sloth thanks for the book recommendation. I think it was SpecialK who posted the dishwashing example. It is a great one for living in the moment. I also try to enjoy my time with my family and not worry about whether I will see my grandchildren grow up. I have them for today, and I try to focus on enjoying that.

If I ever go stage 4, I'm going to have to write down a lot of stories for my kids and step kids to remember about them growing up. I have a lot of great memories so far in my life and I am thankful for every one of them.

Now back to jokes and tomato porn

    Good going, Whitney!

    8/29:

    • .75 hr T (2.5 MPH avg) + stretches
    • Fitbit steps
    • .75 hr T (2.5 MPH avg)

    = 5.0 miles

Sadly, the neighborhood uproar last night was a murder-suicide. It does make one appreciate being alive, despite its itches, zaps, and still-cruddy toenails.

Susan- that is very upsetting indeed. I am wondering if being upset over that is what caused you to log 75 hours on the treadmill. Incredible!

I trust that level of exercise will assist in an excellent night's sleep.

Walked two miles this morning on a cool day. Feels like summer is waning here in the great Central Valley. Always a cause for celebration when that happens (at least for me).

    Going to pick some tomatoes

    Or misplace a decimal point!

walk 1, run 2, walk 1, run 1.5, walk 1, run .5=7 miles. The run was slow, but progress is progress

Nicely done, Kbee. We're up to 3.11 miles after first tempting the heavens by walking to a tea shop (where I had a nice cup of green tea), then walking back, then scurrying inside to enjoy a brief deluge that we weren't in.

Katy: As promised, here is my rain dance (in the rain):

    Hello,

I finally made it over here into the exercise group. I saw the picture of the person in the tomatoes, and thought, "Look what kind of group I've been missing out on!!" I'm a walker --about 4 miles a day. I love to walk. It calms me. I 'm in my first round of TC chemo, so I'm hoping that the walking will help with the side effects when the fatigue sets in.

I practice mindfulness, too. Some books were too much for me, such as Bhante Gunaratana's Mindfullness in Plain English. Instead, I was just looking more for calmness and being fully present (but I understand that some people want the depth of the spirituality in meditation). UCLA's Diana Winston has some simple guided 3-10 minute sessions that help you learn to NOT dwell on your stress... to notice it and let it go. She's about the speed and level of depth I needed to learn how to clear my mind in the early mornings or late at night when my mind began to over-think. Anyway, I thought she was good. Here's the link. http://marc.ucla.edu/body.cfm?id=22

Welcome, Sloan! We're glad you've joined us. Many of us are done with all of (or the first cocktail of) chemo, so please consider us a resource for that, too. I walked all through chemo and radiation and I'm sure my experience was better for it. I like Tich Naht Hahn for a sensible, not-very-rulebound mindfulness and meditation practice.

I am a lady of a certain age, so though I can sometimes get it going like a turbo 'Vette, I'm afraid I lack the skill to drop it low to make it rain.

Also, I do not know how to twerk. I may be learning a new dance called "Hot Flash" (it's a fast striptease). I believe some among us know a scampering/shuffling dance called "Doin' the Big D."

LOL Have to say, I got my exercise clothes on, my water bottle, towel, book and got in the car to go to the gym in my neighborhood to walk on the treadmill. Started the car. Turned it off. Just too tired. Went back inside, fell on my bed and took a two hour nap. Some days are just like that!

Hello everyone . I'm 38. Used to be very active before the dx. Not so much now (obviously). Just had the first round of chemo. Trying to walk as long as I can. From what I understand I can't be on the sun, so I get out of the house only after 8pm . Is that the way ? Or I can go for a walk in the morning too? Like 7-8 am?
