little blue, good for you for persevering. Although I have to say my first thought was doesn't everybody go commando at the gym lol? I mean, who wears underwear under exercise clothes?

I did five straight days of either biking or hiking and today I was nothing but a big fat slug, so nice. Flying to Chicago, fingers crossed my arm doesn't blow up.

Heading off to the mt hood forest for some camping. Oregon friends please discontinue all manner of rain dance until Monday. Exercise past two days has included packing, supply gathering, loading, laundering. 10,000 steps no problem. Will report back on hiking, swimming, eating and stargazing upon my return.

Busy, busy you all are. I am pooped. Pushed my butt to the gym and walked 3 miles on the treadmill. Came home and got ready to go to a meeting to finalize my retirement from teachimg. Then, stopped at the grocery so I could eat tonight. I wish there were some farmer's markets around here. That looks like fun. My sister wants me to move to Oregon......tempting, but I would be so far away from my grandkids who are in northern Florida and Virginia. I hsve been to Mt. Hood....so pretty there. Fish in the oven.....ready for jammies

    All right!

My exercise will be lower today due to tightness in my radiated armpit, BUT it's healing quickly.

    1 mile. Slow.

Some nice gardening for my well being

Had PT today. Lifted heavier weights. I'm really getting stronger!

Ate nothing but fresh summer veg today. Tomatoes, basil, green beans, non gmo corn 7 times more expensive. And I would have paid more. I talked to the farmer at the market yesterday. It is now difficult to find non gmo corn seed anywhere in this country. He said they paid $1,000 for 30 lbs of seed. That is super high. Felt good to support a local farmer with such bravery to make the investment.

Just noticed a faint square tan on my ribs...and a rashieness on my neck on the rads side bUT I think we'll outside the supraclavicular area. Hmmm...wonder what that's all about? 2 weeks down 4 to go! Deep seated armpit pain at times too...

Katy, your food! Gaaaawwwd...yummmmmmmm! And your weight lifting! Yr a beast!

Way to go ksusan....you are the light at the end of the tunnel for those of us just starting out! Wait, it's just your displaced electrons lol. But seriously....

    Everything counts pboi!

Good work sunshine..wish I had a good fish recepie....hint hint...

little blue, post pictures of that Mohawk! I have been taking weekly pictures and daily notes of rads changes, my Lymphedema therapist told me Wednesdaybthst my radiated breast was faint pink. I did not believe her until Inlooked at my pictures from Thursdsy. Swollen snd a tad pink... Just the reconstructed part. Ack! I guess it is inevitable...was just hoping it would wait a bit longer!

I did 5 miles this morning. Walk 1, run 3, walk 1. My run was not much faster than my walk, but I am still calling it a run

I think I'll risk rubbing my intact but radiation-sore armpit by walking downtown and having my first cup of matcha in 2015! It's lovely today, i.e., overcast with periods of sun peeping through. SPF 45 (new normal--old normal = none), load up an audiobook, grab my waist pack of goodies (Miaderm, LE-fighting kit, sunblock, medical alert bracelet, medical wallet card, phone, sunglasses, reading glasses, cap, $5--okay, it's an involved process) and away I go!

just managed to hit my daily goal for the first time in quite a while.

    3500+ steps

    45 min

    2 miles

Did PT yesterday. More minor weightlifting but progress is being made. Pain and swelling subsiding. And pcp visit this morning revealed a 4 lb weight loss in about 6 weeks. Very happy. It's probably almost all fluids. But no matter. Those fluids weren't helping.

Glad you got outside for a welcome ritual Frau Doktor! Sounds very nice despite being complicated.

Congratulations, Katy! How nice to be hitting some goals.

My radiated area is noticeably toned-down today, though the area at the end of my incision and under my armpit is turning a spotty brownish, probably preparatory to peeling. I made my walk just fine, though, and did have a matcha.

I am now home eating a low-glycemic lunch, then I'll rest, then a few hours' work. Lunch is an herbal shrub (splash of vinegar infused with ginger and rosemary, topped with club soda), krab with non-soy mayo and homegrown carrot and dill, a few walnuts, and an apple from one of our two columnars with cinnamon.

We have a harvest of about 50 Scarlet Sentinels and North Poles--pretty good!

Those Apple look marvy! Are they suitable for applesauce or just cooked apples with lemon? A bit of sugar or maybe stevia? My gramma used to make the best homemade applesauce..... Strolling down memory lane right now.. Thank you

:) They're crisp and somewhat tart, so I think they'll be good as a crumble (with coconut oil, stevia, cinnamon, lemon, raisins) topped with oats. We'll find out how that is tomorrow since we have a friend coming over to watch the first Ducks game of the season.

I don't think you frequent the April Chemo group, but I did write LittleBlue a ditty there that includes you :)

Exercise today was going to MO to find out results from 3 scans on Wednesday. Praise God, they were clear! The anxious, stressful days (and nights) that these tests produce, both having done and waiting for results is awful. I have lost 5 pounds because I could not eat. I need to get back into real exercise tomorrow! These tests were a result of a high tumor marker. Are tumor markers good or just stress producers?

Wish there was a farmer's market around here. I would love that! I hope everyone has a wonderful week- end!

    yay for clear scans sunshine!

1hr and 45 min of cardio, followed by shrimp cooked in butter..think I finally made the jump from pathetic cancer patient to disgusting hipster, lookswise. Not what I would choose, but hey its an improvement!

Our college football game day date crapped out on us, so we're still having a raw veg tray, lentil stew*, and watermelon, but we've stopped cleaning the house :)

    Go Ducks!

*dried organic lentils, Yukon gold potatoes, mushrooms, homegrown organic tomatoes, garlic, ghee, amontillado, agave nectar, dried shallot, salt, red pepper, black pepper.

Haha! Lunch sounds great. You are the only other people I know who "happen to have" amontillado around the house. Had to laugh.

Does this mean you have perhaps some other recipes to use it in?
