Sassy, that's actually pidgin Hawaiian. I should know the Polish offhand, it's DHs family's language. I'll think of it.

I never was much of a Newman fan, but I'd take one of these any day.

I actually thought it meant Merry Christmas in Hawaiian. What does Pidgin mean? Love learning a new word every day.

    Dsgirl, you're right

A pidgin /ˈpɪdʒɨn/, or pidgin language, is a grammatically simplified means of communication that develops between two or more groups that do not have a language in common: typically, a mixture of simplified languages or a simplified primary language with other languages' elements included. It is most commonly employed in situations such as trade, or where both groups speak languages different from the language of the country in which they reside (but where there is no common language between the groups). Fundamentally, a pidgin is a simplified means of linguistic communication, as it is constructed impromptu, or by convention, between individuals or groups of people. A pidgin is not the native language of any speech community, but is instead learned as a second language.[1][2] A pidgin may be built from words, sounds, or body language from multiple other languages and cultures. They allow people who have no common language to communicate with each other. Pidgins usually have low prestige with respect to other languages.[3]

Not all simplified or "broken" forms of a language are pidgins. Each pidgin has its own norms of usage which must be learned for proficiency in the pidgin.[4]

P.S. I'm flat on my back this weekend. What I caught from my cousin is now an upper respiratory infection. Cough suppressant, expectorant, vitamin C, and chicken soup. Pierogis tonight. DH's comfort food. Omd I am so bored.

Mags- I am sorry you are sick. Do you have Netflix? How about some Xmas movies to watch? Nothing to make you laugh too hard though, as laughing goes to coughing when you are sick!

Whew, I just finished the last of my personal Xmas cards and also all my biz cards today. Done with cards for 2015, well except the thank you notes I need to send for gifts after the holidays.

OK I'm back. For those of you who like Rick Steves travel programs on PBS you will just love the European Christmas one I just finished watching. Hope they will replay it in the next 2 weeks.

Bras - HaHa. I just sent about 15 to Goodwill, well washed. I think they take that stuff. Underwires from presurgery I found hiding in storage boxes under the bed. I'm wearing cheapy bras from WallyWorld. No shape but I really don't care. Comfy is my motto.

Wacky weather - chance of severe storms overnight with maybe a slight tornado risk. We had a few days of winter otherwise this week has felt like spring. Looked up Phyllis. She's getting snow. Mags looks like you're in the "spring" weather too. Read some chasers are out today, tornadoes today, snow tomorrow.

Rosie - so true about terriers. I buy those flattie things that only have crinkly paper inside. Even then I have to watch any little attachments because dog will chew them off 1st. DH cannot abide squeaky toys just barely tolerate the crinkly ones. How he ever survived having a child I just don't remember but ours was not a screamer particularly or really even very noisy.

Mema - You're going to need a mighty shelf for green trunked elf lol

Love that Ten Tenors clip Jazzy. Loverly you can google "top tracks ten tenors" and it will give you a couple of longer playlists that will play thru. Not sure if there are any solely with Christmas music.

Looks like no cataract surgery any time soon for me. Glaucoma doc says I'm doing great - which is good - but he would want to do combined cataract and another glaucoma surgery together. But I don't need any more glaucoma surgery any time soon. So in the meantime I just can see well because of the cataracts. Complaining to him got me exactly no where. I may have to get optometrist to work on glasses to help this next year even if they cost me a bundle. Meanwhile I don't see him again for almost 5 months.

I have got to send out some Christmas cards. I'm just not good at writing them and procrastinate until it's too late. Only send a few to old friends, mostly mine from college, early working days.

Mags - sorry you are so puny. I see ABC Family has a bunch of old Christmas cartoons - Dr. Seuss on at 5. Seems most of the movie channels (DirecTV) are playing stuff other than Christmas, lots of Halloween - go figure or shoot-em-ups. Uggg.

Thank you Jazzy for the tutorial. I can once again insert you tube links. Cary Grant singing to his newborn daughter.

If you like Cary Grant (who doesn't like Mr. Suave) watch "People Will Talk".

I've often wanted to see "The Bishop's Wife" but just never seems to come on at the right time.

Thank you, Jazzy. I am tech challenged and a fuddy duddy. This is an old video, but a good laugh. Hope it works. Sorry Mag if you get a coughing spell with this. Coughing is good though(unless it hurts or you pee in your pants) to get all the gunk out so you don't get pneumonia.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. For some reason, when I'm feeling puny I don't want to watch videos – sensory overload or something. Also, doc increased my pain meds so I'm just in a fog. It's just as well, though. I look at FaceBook on my iPad, and when it redraws the page I've already forgotten everything I just read. I put my Christmas playlists on my phone, so I've got like a thousand Christmas songs, everything from Bing Crosby to the von Trapp children to Enya, and all of Mannheim Steamroller. I set it to shuffle and scroll through FaceBook. Just kidding about being bored, that would take more brain power than I have now.

High today 70°, low of 52°. Overcast.

Good morning and happy Sunday !! You have snow and we have heavy wind. The wind causes our large plastic silver bells that we hung on our front door flap against it making a sound similar to knocking. Spooked Mitzy because she thought someone was outside making noises. Woke me up hours early than usual. The girl can sleep through thunder and lightning, but wind scares her. She is such a nut case...poor thing. Now she is barking like crazy. Got to go

chevy. Stay off your icy side streets. Surely you can miss one night making the moolah.

Holenone thank you so much for the peanuts cards. 👑 😂 II am sending longer p.m. later.

Queeny - rest up. Sleep is good for your body to heal.

Lovely. - as always I come in here and try to catch up. I always see one of your pictures fairly soon. It akwasys puts a smile on my face

Love all the pics from everyone on here. What a easy to start the day. I especially like... The Santa coming here pics!

SAS.. Yours are a little older than what I would know. Lol I bet Chevy did. Actually I seen at least or more people did too. Lol did anyone take you upon n the tsst of home offer yet ? If so I would love it. Used to get their books every month when I first lived on m own and started cooking

Mags - get well - rest up sleep is best

Jazzy. Seriously, is that all of your snow? I thought you lived in New Mexico. Didn't realize that they had snow there.

As for me, I'm feeling better. Had a rough few days but doing much better. Dh took the tree down from the attic last night and the boys put it together while we watched. and then tonight I guess we're going to get the ornaments and lights and stuff. Plannibg on watchin videos of our past Christmases. It is family tradition but I dot know that I could set thru it and not cry...or the break down and sob. Happy happy times. Gotta keep focusing on the here and now. The PRESENT !!! Worrying can not change the past or future. Gotta feel the right now. And right now : I am focusing on getting tree and lights and such up. Listening to Christmas music ( mostly my peanuts music ds's or gospel ) watching. Videotaping , and writing about happyhow it makes me to see my dss and dh laugh. Open mouth , loud laugh not a chuckle ,talking with friends and appreciative of their support, reminig to pay forward this kindness. , making cookies ( shh OK they are premade just gotta spoon and bake them. Shh). The present is my focus !

Hugs all around and hoping you also are feeling the "present "

    Hootie hoo

Jazzy and Chevy Yay snow. Here I had to put on long pants and a sweatshirt the last few day. Birdwatching was fun. Donnie was interested in learning names. My fav today was the Hooded Merganser.

Loverly, forgot to ask, oe maybe did and forgot the answer. How did Mitsy do from her spell in the kennel?

Patty, okay girl it's yours. I already have your address :) We are putting up more lights today too! Yay for the moment :)

Yay, Patty for the moment and the break(hopefully big) from misery.

Thank you MS. Chevy for the cute video. Showed it to family this morning at breakfast and we all had a good laugh.

It's raining now. On our way to church...

    image

Taking Mitzy along with us. She will be a mess if we leave her. Traffic is slowing down now. Hopefully, we don't have another accident. We had a bad one the other day. FedEx truck hydroplaned, crossed the devider and went into oncoming traffic. One person lost his life. I was stuck in traffic and was 2 hours late for work. Life is short. I need to appreciate the time i have here. BB

Patty- yes, we get snow here in north Central NM. We are considered "high desert" so we get seasons like many other parts of the country. Many folks think our winter weather is like Phoenix, but that is low desert.

I love snow, grew up with it back east and plan to snow shoe this winter!

lover, don't you love all the rain?! Wishing it wasn't so windy. I got the tree all decorated and some presents wrapped. Got to finish that today.

This weather will clear up by 2 pm so that means a really nice morning for DGS to get to the hospital. It would kill him to go out in this kind of weather. Last day to worry about it. Keeping fingers crossed that everything goes well and he won't be in pain hell anymore. It's hard to live with 8-10 levels all the time.
