Hi everyone! I'm very happy i found this forum. I just told my doctor today that this is what will work best for me because i get to bond with people that share similar experiences and offer the support i need. I tried counseling before but i hate it when you Get to a trusting point with the counselor. ..really get going in a discussion then oops..your time is up. That's very frustrating. You are left hanging.

I hadn't been back on here because I've been getting some sleep thank God! My pain from my last surgery is gone. I just have some residual discomfort. But I'm so excited to be getting some better ready now that those bricks, i mean expanders are out of my body! Thank you all for the warm welcome and i pray you all find the comfort you are looking for in this forum.

    God bless!

    Hello chatty INSOMNIACS,

Sas, I had one serious fall when on was young, 25. I crossed the tips of my skis & went down a steep run on my chest. Busted up my collar bone & cracked numerous ribs. Both my shoulder surgeries appeared to be from repetitive use. I worked in the grocery buisness & threw freight. Played tennis 3-4 times a week for 20 years. Lots of physical yard work, also. Both surgeries had to be done, I could not lift my arm. It was one year ago since the last surgery. I did PT for 3 months trying to prevent the surgery.

Aw geez spookie.... I thought you were talking about me, when you were saying "Chev"...image Mine just took the regular 30/5 weight.... NOT the synthetic George had put in there, thinking it would be better! This was right before the oil cap blew off..... So I don't know what really started this.

See, I would get the notices of "things" that needed "fixed" due to recalls... But the boys said, just don't pay any attention to them.... And since my car was originally owned by a rental agency, THEY probably ignored them as well.

I NOW can see what the temperature is outside, from INside my car!! Now that isn't important to anyone ELSE I know, but I felt like I was "missing" something! JANIE'S told HER what the temp was! So never mind, having to walk out to the garage, and knowing full well if it was hot or cold, it wasn't ENOUGH! I had to have that "Ambient air temperature sensor" tell ME what it was outdoors!! Because I might have forgotten what it felt like, walking to the damn car! I saw the temp ONE day! So I knew I had one SOMEwhere!

THAT is what cost me more than an oil change!!! Hah! I know it's silly, but ..... Now watch.... when I go start the car next time, it won't be working..........! So I will ignore it being hot or cold, on my way into my car, and then be excited when my official "Ambient air temperature sensor" tells me what it actually IS!

Anyway I felt lucky I escaped with as little of a bill as I did....

The "boys" just thought all those notices were just a "ploy"... something to get my money... So people must "ignore them".... Because after all, THEY (the boys) can fix any car....! Same as routine physicals are just a ploy, so the Doctor's can make more money off of you.... (they think) So no routine physicals for "the boys".... because they are unnecessary.... because they can fix themselves if they get sick.

100 for $1???? That's cheaper than the Ambient air temperature sensor!

Morning Forward! Glad you came by! You will get your old mo-jo back one of these days... It's even in your NAME! "Moving Forward".... So you will......We can always have bouts of depression.... but we gotta get over them... it isn't good for the rest of you! Sorry about your little dog. I had to carry Lacee home from her walks sometimes... She just didn't want to go.... any further...

We finally just took her for shorter and shorter walks... Our friend carries her Cocker up and down their steps... He has that hip problem now... we just don't like for our beloved pets to have things wrong!

But we are there for them, as long as we have them.......

Jazzy, I love the bugs! Ha! They look like Praying Mantises???

Loverly, isn't that funny how our dogs just "know" when something is going on? They "sense" it... We had the WORST wind yesterday! Like 60 mph all afternoon, in some area's!

Now I need a wind gauge in my car... to go along with the thermometer... Ha!

Wait! "gillty" So what does this mean? You are not guilty of something are you? Okay.... fess-up.... You can talk to us anytime you want to... don't go talking to those strange counselors... She's probably sitting there with her legs-crossed, smoking a cigarette... with her glasses on, and taking notes on what you are telling her... then charging you $100 an hour. We can probably help you if you want to talk... Sometimes it just helps us feel like we aren't going nuts.... when we find others that have gone through the same thing.... honest! Another thing... when you get too much on your mind, you can't sleep right....

So when you start feeling better, you will sleep better... I think I'm on to something here.... take note.

HiHo.... Yikes! Bet you don't ski anymore! Nor throw around boxes! You guys just gotta learn... you can't DO things that will tear up your body! We don't think about it at the time... but looking back, I can see a FEW things I should have not done!

My Daughter had to have that rotator-cuff surgery... THAT was a real job trying to get over... WITH the physical therapy! But she had no choice...

Okay gals take care.... I have to go run see what my car says the temperature is outdoors... it's getting light out now....

Gilty- glad you found us and know from my own experience at the time of dx, through treatment and since, the people that get this the best are those that have gone through it. No one understands what it is like to go through this and the recovery period after, which for most, is a process of it's own. I found this place the month I was heading into surgery in 2012, and it was a safe place to talk without judgement, people asking too many questions, etc.

I think therapy is a good thing, but never even considered it during any of my journey, perhaps because of the reasons you stated. I know it has helped many women here to have that as a resource so I don't dismiss it's value either. We all have to figure out what helps us best during this. Everyone's case is different, support system is different, and needs are different.

We are here for information and support.

Loverly, good deal about Mitsy, Dogs behaviors are great for us. I said it was the nose or the hearing. Barometric pressure is the first thing they react too. Did you check that seismic thing. It would be fun to watch and track her behavior according to seismic activity. It might really help if she has certain cues that relate to shaking strength. Could be a life saver.

Dini couldn't care less unless the storm is bad bad. Schatzi alerts about 1/2-1 hour before the storm. Sky as far as you can see can be blue and she starts under my feet then pacing. Schatzi then hides. Under my moms old 1930 bed. The kind that has the wood frame. How she gets under???? But the whole bed has to be lifted to get her out. In storm season the routine includes shutting that door b/c it's hard for me to lift the bed. Now it would be impossible.

Susan I thought you were talking about me instead of Shelby............NSAID and tramadol. LOL She is such a cutie. 15 YAY........You sound really good :) Claire looks wonderful. When's the due date? Is the match out March 1st? What was DSIL's final three choices?

OH GLITYY, comfort what a treasure Whoopwhoopwhoop!. Here and everywhere on BCO you can find whatever need you have. I couldn't have survived these last seven years without it. If you want a few chuckles go back to the early days of this thread(before page 180). The first about 36 hours they're were 14 pages. Lot's of sleepless people It truly was an insomniacs thread. Sometimes I'd just talk to the chickens or the computer. Then I came here 24/7 when I was being stalked. Since I started the thread the Mods prevented the stalkers from bothering me. It was very cool. Safe haven. Must say I do believe in counselors. DH was dx'd essentially the same time as me. Could not conceive not having my Gary LSCW over the next years. Then kept him about every 3-5 weeks up till this last month. JUST in case. I have a tendency towards things happening. Only lost him now, b/c of insurance.

NETTIE hootiehoo, you pop in then go......???????

HI1 whew ski injuries. How did we ever survive the falls. Last time I skied, I was in a c-collar. Who skies in a c-collar? This guy got on the lift with me. He had a locking knee brace. I looked at him and said something like "Well we are a pair aren't we?" Okay, you are much more physically active than me. No sports activity now for me. Perhaps I can ride this out. Sounds nuts, but I'd rather let it freeze up a bit than risk surgery. Also, nuts is no sling b/c of fear of falling. Rather risk hurting the shoulder more than fall and not being able to at least try to protect my head. Stats on repeated head injuries and eventual development of dementia aren't good. You are an inspiration with all the tennis and golf.(shaking my head, never thought I'd be this much on the sideline.).........Any house updates? New pics? How are the kids? Haven't heard updates on them in quite awhile. Always love seeing pics and your sons white water rafting is thrilling :) How's DH's hip?

Spookie got the package, too bad. They're is a car guy on 96.5 fm out of Orlando. He described why Chevy auto co. stated that oil in the owner manual. They established the MPG on tests done with that oil. Then the government NHSTA(?), set new rules about how companies could rate cars on MPG. Rather than redo the tests Chevy decided to just publish it with the existing data. The car guy said that owners are having the same problem you are b/c of the owners manual saying about the oil thing. He said that regular oil will not hurt the car. The car guy is on Sunday mornings with a call in show. He may have more info for you. He's really nice. Has this really nice manner, like the Wobegone guy. Love his southern drawl.

SAS, DH is in a study of brain damage from head trauma. They did some testing that he thought was difficult. Today he's getting a head MRI. He won't get any individual results unless they find something like a tumor. I think it's connected to the football player problems.

Wren, did you see the movie Concussion, about the football players' brain injuries? It was quite interesting,, but rather sad.

Saw Concussion. Came away from it with high regards for the young player who walked away from his contract this year because of the risk factor and total dislike for the NFL because of there behavior in trying to cover it up and denial of the problem.

Agree, Kath,,,, there have been too many suicides already over these issues. That Dr was very brave to stick to his guns on this, and force the NFL to look at the problem.

Glennie & Kathie, Tell me how to find Concussion? Wish I knew how to stream movies. Dear nephew is here Sunday. He's a pro at it and skyping maybe..................Wasn't pleased with the first article I read about dementia and concussions back a few years ago. Family, at least on paternal side, strong in Dads generation for dementia. When I did the cancer tree, when I went to get the prophy work started, I circled all that had dementia or early warning signs. It was 8/10. Two had died before signs. That's the side that there are 25(6)/53 blood relatives with cancer. It was a sad moment looking at the tree.

There was a recent thing on the radio about a new study that a young researcher found a connection of Prolactin level post injury that can help define how serious the head injury was. Didn't try to find the study yet. Asked PCP to run prolactin level after last fall. She trusts my researching, but trying to get insurance coverage for head injury would be difficult b/c it's not mainstream yet. So, we decided not to try. The study, also, followed it for decreases to show improvement. Like tumor markers.

Interesting for the BC community is that Prolactin levels have been associated with BC. Again a loose connection b/c I haven't delved into it to get the particulars. Someday will.

Did delve into Chia seeds today. Great stuff. Check out the constipation thread for my comments.

    hi ladies.

I am back in the hospital, again. Ugh. Got here last night. Same ole junk. Uncontrollable vomiting, diahrea, and complete dehydration. Lots and f blood in urine according to lab. It took over 2 hours to get an V in me in the er. My veins are shot and my blood counts continue to e too low to get a port. Blaming Ibrance for low counts. They ended up doing amain line I think they called it. Kinda like a pic line. Worst experience in my life. Hours they tried nearly all parts of my body. They tried in my neck repeatedly and finally got it. It hurt like hell. I never complain or get anxious about needles or iv's but this was by far the worst. Now the IV keeps clogging. No idea what we will do iif goes bad. Not able to take anything b mouth due to vomiting. Grr. Feeling a lil stronger. Amazing what some fluids will do for feeling stronger.

    Hugs all around

    Hootie hoo

Ouchie, Patty! I hurt reading your post. I wonder if it's because you were so dehydrated that they couldn't find a good area for the IV. Have been thinking about you. Blood in the urine? Hopefully, it's UTI.

Ms. Sas, I promise No worries. Yes, I check the earthquake log every so often. The only significant shake this week was at 4.8 in Big Pine (about 300 miles southeast of us)

This is today's log so far.

    image

2.4 magnitude was the highest. Normal lately for us. We are 100 miles east of where the baby blue balloon (San Francisco) is, right in between two mountain ranges. The ring of fire has been busy. Okay, before I bore everyone to pieces....

oh Patty. I was so hoping you were in your high heels toasting marshmallows. Hunting for an iv is no fun. Haven't had the neck yet but the feet are pretty ouchy too.

I'm on ibrance, same as Patty and Susan. Had to wait an extra week for counts to go up but then they don't check them, just assume. Felt good earlier in week, almost like a high, got some things done but slowly crashing. So counts must be creeping down. Have two weeks left in this round and plans to take kids to indoor water park. Told to eat the rainbow and exercise (walking for me). Nothing else will help the counts go up except time.

I'm on Pepcid for acidy stomach due to Ibrance. Think aloe will help?

Love the dog stories. Missed the antique glass discussion. Good therapists are hard to find and never available when you need them (middle of night, weekends, holidays).

    Past my bedtime. Hootie hoo.

Patty- I am so sorry to hear you are back in the hospital. You are having a time of it, but glad they could get a needle in. I shudder at the thought of it because I have had bad experiences with IVs and shots in the stomach when in the hospital. The whole thing stinks and I am just wishing you to feel much better and be home.

Sending you love and comfort on this Friday evening.

Patty, oh sweet, Patty pooper, you'll laugh at that, perhaps not others. I'd rather hear your laugh. Total chit. Been there with patients in your scenario. Staff was distressed as you. Guarantee they went home and thought about you and how you were doing and lost sleep. Not just sleep, but that's to disheartening to describe.

Oh baby, hate that you have this chit going on. You really need to think about the Fecal transfer. PULEESE. You are doing so good on the Ibrance. Your hospital may not be familiar with it. BUT it doesn't mean it can't happen. Plus, when we talked the last time and I said you most likely knew symptoms 2-3 days before. You said you did. You are a pro now at this. Everyone's going to hate me for this. But you need to accept you are the PRO. Yeah, if it caught you off guard, okay. But not letting you off the hook if you saw it coming and didn't counter it.

The clue to ignoring symptoms that you know will lead to the same old hospital admission--------think IF I ignore this, I have less time with DH, DSS#1, and DS#2
