My outing with my friend was great this morning. He enjoyed my ride and we had a good chat. I told him about my bc, which I had not done before, and said I had almost run into him at the MO's office one time! We talked a bit about cancer stuff, and he told me his wife is also going in for a biopsy on Friday for calcifications. I told him I can be a resource for them, but hoped they would not need it. I will check in with them next week to find out how things are going. I know it can take awhile for those results (the waiting is so hard!) I am glad I finally got to tell him today in a good private setting that worked for me, and now if we see each other at the MO's office, it won't be a surprise.

I have a new contract I am getting in place and hoping to get that wrapped up in the next week or so before I leave for a family wedding trip. The work order is still pending with their client (doing subcontract work), but expected to be signed this month!

I have a question about tile that I would like to put out. We saw this porcelin tile at Home Depot that comes in planks and looks like wood. It even has this 3D hand scrapped look that when it laid down without grout, looks like wood flooring. It comes in different colors and can get wet, doesn't warp etc. We were going to put this down in our daughters place instead of laminate, since you have to be careful with laminate and this tile stuff looks more durable, same price, no hollow sound and can be laid on cement. Have any of you used this tile and could tell us if it's good stuff? The reviews look good. Apparently it is very popular in the South.

Loveroflife- we leave three weeks from tomorrow so I should be able to get my part done with the prime on the work. The wild card is the ultimate client, and they can be SLOW. But the work has been approved, it is just releasing the funds. They may have some other work for me to do until it does (including up in Denver), which I am game for!

My bc was very stress related.

Rose, no experience with that type of tile. Have regular ceramic in bath and one bedroom. Have laminate everywhere else, wish I could get rid of the tile. Laminate has been down at least 20 years, sooooo easy to care for, dog messes and hair clean right up.

Tile floors hurt my feet. Just my two cents. Make sure it's smooth so no dirt in grooves.

Hootie hoo Patty. I drank the heck out of ginger "tea" made with fresh root. Ate oyster/soup crackers and dry cereal. Piggybacked my nausea meds but beware of constipation. If it ain't one thing, it's another. Sorry you're miserable. Hope you find some relief soon.

Rose, I don't have porcelain "wood" planks in my home. I do have porcelain tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms. They can be cold in the winter, but really nice in the summer. I have seen some really nice porcelain planks. It seems like you don't have to worry about cleaning the grouts/grooves with some planks.

We have ceramic tile in master bath, don't like color/grout. We put red dirt colored ceramic tile in the garage now den with dark grout. Love it. Actually wish I had a bit darker grout. DH did a small piece for the back door, his grout is a little darker. Carpet man wanted to know who did tile, DH said he did. He said you're hired lol great job. BUT back to the question - yes Rosie I've seen those wood tile planks. I think we went to see them one day while at Lowe's. Don't understand your comment about "without grout". We never got any farther than looking. Go to Lowes.com. Search wood look ceramic tile. Lots of reviews. I have no vested interest but we have had excellent luck with things done by Lowes. Kitchen redo 11 years ago, toilets, hot water heater, faucets, disposer. DH is not a plumber lol.

DAH haha. I'm on a eagle chat board. The 1st time I used DH someone - actually a moderator - wanted to know politely if that meant ____ head. I've since changed to "hubs" lol. I now realize there are a lot of kids on this board since actually it is sponsored by a school. I think she was making sure I was not a pervert.

The reason I asked about the tiles is that DD2 college art student is a slob, drops paint, nail polish, water and drags all kinds of crud around making her creations. The carpet in her place was pretty worn and we said we would replace the flooring. Well I am concerned with laminate and all the paint, chemicals, splash etc.. and yet she wants a wood floor look. We can't afford to redo anything once it's done, it better be done for resale kind of thing. So when I saw these very realistic looking wood looking tiles I thought there is my answer. Under the carpet is cement and it's smooth, so laying it would be easy. The wood look is best without grout they said, laying them close together. I was also concerned it would be cold.. but the heat is radiant through the ceiling and DD says they nearly roasted last winter leaving the windows open! (we don't pay for heat ) So I figured they can have a rug near the sitting area and the rest would be easy to clean, no water damage, no hollow sound and nearly indestructable for the same price as middle priced laminate. Their dang cat can't shred it and he'll have fun sliding all over chasing his toys and crumpled paper. I have never seen anything like it and wondered if anyone here had some. They said it's great in rental units because water won't damage it, and it can't warp like laminate etc. The tile really looks like wood planks. Thanks for answering.

Luvgoats- We bought our front door from LOWE's and they installed it.. Love my door. It was a gift from DH after chemo was completed - FrankLloyd wright inspired glass design with red and clear glass. I have not had flooring done by Lowes or Home Depot.

Rose, I have no experience with ceramic tile but a friend had some laid in her kitchen and was warned that if anything heavy were to drop on it it could crack. On concern that I would have is if solvents were needed to clean up nail polish or paint would it affect the sealant/glaze on the tile.

If you opt for the porcelain, make sure you go for the higher grade...a bit more $, but more durable. Ours is grade 4 and so far no cracks after 12 yrs. ( I am a clutz and have dropped so many things on the floor)

We have the laminate flooring also! DD and I installed the floor in the bedroom on top of old linoleum...... But really hard to do getting up and down a million times! I finished it with the baseboards, and it looks great.....

The kind we have has the rubberized backing.. so is quiet, and no "sound" at all. DD had a cheaper one put in in her house, but you have to put a backing down before you lay it down...... We put little pads on the legs of furniture so moving it wouldn't scratch... And we put an area rug down under the dining-room table and in front of the sofa and recliners, covering up 1/2 of the room....... It isn't any colder than the kitchen, where I put down the same type of hard linoleum tiles you see in grocery stores, only we didn't epoxy or glaze them to make them that "shiny"....... THAT flooring has been there for over 30 years.

The laminate is very easy to clean! I either use Bono, or vinegar and water.... Maybe working on top of a plastic drop cloth would keep stains off of anything?

Janie had to put her little cat to sleep last night.... "Tooter" was her best neighbor bud for YEARS, but when those people moved, they asked Janie to keep him, because they couldn't take him........... He was always at HER house anyway...... But he got something wrong....... with his eye. It got cloudy and white all of a sudden, and he was "sick" ....she took him to the vets a few times, but they said he was in pain with his eye pressure behind it, and they could give her more drops, which it was impossible to put in there... (Her hands got all scratched up) and he got to where he wouldn't open his eye.... they could do surgery, and take his eye out, but they weren't sure what else was wrong with him... He probably was about 14... same as her "Trini" girl which she still has...

She called after the Vets.... Her friend was with her......... Her friend said "Trini will probably be dancing in the streets now".. Tooter tried to man-handle Trini all the time...... but they tolerated each other...... It's just that it hurts so bad when we lose out pets....... She was telling ME not to cry, while SHE was crying.......... But I know sometimes we just have to do what's best for them.........

Was it Blessings that had to have her dog Annie's eye removed? I just remember something about that.

PhylliPness...You are such a rabble-rouser! Always make me laugh! Did you read about Sassy? That girl is having "issues" again with that what'shisname.... We should just ignore this set-back........ they will come out of it.... until the next time.

If it were ME, I would be afraid they would find something ELSE in the mean-time, and not come back! If you love something, don't set it free.... because it sure as hell might not come back home some day.

Thank you Teka Zills and everyone re:DB. He had a transfusion last night. His numbers aren't great, but they could be worse. Nursing is very cooperative to give us the numbers etc. and taking concerns to the doc. Off to search his cancer type. BBL

Rosie - just a short reply. We had Pergo in the kitchen a very small area and carpet done by Lowes. Both jobs excellent. The ceramic in the garage/den was done by a local. We have a few loosening areas of grout but this was a garage and it does slope downward for drainage. Thankfully and probably true to the slope they are on the lesser walked upon upper end. One contractor wanted us to go the expense of leveling the concrete - nope.

Yes I would worry about tile in a kitchen. I have a couple of minor knife gouges in the Pergo.

Have you thought of going with polished concrete? Big area rugs in living area? Not sure if this fits the definition of "redoing" the floors or not.

Oh Chevster. Yes Annie Mae. I'm so terrible with names. Lives in So Cal near 2TA. She did great I remember - the dog. So sorry about Janie's cat.

Luvgoats- I love polished concrete very urban loft type look, with rugs. I would so go for that as this is on the 4th floor very urban. This kid wants "wood look" hmm.. I will say we used dura tiles which is a vinyl tile made to look like ceramic tiles. We put this in the kitchen and hobby room and the stuff hasn't lasted for beans! It was put in 08 and under the dishwasher my kids have dropped knives and silver ware that has gouged the tiles. They are warmer then ceramic tile but no where near as durable. Also under the chair in the hobby room it scratched, so we got a rug for under the chairs. Do not buy dura tile. ugh.. sorry we picked that!

Sas- I am glad DB is doing better. Good luck on getting him info on his cancer. I got quite a shock to learn on Tuesday that my cancer they sent off to be tested in June (ascites fluid) flipped it's markers. I'm now Her2 positive. Never was before anytime they looked and sent it out. Maybe that's why it's been so aggressive since April. Cancer is always changing..morphing and moving. ugh.

Chevy I feel for your poor daughter! The cat was loved and it was loving to put him down and not suffer. Hugs to you all. How is the swelling in your legs? Did you get that under control?

Rose, DS added a separate dining room to his house by enclosing a porch. They looked at various kinds of flooring and ended up with sheet vinyl that looks like wood. They have grade school children and decided to wait to do anything expensive. It actually looks like wood but is easier to clean. I'm not sure about nail polish remover tho.

The only pain I can feel right now is in my heart. Bad bad family stuff coming to light. It's really sad when people care more about stuff then people. Life could be so much more simple if people just cared for each other. Oh well, not this side of heaven I guess.
