Hi everyone! I was just diagnosed a month ago, and I haven't started any treatment yet. I am overweight, and I know I need to start trying to lose some - I've got about 30 lbs to get to my ideal weight, or 20 to get to the very top end of normal. Problem? I hate exercise, and I love to eat sweets, fried food, and pretty much anything that is bad for me. I do have a treadmill at home, so that's probably the best bet for me to lose some weight - it has a TV in front of it to make the time pass more quickly. Basically, I'm just here looking for a little motivation. :) Any suggestions for making the treadmill time pass a little faster?

Sorry about your diagnosis. I love listening to music on the treadmill. Im a fan of intervals too. Maybe start with 15 second fast and 45 second recovery walking, then mix it up. I find treadmill every day too much for my knees so mix it up a little with bike, rower and outdoor walking. Dont focus toi much on losing wait just try and live healthier. Good luck with treatment and treadmill.

thanks for the welcome! They found four positive nodes in my SNB, so I had to have another surgery to complete the axillary dissection. That was yesterday, so am hoping what took yesterday comes out clean.

I haven't been able exercising at all. After the lumpectomies I had quite a bit of bruising and anything that made them bounce at all was painful. I'm hoping to start walking onthe treadmill after my drain from yesterday's surgery is gone.

Walking is a great form of exercise. You have a great attitude. Im not sure what the weather is like but try and get some fresh air. Being outside is lovely and with surgery, tests and all the other stuff that goes with BC you find yourself indoors alot...I always felt better if I spent some time outside. Will be nice to say goodbye to your drain☺

    Hello Sisters...

This is my first time posting but I have been reading for many months.I also put on 20 lbs during Chemo and worked out really hard to lose it in 2 months. Maintaining your weight on Tamoxifen is a constant battle.I exercise everyday and try to eat as careful as I can. Sometimes I just wanna say to hell with this and eat crap ..this journey is a hard one.

Hi Marshiepooh. It really is easy to become discouraged and give in. Im not having the best day today. I miss my before breastcancer life. So Ive allowed myself a sulking day today and tomorrow I will pick myself back up. You've done really well to lose your chemo weight so quickly. Keep eating well and exercising. Our bodies and minds need it.

Cinque I hope you relished your sulking day. We all need one from time to time.

Marshiepooh, congratulations on the loss. It's hard but important to keep a lid on things.

My weight has stabilised and I've been enjoying my dragon boat paddling!

Cinque, that's great! I love walking, I average around 14K steps a day.

I still need to shift some weight but I'm doing lots of exercise at the moment so I'm happy with that. My Dragon boat team is starting to train for the International Breast Cancer meeting in Florence next year. We're even having an Italian dinner in a couple of weeks to mark a year out. I can't wait!!!!!

hi girls. Haven't checked in for a while..settling in well in my new home. Ive got no naughty treats at home and this strategy along with extra walking has helped me shed weight quite quickly. Im not sure what A1C is..but it sounds like your doctor is taking good care of you. Im currently on a European summer holiday in beautiful Croatia. Food is lovely weather is beautiful..lots of walking, swimming, biking...even kayaking. Feeling good..loving life

Cinque, you look beautiful!! Enjoy your holiday!! An A1C is a blood test that shows if you are diabetic! It is over a three month period! It measures the amount of glucose! My last one showed that I am out of diabetic range, Hooray! My doctor was very pleased! Cinque, keep up the good work!!!

Good work Kindergarten keep that diabetes away! Food in Croatia is lovely. Seafood mostly grilled delicious and healthy. Feeling good...when you are having chemo you feel like you will never feel well again. Im happy to report that there is life after treatment.
