The E-LAB Project

With the new year just around the corner, I'm wondering if anyone wants to renew this thread with me?
-
Ola! I would like to join the E-Lab club. I am resuming a diet I was on 2 years ago that I was successful on - but stopped when I was dx & treated for breast cancer.
I just saw my oncologist / December is my 2 year mark for my last dose of chemo. I was a little confused about soy & she gave me the green light.
I see the list at the beginning of the post - I'll watch to see what day is chosen to check in!
Patty
-
I'm in!
-
I'm in too!
-
Ok, let's see if I remember how to do this, haha
Friday check-in ~ 3
Water ~ 4 (got an awesome new portable glass camelback water bottle from my darling son for Christmas, it will help!)
Weight January start (164.7) ~ ughh ~ 0 pts
Exercise ~ are we doing movement or actual exercise? ~ 1
Extra Credit ~ 0
Total ~ 8
It can only get better from here!
-
hi zogo, NM, and Patty (welcome!).
Friday check-in = 3 points
Weight = 0 points (using this check-in as baseline measurement)
Exercise = 0 points
Daily H2O = 0 points
Extra credit = 1 point – had the courage to step on the scale this morning and it was not pretty!
Total = 4
Let's make water points other than all-or-nothing. How about 1 point for every 500 ml (~16 oz) ?
Happy New Year! ♥
-
NMchecking in:
Friday Check in =1 points (I'm late)
Weight 236# = 0points (this will be my new starting point)
Water Intake =0 points
Exercise =0 points
Extra Credit = 1 point,committing to E-Lab going forward
Total = 2points
Well, no place to go but up for me!
I like the idea of 1 point per 500 ml/16 oz water.
-
Good Morning ladies!! I didn't know we are starting. I will start as of today and enter next week.
I won't be entering my weight, but will tell you if I've gained or lost weight during each week.
Good luck to each of us & Happy New Year-
Patt
-
Patty, I don't give my weight either, it's optional. But I need to lose 20 lbs.
So we check in on Friday. Here's the revised POINT SYSTEM:
Down from the prior week = 2 points
Maintaining from prior week = 1 point
Gaining from prior week for those who need to gain = 2 points
Exercising = 1 point for each 30 minutes of exercise (keep track)
Making the Friday Check-in = 3 points (late check-in = 1 point)
Meeting daily water intake - 6 glasses of 8 ounces of water per day--about a liter and a half = 1 point per day (keep track)"Extra Credit" = 1 point for special things done to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
Friday is day one, so score is for the preceding Friday through Thursday period.
Glad to have you all on board. Patoo may join us when she's back from FL. ♥
-
You're funny badger, but, yes, I'm joining and will start Friday. Matter of fact will put reminder alarm on my phone for every Friday.
-
Yay! Hi Patoo
Way to rock the technology! I need to figure out alarms...
-

-
Week 2, Yay!
Friday ~ 3
Wt (162.8) down by almost 2# ~ 2 pts
Exercise ~ 3
Water ~ 20 (Not sure this one is worth a point a quart? And I didn't even push the water this week. Maybe we set our own goal?)
-
hi Jane, I have a 600 ml camelback that I fill and drink at least twice a day.
So I figure 2 points x 7 days = 14 points
I like this better than 1 point for 48 oz/1.5 liters per day and getting zero points if you miss the mark.
Thoughts?
-
Hi friends, thanks for bringing this back. The more accountability the better to stick with it.
Friday check-in = 3 pts.

Extra = came back to E-LAB = 1 pt

I totally stole this from Ruth on the Let's Post our Daily Exercise thread ~
This Girl Can
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aN7lt0CYwHg&app=desktop
"A background on the 'this girl can' video: Sport England is an organization that funds fitness programs in the UK. In their surveys they found that most women in their country wanted to be more active but were intimidated. They felt they were too heavy, too old, too uncoordinated, too self-conscious, or too whatever .....so they created this video of real women of all shapes & sizes just out there moving & having fun. If 'this girl can', then every other girl can too."

Hey, gang, been getting my butt kicked by an asthma attack--full mode, high dose steroids, nebulizers every 4 hours around the clock, living on tea, ginger ale and chocolate. So I am not posting any results for this last week, and will pick up on Monday. That's my last day on steroids and I am able to cough without peeing myself and actually walk up a flight of stairs without stopping to rest twice. Any weight I've lost is water, as I am dehydrated. So, writing off this week. BUT--anxious to get back into the routine, and now have a fitbit to help me with tracking things, so looking forward to turning my health around, then working on the weight issue!
-
Praying you feel better soon NM!
-
Hey NM thanks for checking in. Was wondering where you were last week. Sorry you've been sidelined with lung issues. Hope you feel better soon so you can use that new fitbit. ♥
-
Thanks ladies. I am feeling better, got the fitbit set up yesterday, Looking forward to seeing what kind of information I will get from it.
Onward and upright, or bettter, downward!
-
Hey NM, sorry to hear you are under the weather. I have a fitbit and I love it! Got the Aria fitbit scale for Christmas. It hasn't been my friend this week, but it's pretty cool that it sends the info by wifi to my fitbit app.
-
Zogo--I was looking at the scale, thinking I'll get myself one, I love the way that little thing sends info to my phone as well as the computer. Still stumbling through some of it, but learning. I just figured out that I can log foods through the phone, too! Very cool gizmo!
-
hi ladies, Happy Friday!

Exercise = 13 points
Daily H2O = 7 points
Extra credit = 1 point – completed the 10-day sugar challenge. Had no food with added sugars (fruit is OK) except some salad dressing with a smidge of organic honey. I'm so glad I did this. My eating and shopping habits are transformed!

Well, i could have sworn I posted my check in yesterday, but I don't see it , so here goes again:
Friday Check in =3 points
Weight:232 # = 2 points
Water Intake = 13 points
Exercise:13 very active minutes = 0.4 points
Extra Credit:Got my Fitbit set up and running = 1 point
Total = 19.4
I like this Fitbit thingy!I really like having it talk to my phone, so I can see where I'm at during the day.I've looked over the first week of data--it's not a full week, got 5 days worth of info, but it's a good start.I'm going to use the "Very Active Minutes" as my exercise count.I know it's 1 point per 30 minutes, but I am currently at a daily average of 3 Very Active Minutes, and since I need to do baby steps I'm going to calculate partial points as I work my way up.Seeing the tiny, less than 1 point number will motivate me, and seeing it move up toward 1 will keep me motivated!
Actually the total should be 17 points, adjusting for the late check in.
Badger--nice work with the 10 day sugar challenge.I really should do something like that, but it seems rather daunting.
Patoo--Good to see you and good work!
Zogo--joining you with the late check in.Hooray for hitting 10K steps!I'm around 3k as a baseline, next goal for me is 3500 steps, measly compared to what you are doing!
-
Ok, let's see if I can remember to submit this one this morning:
Friday Check in =3 points
Weight:230 # = 2 points
Water Intake =13 points
Exercise:14 very active minutes = 0.5 points
Extra Credit:said "no" to an extra work shift when I didn't feel well = 1 point
Total = 19.5
