skins don't get too red or burn. I know its hard

Tilfrank & Rhyfelwr - oohhh boy sending you both super big hugs & hoping your skin heals & does not peel anymore & you ladies are okay for NYE so you can enjoy your day.

I just finished my 8th treatment today & on Friday shall be halfway to the finish line. So far so good my skin is holding up i am applying alot of Glaxal Base all over the place, leaving it thick & letting it dry up then i put on a cotton t-shirt. I do this twice a day so hope it saves my skin. Paulette i am putting it on my back shoulder as well or attempting too lol Im also doing my stretches every morning when i wake up & at night. For those that may be worried about LE i posted a video link on another thread of some stretches that i found & shall post again incase anyone is interested. Have a great day ladies & rest of the week & to those that will leave the cancer treatments behind this year congrats you shall ring in the new year fresh & healthy :)

PauletteK - how is your skin holding up this week?

Hope62 - I experienced everything you are feeling about how our emotions are on a roller coaster during this trying time. I am supposed to be in sunny Mexico since October and yet I find myself in snowy and cold Idaho. We'll get there, we have to hold on to this dream and make it a reality.

CindyNY - glad you are on your way to the count down.

lifechoices2017 - congrats on finishing!!! Whoot, whoot!!!

I only had slight reddening of the skin until my 3rd week of treatment and then I developed a slight rash, nothing bad at all. I used aloe vera and aquaphor the entire time and am just now applying calendula oil.

I felt my range of motion and ability to do stretches was pretty darn good until the 3rd week also. Then I developed cording and 2 seromas under my arm where the lymph node was removed. My range of motion went downhill. I am now in PT for exercises and massage to reduce this swelling or I have to see my surgeon. I'm down to my last 2 boosts so I hopeful that the radiation beam is no longer affected my under arm area and this area can really heal and move fluid along.

Finished 14/30,almost half way there ........

redhead , skin is holding up just a little pink, the three days rest really help. I’m going to have another three days rest again,

Lifechoices ..... dancing 💃🏻 so happy for you, you have been our cheerleader here!!! Thank you!

PVM, yes we are going to finish soon. We had such a long journey, from chemo to radiation, what a journey. My back skin just a touch of pink, I have my husband to help me, so it doesn’t have that much cream on as the other. I just need to do my manual massage about twice a day. I need to keep it up so my LE won’t flare up.

Georgia, so happy to see you, how are you doing?? Ready for the new year?

Amy, we will be there soon. Are you doing green tea before lotion? I found green tea does help. Hope your skin will hold up well! As I said to PVM, we’ve been through so much this year, I’m ready for a better year.

Paulette, I am great. Just a small area above my breast (maybe two inches by two inches) that is pretty itchy. But regular old anti-itch cream is doing the trick, and I'm also slathering on miaderm three times a day.

And Christmas was great. My sister, brother-in-law and niece came to visit so it was four days of good food, small gifts, fires in the fireplace, and playing cards. Going back to work today was hard!

And yay for you being halfway there!

CindyNY glad you are in your way, the waiting is unbearable, always better when we have a plan.

Paulette we are almost at the same exact point in treatment.

It helps me along to know all of you are going through this with me. I finished 11/30 today. Some small dots and a little pink as far as physical SE's. Using calendula after treatment and aquaphor at bedtime.

Helloooooooooo and good evening to my Warriors!!!! It is finished, i rang the bell, got my diploma and i danced!!!! I felt the earth shaking so that MUST have been my Warriors getting their dance on! Thank you so much for all of your support!

For those of you still in rads, continued prayers for a seamless and quick journey. I will still be here because we're all in this together.

I didnt cry when i finished today, but this morning i woke up and tears started to fall. I guess just the anticipation... but it was a good release because i needed that.

My mom was with me today and my sister surprised me, she was at the office when i got there...so i cried again... but it was a good day. Spent the rest of the day with mom; left at 845am, rtnd home at 6... im soooooo tired!

But i had to stop in and say THANK YOU because your support carried me through.

Ok, so im not even on my hormone meds yet and ive cried more today than i have since Sept 25th! Thanks so much ladies for your spirit!

I really am headed to bed because im sooooo tired and all i can think is i have NO alarm set tomorrow; no work, no rads...just able to sleep in and enjoy my new 700thread count sheets! Yes, that was my gift to me. I figured for all those nights i tossed and turned... and with Tamox and hot flashes... i want to be able to glide into bed and REST!

On another note i found these today, gonna see if they really work. Lol
