INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Oh so wait! Jazzy says something about "as you get older stuff happens?"
I am the poster child for "as you get older, things will change." I used to be so young and healthy! And I can't BELIEVE how all that went down-hill on a run-away TRAIN!
I mean, I look at myself and ask "what happened"??? Why is it so hard to get down on my knees.... well not exactly hard to get DOWN there, just make sure you have "things" or like walls to hold onto to get back UP!
And all your parts HURT sometimes! Even if you haven't whacked, broke, or abused them!
Damn tootin' things happen! And then I get up, and there are at least 8" of "maybe a dusting, or up to 1 inch of snow overnight."
ARE THEY NUTS? I see they changed THAT prediction about 11 last night, after I was in bed for 3 hours. See? They don't know.... and okay.... I know Spookie is going to run outdoors with her flip-flops on, and her flannel night-gown and take a picture of her Thermometer! YOU know.... The one that never gets down to anything lower than 60.
And Jazzy, yes... that's awful about your friends Husband... I just don't get it... I think it is because I was born before these things started happening.... Ha! I think their wiring went hay-wire somewhere along the line. It's a gene.... a gene in their lineage that didn't develop right, and they all just went willy-nilly doing whatever they wanted.
Same with Cher's daughter Chastity... who is now "Chaz"... And they go to such EXTREMES to be what they think they ought to BE!
I see no-one else is jumping to get into THIS conversation.... Haaaaaaaah!
Morning Peppermint! Yes... we should make a big pot of mashed potatoes with butter, and yogurt, or mayo, or just cream... Keep it on hand. It's good for anytime of day...
And gravy, with a hard-boiled egg, cut up on top! Now that's "down-home" cookin.
Hope you are feeling better today... Oh hell.... You are in Arizona! What's the temperature? 80????? You SHOULD feel better young lady! Come sit with ME a few minutes! We got snow, and lots of it.
And it is a blistering 25 degrees out!
Hi Beachbum! Good attitude girl! I'm TRYing to warm my attitude up a bit here... Coffee should help a little.
Morning Susan... So did you knit all day? I'm going to get this silk scarf material! You crochet, or knit it and it makes the most beautiful fluffy scarves!
Sass... where is 444444444??? I must have missed her...
You are all talking about Birthday's! I think the older you get, it's like EVERYday is a Birthday! So happy to wake UP every morning... even when it all hurts....
And yes HiHo! Gotta celebrate every chance you get... Your friends have the right idea! You aren't a hypo-whatever... You ain't got nothin' that some of the rest of us don't have, or will get... I don't think..... So you aren't complaining... just talking among friends...
Sorry about your Sister... Maybe she just doesn't want to think about it yet... If it IS anything to worry about, there is plenty of time for that... And maybe she won't have a rough time of it.... like me! Maybe she will just sail through everything, without any worries.... No use worrying until you have something to worry about....
And there's Blondie! You need a few more things wrong with you! Wish I could help those Doc's get you fixed up.... fixed up enough where you could blow that pop-stand! You can get SICK in those places, as you well know... Just rest.... ask them to bring you chocolate cokes.... I did, when I was in there... They sent up a big glass of ice, a coke, and a little container of chocolate syrup! I was in heaven.
And then one time when DD was with me, I ordered almost every thing on the menu! And she ate with me... It was like a picnic!
Morning Wren... And oh, Smarty is posting pics of snacks & stuff!
Hey 222222222! I love all of the pictures you post... here AND on the fuzzy thread!

Oh wait.... one more...

Morning Owlettess. Yay I'm up before have the day is gone
Good coffee, good music and you
Mods so nice to see you visit. Judith used to pop in every night
Is Judith still with you?Birth months and weeks are starting to sound better.
Hi! Dh and I used to kind of do the whole self thing b/c we had no kids. Then Lo& behold I was 34 and preggers. We straightened up real fast. Saving and looking at a future etc.
In your pocket thurs. My SIL when she had shoulder sx, got a bunch of oversized shirts from the goodwill so she could leave them buttoned and pull over her head. My cycto is tomorrow. Mommy's recovering. So, is Smarrty & Patty. YoGolfGirl we can whine together. Try it WHUNEEEEEEEEEEEEE. We can shake the rafters. OH Smarrty has brought the cheese and crackers. I'll bring the spirits.
Susan, got to thinking I should do more reading last night. LOL I couldnt' get you out of my head. I studied from about 12:30 am till 2am. Glad I did. I concentrated on stuff I hadn't looked at. Good job Sue's.
Some clue this year whose playing. Most years not. Hate football. My dear neighbors have a SBparty every year. They project the game onto the back of the house. Huge pic. Like a driven in. They have several fires going and to overhead warmer. People come from several states.
BLONDIE YOOHOOOOYou sound up eat even though chit going on. The reason they are moving you is: Medicare will pay for 21 days of rehab. If no rehab going on they move you of the rehab floor or to another place. IMPORTANT: keep telling them you have no money and the need to get you covered with Medicaid if you aren't already covered. Sometimes they get lazy with the paperwork. Don't sign any paper work that says you are the Guarantor. Still praying sweetie. L&H&P's

Spookers! That is hysterical.... Only those aren't flip-flops.... Geez, I wish I was there! This is the "dusting to maybe 1" of snow" for our weather central who can't forcast BEANS!
And our Thermometer! The HUMIDITY is 90%! I must stay in and whine today.
-
Dutchy Thanks, another thing I've learned over the years for traumatic thoughts is to say outloud NO, then think of something happy or pray. Afterawhile I no longer have to yell it, I can just think NO. Helps in a supermarket not to go around yelling NO. Kind of startles folks.
Wren did you see my post. Did you understand it?
Hi1---hop your sis does okay. Sounds like she's in the "It can't happen to me phase" I'm with you hope it stays that way. Jazzy's right. About the other tests.and everything
Jazzy so glad you came back , you have such nice calming wisdom

@22222, & Blessings, and Paws, PattyP------HUGS
Chevy we are on your train. Mashed potatoes are the GREATEST comfort food with Chocloate. The slim fast is very good warmed up. Tatse just like real hot chocolate. $$$$4444 passed through a couple of weeks ago. Whose Bruno Mars?
Thank you Spookie
Yup I'm wearing my Birlie's too with fuzzy warm socks, Pants nightgown, fuzzy robe and sweat shirt. Sun needs to come and warm us up.Jwooooooooooo praying for you and DBF and Family. Hold tight.
Waving to anyone I missed

-
OOPs DBF is putting in a HVAC system today. He forgot a box. I may have to drive about 100 miles round trip. oh well. Yup driving. Have a nice day
Sunny and Blue skies, nice day for a drive. L&H&P's sassy -
Ok, I'm going to celebrate for at least a week. I think I'll be having steak two days in a row . It's snowing here also.
Holeinone....I don't think you're a whiner at all.(My phone tried to change whiner to winner. That would have been bad.) The cheese and crackers look good tho. I hope all goes well for your sister. It's probably good if she doesn't "get it" right now as long as she is getting it checked out. She can "get it" later if need be.
Blondie....So good to hear from you. I hope the new place is nice and the pain is minimal.
Sas...good luck tomorrow. I'll be think about you.
Waving to everyone else.

Who said flip flops?

-
Spookiesmom, You had to post that picture?? I am watching a frozen Lake Erie, it's 93% covered in ice, and the beginning of 12 inches of snow!! While very pretty, I am sick of cold already this year. That groundhog better be quick this year, there are a lot of people waiting for him to peek out of hole! Please post palm trees!
-
Good morning ladies- well, I was up last night for awhile so I slept in today. After several days of clouds, rain and snow, I woke up to sunny skies. I love the moisture, we need it here in the desert, but love my sunshine too!
Chevy- I do work in healthcare, and have a sis who is a doc, and other healthcare professional friends and they all said, when you hit 50, stuff starts changing. Joint problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, you name it. I hit 52 and a whole lot of stuff changed for me, including the bc diagnosis. For all the good health I had for years, I really spiraled that year. I had many people say they were shocked things go so bad for me; a reminder it could happen to them too! But because I was in relatively good health before, I think it helped me to come through things pretty well. But I am not the same person I was before that. I don't have the same energy, I take way too many pills now for various things, etc. I put myself and my health first now with my decision-making.
I am constantly having to re-educate some of my friends about my new normal. I will not push myself to do sports that no longer fit, little to no booze anymore, etc. Interestingly enough, the biggest problem folks have had is that I don't drink that much anymore. I allow myself a couple glasses of wine from time to time around biz dinners, special events, etc. My MO's told me no more than 2-3 drinks a week, and I rarely even do that. I used to drink more, and boy don't you find out who the people are who are really needing drinking partners! I had one person say to me "can't you just have more once and awhile?" I said I could, but then I am also giving myself permission for a higher chance of reoccurrence". I had to hard line that person with "the choice between extra cocktails and cancer re-occurrence is simple to me." What I find very interesting about it is that I am not telling THEM they cannot drink anymore. I will go out for drinks and just drink seltzer or other beverages, and enjoy some good food many times. And I am just fine with that too!
Sas-thanks for the warm welcome back and kind words. I always liked this thread and hopefully I will be able to keep up once I go back to work and have less time to check in on these threads.
Oh and on the subject of birthdays, mine is coming up in March and I made plans for a short trip to CA around that time. My new motto for this year is going to be "55 and still alive!" I thought of that one last night at the gym.....
I hope all those of you who enjoy Superbowl sunday have a great time with the game and the good eats!
-
-
Oh to be 55 again! I never felt like I was "older" until I was 75.... and then that SOUNDED so "old"..... I just don't feel it in my head.... My brain has to catch up with my body I think.... Or maybe that's why I keep on going.... My brain is just doing it's own thing.... and not paying attention to all the "things" I'm supposed to notice....
I went out and helped DH shovel the "dusting" of snow we got.... 8/9 inches of snow is just a "dusting." I told him we "ain't a gonna shovel anywhere where we are not walking...the rest can melt"... and the sun is trying to come out.... But we have to go feed the chickens.... And we had to shovel paths over to the fence where we have the Squirrel feeders.... They were LATE getting out this morning.... must have looked out and snuggled right back in their beds.

-

They have put on their Winter coats.... Ours look like this too! All 5 of them....
-
ok Beach you asked

-
these are the end of my street

-
LOL, awesome!! Green grass too, way more than I asked for! The Ohio Turnpike has issued a travel ban for certain vehicles because it is too dangerous to be on the turnpike with them until noon Monday. No horse trailers, campers, triple trailers etc. Gotta love it!
-
A nurse I work with told me stuff starts falling off at 50. Don't look behind you when you walk.
-
jazzy...you and me 55 next month.....partyyyyyyyyy!!!!!
Holeinone, good luck Thursday. You will be in my thoughts and prayers all day

Sas....hope it was informative reading...you go girl. You know you have to keep that up to educate us. We count on you girlfriend

Chevy, yep, knitted all day. Got two more things to finish. I love starting projects, gotta learn to finish them. So I am not letting myself start another till all is finished. then a new one...yeahhhhhhh
We have snow....my friend wants to cross country tomorrow...ha ha....well, she is a nurse and knows cpr, so I am going to give it a shot. My breathing gets better every week...tomorrow will be a good test...I think. Now don't worry sas, I won't do to much.
Happy super bowl Sunday .
Blondiex, so nice to see your post. Hope the new place is all sunshine and rainbows . You deserve it

Patty p, how are you feeling?? Is the pain more manageable?
Hey, I have flip flops too 😜
Be well everyone God bless
-
-
Susan!! LOVE IT!!!!
Beach, I'm originally from Cinti. I understand
-
Oh now I get it, a snowbird! Be glad all you warm weather Ladies, we are just shoveling away today. Probably 12 inches when it's over. At least I don't live on the East side of Cleveland!
-
SAS, Yes, saw and understood.
I'm just trying to decide which of the 45 PAGES of lymph threads to read. Have read a couple at least. My PT is going to email the lymph person in the Olympia clinic to ask if she knows of someone good locally. Too bad Olympia is about 2 hours away in heavy traffic.
-
Chevy- oh those squirrels are getting ready for spring! New families about to get started.
Spookie- nothing like nice FL weather this time of the year. I like the earlier picture too of your feet and little Spookie nearby. Such a cutie!
Susan- I am glad you are doing some cross country. I thought about going snow shoeing today, but opted to go swimming at the gym. I have a quirky knee and it is bothering me (my own fault for probably overdoing it with weights yesterday). I hope you enjoy yourself and time with your friend.
And party on the thread in March for you and me!
-
Chevy, you know what those first 2 squirrels were doing, right? You'll have more than 5 this spring!
In every bodies pocket this week. Susan, your feet? You crazy! Freeze any toes?? It was 75 here yesterday! Didn't go out. Did take GS to play last night, he wasn't sure at first but said he did like it at the end. He's 11. It was Joseph and his technicolor dreamcoat. This GS was suppose to start making his quilt today, don't think its going to happen, he's still asleep. I don't feel much up to helping him anyway, so we'll try again in a week or so.
Have a nice SB if that's your thing. Don't much care, if we watch it, it will be for the commercials
-

For all us oldies. I have my BD in a couple weeks. Milestone, 65! Already got my Medicare card. Haha
For you poor gals in the north country

(Jazzy, dirty minds think alike!). Oops, great minds!!
-
SMARTY!!!!!!!!!! But those weren't MY Squirrels.... funny I picked THAT picture.... Hah! They probably WERE, because the 1st ones tail was straight OVER her.... My squirrels have more discretion.... They need music and darkness.... I just know this.....
Sun is out now! Warming up a bit.... and the snow is melting.... Almost up to freezing!
Susan! Flip Flops in the snow.... Ha!

Look how cute these are!
-
Chevy- the die winter die photo is so funny. I have someone I have to share that with on FB!
-
Oh and cute flip flops too. I am a fan of them, and have bunch myself. I can't wait to wear them in Cali in a few more months.
My favorite brand are called Fit Flops, for those of you who may be foot challenged as I am. I have really stiff feet from the AIs and also issues with plantars faciitis. They are a great solution for those that love flip flops, but need better support!
