Jazz, in February.
-
Smarty- how exciting! Something so exciting to look forward to next year!
They say when you loose something to start cleaning. Today I pulled off some slip covers from the couches in the LR and after the load was done, out popped a battery I was unloading. Where did that come from? Well, it was associated with a remote I have not been able to find for awhile but must have been stuck down in the folds. Not only did I find the missing remote, I washed it! LOL!
-
Smarty, Great news! I can hear your sewing machine whirring amidst a sea of pink already. I'm jealous. All my GS were boys.
-
Rose, I tried...not even close eh? Next time I'm in Davis, I will look for the house with the wood stained door and green shutters....and you said 3ft chain link fence with Ladybank roses woven around it? Yes, Davis is a neat city with great schools. I like the feel of the community. I have two friends who live there who tried to recruit us to move to Davis, but hubby will not move...homes too pricey.
Jazzy, you did what??? HahaHahahah. Last week I found a detergent cap with my washed laundry. I guess I must have thrown the cap in along with the detergent.
Ms. Smaarty, yay for a great-grand daughter. She will be spoiled by GGm
-
Life- that is right, I WASHED one of the remotes. I will put new batteries in it later and see if still works (LOL!)
I saw this on FB and thought I just HAD to post it here. Replace Ideas for A Screenplay with Ideas for a Band, and I am so there.....
-
Jazz, DH washed his phone once. Put it out in the sun all day, it worked!!!!
-
Loverly- yep when we left my DH said "say goodbye, cause we can't ever afford to move here again!" He was right, prices went skyward. We bought the place when the prices were really reasonable. Wish I kept it. The community there is wonderful.. so many things to do with kids, community pools, parks and things through the University. We spent sunny afternoons at the arboretum, biked every where, since it's flat. We belonged to the Co-op lots of fresh food anda little work, meeting folks. Tons of nifty little resturants, book stores and shopes. You can walk every where. The schools are great unless you happen to be deaf and autistic/MR then they suck. That was the entire reason we moved to Oregon. We loved the Quaker Meeting and would bike there on Sunday mornings with our kids in a bike trailer. It is expensive because anyone with kids wants the safety and schools. The only really awful thing about Davis was their water! It was salty and just the worst! We bought bottled water first week we moved there. You couldn't even make coffee with it, nasty! Good for growing tomatoes.

I still call it a pound sign.
🎶HEATwave🎶
-
They're both yucky
-
I don't understand all this hashtag stuff anyway. What is the point? #idontunderstand I see that kind of crap all the time.
Still a pound sign to me. TicTacToe!
More rain expected here, and roof is leaking. Oh, joy.
-
Glennie- the hashtag/pound stuff is related to Twitter and the "tweets." I am on several social media sites, but don't tweet. It is definitely more oriented to the younger crowd and also VERY big in the tech world too.
I was at a tech event here a couple weeks ago and while people were presenting their pitches around their start ups, there was a big screen to the right showing all the tweets and people's opinions about each thing that was happening. Most comments were very positive, but still very distracting when people are standing up, nervous enough, etc. Should we not be listening to these bold entrepreneurs and not watching everyone's real time opinions? I did a conference up in Silicon Valley last fall and it was the same way.

No social media for me, just BCO. I would get myself in trouble with FB or Twitter.
Goats, how is hubby? Did you get your answer for Halcion? I think Ms Sas is resting her brain
-
I don't do FB for a lot of reasons. I do hang on a few other forums. That's enough for me.
-
I use DH's facebook account but mostly to read what friends have been up to. Neither of us post. I read one eagle page that required me to join FB but again no posting. I have a Twitter account but use it here on PC. Gets weather stuff/tornado, local TV, local scanner that does fire, police, accidents. Just for that kind of stuff. Again no posting. For some unknown reason I have 2 people "following" me. HaHa they've not getting any jollies or tidbits.
Thanks for asking about DH Loverly. Tooth is back to its steady state. Goes for 3D xray on Thursday. Looks like Sassy has been playing mostly on W&F.
I made more black currant iced tea yesterday. It was very late afternoon so DH got the 2nd glass I would have normally had. He thought it was quite good. I ordered 80 Yorkshire Gold teabags on his Amazon order. And surprise I did find a good bag of coffee put away. Katz is a roaster out of Houston. I found some caramel. Might have iced coffee later.
Sassy - DH is going for some endodontal surgery in 3 weeks. Clean out under his root canal site that keeps re-infecting. Hoping this will save the tooth. His pre-op med is Halcion given in the office 1 hour b4 the procedure. Weird I thought, might have thought Valium. He's never taken anything like that. As far as I know no benzos ever even for procedures. My bad I just read that Halcion is a benzo and used by many dental practices. Learn something new every day. Anything I should be wary of. Of course I'm the designated driver.
-
No heat wave here:
-
Amnesia just like Verced's because they are both short acting benzodiazepines. Halcion is extensively metabolized by liver, so possible DDI with other rxs that are broken down similarly. Was it you or hubby who has glaucoma (closed)?
-
Hi folks, LMG didn't know halcion was a benzo, but it was dropped from hospital use decades, at least 4 decades) ago b/c people did weird stuff. Hated the drug. Your right he should be on Valium. Guessing it has been in dentist protocol for decades. Once somethings in a protocol, it's difficult for them to move on. Valium a safer drug. Was DH weird on Halcion? Be pushy and get them to change.
I;ve been off b/c I'm bummed. DB has had complications since Fri, Readmitted on Sat. His surgeon went out of town Fri. Just as an FYI in a surgical situation when something goes wrong, when the main surgeon is gone the covering surgeon will maintain therapy needed, but will not go back in and fix the problem. Unless they are crashing. surgeons don't like to jump into someone else's mess b/c then it becomes part of ' who's responsible for what'
Poor DB has been through hell this week end. The situation should have been handled. Saturday. F&^K how much damage has been done, because of lack of early intervention. Must admit I helped to a degree. They were only watching hi Hgb & Hct. Based on history He had a heparin product. At admission he had severe bruising way above normal. Nephew sent pic by email. I asked for platelets to be done. Admitting platelets were 114, precipitous drop from preop 158, and POD#2 of 132. Platelets shouldn't be that low on POD4. They have been coming up daily and now are 204.
The danger here is the knowledge of the heparin used is in the other chart b/c he was d/c and then readmitted. He almost immediatedle had an angiogram to check what was going on. Problem is the equipment is prepared with heparin. AND today's procedure the equipmemt will be prepared with Heparin. The procedure could be a success, yet IF he has a drug reaction to the heparin. It could be 'hidden' b/c lack of connection to the preveious admission and the minimal use of preparing the equipment.
Each exposure to heparin if it's the problem will cause a greater problem. So, procedure successful, but very severe complications could occur. It's called HIT Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia. Dangerous Dangerous. complication. His wife's aware and nurse now with all the facts. I can only sit and wait.....can make one more phone call
-
Wren: I want your weather.
-
Ahhh...nice Wren!!! Rub it in. I'm jealous
-
So sorry Ms. Sas. I have been thinking about you and your brother. Was worried when I hadn't seen you chatting like your usual self. Hopefully, it's not HIT
-
Well, made the call (several). Got to the recovery area. Everyone cooperative. The dots are connected. Now just wait.
Poor guy physically he was the effective age of early 50's going into this. Actual age 75. Now., he's been pretty beat up...I just hope they're now more complications. AND the path reports not back yet.................................
-
Rosie, would you consider sending your Davis address by PM. I can locate the property by Zillow and post pics without any identifying info.
-
Thanks Loverly. I do too. It's one thing to know a drug is causing something,, another to be having something happening and they don't connect the dots.
-
Thanks Sassy for info in the midst of your crises. No DH has never had a rxn to it, never had it at all. I'm the one with the glaucoma Loverly. I googled "Halcion for pre-op" that exact phrase and it brought up tons of dental stuff so I guess it's a common practice. Endo is real young so would hope he's up on the most current stuff. I mostly want to know it's going to work. I don't think they plan IV sedation.
Do you know of any pain meds for dental stuff? DH has no reaction to hydrocodone. Last time I think he had anything it was Darvocet - how long has that been off the market lol.
Gosh Sassy what is the use of EMRs if no one looks at them. I wonder if there is a flag on the chart linking heparin prepared equipment and low platelets? Sounds like the IT dept needs to do some digging.
-
Hydrocodone or oxycodone are often used after dental work.
-
Thanks Glennie. Any other suggestions for pain meds? Of course I'm counting on the endo to give him something. DH might as well be eating M&Ms as taking hydrocodone. He's never had oxy. Most stuff he just toughs through but then it's been years since he's had any surgery other than this ongoing dental chit. That's why the joke about Darvocet. And even then I don't think he took much of it.
Wren I'll take your temperatures also. We are actually getting widespread rain and a bit cooler tomorrow.
-
Has he tried Ultram?
-
Thanks Loverly. Nope he's never had that either. Need to make me a list. My brain has turned to mush in the 3 years since I retired. I also have to have ducks in a row since endo is 45 minutes away to get any other RX from him.
