Awh wow! Beautiful picture of you all
Thanks Badger for sharing
-
Lilac - that instructor sounded amazing, especially in the way she dealt with the show offs. I'm still so impressed that you decided so long ago to go for the Pink Pilates program, and now look at where it is. What a wonderful gift to your b/c sisters there. Bad, I've been getting into swim exercise as well the last few weeks. There's something soothing about being in water, especially in the winter time. Ruth - hope you shake that cold soon! Badger - you must be so excited now that the house is almost ready. What a project it's been for you!
Along the lines of DH smoking the 85 year old runner - a few years ago I was doing a Jingle All the Way 8K run, and most runners were in some kind of holiday costumes. One runner had a tuba (yes,a real tuba) and ran the whole way, carrying the tuba, and playing Christmas carols! I immediately decided that my goal that race was to beat the guy with the tuba, and I did. OK, just barely, but I did it. I found out just this year from another runner that he's actually an elite runner who plays the tuba for a local symphony orchestra, and thought it might be fun to combine both of his passions for that race. Can you imagine running 5 miles carrying and playing a tuba???
Twenty laps swimming after work yesterday.

LB the bootcamp was not a LM but the two guys who taught it are both LM instructors, the LM version of bootcamp is Grit, and they have 3 Cardio, Strength and Plyo. I really like Tai Chi it will be a great compliment to your Body Balance and Pink Pilates classes and nice that you got to see how to handle 'those' people who sometimes come to class. Mary if I did a race combing my passions I'd be eating chocolate and dancing all the way glad you are enjoying the indoor swimming. Badger you'll just whip through that house, so happy for you. Heidi I think you're on vacation this week but I wanted to ask if you'd seen that Gandalf Archer Mills has been added to the Les Mills On Demand with a new program called Les Mills Dance, I think it's pushed me to finally give in and get the 'On Demand' just so I can dance with him
Tonight did Cardio Dance Party class.
-
Half hour run on the dreadmill after work last night.
-
Cheryl, ok, got it. The yearly LM bootcamp in the UK was last month and invite only via completion of Aim 2. Out of that is a cull of some who go on to be national trainers. On demand is controversial here with instructors. Mary, no way could I carry and play a tube in a 5K! Badat, yes a victory and hope the nauseous feeling ends soon.
V I box at the gym this morning.
-
My expected 8 hour travel day turner into a 23 hour marathon (think of the old movie 'Trains, Planes, and Automobiles').....mechanical problems, weather problems, you name it (Mary, I was briefly in DC late last night). Anyway, I made it my friend's house about 3:30am, slept a little, drank lots of coffee and was able to take a great walk on the beach before it started to rain here!
-
LB I signed up today for a local Quarterly on May 7th. I understand the "on demand" for people who are snowed in or don't live near great facilities like I do, I know how lucky I am to have such choices and really well trained instructors, we just had a new 24 open a couple of miles from my house so another place added into the mix, and the great thing about 24 is that your membership allows you to go any of their gyms for the tier you pay for, I have a Super Sport membership that's why I flit from place to place.
I haven't jumped onto the "on demand" bandwagon because I know me, I'd turn it on and then just sit and watch it but the new 24 facility also has virtual and I've gone and danced all by myself in the GGX room and had a great time, my friend who left LM for Beachbody had her first program drop last Monday and its "on demand".
-
Dh and I had our annual checkup for free health funds today which we can use for med costs (we get $1k for participating in coaching, checkup etc). Free money, well almost. Trying to convince Dh that we could both eat better. I'm vegetarian but a carboholic at times. We both exercise several times per week but could drop a few pounds. Mine are residual lupron pounds.
Trying to eat better for March at least before when go on our April trip,so at the gym feeding the Fitbit.

Great pic Ruth, glad you made it and have your toes in the sand.
Mary, no way could I run & play the tuba, that guy must be strong.
The old house is DONE! Took me the better part of the day as I deep-cleaned the kitchen (moved the stove eewwww) and I am tired. The formal closing is Friday but my friend was happy to get in early so we did the walk-through tonight and I turned over the keys. Now to whip the new place into shape...
-
Ruth, I have heard about the Drunkin Rainins helping joint pain. Someone on another thread said she had gotten the recipe from you. (I do have it), but wondered if that is what it is for and if you know much about if it works. I have been on Arimidex for 6 months with no problems......until now. I love to exercise, but all at once my hip joints are really hurting! I am NOT happy about this! It hurt too much to go to Zumba today.
-
Have been off the boards for a few days so just now catching up. I have been doing water aerobics and Leslie Sansone walking classes, riding my bike and walking so have kept moving.
mysunshine, sorry you are having joint issues. If it is the arimidex hopefully it is only temporary as you are still new to this med and SE's do occur at different times, not always immediately, but also they may subside after not too long. Hoping that will be the case for you (assisted by the drunken raisins if necessary!)
PNY, I have the fitbit one as I don't need all the bells/whistles. When I'm in the water I triple wrap my fitbit, first in plastic, then in ziploc then in another plastic zipcase that was made to keep phones/iPods safe like at the beach. One hour in water aerobics or running in the pool and it came out dry. However, I'm stepping in the pool whereas I don't think this model would be any good for lap swimming.
Night sculpted friends.
-
Sunshine, my aunt's doctor told her about that recipe many years ago and she and my mom both swore by it (for arthritis). DH takes it for knee problems and he feels that it's helped him a lot too. It couldn't hurt to give it a try!
-
Been a slug the past couple weeks....only 10K+ steps today....could barely get up this morning so didn't get a walk before work....walked on my lunch and no walk tonight. Just can't get motivated!!!!! I haven't snacked the past two nights, but I've eaten at lot at dinner.. Got to take 5# off!!! I've been taking a new med since the end of December that is making me so tired....can't wait to get off of it....trade one side effect for another!!!!
-
Did not make it to yoga last night. I headed out, but had only gone a mile or so when those violent storms broke over me. Thunder, lightning, hail, vicious winds, and rain like I've rarely seen before. It was like someone had turned a firehose on the car. I couldn't see the lines on the road at all, the other cars were nothing but wavy blurs, and the stoplights were mere smears of color in the distance. Everyone slowed to a crawl or pulled over and stopped completely. When it showed no signs of abating, I conceded defeat and turned around and slowly, carefully made my way home. I was glad to get back safely. Whew!
-
With all the bad weather, I think we were lucky to make it here at all! It was stormy where we are last night too but nice this morning. More beautiful beach walking.
-
-
Oooooooooo - beautiful picture!!!!!
Glad you got there safely - the trip sounds like a nightmare. You know you can always call if you get stuck in DC and we'll have a bed for you!
-
Ruthbru, that picture is beautiful. I hope you enjoy.
-
Beautiful beach picture. Nats, glad you had presence of mind to turn around and go home to safety! Driving in wicked weather can be terrifying. Did 80 minute bone builders class this morning. Very windy here so maybe take walk after Bible study this afternoon.
mysunshine, hope your joint pain gets better so you can continue exercising. I wonder if the joint issues are a result of arimidex SE's kicking in (which may be temporary) and not the bone builders class you tried with me.
Later sculpted friends.
-
Just got back from a walking class with Patoo. My hips are hurting. I am going to try taking Clariton and see if it helps. I have heard that it does. I plan on doing it again in the morning. I'll just keep on going!! I better! I am going to St. Martin for 10 days to help with a big sailing regatta. I have done this before and it is very physical so I hope I can do it!!
-
Walked the beach and climbed to the top of this lighthouse.
-
Your vacation pictures are gorgeous Ruth. Mysunshine I found my joint pain moved around, one week it would be my wrist the next my knees would creak but it did subside with time and I always found heat helped me, kind of loosened up the joints and exercising really did help. Mary glad you are safe, that storm looked ferocious.
Tonight did 30 minutes of heart pounding exercise - Grit Cardio. -
Ruth, lovely photos and the over-extended journey there looks more than worth it. Cheryl, had a long conversation with a woman yesterday who is devising different fitness modules for different cancers called CUFitter, using LM as her template for canrehab instructors to roll out here in the UK. Very ambitious and has me keen on it: http://www.cufitter.co.uk/ Good that all is completed Badger..
Freestyle step this morning and mammo recall with BS this afternoon.
-
Lilac - good luck with your appointment with the BS today. Mysunshine - your St Martin trip sounds wonderful - give my regards to all the jewelry shops in Phillipsburg! Ruth - looks like a nice clear day so you must have had a spectacular view from the top of the lighthouse.
There was enough daylight when I got home yesterday that I was able to get in a half hour run outdoors. Woohoo - so nice to be away from the dreadmill. We're heading to the cabin this weekend for the first time since mid-January - the snow has finally melted enough for it to be accessible. Can't wait.
-
Thanks Mary, all clear and June 13 will be 4 years out. As you perhaps know, the satictical recurrance spike in the 5 year window is end of year 1, 3, & 5. Have a terrific weekend.
Managed to get to squeeze in tai chi class after step. The class started a few weeks back and think this can work in my schedule and not far from the gym.
-
hi all and TGIF. YAY for good news LB. More great pix Ruth, we may have sunny & 55 here tomorrow.
Closed on house today so deposited check, paid balances due contractors, then napped away the aft.
Now need to do some spiffing up as mom & MIL visiting tomorrow. Have a great weekend everyone! ♥
-
I just caught up with everyone's activities. This has been a week of not feeling great off and on for me so one mid-week 10 minute walk for this work week. It felt like I was definitely getting sick the second I got home from work yesterday - all achy and chilled. I slept 11 hours last night and I felt slightly better today, so I went for a 28 minute stroll with my son and the dog. I just couldn't be stuck inside all day.My husband has started the cold symptoms. I imagine I'm not far behind him. This will be my excuse to not clean this weekend.
Lovely pictures, Ruth. Its always so refreshing and calming to see the ocean. I can feel it - AHH!
-
I have been battling the staff at the acute care hospital where my mother who has metastatic breast cancer in her liver and bones is incarcerated trying to heal from lung collapse. I think that my brother and I succeeded in forcing the hospital to assess my Mom's medical condition. They were being quite vague and suggesting they might have to keep my Mom for a long stay. The doctor called me yesterday and said they may be able to release my Mom this coming week. We hope to move her to a rehab hospital immediately.
I forced myself off the couch today and did two loops around the village where I live - about a mile. I now have three parallel priorities and exercise is one of them. Now that I am clear on my priorities, I think it will become habit soon to move my body. My life depends on getting as fit and strong as possible.
-
Great news LB, those darned 'call backs' are enough to give you a heart attack, very interesting project i hope people take advantage. TH that bug is going around and it will knock you on your butt so take care and rest when you can. Badger glad everything is all tied up, hope you had an enjoyable day with your Mom and MIL. Hope you're having fun at the cabin Mary, and hope Mikey is keeping the bears at bay.
Went to half a Spin class this morning then did a master class of CX Works which is basically an core training class, they are having training at my home gym and they allow gym members to attend the master class. I've also been doing lots of walking with the 3 dogs I'm taking care of, one of them is blind but he walks like a champ, there is a lovely green belt here and he navigates it so well. -
Big sigh of relief here, LB! You sound busier than ever. Have always wanted to try tai chi.
Hope you feel better, TH. I had a nasty one, too, but being outdoors skiing seems to have helped.
Great pics, Claire and Ruth. Congrats, Badger. Mysunshine, that does sound like a lot of work. But hey, getting to go to St. Martin....wooohoooo.
Booohooo, Cheryl, Les Mills on Demand is not yet available in Switzerland. I am getting so lazy about going to the gym.
