E- good for you. It's all about the chemistry, I think. Sending mojo .
-
Good luck with counseling, Eileen. Don't be shy about finding the right person.
-
Herceptin done for today, five more to go! I will be so glad when these infusions are done
-
Good luck, Eileen.
I probably could use some counseling too but I have never found a counselor I felt helped me. The one I am taking my kids to seems really good, though. Too bad I can't see her.
-
Yay, T! On the home stretch!
-
Thanks Katy. And heading out for a bike ride in a minute. Nurse practitioner today asked me if I had a co-pay to see her because she checks me out before any infusion. I asked why and she said well if you do, I really don't need to see you before each visit, you never have any issues. I laughed and said out of pocket for the year has been satisfied, so I will still plan to meet with you before infusions. Guess that's a good thing.
On the counseling, I've been thinking about that and quite honestly, how lame a lot of counsellors are. I have a couple of breast cancer women I text with online, and we go back and forth about our fears, issues, etc. I think they honestly help me more than any counselor ever would. The reason I say that is a woman sitting next to me had all the complaints, nausea, constipation, you name it, and I so wanted to jump in and start helping her with suggestions because I realize the nurse practitioner was quoting the standard of care bs, nothing outside the box. It made me realize that if you haven't been through the process, you may know what to say in theory, but you will never get how it feels. I have one online buddy in particular in New York, and her perspective comes from a similar but different point of view, and I learn stuff from her all the time, not just about physical issues but also mental ones. And she can calm me down way more than any therapist because she gets it. We talk about kids, life experiences, pooping, exercise, coconut oil, supplements, everything. And our fears. It is like having an anonymous person to talk to so I can say whatever I need to with no judgment.
And I recently had a phone call with our wonderful Katy, and I loved it. We talked about a lot of our stuff, and that phone call was so beneficial I can't even explain it.
Love you my sister Katy!
-
Alison. I just about peed myself when I read that! Just keep your connection to us handy. We wi save you.
Eileen, great move. I've seen them in the past, when stuff that happened in my marriage came back to bite me! Once I found the right one, it was amazing how quickly it helped. go with your instinct.
-
Thanks T! Likewise.
I've got my hands in the metaphysical dishwater today.
Albondigas soup made with leftover bone broth and grass-fed, no hormone beef.
Fresh cilantro and mint from the garden.
-
The powder tastes quite good. A naturopath put me on to it years ago to help with my restless legs. It's also helped me with constipation - but not during chemo.
I'm lying in my new to me campervan. in a caravan park. I didn't sleep well, but it's so nice to be away for a night or 2. I'm hoping to escape often.
Here's a picture of my poptop van. I've decided she's a girl. Who wants a boy on a girls weekend!!! Anyway I need a name, any suggestions?
-
Sharon! Freedom! I need to get you a comfy quilt for your bed in there. Have a great time!
-
Sharon, send inside pictures. I love camper vans!
-
TThanks guys. Here's the freedom machine
-
and the door handle on the cabinet doubles for a bottle opener... ask me how I know!
-
Very nice!
-
ok, I'll bite. How do you know?
Here's the finished lunch product. Today's food porn
Albondigas !!!
-
yum. That looks great. I'm just about to have eggs benediction
I forgot mine. I had a bottle of cider that I couldn't open. So I searched the van for a solution. It worked very well.
-
Sharon, so cute! I love camping, you will have great adventures in your new camper van. Still thinking on names
-
-
well my food porn tonight will be sushi, courtesy of Jimbos, a local health food store. You guys are making me hungry
-
thanks Theresa I'm hopeless at picking names.
My breakie is from a paleo health food shop. I love sushi! Might put it on my lunch menu.
-
Sharon I LOVE YOUR VAN.
-
Personally, I think the van is a boy, and you should name him Van Gogh (not original, I know)
If you really think it's a girl, then I suggest Vivian, which means "life".
Lynne
-
Good suggestions Lynn- maybe Van Gogh was bi? Love that name.
Sharon- brekkie looks perfect! Managing a poached egg in an unfamiliar camp stove is IMPRESSIVE!
We need you to take a selfie please! Can you hear the chant?
Sel-Fie! Sel-Fie! Sel-Fie!
-
Linda, you crack me up! Sounds like something that'd keep me up at night too!
I think counseling is wise. If nothing else, they can give us practical ways to get through some of our worries and feelings.
I have an interview next week for contract work. It's unstable and scary, but my fear of recurrence and the unknown has finally been surpassed by my need for less stress and the hope that I can find meaning in my work again. Fingers crossed and say prayers.
Cancer is so weird. I feel even more driven to live the best life that I can now and to pursue happiness, but I so often feel paralyzed by the fear that it'll come back and that I won't have job security, etc. to fall back on. I'm tired of feeling like a hamster in a wheel - I've exhausted myself by running around, but I then realize I haven't gone anywhere. Again, it's the burden of survivorship.
-
Lee, everything is crossed. Good luck.
So I had my therapy appt on Wed, repeat appt next Wed. Yesterday the therapist called to tell me she's got a family emergency & is leaving the practice. Wait, what? Did my session lead to her rethinking her life choices & deciding that she was so over listening to people? Did I break her?
-
Eileen, I made an appointment with a marriage counselor and the exact same thing happened. I was bummed because a good mc is hard to find but in retrospect my friend who recommended her is notorious for thinking everyone e is great. It is frustrating when you invest your time in someone to have that happen but I guess it is better it didn't happen 2 or 3 month in. I am sure it wasn't you.😀
-
Sharon love that van and the freedom is represents!
Katy-thks for the card and food porn:) You brightened my day!
I have magnesium but it isn't the expensive type, just Nature Made or something. Is that adequate Theresa or do I need a particular brand/strength?
Getting ready to start the Naltrexone this week. Hoping for a positive effect..
Eileen-not all therapists are created equal. I know quite a few and many are great people but have pretty messed up lives and I can't imagine paying them for therapy! I say follow your instincts/maybe a meet and greet before committing?
Lee-good luck with the interview. I understand the paralysis from fear and fight to break through it every day.
Trying to catch up with you all but I've been working a lot lately and now my daughter and boyfriend are here until the 29th. So nice to have life in the house:)
-
Diane, whatever form works for you is a good form
-
Lynne. I like Van gogh, it is the front runner. Thanks.
Lee, good luck! I keep getting anxiety, which I've never suffered from before. I feel like every time I go to do something new I have a panic attack and have to rationalise the situation. Driving an old van has caused me masses of unfounded anxiety. What if.... all the f...en time.
No sefie sorry katy. And I didn't make breakie. I bought it 😊
-
or if you want to femininize van gogh you could do Vanna Go-Go.
