lifechoices i am so happy for you ringing that bell & dancing a storm you so deserve to do that. Cry those happy tears as you are now getting to recover & shall rest your body on those comfortable sheets you bought yourself
Love those other sheets you found let us know how they work especially for those like me that are on Tamoxifen & get the hot flashes lol I hope you continue to keep in touch with us as you have been very motivating & like Amy said very uplifting.

I haven't had an injury in this shoulder before. I asked the radiation techs about it and they said some nerve pain is relatively normal in the first 4-5 sessions. I feel better this week. It still hurts, but not as much. Part of my concern was that it would be permanent, since it did feel nerve related. It doesn't seem to be. I will load up on Ibuprofen if it gets bad again. Seven down, 13 to go.
-
YAY! You made it! Congratulations!!
-
Lifechoices... woot woot!!! You make it!!! Yes dance the night away, girl! We need you to uplift out spirits!
-
lifechoices, congrats!! So exciting to make that finish line 😀
-
Got to cancer center this morning and the machine had just gonedown. They are going to try to get me in later today if possible, otherwise I'm tacking on another day to my never-ending story.
-
Love that gift to yourself, lifechoices! Wishing you many restful nights.
-
disappointed that my rads machine was down today and will not be up tomorrow. That means I won't be treated again until Tuesday. I told them how worried I was about this since this week I only had two treatments but they said they spoke with the RO and he said because I'm so far along in my treatment he is not concerned. So now I tack on two more days. Ugh
-
Day 3 of rads. I've got a cold winding down, then early AM hit with some stomach bug. Everything subsided by time of my 1:45 appt, covered up with a mask and antibacterial hand gel...I got through. Just eating an English muffin and sipping a seltzer. Ill be glad for this week to end.
OCDAmy- I hope they got you in today.
-
Good Evening Warriors!
First let me say thank you all again for 'dancing' with me...i feel the love.
Second, OCDAmy sorry about the machine being down. But glad to know that it doesnt affect your treatment.
Third, CindyNY, glad the cold is getting better!
PVM, Tonight im gonna try out these new Temperature Control sheets..will keep you posted!
I start my Tamoxifen Jan 1 and im not sure why im nervous. You'd think with all we endure taking a pill should be easy. I guess because like everything else, i want to know what it will entail... but God has blessed me this far, i know that He'll continue to take care of me.
I do know that my eating habits will change, right now i take no meds at all...and IF one of the SEs is weight gain, im gonna have to battle that. My church does the Daniel Fast Jan 2-22 so ill pray my way through for health, guidance and to keep my faith strong.
If hot flashes is another SE, im already there... lol.
But to you all still in rads, i too will continue to pray for you... AND...for those machines to stay running!!!!
-
Amy that absolutely sucks getting there & the machine being broken down. Think of it this way this is allowing your skin some time to heal & i am sure all will be okay when you start back in the NY then you shall kick butt on the last rads left
Oh Cindy hope you are able to kick this bug in the butt & relax this weekend & get better. Yay to 3 rads down!
Paulette hope you were okay with Rads today & skin is holding up as well as any other SE's you may have.
Tomorrow i am pretty excited as i shall have hit m halfway mark & have only 10 left. So far so good with my skin & i hope it stays that way. I know that next week my skin will start to change i have been warned by the rad techs & have been told to moisturize moisturize & moisturize. I will be so happy when i am able to say i am done, this has been such an emotionally draining journey but im glad to be able to share with other warriors such as myself, so thanks ladies.
-
Oh Amy, what a drag. Guess you have to go buy yourself some shoes, huh?
-
Lifechoices, I start Tamoxiden January 1 as well. And actually was told a side effect is weight loss!
-
Georgia1 yeahhhhh, now i have someone to share this with:)
And thats great if weight loss is a SE... ive always been a thick girl; 2014 my highest was at 300lbs. I lost 70 lbs and although 230 was my lowest, i still maintained by eating better, going to the Y.. and in Oct 2016 i started working PT there, 2 days a week... oddly enough i was diagnosed Sept this year so due to appts and all i havent been there to workout or work since Oct.
Needless to say, since all of this ive put on about 10-15lbs. I dont think its just the foods... but also just my schedule had changed. But im gonna get back to at least walking and doing my bike.
The last thing i need is additional meds! lol
-
I’m at my halfway mark 15/30, and skin is holding up well. Pink not red yet. One more day then I will have three days off so my skin got a break.
Amy, look at it this way, your skin has a longer break so you won’t have problem later on.
PVM.... High Five 🖐🏼 You have 10 and I have 15 to go, 10 regular and 5 boosts.
Lifechoices- I ate junk food yesterday lunch, I have been good for many months, yesterday I had Korean Fried Chicken ..... 🍗🍗🍗 I gained couple lbs back and I will watch my weight.
I just went to Wholefood got some mini pies for the tech tomorrow so they have some sweets for their break time.
-
lifechoices, it seems as if every new step brings a little bit of anxiety. And you are right -- given what we have been through so far, you would think something like that wouldn't be such a big deal. I have felt that way each time something new comes along. I hope things go well, and those of us a few steps behind you will be wanting to know how you fare!
Blessings to all who are getting a long weekend break from rads -- I hope your skin appreciates the break. This close to the end, it is so hard to think about having to wait for extra days to pass before being done! Especially if it means moving that date you'd already circled on the calendar!
-
lifechoices & Georgia i have been on Tamoxifen since September & so far not too bad. I take it at night around the same time as my MO told me it helps with the SE. I get my hot flashes at night, not that many but enough lol As for losing weight woohhoo that is a SE I would love but sadly I have a relationship with food.
Paulette think of it this way, chicken is a protein so you ate good lol You are so thoughtful for getting your techs little treats I'm sure they shall appreciate it & you
-
Good morning ladies, time for my #16 zapping! Last night I can feel my armpit is getting sensitive. Skin looks fine but I think it is underneath. I’m just happy to have extra day of rest this weekend. Need to keep the lotions handy at all time now.
-
I had my 4th rads today. My armpit area towards my chest has some internal aches. I'm doing accelerated so I'm guessing its internal "action" causing it. I slathered on Aquaphor as soon as I got home.
A 3 day weekend to rest & heal, woo hoo! Even with Accelerated, I want this over. I've got a cold, and was hit with a fast moving stomach bug yesterday. Maybe once my cold is gone, I'll deal better with going to rads everyday. It's like "Nike," just do it!
Power on ladies!
-
Cindy, Sorry that you are sick so many people caught flu lately. When you're I are on accelerated radiation how many session do you have to do
Just finished #16, so happy with the three days off. Yes My armpit have some internal uncomfortable also Cindy I really think it's from inside.
-
PauletteK- I think it's 16 sessions, although they say 3 weeks. That's not counting any boosts, which I forgot to ask about last week. I have a note to ask on Tuesday. Knock on wood, no flu!
-
Cindy, 15 sessions or 16 sessions that’s not bad, I have to do 25 sessions with 5 boosts. Good luck! Today my underarm feels uncomfortable could be the burning sensation that I’m feeling now. Just happy for the three days break.
-
I'm finished! And it is my birthday! Hang in there ladies!
-
Redheadhere- happy 🎂 birthday, and congrats on being finished!
-
Congrats, Redheadhere! I hope you have a restful and healing weekend!
A couple of milestones for me today. I actually wore a real bra for an entire day and was only a little uncomfortable in it. First time in 6 weeks. Also, I put mascara on my baby eyelashes for the first time, to get dolled up for some family photos. Although I am getting hair on my head, I am somehow more excited about those little fringes on my eyelids!
-
Congrats Redheadhere that is the best birthday present ever to be finished & be done with treatment. Hope you celebrated.
Rhyfelwr woohooo what a wonderful milestone bra & mascara & getting dolled up, im sure you looked absolutely stunning. I shall be attempting that tomorrow when i go out with my friends to a bar for NYE.
Paulette & Cindy & Amy - hang in there ladies hope our skin recoups having the few days off, for the ladies that are just starting rads this week or next hang in there ladies we shall all have a good healthy New Year.
-
good morning ladies, so happy no zap today.
Redhead.... woot woot!! Congratulations and happy belated birthday!!
Rhyfelwr, you must felt so good back to normal life! There is light at the end of the tunnel.
-
Redhead, what a great birthday present, congrats.
Rhyfelwr, my baby lashes are really coming in now. I've tried mascara but it doesn't really work yet. I noticed yesterday a few hairs on my legs so I guess I need to get the razor back out.
I'm starting to peel in a few places and it's really irritated. I guess I'll be braless at work on Tuesday.
Happy New Year, good riddance 2017!
-
Amy, how many session do you still have to go? Sorry to hear peeling started for you already.
-
Paulette, I have 8 more sessions. With the machine out Thursday and Friday it tacked on those two days to the end. So four this coming week and four the following week -if the darn machine doesn't go down.
