momof2 - wonderful that you are free of the sling. Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving, the pecan pie cobbler sounds delicious, if you do get the recipe you will have to share it with us. And you sound so productive with the decluttering of the bedrooms - very inspiring, there are quite a few things I need to do around my house - are you on Facebook, Momof2? Many of us catch up with each other there, it would be lovely to have you join us
Edi - glad that you are starting on the Vitamin B12 shots, should make a big difference. Your daughter is very generous, looks like the perfect place to celebrate your birthday and life in general!
This was my last week for the aircast - the foot/ankle is feeling stiff, as expected, I will give it a few days before I report on how it is doing - I do start another round of physio next week. Have some tests coming up at the end of next week that we could have some pocket parties for - mammo, U/S and chest x-ray
Weather here has warmed up beautifully this week

Take care everyone
-
Hi gorgeous girls.
First B12 injection last Friday owwww !! Five more in next two weeks then hopefully will be swinging from the chandelier 😀. Nurse did say may take a while to take effect 😕.
Web sister, hope you too will be feeling better by Xmas. The hotel break was so posh ! DD had won it last year and as she couldn't fit it in gave it to us. So generous and was very Downtown Abbey. Everyone should spend their birthday somewhere like that.
Love to all xx

I only pop on the boards once in awhile now.
websister...in your pockets, for sure, and always. Congrats on ditching the cast. FINALLY!!!!!
momof....I second the idea of facebook for you. There are ways to keep yourself fairly private, and it is so refreshing to see the "normal" side of friends too. I was a very reluctant joiner, but it is a great way to stay connected while leaving the cloak of bc in the closet. I know that the mental connection with bc is something I want to put as far in the background as possible. Kind of like dropping a book in the library chute....been there, done it, I'm moving on!!!!!

I have been feeling.... nostalgic? or something, today. Thinking about how far we have all come together. So I took a peek back in this thread. Two years ago today: Benny posted a pic of herself in her wig and a cute hat. Bearcub had to drive through a blizzard to go to CT sim for rads. Lesleyanne was about to have her last surgery (of many). Edi was packing for a weekend away with friends and 60s music. Traii, Dakota, Edi, Benny & I were all in the midst of chemo and comparing notes on SEs and bald heads. Websister and bearcub were a bit ahead of us and cheering us on. Bevlee was just starting chemo so we were all cheering her on.
Remember the stories Edi would write about the Warrior Sisters in our peaceful valley? :-)
I am so thankful and appreciate each and every one of you so much.
-
Jennie…I was lurking as a reader only that year. I had a lumpectomy and escaped chemo that year with radiation. BUT that did not last long because the next year I joined the big girls like you who had already traveled this road. I remember how the chemo would cause me to have terrible dreams and my taste buds were not allowing me to enjoy my coffee. So I would get up at 4:30 - 5 am and roam the boards. At that time Edi was the only person up so she would be my first contact each morning.
This year, I should want to celebrate many things…but I have no desire for a Christmas tree. My husband are just going to rest and count our blessings.
This week Nihahi urged me to come on over to the FB side. It has been enjoyable to fit real names with screen names. Everyone seems to have gotten along for the most part from being "In Shock". I am still a year behind everyone, but at least I am not in active treatment this year for Christmas,
If you are on FB you may already be linked to some of the gang. If not, PM me or Nihahi, and we will hook you up. I am still new to FB, that is why I included Nihahi…our lead Warrior! So come join the gang for fun. Then we can come back here to complain about the side effects of hormonal therapy and give each other the support we still need.

I came late to the thread, but two years ago I had just had my mastectomy (12/12/12!).
I like Facebook, but wouldn't want to air all my bc stuff necessarily on there. I guess some people do

The next stage of my journey is reconstruction Jan 6, together with getting rid of my 2nd breast. Can't wait! I hate it!!
So I expect to be mainly hanging out on the recon forums (fora? fori?)

-
Morwenna…I have you on my pocket calendar, Jan. 6. You passed the 2 year mark …. This is another big step. I know you have been waiting for this appointment a long time. I will be in your pockets to make sure they take good care of you

-
I got my date today for reconstruction and prophylactic left mastectomy - June 9th, 2015 - three years from the day that I had my biopsy that led to my BC diagnosis. Closure.
-
I didn't realise that it was such an auspicious date! How apt! xxx
-
One of those silly quiz things popped up on facebook and I clicked on it just for fun.
It was "What Job Would You Have In Medieval Times?" LOL
Look what came up in the results!

Merry Christmas to all my warrior sisters!
-
love it !!!! Happy happy holidays to everyone !!! Muah
-
That's cool!
Morwenna is actually my "warrior" name! She was a very successful archer in an online game I played at some silly time in my life!

Merry Christmas everybody, and a happy and HEALTHY New Year! xxxx
-
Wishing all my warrior sisters a Merry Christmas and yes, very healthy and happy New Years
-
Hi Gorgeous Girls!
Just a quick check in to say "Hi" and I hope that you all had a fabulous Christmas & wishing us all a Happy, Healthy & Safe 2015!!

good to hear from you, Traii - I was thinking of you this a.m. when I heard that Australia had already rung in the New Year! Love the tattoo
-
Happy New Year to all my Warrior Sisters!
-
Let us all have a wonderful 2015…Warrior Sisters.
Mo…4 more days
In your pocket. -
....... and counting! Thanks for thinking of me ..... I'm not sure I'm allowed pockets in the OR .... Maybe hide under the stretcher??
Love you all, ladies xxx
-
under the stretcher it is, Mo! I've been thinking about you today.
Have a good weekend everyone - cold and snowy here
Take care
-
Morwenna,
Hope the frigid weather does not delay your surgery. You will be in my thoughts tomorrow…and wishing you comfort during recovery.
Get a good night's rest.
-
Thanks

A good night's rest????? I just called the hospital: they want me there at 5.30 ..... AM........ In the MORNING!!!

-
hi everyone
Just thought I'd pop on and let everyone know of my recent hospital experience, I had a hysterectomy on Monday and they cut a blood vessel and I started to bleed out so they had to open me up hip to hip to find and stop the bleed,
I needed a blood transfusion because my blood count was 7.5 by the time they'd stopped the bleeding but the surgeon wouldn't do it because of new research showing that blood transfusions are causing increased risk of breast cancer recurrences, some of the other doctors at the same hospital were unaware of this
I'm ok now bloods are currently 8.3 and I'm on iron tablets but just thought I'd let you all know this new researched information as I know through chemo and ops blood transfusions can happen
Hope everyone's is well
Take care
Gill

Oh Jackpot…that is terrifying. I do hope you are healing without complications from that radical scar. Interesting about the blood transfusion. Usually it is the WBCs and plasma that carry the antibodies and potential antigens. Many doctors transfuse washed packed RBCs with saline for those needing hemoglobin. But you should rebound soon with the iron supplement.
I am still recovering from shoulder surgery that was in early Oct. Dang, I do hope that 2015 will bring a better year for all of us…especially my TNBC sisters.
Take care ((HUGS))
-
jackpot - I didn't know about the connection between blood transfusions and cancer - how interesting! So sorry to hear about your horrendous experience - that must have been a nightmare for you. Sure hope your hemoglobin rebounds quickly and that you are getting adequate pain meds for such a big incision. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Take care

Hi 😎, very belated wishes to all my sisters. Also a Happy and healthy 2015.
I was on a cruise from 19th December-5th Jan. 🚢 . DH is neurotic about putting info like that on the internet so couldn't send my wishes before. 😭
Thought about each and everyone of you, especially at midnight on the 31st.
We have all come such a long way on a really long and hard journey. Wonderful that we are still here.
Personally don't think I would have got here without you amazing Warrior Sisters supporting me through the treatment and se's. For that I thank you. 😘
So many of us are on Facebook and it too is a more light hearted support, lovely to see who is up to what. Weather in far away places and beautiful photos.
"In Shock" will always hold a special place in my heart.
Morwenna, hope you are recovering quickly.
Jackpot, you too, didn't know about transfusions problem either.
Will keep popping back here.

-
Edi - you look fabulous. Good for you going on a cruise - that is on my to do list, for sure. Glad that you are keeping well. I am looking forward to a less stressful year in 2015 . The year that has just passed was a challenging one
-
Adagio, you go on that cruise as soon as you can. We all deserve spoi!ing after the last few years. It was so restful and I like being waited on 😀 hope 2015 is better for you xx
-
Just popping in to say hello to the ladies I don't "see" on FB...I hope this new year brings all of us what we most desire, whatever that may be. I am forever grateful to you all, my Warrior Sisters!
XO
Jackie

Today is 2 yrs PFC for me. Just had to pop in and say how thankful I am to all of you. The whole site is wonderful but for whatever reason this thread was the one that got me through the most. If I could have one wish come true, it would be that we could all get together in person some day. Just a dream, I know. All in my thoughts and prayers always. Hugs
-
P. S. I may have mentioned awhile back, in odd moments I have been reading the whole thing from the beginning and WOW, we have all come SO far......
