NancyLee, what part of Montana do you live in? I live in Billings.

I do have a question for you ladies. I finished my last radiation treatment last Friday and have my first 3 month visit with my oncologist on the 14th of December. What kinds of tests and scans did you all have during your followup visits? I'm not sure what I should be asking for when I visit with him.

Hi Patty, I get blood work done usually about a wk. before my visit. Thats all I get. I was told any new pain that last more than 4 or 5 days or any problems breathing (other than a cold) get an. apt. Congrads on being done. Mary

    Good Patty,

I get bloodwork right before seeing the onc and he looks at it and says it's ok. Anytime something suspicious occurs, he orders that specific test and also orders mammos every six months.

Well girls, Merry X-mas to me, I have a new toilet. I am going to hang tinsel on it. The son came over and brought a friend and they put it in. Now; I washed 2 loads of clothes in the NEW washer hubby installed in a hurry as always, and noticed the bathroom floor was getting wet again and called hubby who said "I thought I didn't get one of the hoses tight but thought maybe we would be lucky and it wouldn't leak." What the *#@* heck is this?????Thought it wouldn't leak, we might get lucky? Is this man for real? I don't think so!!!!!Now I can't begin to wonder what was in his head. Not brains!!!! You don't leave a potential leak go. Now I have a wet bathroom floor, again! O.K. there is a bright side IF you call it that and I do....At least hubby did not put the toilet in because it would of taken 3-4 days and then another 3-4 days to try to fix the mess he made the first try and then I would call the son who is just a bit smarter than hubby when it comes to home repairs only because he calls a friend who knows how to do the job to come with him. Yea, that apple didn't fall far from the the home repair tree in this family. I am so blessed. When son comes over to help hubby I just go away, they don't between the two know what is up. They just stare at something like if they just look at it long enough it will fix itself. They run in and out getting tools that aren't the right size and they look at it some more as if it may have fixed itself while they were in the shed getting the tool. They are void of any repair knowledge what so ever..... Well I better go. Hugs, Mary

Ah, Mary, I can tell you're feeling better as you're leaving me in stitches again.

Hey, good job tracking down Nancy Lee. She's going full tilt as usual. 50 below? I'd move. No question.

I think I'm getting Matt's cold. He was in bed for 3.5 days. If I get it, I'll be lucky to be in bed for my usual 8 hours. Oh well. We women are just tough. Good thing.

Speaking of cold weather, it's supposed to get to 24 degrees here tomorrow night or the next. AWFUL! Of course, it'll just last a couple days, so I shouldn't complain, I suppose. But I will. Janie, I suppose it's headed your way, too. And Mary, well, 24 degrees is something you're accustomed to, unfortunately. How does a trip to Arizona sound?

    Later girls,

    Paula

Hey P.J. I hear that cold thing is really nasty so you better take care. Janie you sick too? I guess my inner ear is getting better as I haven't been dizzy or off balance this afternoon but it comes and goes so we will see how it is tomorrow. I feel drunk all the time and after 2 wks. it is a little crazy. Hubby came in at 4 p.m. and leaves at 2 a.m. and we are to get 8 to 12 inches of snow on top of ice accumulation and sleet starting around 9 a.m. He will be in WI. by then so maybe it wont be so bad. He has never driven in snow or ice yet. I hope no one cuts him off or runs under his truck because he couldn't live with hurting someone even if it wasn't his fault. #@*#! why am I still up here? In this crappy weather? It is like 68 right now and tomorrow 28? where is the sense in that? I better get. Janie, I think this is gonna miss you, you poor thing. I know you would enjoy it as much as I. P.J. will want to come visit no doubt in rememberance of those snowy days from her younger years. The snow is only pretty for about 5 minutes. Better go, snowy anticipation hugs, Mary

PJ, Take care of yourself and get better fast. Mary, nope, I am feeling fine and dandy, better than I have in a long time. Forgetful, but what else is new. I forgot what day it was yesterday. Thought it was Tuesday. I have started emailing myself in order not to forget stuff. I sat down at the computer and forgot what I was going to remind myself about. I do not envy Tooling Tim his drive in the ice and snow in the rig. Shoot, I have a hard enough time in my little RAV4. I think we will probably get a little snow here this year....just have that feeling. We usually do...but didn't have snow days last year. The weather is up and down here....never know what to expect.

Nancy Lee....it was good to hear from you and that you are ok. Hope you get the puter going soon.

Hi girls, We are having an ice storm and the power is off and on. The tree limbs and trees are falling do to ice. I have 2 big trees that keep cracking and limbs keep falling so I hope none come through the roof. My son had a big limb go through his garage. I wish we would get the snow already to stop the ice. We are to get 8 to 12 inches. You can hear the electric lines popping and exploiding. There are a lot of people without lights. My sister came from St Louis from a Dr. apt. for her daughter, this is an hour in a half drive and it took her 5 1/2 hours to get home and she is a wreck from stress. I hope no limbs come through my roof. They are scratching and crackling. My internet was down earlier. Well you girls have a good night. Mine should be exciting, I just heard another loud explosion, my lights flickered again. I can run the oven if my power goes out so I can sleep in the kitchen I guess. BRRRRRR, Mary

hey girls, I ended up going to my brothers house lastnight because a neighbor came over and said I should leave due to the trees falling. Yea good thing because one went through my patio awning and there are big limbs on my roof. They hit so hard it knocked the crystals off my chandlier. I am at my sons now because he is one of the 10 out 14000 that has power, . The drive home and here from my brothers was like driving in a war zone. It is horrible. My daughter can't get out of her house because of electric lines on her house and trees down blocking her door. It will be wks. before it is cleared up. I am hoping the limbs didn't cause structual damage to my roof. My suv would of been totaled if I had stayed at home. I had large pine trees in back and I was affraid they would come down on my house and they went but the other way thank God. They were big too. The whole town is a mess and roads. The trees and limbs and power lines are frozen to the ground and now it is snowing. This is the last winter!!!! Gotta get. Mary

Mary, how awful to have all that damage, but thank GOD you are safe. You need to thank that neighbor. Hope the weather breaks some so you're not dealing with the freaking cold and stuff AND all that work ahead.

    Arizona sounds REAL good.

    Janie, Nancy, stay warm.

PJ, I heard that the temp dropped in Dallas by many many degrees within hours.

Can only imagine what it is like on Nancy's ranch.

Hi--I think I have my computer working right again. At least for the time being so I'm typing FAST. It's COLDER than the dickens here. It's not so much the temperature which is only a few degrees below zero as it is the wind chill which drops it into the double digits below. I choose to look at the good side of the cold weather which is that the ground is frozen solid and I have no more water leaking into my basement. YAY!!! My water froze in the well house and I had no running water for 2 days til my renter got the thing thawed out. I hauled big jugs of water home to fill the back of the toilet so I didn't have to use the outhouse. It's too cold for that kind of foolishness. I'd probably get my pneumonia back if I had to keep going outside in this cold for outhouse visits!! Since I just got out of the hospital prior to the holiday and my Jeep was on the fritz, I had a friend drive me up to Plentywood so that I could spend Thanksgiving with my brother and family and see my mom at the nursing home. She still knows who I am and we had some pretty good visits. She's getting more and more confused as time goes on, but she really is happy there and is being well taken care of so I'm feeling good about the situation. She told me that she owns the nursing home now and she tells them all what to do. That's nice!! My jeep now has a new alternator and is running better. I need it to run the kids back and forth to school from the daycare. When the weather is warm, we just walk cuz it's only a block away, but it has been too cold to do much walking the past week. Well, better quit and see if this really works or not. I've missed you guys--TONS. I'm gonna post this and then go back and read all I've missed in case it decides to act up again. Bye for now--Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Well--I've been reading, reading, reading. You all have been busy. I've girded my loins--well--put on layers of coats and my carhart snowpants and I'm going to run out to my garage and hop in my jeep and run to town for the Sunday paper and some Chili. Chili and a grilled cheese sandwich with a grilled peanut butter sandwich for dessert (on whole wheat of course) sounds like real comfort food to me at the moment. I love chili on a cold day and I was catching up on the Circle the Wagons thread and they kept mentioning chili and it made me hungry!! I think I'll get an angel food cake mix too and make myself a cake for no other reason than that I love angel food cake and it will warm up the kitchen to have the oven on!! Bye for now--Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Nancylee, so good to come on here and see your smiling face, or smiling name rather. Only a few degrees below zero? A real heat wave. lol. And I think it is cold here because I had to turn the heat on a little bit to knock the chill off. Went out this afternoon in a long sleeve shirt, no coat.

Patrick is headed for Hollywood Tuesday -- because of his movie winning that contest.

Have an early day tomorrow. I DO hate getting up early....earlier than usual anyway.

Have a great week ladies. Mary, have you been dug out yet?

So the chili was great--warmed me up nicely. I was looking for my griddle that just sits on the burner so that I didn't have to get the big pancake one down for my grilled cheese and I found these two long strings of blue Christmas lights that my brother bought in 2003. He bought 4 strings and put 2 up that Christmas along the front door and on the fence. They were still around the door when he had his attack in February and I think I took them off and threw them somewhere at that time. I probably threw them away. I can't remember. Anyhow now I found the other two unopened boxes and I took them out and strung them along the front fence and over the gatepost. They look kinda cool. I had to do it in stages because it was so cold that I ran back and forth in and out of the house to get it done. My poor fingers were numb when I got done. I haven't had a very good time at Christmas for a couple of years. I didn't do any decorating at Christmas 2004 because we had lost Mark that year and I was pretty sick from all the chemo when Christmas rolled around. Then last year my Mom got the Alzheimers right at Christmas and I didn't do any decorating then either. This year I set up the tree in my preschool on Friday and did this light thing here at the ranch today. I might be regaining a wee bit of Christmas spirit this year. HO<HO<HO!!!!! Oh, the angel food cake is cooling on top of a wine bottle as we speak!!!!! I'll have a great big chunk before I go to bed. That should give me sweet dreams!!!! I'm glad to be back too!!!!! Hey Girls, I lost elec. and had to stay in Spring. with bro. at a hotel. Yea, what a interesting night. He had no where to go and had been in the cold 2 days so I took him up there as he is an alcoholic. Pops one open as soon as his eyes open. What a life. He just sits and babbles by noon. I took off and went x-mas shopping the whole time and got it pretty much done. We could of went to my sons but I didn't think the grandkids needed to see that crap. I could hardly stand him myself when he gets looped. Guess what? my elect. is back on (and puter of course) and drunk a#s had to stay here all night. He is having his beer and I am having coffee. He is a good guy but he is so unmotivated and does not work. He is the bro. that worked for Paramount. Janie, congrads. to your son. That is so great and it is such a feat to do what he has accomplished. I don't think people that don't know what Hollywood is like could ever know how hard it is to get where your son has gotten. He must be really talented. I told my bro. and he said what an accomplishment and how exciting for him. My bro. gets drunk and thinks he still works for the industry, I have to listen to it all. Oh well, maybe his elect. will be on today. Keep your fingers crossed.....I have always protected him and taken care of him. When we were kids I beat up sooo many boys for calling him a sissy and making fun of him. My mom got so many calls from parents because I beat up their son. He was a skinny sissy kid so I had to. He had a lot of friends as he got older though and I quit my protecter job sorta. Well I am glad everyone is good and Nancy is back. We sure missed ya. Our town is like a war zone. There is no school but you can't get around well because of all the trees down and ice. The temp. is 6 so it will be a while. I better go see what the drunk is up to. Oh crap, I could just kick my mom for this brother and the other actually, they both drink too much. Hubby is in S. Carolina where it is warm. Stay warm Nancy and P.J. and Janie. Mary

Mary, you need Santa to bring you a break for Christmas. And a backup generator. Or, perhaps, a one-way ticket to Arizona. Sounds like a drag of the last few days.

Janie, very cool for your son! What is his project?

Nancy, I get cold just sitting here reading your posts. I"m glad the Christmas spirit is rearing its joyous head.

I guess I"ll get our tree up next weekend. I was too sick this last weekend. School is seriously stressing me out. Teacher thing. We may go tour another (Montessori) school this week to see if that would be a better fit, altho I have no idea how we'd afford it. Too poor to pay it outright, too "rich" to get a scholarship. Oh, and it was NINETEEN degrees this morning.

    Keep warm,

It was a little warmer today. I actually saw one lunatic at the grade school in shorts. She used to be one of my cheerleaders so I yelled at her butt for walking around in shorts in this weather. Her excuse was that she thought she wouldn't have to get out of the car!! I didn't go to bed last night because I was working on billing for the daycare and sign in sheets for pretty much the whole month of November and I got going and didn't stop til I looked at the clock and it said 4:30 and I was going to get up in an hour anyway so there was no use going to bed at that point. Now, I'm pretty tired so just dropped by here for a sec to check on everyone and I'm off to bed. Nite for now--Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

Hi girls, Glad your staying warm Nancy, I had my daughter and the 2 boys lastnight. They are still without power but it should be on today. There is school for those that can get there. I think the country roads are still bad. It was 6 degrees yesterday so nothing melted but I think it is to warm up in the 30s today. I have a neighbor I am paying to cut the trees off my awning over my patio and fix it and cut the broken, hanging limbs before they hurt someone(like me). The grandson needs on here to talk to his friends before school so I will talk to yas later. Hi P.J. and Janie. Phoenix, here I come!!!! Mary

Hi, girls. Just checking in. Supposed to get cold again tomorrow. Man, it was just beautiful today. The kind of winter we're SUPPOSED to have in Texas. Went and toured two possible schools today for Nathan in case we can't work things out at his current school. Both private; one cool, one less so. Of course, there's the money thing. So I'm hoping we work things out where he is.

Hope you all are well, have power and have a wonderful rest of the week.

Great big picture postcard type snowflakes fell here most of the day. It was really pretty and really COLD. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas--good thing you can't hear me singing--you'd be scared of carols forever!!!! I'm off to bed--36 kiddies at daycare today and 6 of them were babies--two of whom were teething and in very grumpy moods about the whole thing. After going through teething with these kids--I'm glad that we can't remember the ordeal--It must be very painful. My cousin came through town today from Billings and stopped and took me to lunch. That was a very nice little break in the day that I hardly ever get the chance to take. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee

It is going to be very cold here tomorrow and around 14 Saturday!. I am not used to this. I guess I am a sissy. Finished day 1 of a two-day workshop learning a new Autism test. My butt is sore from sitting all day...and will be again tomorrow. Behave yourselves.

    Good morning ladies,

Not much doing here. I was scheduled to have company today but they got the flu, so now I will rethink what I am doing today. Have lots to choose from....no fun stuff. It is freezing here so I will not venture off until later, if at all. TN plays later. Probably watch that if aired. Hope all is well with everybody.

Hey Janie, stay warm. We are venturing up into the 40's the next few days. I will have to break out the bathing suit it will feel so warm after neg. degrees. My grandson Bailey satyed lastnight and we made cookies. He made a giant cho. chip one and decorated it. It has a lot of icing on it. I don't know what I will do today. I have to get hubby x-mas pres. but what to get? Coupons from repair places for when we need things "refixed"? His hammer got lost during the move so there is something. It is an ongoing joke in our family as to what "power tool" I will get for x-mas. He got me a blender one year a lllloooonnnggg time ago and I told him I can buy myself a blender...You get the things I won't buy myself, like jewelry. That pretty much set him straight. I tell him what to get as he askes to save himself a butt chewing. This year it is a flat screen for my dinning room where I watch t.v. at my table and make bracelets. He is in the truck so much he can't use his tools and if I got him any he would not go back in the truck because he would want to stay home and play with them. What to do.....Well I better get. Grandson has basketball game then bowling team this a.m. so I better get him up. Have a great day girls and hope all is warm. Mary

Hi all--It was 56 degrees here today and there was hardly a breeze so it was heavenly warm. I put on a jacket and went for a walk with the psycho dog. He had fun. I'm listening to this book on CD that I picked up in Plentywood over Turkey day vacation so I took that with me on the walk. The walk lasted through about 11 chapters. I did some cleaning and digging out of bills in my living room today and when I got tired of that I made a big pitcher full of iced tea and I've been sitting around here sipping tea and doing crossword puzzles. I wouldn't want to spend too much time doing productive stuff on weekends or then I wouldn't have anything to trip over when I make my mad dash out of here to work on Monday morning!!!!! Guess I'd better go and see what my crazy dog is barking at--It isn't his "company's coming" bark--more like porcupine or other intruder in the yard. Hope it's just a bunny rabbit. Not much up this weekend. Did a little more shopping, put up the tree, bid on a Nintendo Wii on ebay. Cross your fingers for me that I get it.

Hope you all are having a great one.

It WAS a bunny rabbit and a very cute one at that!! I have no idea why he chose to bark at that particular little bunny because I have about a dozen little rabbits that hop around in the yard all the time. They eat the corn and oats that are laid out for the sheep and they eat little seeds from the weeds in the lawn. They're around here all the time so he must have just been in a bad mood. I'm getting ready to go to Dickinson, ND with a friend. We're going to have lunch and talk and do a little shopping. It's 125 miles to Dickinson, but another beautiful day so we should have no problems. This is the friend who drove me to most of my chemos and on all of my trips to the emergency room in the middle of the night. We just decided we need to take a road trip for no particular reason except we haven't gotten in a trouble lately so we're due!!! Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. Life is Good Smiles NancyLee
