    Barbe, if you and your husband have a household income of $100,000, then yes, your annual deductible would be $4000. But if your household income is lower, then the deductible will be lower. It is set at approx. 4% of income. And according to the program materials, after the deductible is paid each quarter, the charge on each subsequent prescription can be no more than $2.

    I can certainly understand that if you are hoping to be employed again soon, and therefore hopefully will get full drug coverage again from an employer, then it makes no sense to go through the hassle of applying for the Trillium program. I'm sure the application process is not easy. Still, it's good to know that the program is available to anyone in Ontario who has high out-of-pocket prescription drug costs beyond any other drug coverage they might have (or if they have none). It sounds like you are looking for a short-term interim solution, and the Trillium Drug Program is not designed for that.

    Barbe, ask your MO (or more likely your GP) if they have a certificate from Astra Zeneca for the pharmacy to obtain name brand Arimidex much more reasonably.

    When generic Arimidex became available my health insurance would only pay for the generic not the name brand. My side effects, which were horrible, got even worse on the generic. That "card" from my GP has kept me on the name brand for 4 years. I'm still getting it though I'm now on senior's drug benefits.

    Failing that being available, ask your MO if they have any samples that might tide you over until you can get the Trillium qualifications sorted out.

    kmpod, you nailed it!! When my DH came home from work yesterday I asked to see the "card" I got from the cancer centre (he picks up my prescriptions). It's from AstraZeneca and it will cover the cost of the difference between generic and Arimidex!! So, I only have to pay the generic price which will probably be only $30 a month instead of $200!! Whew! Dodged that bullet!

    Now, back to cb123!! Cb, you can see that this community is very interested in taking care of each other. They banded together for my issue, but we are still waiting to hear from you to know how you are doing. Please share, we truly do care...
