Patty, reading your post again, "lots of blood in the urine". Will go and look at Ibrance for effect on blood values. The IV is called a central line. Strange the IV line keeps clogging--not usual, except that it can double back on it self--rare, can be_____ can't think. Did they do an X-ray after placement and problems of use. Usually, only done if use is a problem. Sounds redundant, but since it isn't functioning well, the action of choice is an xray to see how it's sitting in the vessel.
-
Mags, please do your magic again to get Patty Peppermint home on the love seat soon!
-
Hello Ladies,
Patty, so sorry to hear you're in the hospital again.
This last week was my 7 days off the Ibrance and one would think you wouldn't experience any SE's. Well I've had nausea and it was real bad on Thursday. Took 1 zofran, but it did NOTHING. Then took 1/4 of a 25 mg Promethazine. It took care of the nausea, but also knocked me on my caboose. I slept 11 hours. While no nausea is a good thing, sleeping so long is NO quality of life. Anyway today was better. I sipped lemon water all day and had a piece of cheese and a small banana. Just ate dinner a while ago and it's not sitting too well. Geezz!
Sas - how is the shoulder?
Lover - Did Mitzy get an extra cookie for letting you know about the storm?
Welcome Lookforward & Gillty!
-
Patty, I can't find your phone number card. Seriously, they need to xray the line. Central lines don't just clog. Well they can, but placement should be considered first and then there are anticlogging methods for a blocked line.
-
pappy p, I am so sorry sister. Hope they get you feeling good and work all this stuff out soon. Prayers and hugs to you.
Sas, no internet all day. Getting back to you late. First five choices...Milwaukee, Nebraska, Chicago Tennessee, Kentucky. Usually they get one of the first five. He submitted 18. We find out March 18 th.
how is your shoulder doing?
I can't shake my big D or nausea this time...now migraines are starting too. Weather change prob for migrants, but bad timing cause of the other stuff. And hubby still hasn't passed kidney stone.
Ok..nighty night. Tomorrow will be great!!!!!!!
-
Glennie, love movies based on true stories when they are done well. Like Blindside. As soon as you or Kathy said it was made with Will Smith, I smiled.
Thanks Kathy
Zills Hellooooo and thankful you are back..., Frist, saved me time looking at Ibrance. When I looked for the old post on the PPI/PPB's on that old thread, I realized that is where we met . That was either yesterday or the day before. Then here you are.
Aloe may help, ginger may help. Trial and response. But you say your on Pepcid and it's not working? So, how aggressive are they being? Zills you said you were going to sleep So, I can add look for food triggers.
For years, DH and I took Pepcid in the evening. It was so odd that I never thought food trigger. It was just normal to say do you want one. We were into the low red meat thing. Ate breast skinned chicken 3-5 times a week. Who thinks chicken?
But unsure what any of it means. Added back many things on the intolerance list. No acid reflux. Drink wine every other or third day. Smoke. Coffee and chocolate are on the list. I drink maybe 8 cups of coffee a day. Eat what I want. Have no clue why I had acid and many nights of needing Pepcid, other than chicken.
The one absolute on the testing list was ----pineapple. Forgot it was on the list. Saw PCP on a scheduled visit the next day and showed her my gums that over night looked like disease UGH. Her words were "What did you eat?" Then the drinking of the fresh pineapple juice that only touched the front gums as I was swallowing came forward as a memory.
What is accepted about food is that we can have intolerances and allergies. They are different. Allergies we avoid like the plague. Intolerances are variable and take a greater degree of understanding how they affect us.
As usual I went off on a thing .........
Zils how are the kids? How are you?

Mags that blue love seat looks comfy.
Our home is 30 years old and the kitchen looks very dated, so we are going to renovate. I am excited for a new look. We looked a flooring today and tomorrow we are checking out cabinets. We have someone that we know lined up to do the work, all we need are costs to see if it fits in our budget.
Hope everyone starts to feel better and has a good weekend.
-
Hi, Lookie, Sounds like you are going to have some fun picking out things YAY
-
sas. Yep they did X-ray to check position when they put it in. Was good. It's still working but IV is beeping alotdue to occlusion. The are flushing it hourly. Praying it holds. I think you gave me the whatfor for ignoring symptoms, right ?
Thanks for the support all. I am wide awake in this very lonely hospital room. It sucks !
-
Patty, yup with love..... Really rare a catheter can flip. Taking another xray as a back up can rule that out. Resistance can be that "it never happens". Well, seen it. Central lines don't misbehave without a reason. Somethings not right. It's night time, worst time to have a problem. Could be something as simple as how it's taped. You need a detective type nurse. Don't mean to cause problems. Central lines are put in b/c they have access to the biggest veins. Yours is likely an external jugular based on description. Neck, right? Technically not a central line, but technically yes. Bottom line something's wrong, ASK for the House Nurse Supervisor to sort it out. When you do that everyone will act and do differently.
-
-
I think Patty is sleeping/resting. Ms. Night Owl, nighty night.
Forward, always nice and fun to shop and pick out things for renovation. I can't say the same about the construction part though.
JunieB, no cookies for the reward as I am trying to rule out allegies and of course, DH just told me today he gave her one yesterday for being good. I could have smacked him, but didn't because I didn't have a cast iron skillet. Found new rashes today on her belly. Ugh. I did give her Fuji apple (organic too). The girl loves apple.
-
Tomorrow will be better. Yes Susan!
-
Little Peppermint... You had better get ready, because in all likelihood, I think Sass will put her Birkenstock's back on, and head over to your hospital! She will shake things up with those damn people.... Just mind those folks there.... course you can't do much else...
Maybe you need some Costco Goat Cheese, mixed with chia seeds, flax, Hemp seeds and steak seasoning....Even some sesame seeds......all mixed up and eat it with Mary's Gone Crackers gluten-free crackers. That is the best snack with your morning coffee.... and it will fix EVERYthing. Write that down.... tell the Nurses..... And that's all the help I can give you...... Just lay there and get better.... don't go walking down the halls with your feather duster.... xoxo
And Mags.... Geez, I love that COUCH Mags! I have one about that size, but it is becoming worn down! I like it because my feet touch the floor, but the one cushion I sit on, is becoming deflated... and they are attached! So I can't move them, or even turn them over.....Someday I will get another "stiff" one... that has movable cushions... I have a recliner, but I like to curl up on the corner of the couch.
-
Gillty, welcome to the thread.
Patty, feel better soon!
*Owlettes*
-
Hope today us better for you Patti:)
Looks...we are going to remodel kitchen too. Painted the cabinets about 15 yrs ago. Just going to repaint. Spend money on new counters, stainless steel island and a pantry against one open wall. Can't wait. Some wallpaper gas to come done to. But just one wall and some border above the counter.
Happy Saturday to all
-
yep still having alot of trouble with central line. Beeping all night. Really are to flush says nurses. I will do as sas says, see if that helps.
Hugs all. Love y'all
-
Here you go, Chevy! It's even cheaper than when we bought it, and shipping is free. It's really nice, and DH can tell you it's comfy enough to nap on
-
in the bag patty. Can't get any rest if the beeping goes on all night plus everyone in/out. What mg of Ibrance are you on?
My acid is strictly a chemo thing. Had it last time and now. White bread, dairy, chocolate, tea. Comfort food. Not as bad as before but annoying. Need to drink sleepy time before bed. Just back to bad habits of sugar and caffeine to counteract fatigue. Doesnt help much. Will try the aloe. Can't hurt and it counts as a green veg?
Kids growing. Boy turned seven. Plays basketball. Wants to do soccer and track. She'll be four in March. Soccer too. Loves to run. Too little to competebut they let her practice. Would love dance or gymnastics but can't commit/conflicts with bball.
-
Thanks Mags! I looked at the Blue.... Might even order a recliner! They look like just what we want!
-
Good morning Ladies,
Lover - Have you checked out the healthypets.mercola.com website yet for some ideas on treating Mitzy's itchy skin? There are ideas for food changes and organic, gmo-free, soy-free products for sale as well.
Patty - have your husband bring you some of those squishy ear plugs. I always have them when I go to the hospital, just because of the noises inherent to a hospital. Of course they don't help with the nurses or phlebotomists waking you up all night. Do you have a nice fuzzy blanket from home to help comfort you while you're there?
sas - please don't get me about the nurses waking us up thing. I've been watching a series on the PBS station here in Oregon called "Mercy Street". It is about the humble beginnings of the nursing profession during the Civil War. This show is set in Alexandria, VA at a hotel that is taken over by the Union to be a hospital. When there are scenes of procedures and they show no one wearing gloves or them re-using syringes, no soap and water. Makes me shudder. It's a wonder anyone survived into the 20th century. And those poor nurses, what they dealt with! So grateful to be living in this century.
I have a friend who is a nurse at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. She went from 17 years in occupational therapy to nursing in her mid 50's and she's still working on furthering her degree.
Yeah the sun is shining and no rain today! I'm torn on whether to go out and work on that last little section of weeds or stay inside and sew. If only that was the most difficult decision we ever had to make, right?
-
Mags, Glad to hear that someone used Wayfair and liked the merchandise. That pale color would work with my living room. And the love seat is the right length. Our living room is fair sized but has 3 doors and a fireplace. Hard to find room for a sofa.
-
jazzy. Great idea about the ear plugs. Thanks ! Dh will come and bring dss tonight and I know we got some of those ear plugs at home. Will make him bring me some.
Zill - on Ibrance I take 100 mg on 2 weeks off 1 week. Glad you ave the energy to allow your kids to participate in those fun sporting games. I simply don't its not fair to my dss but it is what it is at this point. In school I partipated in every sports team. Kept me out of trouble and drug free.
Mags love that couch.
Still in hospital but feeling much better.
Hootie hoo
-
Yay, Patty for feeling better. There got to be a way to help you manage the side effects of Ibrance better. I wonder if it's cheaper for the insurance company to have home health available to you rather than having you in the hospital every few weeks exposing you to hospital bugs and more stress for you and family. We should have more house call doctors.
-
JunieB, I did read one article about allergies when you first suggested it, but forgot about the site. Thank you for the reminder. What do I do without you ladies? What was the name of the honey again? Need to search that. I read an article on mercola today about bathing pets with allergies and saw that shampoo with oatmeal should not be used in dogs with grain allergy. Not sure if she is allergic to other grains besides corn. ButYikes! I have been using oatmeal shampoo all these times.
-
patty have you tried a white sound machine , to drown out noise. There are apps you can downloaded as well. I am a light sleeper and find that helps. Except my dog fell off the bed last night and that would of woken anyone up. He looked a little dazed.
Susan we meet our renovator at ikea today and got lots of good ideas. Enjoy your project, planning is always the fun part.
We have no sun today, a little gloomy with flurries, but overall we have had a decent winter. I would love to winter in the southern states, but the Canadian dollar has taken a nose dive and we have to spend a 1.40 for every US dollar. We live close to the Rockies so we will head there for a few days, I also plan on going to Vancouver Island for a change of scenery.
Thank you for the warm welcome
-
Zill, little ones do keep us busy, don't they? They are such blessings though. Hope Ibrance is treating you kindly. Actually, for all you ladies who have to be on it, may you have good response with managable side effects.
-
I'm tired but no SEs like Patty. We only live about 10 min from town. Soccer and track are on the wish list for this spring if Ibrance and I can agree. I went down to 100 kicking and screaming but now wonder if 75 would be better. It's a balancing act.
I use Pandora on my phone for piano music to sleep by or rock to clean by. When I'm up to cleaning.
I've been doing the following flow to boost my white blood cells. We will see how successful I am on Thursday. My cancer center offers Jin shin Jytsu.
It feels like the hokey pokey but I swear by it. It's just lite touch on or near the specific points. It won't harm you. You might feel tingling in your fingertips or your stomach might gurgle or you might jerk. All normal. Move to next position every two minutes or sooner if uncomfortable.
Hopefully the SE will be you feel better. Not much else to do while in hospital bed except daytime tv👅 It's worth a try.

My practitioner wanted me to do it twice a day. Didn't make it but every few days.
-
Zills you sound like a very busy mom, it must be hard for you having to work around the side effects. Jin
Shin Jytsu sounds very interesting . Is it a form of mindfulness or is it exercise
-
Zills, thank you for bringing up the practice of Jin shin Jyutsu. It is quite an unfamiliar term, so I Googled. After looking at the short clip produced by Markey Cancer Center, I am interested to find out more about this ancient chi and pressure point practice.
