ooops, can't go to bed without saying...

Good Morning Feline! Hoping DD is all healed up from that ill tempered gate. Is DH still in the States? What part of NC are his folks at?

Woke up to about an inch of snow on the ground. Raining now but it's going to making shoveling the sidewalk and walkway an adventure

M0mmy ~ Snow????? Ick! Stay inside with lots n lots of hot cocoa!

MammaRay ~ I was wondering if you were going to stay at the hospital. Geez, how is anyone supposed to rest with those damn machines blaring? FoFF has one that is awful too. MY mother-in-law had the nurses show her how to reset it! Are you and DH able to take shifts? I foresee some very long naps when your little sweets gets sprung. Sending thoughts of healing and quiet your way. 💓

My picture program sent me a reminder of "this day in history".

Can you guess where FFH and I were exactly 8 years ago today?

Maybe seeing this pic of us the night before will help...........

Shep - Glad your FoFF is on the road to recovery.

MammaRay - How long do you think your DS will have to be in the hospital? I hope not too long. Poor little guy.

Loverly - Have you ever had Mitzy's thyroid checked? Only ask because you mentioned the shedding & skittishness. Who knows!

Lita - Sorry it rained during your party, but sounds like you had an enjoyable time anyway. Good to know you have people who value you and want to honor you for your B-day.

Okay, I am off to do some more cleaning. Will be at the Zoo tomorrow and apartment inspection is on Wednesday morning. Mostly I need to fold fabric and mop the floor. My sewing supplies can get out of hand.

    Later Ladies!

    Shep is that Graceland?

DD is much healed thank you.

DH is home safe and sound. He was in Charlotte. He has some cousins in SC.

Going out to Christmas dinner with my ladies group (ICA the Irish Countrywomans Association) tonight. Then Christmas dinner with my Photography club tomorrow night! Had the two dinners back to back last year too! This year they are both holding it in the same venue!! So will be going to same local restaurant 2 nights in a row. Not complaining.

Ah the Christmas festivities! I have one more public outing before Christmas Eve, also DH's business associates, but these are the team he manages, about a dozen. Some have been with him for years, a few I have not met. It's going to be a lunch, and the team had voted on a venue in the top of our tallest skyscraper where there's a fancy restaurant. Spouses/significant others invited. I told DH I didn't think I could do it. Not good with heights, and it's downtown so parking, walking, etc. when DH told his team, one of the women I know said that I should pick. So we are going to my favorite Mexican restaurant. Close, lots of parking, good food, my sweet Maria gets the business, what more could I ask? Well I asked DH for a new wig - over a week ago, and he still hasn't ordered it. Grr. Men. Can't live with 'em, can't shoot 'em.

Rough day. Woke up with really bad nausea, no V fortunately. Took a zofran and lay here while Susan cleaned the rest of the house, then cousin helped me to the den so Susan could clean the bedroom. She didn't come her last scheduled cleaning as she had some kind of infection so we wouldn't let her. She brought a beautiful Italian creme cake from the store where she demos food (her 2nd job). And DH wrote her check for half again as much, for a Christmas gift/bonus.

Now I'm back in bed listening to some Chopin. DH wants pizza for dinner and now the N has passed, it sounds really good.

I keep having these annoying muscle spasms/charlyhorse kind of things in my torso, especially any time I twist. You don't realize how much you twist until you can't.

    So how's y'all's day?

mags, glad the N went away, enjoy your pizza! I got all the presents wrapped and figured out a few more things I have to get. The Christmas cards are out for the mail and I'm going to finish some cookies I started the other day. I'm doing pretty good considering the late start I had. Normally I've done a lot of shopping by November, not this year.

Feline, glad DD is doing fine. Any Christmas plays, etc she's doing? How's DS doing with university? Wow, can't believe it's been a whole year since we met!

I can attest to Lovers house. That's exactly how it looks. I think it's easier with just 1 kid home!

Poppy, (do you see how Lover is calling you peppy) 😜 Gus is cute. Do you have a tree up? Watch out for flying ornaments! Mine aren't doing too bad, only 1 or 2 have been knocked off.

JunieB, a couple more days! Where will you fine the time to sew with a puppy underfoot? Haha

MammaRay, hopefully your son will be home soon, I'm sure he's not too happy with being in the hospital. Tell him it's better to have a larger mouth as his new teeth come in. He might get lucky and not need braces. I have one grandson, 14, who still hasn't lost all his baby teeth yet. How old is your other DS?

Well, have to go cook, bbl

    Well here's the latest:

The weather appears to have some bad stuff in store up here. Roads over the Columbia Gorge are ok now, but as of Thursday/Friday freezing rain is supposed to hit in that area. The lady who is supposed to drive me has said that if there are icy roads, she isn't comfortable driving in that. I do not blame her either. It can be treacherous up there. Last week truckers by the boatload were having to stop and chain up. So as things stand now it is iffy whether I'll get to bring Kirby home this coming weekend. I will be very disappointed if it doesn't happen, but I'll get through. Kirby is growing so fast and I don't want to miss any more time with him than necessary. He is safe and comfy where he is. Enjoying hugs & kisses and playing with the other dogs, plus sleeping with Anna (the breeder), her husband & their other dogs. Quite the crew.

I called Amtrak, but they don't allow any animals on board. Grey Hound would be a minimum of 9-10 hours each way w/ 2-3 hour layovers in Portland & Spokane, and same in return, plus I would need to get from Salem to Portland and back. I physically cannot do that.

Alaska Airlines has seats available, but those are approx. $395 round trip for me & $100.00 for Kirby one-way. It is too cold, so he cannot be shipped either, nor would I allow it.

I have a friend who is a nurse and she did offer to pay for a plane ticket, but I just could not in good conscience let her do that. I don't ever want to have money come between me and any friendship. True friendships are too precious and in limited supply. So for now I will sit and wait and hope & pray this week. Maybe the storm will change course and go further NE.

Mags- Sorry you're feeling so bad, but glad you have help. What style of wig do you want? Short and sassy or Long and luxurious? ;0)

Lita - Rest and relax. Tomorrow is another day to work on the decorating. Do you have anyone to help you? How's your pup?

Sheppers - Beautiful pics of wherever that is.

Feline - Happy to hear your DD is healed up and your DH is back home safely. Hope you have a wonderful time at the Christmas dinners.

Ok, back to work, pain meds have kicked in and tomorrow it is off to the Zoo.

Mamma Ray, DS had the same delay with his teeth. It was so long that the dentist did an x-ray to make sure he actually had teeth. They did come in finally and he has a nice set now. I think he felt the same way. It's hard when you're friends are losing teeth and selling them to the tooth fairy and you can't participate.

Mags, I wonder if the Havalen is messing with your magnesium or potassium level. Could it be the low level that is causing the spasm? I could see you in that beautiful wig. Don't know much about the henna tattoo, but I have seen some amazing designs.

MammaRay, I have been thinking about you all morning and am so grateful that you are not plagued with the horrible side effects of the gamma knife and are able to be there for your little guy. I know it's hard not to feel guilty going home to rest, but you need it so you can better take care of him. Remember there is a difference between conviction and guilt. One is good and the other is bad. Hang in there. Hugs

    Got to run. BBL.

Mags, Love the wig. I could never get my hair to do anything for more than 30min. Then it would go back to it's old ways. I finally decided to just like what it did. Do you have any new age-type bookstores near you? I would start there asking about henna. I've seen some gorgeous designs on bald heads. They last several weeks, so would be great for a special occasion.

Loverly, magnesium level was checked in hospital, potassium with last labs at chemo Thursday, both within range. Started having them with no movement at all today, these are killers! OMD they are 10s and counting!

Just sent DH a pic of the wig as a gentle reminder that he hasn't ordered it yet, his response: can't find the link. So I resent it.

I've had a song going through my head this morning, not exactly Christmas but a winter song. I have it on my iPhone by the von Trapp children (yes, those) and it is haunting. Listen to it if you can, here's the words:

    Something Told the Wild Geese

    Something told the wild geese
    It was time to go,
    Though the fields lay golden
    Something whispered, "snow."

    Leaves were green and stirring,
    Berries, luster-glossed,
    But beneath warm feathers
    Something cautioned, "frost."

    All the sagging orchards
    Steamed with amber spice,
    But each wild breast stiffened
    At remembered ice.

    Something told the wild geese
    It was time to fly,
Summer sun was on their wings,
    Winter in their cry.

This poem is in the public domain.

    Gives me goosebumps.

Sensi ~ Both the pic you posted of Chance and the one of your beautiful Christmas tree look professionally done. Talented decorating and talented photography. So, so pretty!

FFH does not do holiday decor....he is a fart face. I do so love to see all the pretty lights and decorations Christmas time bring. Next year I'll get the boys to come over and start helping to decorate in September :)

Feline was right - Graceland! The King loved the holidays and the house and grounds are all done up the way he used to do.

JunieB - Massively bumming about the prospect of inclement weather rudely delaying your motherhood. I am totally against winter. Boo! If you should fly to get Kirby, they can't make you put him in with the cargo. All he needs is a sturdy little carrier and he can ride with you. He would have to be on the floor by your feet when taking off and landing and could then be on your lap the rest of the time. When DS was a baby I would fly with him and our 2 kittes up North to see family at Christmas...by myself! I also know many dog people (both pros and pet owners) who fly WITH their dogs. No animal should ever be put in the cargo hold. How can that even still be allowed? I am excited to hear about your zoo day! And to see pictures? Critters and pretty lights....much awesomeness!

MammaRay ~ So glad that you slept at home last night. You need to be careful not to overdo and get worn out. I'm sure you'll need all your energy for when your DS comes home. Little boys build up extra power the longer they stay put too long :)

M0mmy ~ "Happy wife, Happy life"....Hubby's got it right!

Loverly ~ "there is a difference between conviction and guilt" The different meanings of the word conviction really make that a a profound and powerful thought. I like it. You are so wise <3

Mags ~ Ohhhh, pretty hair! Love the style. Hope DH hurries up and gets that order in! Do you think maybe your spine mets are causing the spasms? Things "shift" and nerves and stuff get pushed and pinched. I take a low dose of Valium when mine start up Relief without being too much more spacey ;)

    Big Waves to All!

I have been fed and am now going to try to sleep. Can't say "going to bed" since I haven't left it all day except to pee. Last night I was awake a lot because I was so thirsty. Finished off the drink I brought to bed, probably 8 oz, then fixed another liter of my Sodastream drink (mango-berry) and drank all of that, barely had enough to take my thyroid meds at 6. So DH (bless him) made up 2 liters and brought me some. (He also ordered my wig, and paid xtra for overnight as penance.) Tomorrow is the team lunch, where I will get to see familiar faces again and meet new team members who have been praying for us. Then Thursday chemo again.

When my pastor visited last week, as I was walking him out, he noticed that our gutters are overflowing. I told him the church had sent out a team to clean them in the fall, but the leaves have shed since. Today I got a call from his assistant (also a BC survivor) who said they are scheduling another time to come clean the gutters again. We have such an awesome church! Able retired people volunteer for these tasks for folks like me. These are the same kinds of folks who arranged a schedule of drivers for me during rads so my family didn't have to take me every day. How I wish every cancer patient, especially the lifers, could have this kind of support.

Our Christmas tree has been going up very slowly between cousin's full schedule and DH's recovering right hand (and me). It is now up and lit. Trying the new LED lights that you attach at the top and drape like a tent. We haven't got them tucked in yet, no ornaments. DH brought the village down and we will put it up next week. We haven't had it up in 6 years or more, I asked special this year because who knows? They indulge me. I miss being able to bake for the holidays, I loved that so much. Perhaps when I'm at my laptop I'll post some pics of Christmas past. We used to put the village under the tree with a train and all.

Shep, I shared the video with my cousin, whose favorite bird is the Canada goose, and she sat there ooohing and ah-ing as she watched. Loved loved loved it twice over again.

I have been taking the 2mg Valium the hospital neurologist prescribed (the ones about which my PCP said "How cute!") and I'm not sure they're helping with the spasms but I'll pay better attention.

That's all I've got. Hope you don't find me checking back in later

Mags, I thought the smallest Valium dose was .5. That may be why your PCP called them 'cute'. I'm sure you could safely take more if it helps. Check with your doc.

Loverly, I'm with Shep..I want to sneak in your house and play with your OCD. I wouldn't make a mess, though, I would just move things around a little.

Shep, That's great that FoFF has made so much improvements. No...my paperwork specifically says no heat on surgerical site for a couple of weeks. I have been icing, while buried in blankets.

MammaRay, How is sweet DS doing?

Feline, I hope you are having a great time at your Christmas dinners.

Mags, Sorry for the rough day Monday. Beautiful wig you picked out. I bought a wig I liked, but then didn't wear it much..too hot. I mostly wore scarves and hats. I hope the lunch tomorrow is enjoyable. Good luck with Chemo Thurs!

Junie, I SO hope you get your baby this weekend! Maybe the breeders would come to you?

    Sensi and Lita, Nice trees!

Mommy, Maybe you're getting the cold that we have now...Today was a high of 7, I think, but colder with the wind. Tomorrow AM wind chills below 0.

    Hi Miss Wren!

I had check up with MO yesterday..we were so busy talking about stuff that we never went over blood work that I had done right before seeing him. Guess I'll read my results in the on line system. Anyway, here's a recap...Feb-Oct I was taking Aromasin and getting monthly Zolodex shots (to shut down ovaries). I was taken off both in Oct due to severe joint pain. The joint pain is better, but not gone. I had been on Tomoxifen for 3 months last winter and I know MO was considering putting me back on that. I asked if the joint pain was permanent, and he felt that with time it may get better. I asked MO about trying a different AI in combination with Zolodex and he said he is concerned that the Zolodex is the cause of the joint pain and he talked about the balance of treatment vs QOL. But, he understood my need to try another AI before going back to Tomax. (The combined treatment is supposed to give me better long term results.) I told MO that I felt like a failure when I had to be taken off meds two months ago. So, yesterday I got a Zolodex shot and I started on Letrozole. I also got x-rays of my hands and will be consulting a Rheumatologist on the 23rd. Did I ever mention that I hate constant change and limbo?

Loverly, I think it's funny that I've also been known to rearrange things in stores but my house is a mess. I've never lived alone, so I can't say it's DH for sure, but he's certainly a prime suspect. I would alphabetize the spices if he would let me. We have a whole cabinet full of herbs and spices. I think we could cook a meal from any country with the spices we have on hand. DS once told a friend we don't have any food, but spices for anything we might buy. Epizote to zataar, we have it.
