Cleveland, Ohio area?
Hi all, just wondering if there are other Northeast Ohio ladies out there?

Beachbum is west of Cleveland, and I am east of Cleveland out in Eastlake.
Would love to get together with women who "get it".
JJ
-
Hey Buckeyes! Count me in that would be great to meet everyone. Cheryl
-
I am an hour east of Cleveland. I get my treatment at the Cleveland Clinic.
-
Hi jcfree - I go to the CC too. Willoughby, Beachwood, and the main campus if I have to (too big and the parking is horrendous ).
I'm in Eastlake, about 30 minutes from the main campus.

Hi ladies, wow, I posted this last September, now all these responses. I live 30 minutes west of Cleveland, got my rads at UH Seidman Cancer Center. Would love to meet, let me know when and where. Would a Saturday be best, or a weeknight? Don't know who works and what hours, My schedule is pretty flexible except for Wednesdays and Thursdays. What about the rest of you?
-
Hi Ladies, thank you for adding me, I am about an hour East of Cleveland. I get my chemo at Seidman Cancer Center in Mentor. I'm like JO-5, I won't be able to do get togethers but will be happy to talk to everyone. I work at a car dealership and always work late and on Saturdays, but I appreciate the offer. Are any of you planning on doing any breast cancer walks this Summer or Fall? -
my wife and I are from west central ohio, 45 miles north of dayton. She just had her 1st appointment with OSU yesterday after switching from the kettering medical center. We WERE michigan fans until yesterday lol. They should be calling soon to set up an appointment for her double mastectomy. Due to distance we won't be able to have any get to togethers but thanks for the invite.

It's nice to hear where you're all located in Ohio. I live one hour west of Pittsburgh, PA (where I go for treatment) in a little town that sits on the Ohio River. The area is commonly referred to as "the Ohio Valley". Cleveland is about 2 hours northwest of me ( have visited the Rock n Roll hall of fame, wasn't expecting much and turned out to be one of the best days of my life.)
We are about 3 hours east of Columbus where my stepson and his family live. I do love Ohio and have visited many places in the state over the years, from Cedar Point ( rode the Millennium Force) to Kings Island, Maumee Bay and Hocking Hills and more.
I don't know that I could make a trip to get together but will keep up to date with your plans.
Uh, jaymute, they let Michigan fans live in Ohio? Lol, at least you've switched. Truth be told, my family are Alabama Crimson Tide fans as one of my uncles was a coach there during Coach Bear Bryant's reign. But OSU a close second!
-
It would have been nice to meet others but I'm too far. I live just north of Dayton. So far Ohio has been nice. I moved here last year from Indiana. The kids lov being so close to Kings Island and Great Wolf Lodge!
-
Hey jmute, a Michigan convert to Buckeye, YEAH! My DH played football at OSU under Coach Woody Hayes and graduated from OSU. Great rivalry always with Michigan. Every year for a whole week before the OSU/Michigan game he is so uptight, it's like he goes through reliving what he went through when he played football. U of M is a great school.

Hi Ladies, I was thinking about back home today, and I want a huge box of the homemade caramels with nuts from Heggys...........the best!
-
What about if we met in Independence? I was looking at a map at it seems pretty centrally located between some of us, or we could just meet in downtown Cleveland. Please let me know if any of you are getting together or if you want me to work on setting something up. I'd love to meet up with those of you that can.
6doggies, I am going to golf in a huge BC outing in June, they had 250 women in it last year. Do any of you golf? I'm doing a BC obstacle run this month as well. Do you have 6 doggies?

Beachbum and I met in Lakewood on Sunday and had a BLAST.
Picture of us to follow when I get it uploaded from my cell phone.
In the meantime, here's a picture I got at the beach where we went:

Hi Ladies, this is the fishing pier at Bradstreet Landing in Lakewood. I can't wait for the next adventure to begin! And it would be great if we had company, please join in the fun. Just Jean and I had a really great day. We had lunch at My Friends Restaurant in Lakewood and took a lot of great pics. There is some really nice beach glass and driftwood to be found here when you walk the beach.

Beachbum, I just realized where you live, I am in Avon Lake, and I work in Rocky River, I would love to have joined you. Would love to get together sometime, I'll pm you my info.
-
Genny, we would have loved to have had you come with us! You two live quite close to each other!
Here we are - I am in the front. It was a great day.
-
genny5775, yes, I do have 6 dogs, my family likes to get dogs and then they decide to move or decide they don't want them anymore so I take them, I can't bear for them to be taken to animal shelters or just dumped somewhere. I was never able to have children so they have become my "animal" kids and they are all spoiled rotten!!That is awesome about the golf outing, pretty much all the guys where I work play golf but I'm not that into it, I am planning on participating in Making Strides in Cleveland in October.
-
Hi all! I have been away from bco for a few weeks due to being busy, but saw a pm about this thread when I logged in today. I had no idea there were so many Buckeyes here! I am in Fairview Park, which is just west of Cleveland, and do my treatments at UH Seidman in Middleburg Hts. Would love to meet some of you! Wish I has seen this much sooner.
-
Hi badhairday, I live on the Lake in Sheffield Lake, and I go to the Moll Center and Fairview Hospital as needed. My regular go to is the Cleveland Clinic in Avon. But I am close by so let me know what you would like to do, and where and I would love to do that! See the pics above from Bradstreet Landing with Just Jean. We had a blast.
So Ladies how about some suggestions for places to see and things to do? Anyone going to Speaking of Women's Health a Ladies Night Out on May 21? It is sponsored by the Cleveland Clinic and is going to be at Ahern's Party Center in Avon Lake on Route 83. I have 3 other Ladies joining me from my rads group and so should be fun. If you want the info, just let me know.
I hope to get this group going soon! We need a fun day

LiveStrong Program is now available at the French Creek YMCA. I'm not sure what other locations are involved with the program, but you can check with your local Y. The program includes a 12 week fitness program and a free membership for the 12 weeks. Full use of the facility is included. I love it, started on Tuesday. I was pretty amazed at how weak I was, but very excited to try to get it back in shape. I hope I get back in shape, chemo fat and yoga pants should never be in the same sentence! Maybe I will see you there!
I have some ideas for a get together:
Walk and shop at Crocker Park
Casino Night
Beach walking at Huntington Beach
Photography at Bradstreet Landing
Kayak rental/canoe rental for water fun
Jet Express to Put In Bay
Blossom Music Center summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra
Walk/shop/lunch in Lakewood
Any other ideas in your neighborhood? We could rotate each outing near our home towns.
-
great ideas beachbum, I was thinking Crocker Park one time and Legacy Village the next time to cover east and west siders. Just a thought. Thanks for the info on the Y, might have to ck that out. I put on 20 lbs with tx, got 10 off, now wt doesn't want to budge
-
Crocker Park has a fantastic tree lighting ceremony the week before Thanksgiving, and it would be a fun kick off to the Holidays if anyone is interested. But they also have great restaurants with summer patios. They are currently under construction adding more restaurants and 100 new retail stores. It is online. We can do that summer and winter.
MammaRay what do you have fun your direction other than the Football Hall of Fame, which is awesome, and Heggy's? Awesome too! I walk the beach all the time, let me know when you have time and we can set a date and meet the group. Oh Hartville Flea Market, I love the restaurant there.
Cleveland East side, any suggestions?
-
Love all of those ideas, Beachbum! I haven't been to the Horseshoe yet, but have been meaning to go. (If I hit it big, I can pay off all these medical bills! LOL!)
Some other ideas:
Cleveland Zoo
Art museum or gallery
West side market for shopping and lunch (lots of cool restaurants in that area)
Rock Hall? (haven't been there in years!)
I will keep thinking. I have exchange surgery scheduled for May 29 (pending a nasty infection I have clearing up), but I sure could use some "me time" and would be open to whatever fits for most of us.
-
Hi Ladies, if anyone is interested in a beach day with photography added in, this is a nice sandy beach, with a park and walking track.
That's me with my crazy chemo hair, 6 months of new growth. Thanks Biotin. There is plenty to watch, lots of ducks and birds, boats and a jet ski or two. Not too crowded either. Rafts and floats encouraged! The locals call this beach "hot waters" because the water is shallow, and the power plant heats the return water. Cheryl

Ladies - how about a meeting at one of the Blossom concerts? A night on the lawn, great music, much laughter, new friendships... anyone game?
Beachbum and I went to the Cleveland Orchestra last night (I got some comp tickets) and we had so much fun! The music was awesome.
Here's to great music and great times...
JJ

MammaRay, check the Blossom schedule for the Cleveland Orchestra, we could take a picnic and get lawn tickets to sit on the hill. I used to have season tickets there. It is wonderful to see the Orchestra there. The Sunday evening concerts are usually a 7 pm start. As soon as I know when I start work, I will post what night we are going. Cheryl
Anyone else interested in going with us?
-
MammaRay it would be easy to find each other. The place is really nice - you can buy tickets to sit under the pavilion or you can buy lawn seats. You can wheel in your own cooler, have a meal, a glass of whatever, chat, laugh, and then listen to awesome music.
I sure hope you can come and that others will consider joining us. It's so very special to be around people who "get" you and I hope we can grow our own little Cleveland area group!

MammaRay, as soon as I know when I start work, we will pick the night and get tickets for the lawn. You will love it. Tonight I met genny5775 for dinner at Cafe Melissa in Avon Lake, and had a great time. The food is delicious, and we are looking forward to the next night out.
-
Cheryl and I had a nice time, will try and make it to Blossom, once you all get the date I'll see if it works for me.
