INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

got 2 1/2 hours sleep. Yeahhhhh me.
Rosie, appt to make cookies with my mom. She was in tears last week cause she couldn't remember. Darn alztimer. Gotta be early cause she is in Chicago, and don't want to be in rush hour on way home, and best to avoid the brother and get out of dodge before he gets home from work.
I am sure I will sleep early tonight. Which is sad, cause kids come home tonight.
-
Susan- sorry to hear about your mom. Hugs and get some rest today after your apt, so you can enjoy the family this evening!
-
Susan: let us know how the cookies went? (trying to feel Christmassy myself)
-
Loverly, Whooohoo nice price. I'm sure I paid itty bit for her originally. I just new she was rare. I'd snap that one up from Replacements.com. They are asking 16$ I think.
Susan , sorry about your Mom.
-
DD is about to explode, she got word today her quilt has been accepted at a national show in Daytona in Feb. Smaarty are you doing this one?
-
WOW!! Beautiful !!
-
Susan- Maybe you should ask your onc for a sleeper. Getting 2.5 hours and driving in traffic isn't safe. You could nod off. My Mom has dementia and it's heartbreaking. I hope the baking goes well. seeing them decline is so hard. I have decided that the Mom I knew has passed and now we are caring for her body. It's sad. DH and I just paid for and ordered Christmas dinner and a carrot cake from Publix to be sent to them. Publix in Florida is a very nice grocery store, nice bakery and good quality. I hope they like it.
I got the doxil yesterday and was a little nauseous zofran kicked it. The thing that is alarming is the sudden edema in my feet and ankles and shins. I couldn't get my shoes on to take something to the trash. That's when i noticed it. They did an echo before I got it and output was ok. Don't know. They took me off the diuretics.. might have to go back on. My back hurts endlessly.. ugh.. if it's not one thing it's something else.
Jazzy- congrads on the contract. Running your business is an exceptional amount of work. My Dad and brother own their own business or it owned them. Haha.. Hope things go well. The Italian posts are pretty funny.
Spookie-ohh the quilt is gorgeous.
Be well. Patty are you home and finished shopping?
-
I am still waiting for the pictures that didn't come out on page 1072, Ms. Chevy. Heehee
Susan, posted this on W&F. It was meant for you. Tough situation you are in with family.
-
This is the only piece I have that's close. Didn't want to take it out because of all the stemware in front, I'd surely drop and break something.
Hey sassy, I've been researching mycotoxicosis. I know our last two houses have had mold, and I was never sick before
-
spookie, beatutiful quilt. No, have never tried a national show. Don't think any of mine are good enough for that. I'm too lazy to be perfect!
Susan, going to DD tomorrow to do cookies too! Haha
-
baking went well. I was surprised when I would ask for flour or whatever she found it. Very small kitchen and very few cabinets, so she would look and find quickly. Had no idea how to put anything back. Then we had to deliver to neighbors...so cute. Left a long letter there for my brother, airing out some feelings. We will see how that went over...ha ha
Rosie, I have sleeping pills, took one last night...hate it when I waste a pill
. Too much running through my head.
Got results from ct scan of stomach and pelvis. Having lots of trouble there. Everything came back clear. No cancer there
My doc is an odd duck...I asked him what he thinks is causing all these problems....he said...I am happy to say I have no idea. You need to see a gi specialist.
So off I go to my gi gal. I hate not knowing what is going on but happy to say I am not going anywhere yet. My hubby is still stuck with me for awhile
I pray that all that are ailing are feeling a bit better today.
God bless
Love you guys

Spookie, nice to see you. On Tues this week I got the info you mailed-- postmarked October 27th. (the Humana info). 2 1/2 hours apart and it took 49 days to get here. Needless to say I stuck with Health First, as your comparision material arrived after the deadline. Thanks for making the effort putting the different insurance companies together
Jazzy, I picked up an old album for Steve. Do you recognize Art Tatum? It's from the Pablo Jazz Classics Solo Masterpieces Vol.1. Did I do good? Also, a Doors album and Frank Sinatra 40-50's. have fun with the new client
Mags, interesting sorry on the computer work, tough hours though. I did that length of hours (12-16) 2008 b/c my company had a sucky software and computers for Homecare. Sucked. I was looking for a new job when BC was dx'd. The HR dept. was great. My old boss wasn't. But HR was stronger, so, it ended well. Did you ever have a fall?
Smarrty, DS doing okay today.
Just and FYI to everyone. Speaking to an individual on their thread is outside the bounds of anyone to object too. In 6 years I've never seen it happen. If it were to happen I would go the Mod route. It's inconceivable to me that it would happen. Only making this statement b/c several have expressed concern. It's different than usual Stage4 threads.
Loverly, I went back and looked at Mayflower by Indiana. Made me think that Indiana may have purchased the molds. But I couldn't find anything. Doesn't mean it's not true. I just couldn't locate it. Sounds crazy that I would spend so much time scrolling patterns. It's a hobby. I respect glass allot. The USA was the leader for a couple of centuries in production and design. Very little glass is made here now. It will never happen again. I feel like I'm saving pieces from oblivion. I'm guessing many other collectors feel the same. Plus, the trend now and predicted for the future is that the younger generations aren't into fine china, silver, crystal, glass. They aren't into possessions. They are into life experiences. Putting the two concepts together 1. all(most all) of our production of china, silver, crystal, glass will never happen again and 2. it's not valued by the youngers, doesn't bode well for preservation. My Macy's replaced their fine china , glass, silverware with suitcases. UGH. OH my....suitcases for the youngers to go on their life experiences with............Just made that connection.
I didn't like allot of the Thousand Eye pieces, but I like the girls LOL. I didn't like allot of the Mayflower pieces either
. But if you get into thrifting remember my Mantra 1. if you like it, 2. the price is right(barter), you have a use for it, 3. you've never seen it before---BUY IT
You will always be happy with the purchase.
-
Susan, This is the first real period of Insomnia that I remember you having? I was looking through my cards for your address. Then thought well I'll just call. Duh no phone number. Then the Ah-hah moment--you are in the ring binder. Only one LOL. Your own place on the shelf with the cookbooks. Warm and cozy with the soup books, Hershey's chocolate, and so many others
Everyone, When Kristine passed, we wanted to do a contact thing. Jwoo and 2nd were going to keep the record. Problem is they aren't here. I had Blondie's info from STFU days.
We are all here b/c of BC. We stick together. When someone leaves without warning it is distressing when no one has contact info. We all here on IT, blow off BC to a degree. It's not understood by all. But we get it. Those that join us get it. But when folks leave without warning like Marley and Ziggy. They're is a hole in our life.
Please, chose someone to have your info
-
Spooks: that is really pretty. Will you be going to the show?
-
probably. The way my lumbar is tonight I can barely stand, much less walk. DH said he wants to go, that means me drive. NOT! I hate his car. He also wants to check for train store. How thrilling!!
-
Chevy would love to see your glass
Your statement " I never had a CLUE as to what the women in his family were talking about...." That is so true, different cultures. I wonder what they thought of you? Do you know? My MiLl was from a totally different cultural background. She hated me. It was awful.Until my Sil came along, then she got marginally better.
I was trying to find pattern names for someone here long ago. Said I wouldn't fail and then, alas, I did.
Spookie send my Congrats to DD. If you come for the show put me on the list. You can do RR here.
Mags, It's close, very close. Gold rim? I see a bit of one. Your's has a purple flower. Mine is only in shades of pink. Plus, the random flower in the middle and a white flower at the center top left. But that looks like an oblong serving piece. Sometimes serving pieces were different. Anyways it's very pretty. Is the base plate creamy very light beige? Makes me think I should look at Syracuse again. I did the Bamboo search for you long ago didn't I, LOL. Lovely collection. If I remember correctly, your parents brought them back from Japan. Did I get that right? When Orrefors transformed the glass market years agomaybe a couple decades now. Boring glasses. No definition, no stem definition. Typical Target or Walmart. The first thing when thrifting I look at the stem. Then the bowl. Then color.
Mycotox sucks. Lots of bad stuff. Can't be picked up by standard screening. Has to be grown in a special lab. Takes weeks and maybe even more weeks. Horrible to get rid of. I do all kinds of stuff here to prevent mold. Not easy since they're is a mold that's adapted to growing on the northside where the sun doesn't get too. AND we have mold that's adapted to growing in the sun. Then the mold that likes damp. Then dirt mold. I looked at the microbiome of the human body this summer.
Try keywords "microbiome and mycotoxicosis" or "Mycotoxicosis prevention and Microbiome". Serious Microbiome research is only about 15 years old. Research has been done for decades, but NIH has only gotten seriously into supporting the research recently. It's going to revolutionize everything. Just to late for us. But still you might find something.
Obviously, you are suspicious of something. Share?

Hi everyone!! I've seen some of ya'll on Patti's thread and I wanted to pop in and say hi. Merry Christmas ya'll!!
-
I'll write more tomorrow.... but Sass, his family just didn't like me because he was the "oldest" Son.... and actually he was raised by his Aunt.... His folks couldn't afford him... so he moved with his Aunt, Uncle, Cousin and Grandpa when he was in high-school.... His folks moved like 6 times after I met him....
But I was not Italian.... their main problem.... nor was I Catholic.... I was just a young Irish girl, in love with "their boy".... My folks had moved to California... I was living with my Grandma.... for over a year, until we got married....
I loved Sally Anne.... His cousin.... She was a little older, and knew how much we loved each other.... Those old Italians were just possessive.... They stuck with each other.... and MAN did they talk LOUD! Ha! I got along with them all, but his Aunts... 4 of them.... were just mean little sneaky Italian women.... Didn't get much help from his Mom either.... same thing.... I was an outsider... and I was so naive, and quiet, and didn't have my own folks, and I just wanted to fit in.
We mostly were on our own.... and that's all I wanted.... my own little family. Got pregnant after 3 months.... I thanked GOD it didn't happen sooner... I know there is a reason for everything..... I think because of all that, and just us two making it work, playing house, is why we are still here together....
We wanted to make our "own" life, our way.... and not be like our families.... and we did it!
-
Don't know if I've ever seen a train store in Daytona.
-
There probably isn't. Pretty scarce in Fl. Just something else for him to bitch about.
-
I have one of the these....
And this.......
They probably aren't worth much, but they were "Mom's"....
-
More than you may think. Cranberry glass is worth a bunch to collectors, and that's probably yellow depression glass.
-
Mags when I said the microbiome research is going to revolutionize everything, but just to late for us. Not too too late for us. Science recognized Penicillin in 1937+ -. That was the beginning of modern understanding of an organism that helped to control a problem. Historical identification of the same thing goes back thousands of years. Science of the last couple centuries has only caught on and learned. The learning curve hasn't been easy because too much was negated from history. Plus the hubris that control had been achieved. The "bugs" are adept at adapting
Much learning has already occurred in these last few years. What I see as the future of understanding the microbiome and the body, is like the attempt at understanding the universe. We are learning. Then the learning has to be applied. My hope is that we don't screw it up like we did with the modern age Penicillin and other antibiotic fiasco caused by shortsightedness.

Yay Susan for the clear CT! So it could be either a GI or GYN problem then?? Crazy how worrying can rob you of your sleep and peace. Could you believe I forgot my appt with MO this afternoon? That's what happens when I try to minimize my stress...I forget about the important things instead. I am such an air-head lately.
I like the cranberry wine glass, Ms. Chevy.
-
Ms. Sas, the thought of thrifting is very tempting. I know myself. With the OCD I could easily become like this..
My goal is this...
I know, I know, it is just as crazy and wrong (as Rose put it)to have a house this neat.
-
the bottom one is my goal,,, continuing to declutter,,,,
-
it would be nice......
