Those hummers are beauties. I need to start looking where I can put up a feeder for them.
-
-
wow what a color on him!!!
Im watching Mr and Mrs Cardinal out back, and a red wing blackbird. Keep trying to get a shot of them together but the slightest movement makes the cardinals take off...
-
Another beauty Lisa!
Spotted the first ruby throated hummer today. I've had my feeders out for a week. Now waiting for the orioles to arrive.
-
just a plain old seagull yesterday
-
Did anyone else hear the Bird Note that discussed bluebirds' feathers not really being blue, but scattering light like the sky, resulting in blue appearance? Interesting.
-
These babies were adorable.
-
-
Awesome Lisa!

Just dropping in to share this photo that was taken by my daughter in law on our recent trip to Fort Morgan, AL. She's an avid reader and animal lover and I jokingly call her the animal whisperer, so I found this hilarious. She was reading on the deck of our beach house and this bird, not sure if it's a heron, egret or crane but it was walking along the beach and decided to walk up two sets of stairs to join her on the deck!
-
Killdeer?
Animal whisperer for sure.
-
Lisa, I tried to look up bird and couldn't find a match.
Teka LOL So true.
Justmax, what a hoot. Those birds are usually very skittish around here. A bird whisperer for sure!
-
Wren, I think it is a killdeer
-
just now
-
Oriole in my yard yesterday for bit. ACtually not sure how long, but I only saw it for a bit. Ran for the binocs and then it saw me. But boy was it pretty! So bright orange. Hope he comes back.
-
Orioles are so quick to fly off. Hard to get a good photo, at least for me.
-
We're very excited here -- a pair of orioles have built a nest right in our front yard! All those jars of grape jelly paid off!
-
RIGHT NOW
-
got some new little binocs today, am excited to use them. Much much lighter (and smaller) than previous pair. Both Bushnells, and the little ones are probably a little less good (8x25 vs 8x40) but they are much easier to hold and carry.
-
We spent hour s stalking the nest of the Quetzal bird. I got some good photos but am still waiting for my DH to forward them to me. I am learning to use his expensive camera and Lens.
-
The 1st male rose-breasted grosbeak to return to the seed feeders this Spring!
