INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Hey all. Just checking in. I've been down with a cold that's moved into my chest. I was going to start charging it rent but my MO prescribed an antibiotic today so it's been given it's official eviction notice. Then there's the infected hang nails on both of my middle fingers which have not only hampered my ability to flip the bird but also typing on my ipad. I even missed the Belmont Stakes and triple crown winner.
I had to laugh at the sex and getting older convo--my dad had prostate cancer when he was 65 and opted to have his prostate removed. There was about a 30% chance that he wouldn't regain "function". One day about four months after his surgery, my mom had to call me (at work, on a taped line) to tell me that dad had morning wood that day. I'm still traumatized by that conversation.
-
Marlana!!!! Glad you kicked those little rascals out of your temple. You typed on your pad with your middle finger too? How funny is that? My kids get embarrassed whenever I do that. My older daughter always remind me that I need to exercise my other fingers too. Can't help if that's my dominant finger.
I don't know why moms tell their kids about their bedroom business. My mom did to me that one time too Did they not know that might traumatize us or forget that we are their kids???
Thought about you the other day when I saw this:

And this

-
U r so welcome. and Master 4 chevy is it.
Sas u r the best
Patty me 2 thought u were having a better than good time.
Thinking of u patty hoping u r feeling better.
-
Marla- I am sorry about the cold and hope you feel better, but OMG are you funny! And the stuff about parents talking about their sex lives, I remember one time my mother told me after my father had to go into a nursing home how they "always had a wonderful sex life." I think she was sharing she was missing initimacy with my dad as part of the tough changes going on, but oh the visuals! Can you spare me the details mom! I mean I know you did it three times to have your kids, but we all like to think that was it! LOL!
-
This reminds me of the mad libs from the 1970s for any of you that can remember those!
Apparently I tickled a mop because I am a total pimp. Sounds about right.
GO!

I was born in February so nothing was safe around me...the Tower

me too. First day of summer here. It hit 104. Right now it's
Won't be as bad tomorrow -
Thanks Jazzy -- and your conversation with your mom is funny, too! TMI mom! TMI!!!
Loverly -- I may have to invest in that lounge chair system for my next remodel. I have a couch and love seat in my family room where the tv is and another couch and 2 love seats in the living room but they're always fighting over whichever the other one is occupying.

Morning gals.... Evidently there was a shooting at the Assisted Living where Theresa is.... This man was shot by a relative... she says... Policeman is sitting outside his room.... They don't tell the other tenants anything else.... yet... But we saw the Police towing away an older SUV... The one Police-gal said "all parties were accounted for"... So I guess that means they caught the guy? But don't know what happened to the guy who was shot. That corridor was still on lock-down... Maybe they were waiting until night-fall to take anybody away? Nothing on the News either...
It's just scary to drive up on that much Police activity, and fire-trucks, ambulances, etc. But the entrances weren't blocked. Just glad we weren't there 1/2 hour earlier... I would have had to lead yet ANOTHER rescue.... and then figure out what happened...

I loved Mad Libs!
So here's mine: I shot Ronald McDonald because a clown stole my taco! lol

-
Here's mine "I made out with a cocktail, because the voices in my head said so." Hmm Jazzy pretty normal for me too?
Chevy , I googled it yesterday, but nothing was on the Denver news yet. Kind of surprising b/c the news is usually all over those types of stories.
Susan, calling about your arm

-
Yea Mom!!!!
-
Who are the nuts, Ms. Chevy?
Mommy good news!
Jazzy, I wanted a bowl of French fries because I love bacon or else I will become a deranged taco lover going after poor old Ronald McDonald. I dare not fit the other activities in otherwise I will sound illogical.
-
I can be Ma-maNut, and whoever else wants to be one too!

I am having a week over here! I got a call from a bank today (not any of my banks) from the fraud dept about a possible fraudulent application for a credit card. UGH. After checking on line to make sure the number was valid before I returned it (which is was), I learned someone tried to open a credit card this weekend using my info. So they called me as it automatically triggered a fraud alert, and the card was never issued, has been cancelled and an investigation is under way. Although I have had credit card numbers and a debt card no stolen before that created problems for me, an application for credit tells me someone out there has my SSN. So I put freezes on my credit reports and also going to call the banks today to put those on the watch list.
I had a computer stolen a number of years ago and had to go through this before. It has been long enough that I don't think it was from that, but have been expecting something could happen with all the data breaches that go on anymore. I have BSBC for insurance and you probably all know they have a huge one that happened in the past year. Every time I hear about it, it is bigger than they think. I have a good friend who works in cyber security, and he says that with all the breaches, you just sort of have to assume your stuff is out there and to be ready to react when something happens. So that was me today!
I hope you are having a better day than me!
-
Oh crap!! So sorry Jazzy for the stress and headache. Good thing the bank called you. This reminds me I need to redo the fraud alert with the credit company. Husband has fraud alert, but I don't. We ought to have a way where for those of us who have not had problems with identity theft don't have to contact credit companiesevery 3 months. You are going on a trip soon too right? Bummer. Hoping for no further damage. What a waste of your time and energy. Hugs to you.
-
Jazzy, this happened to me while we were walking around Colorado Mills..... (About 10 years ago!) Anyone can walk by you, and either with their phone, or tablet, or Ipad, "skim" any of your cards right from your purse.... ! I've talked about this before...... It's like we don't pay attention until it happens to us.....
I got a call from Master-Card one night.... Asked my name.... THEY asked, "Did you just charge online airfare on Spirit Air for $1,500???? I said "NO!"... To make a long story short, "they also tried to drain my checking with another airline ticket.... but MasterCard stopped the charges. I had to call my Credit Union, get another card.... Report this to the 3 credit-agencies.... Transperian, plus 2 othes.... Call Social Security, the Police Department .... In case I got stopped, I had a report filed with my identity, and picture.... Also the IRS!
Now every year I get a new "code" from SS to turn in with our Tax info.
THEN CapitolOne called ME one day, and said someone was trying to open a charge account with my name, SS, and any information they had..... I don't know HOW long it takes to straighten it out.... I'm still afraid! I do NOT carry any cards around with me.... I only have one Debit card, but I leave that home. I go to the credit union to take out money for home, and when we go shopping.
I also don't keep much money in my checking.... I "transfer" it online over to the savings.... And the credit union has the REPORT of what happened.
You just have to really be careful.... I made a holder out of aluminum foil, with Duck Tape around it, to carry my card, if I plan to use it. But again, I don't carry any card unless I have to.... we don't have a credit card. We just take cash for the day..... And I have a cord on my wallet, hooked onto my purse, so I won't walk off & leave it on the counter somewhere....
When you purchase anything at the stores with your card, they never look at your picture, or ask for another ID! Especially if your charge is under $50. So if your card has been stolen, anyone can pick it up and use it.....

Just stay safe gals.....

so scary the bad guys are smarter than me

About all the funnies...anyone want to explain them to me? Only understood a few.. Soooo sad:(
-
Which funnies Susan? Btw, how is the itch on your arm? I have very sensitive skin too. It is no fun when I get wrapped up or bandaged. Itch like crazy
-
Loveroflife- yes, I am going on a biz trip tomorrow. I think I got my bases covered for today.
Ending today with a nice trip to the nail salon. Got a mani/pedi and waxing. I usually have my eyebrows shaped but I asked today "see anything else that need attention" and she was pulling on some hair around my lip! Dang, another bonus of no estrogen. We got rid of that today too. I feel all prettied up!
-
So sad...my sweet beagle, Spencer is no longer with us. He's been having some troubles lately and he woke up in distress in the middle of the night last night. I am missing him a lot, so is the rest of the family. Our little Dixie has been down in the dumps all day.
-
Mel- I am so sorry about your puppy being gone. Big hugs coming your way. Pets are part of the family and am sure you are all missing Spencer tonight.
-
Ah Mel, so sorry about your sweet Spencer. When you mentioned last how he was having a hard time getting off the bed or sofa, I thought about my younger Sis's dachshund mix that she had to put down the 2 week before. So energetic with no mean bones in him. He would lick you until you get annoyed with him. Very sweet and loving but not the brightest, poor guy. He was paralyzed suddenly and could not pee/poop. The humane thing to do was to put him down. He was still spunky till the end. Pets have a special place in our hearts. When they are gone, that parts in our hearts are gone with them. I hate that emptiness feeling.
Here is a pic of Yoshi

Yoshi with Mika who liked to dominate him

-
Day of surprises- one of my nieghbors who is in culinary school just stopped by with a cinnamon coffee cake she made. My day definately ended better than it started!
-
