Mo....yep!!!! take a vaca break.
-
liefie - I must say that I share your husband's feelings about cruises and the notion of feeling like a caged lion rings very true with me. I have never been on a cruise simply because I like to be on the go all the time, but one day I will take a cruise - please let me know how y like it! Hope you have a fabulous time!
Morwenna - that totally sucks being left dangling like that in regards to your surgery! First you had your hopes up and now you have been totally let down. Perhaps October is just not the right time for you - keep busy, and before you know it, January will be here.
Websister - how awful to have to wait so long to get action on your ankle - that is total frustration! You must have the patience of a saint to live with that. Have you considered trying to go privately? It may not be as expensive as you think, and if you can afford it, it might be worth checking out. Just my 2 cents worth!
Bridal shower for DD#2 is this coming weekend, and the wedding is a mere 2 weeks away after that - this girl is so disorganized and has left so much stuff to the very last minute!!! Hoping I will survive. I do not even have a dress to wear yet - help!!!
My out of town company have all left now, so at least I have a bit of emotional space and some peace and quiet to collect my thoughts. I will be ready for a nice holiday of simply relaxing and doing nothing after all the excitement of 2 weddings. I am hanging in there.
-
momof2 - how awful that your friend took you for a ride! That is just the worst feeling in the world and can make one feel pretty dejected. She is one lucky person to have had you to help her through tough times - you can hold your head high that you did your best to help her, but I think it is time for her to be on her own!! Hope you are feeling better soon. Keep busy! Glad your should is starting to feel a bit better. Take care.
-
Morwenna - how awful - they really should have investigated prior to calling you
I totally understand the go away and forget about this for a while feeling. What a roller coaster we continue to be on."Liefie - your cruise sounds wonderful - very happy that you and DH are getting away for a week
Andrea - yes, I've been a nurse here for 35 years and health care has really deteriorated here re: access to services
Edi - you are volunteering for all the right reasons - I hope the politics don't keep you from doing it
-
Good Morning Ladies,
Liefie…you will be coming to the East Coast…I will be waving to your plane as you pass over GA. Have a wonderful time on your cruise. I am like your husband, I just have a terrible time with motion sickness. With a DH that is 6'7"… I am afraid he would take up most of the cabin space
Mo…that is just crappy! Not more to say except, enjoy the holidays and then have the surgery.
Websister… I went to my ortho doc today…Want to trade injuries…an ankle for a shoulder? I was totally surprised at the results.
I have a bone spur that has torn the tendon around the rotator cuff…common…BUT if the tear is greater than 50% he will have to put in stitches and immobilize my right arm for 2 months. Oh, the fun never ceases. Surgery is Oct 6….oops, that colonoscopy on the 9th will have to wait…too bad.
Guess I had better get busy doing all my projects! If I have my right arm in a sling, I am not going to be doing much sewing or painting.
ARGH! Funny thing…the doc said I had developed some sneaky modifications in being able to move my right arm without excruciating pain. That's me …I am so sneaky. I am also getting OLD. I looked in the mirror this morning and realized that I look like a chia pet with this curly gray hair. It has grown but just continues to curl, so it does not look like I have any length. I wonder if my stylist could do anything about this frizzy mound of gray?
Gosh, I really am not that upset…just trying to make fun out of old age…LOL
Hope everyone is doing good…think I will go have some ice tea now. Love ya'll
-
momof2 - quite the way to get out of the colonoscopy! I don't think I'll take the trade but I will take your ortho doc - maybe he could get this ankle recovery back on track for me
You looked great in the wedding photos you posted, I bet your stylist could shape your hair up a bit for you, young lady

It is our 32nd wedding anniversary today and without knowing we had both booked with our dentist for crowns today, mine on a back tooth, my husband getting the final crowns on his front teeth. Quite the way to spend our anniversary - the dentist was teasing us about whether 32 constitutes a 'porcelain' anniversary
-
wesister....must be the season. Hubby is getting some porcelain work done too!
-
Happy Anniversary Websister…..LOL porcelain anniversary….go out and buy a piece of Lladro porcelain . DH and I had #33 in June…my how time flies.
-
Happy anniversary Websister! Porcelain or not, it is quite the achievement!
Momof2, your hair will settle in time. I also had an unruly mop of curls, but two years out my hair is straight again. Every time mine was cut, it became straighter until all curl was gone. Bought myself some patches for sea sickness - not taking any chances. Lol.
We celebrated # 35 in June.
-
Liefie,
Have fun on your cruise. I have only been once and it was my son's wedding. He was married on board before we left Miami. There were 29 in our group and had something going all the time. Our kids could not believe we were at the clubs and shows at night and then going all day on adventures. Little do they know we totally crashed for days once we got home I just want to let you know you can also get wrist bands from the pharmacy that work on pressure points of your wrists that help prevent sea sickness without the sleepy side effects of medication.

I just had a phone call from Movie. As some of you already know, her husband had a horrific accident on Labour Day when he fell off a ladder. He sustained severe brain injuries, and passed away in the OR. It was so good to hear her voice, and she asked me to tell all of you that she can feel the prayers and love going out to her from all of us here. The memorial service will be on Saturday. Finally she wants you to know that she loves you all very, very much, and that she appreciates your love and support.
-
thanks liefie......she has been in all our thoughts and prayers.
-
thanks Liefie...keeping Movie in my thoughts and prayers tonight.
-
Oh, I am so very sad to hear this. My sincere condolences to Jackie and her family. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Jenifer
-
Sigh. Ups and downs!
It's our 32 nd anniversary also, on Sept 11.
I'm OK about the surgery not happening yet. It was scaring the pants off me anyway, and quite inconvenient for work, so January is fine!

I just find the news about Movie's husband so devastating. All our thoughts will be with you and your family tomorrow m'dear! xxx
Those of you with joint problems .... well I suppose it goes to show life goes on! I had hoped to be able to run the 5k Run for the Cure, but I shall have to walk it cos my achilles won't let me run! Fundraising has gone through the roof in the last 36 hours, since I posted on Facebook that I was going to have to pay for my own pink bloody t-shirt at the rate I was going. I guess all my friends and family took pity on me and my funds have gone from $170 to $980 in one day!!! Now I guess I'm going to HAVE to do it!!!

Well paddling is about done for the season, and I have a ton of catching up to do with my singing when I get back from my hols!!

Love to you all,
Rose xx
-
movie,
So sorry
hugs to you. Muah -
How tragic! I am so sorry to hear that news. My thoughts and prayers for her and the family too.
-
Liefie - thanks so much for relaying the message - so sorry to hear, thinking of you and your family Movie - you will especially be in our thoughts and prayers tomorrow for the memorial - I have enjoyed the pictures and tributes on Facebook
So many anniversaries in the 30's here - very nice to see
Morwenna - sorry to read about your Achilles - is it a past injury acting up or did you injure it recently?
-
It is something that used to pull me up from time to time when I played field hockey Websister. Then I was jogging (nothing really) during a warm up for paddling earlier this summer, and it announced its presence and hasn't really left, although it comes and goes a bit. Some mornings it is really stiff just getting out of bed, and then dpesnt bother me for ages til I try to run! Boring!!
-
Prayers for Movie & family today for sure. It's just heartbreaking, you never know when tragedy will strike.
Today is the 2-yr anniversary of when the cancer was removed from my body. An introspective sort of day.
-
Jennie93,
Congrats on being cancer free for two years. My one year is coming up Sept.11th. I think of all the people who lost their lives on that date an feel so fortunate to still be able to enjoy even the smallest of things like the birds chirping in the morning or a starry night. Hate cancer but it has not been able to steal my joy :-)
-
A somber day in the USA…
Jo…Congratulations on one year cancer free.
Liefie…Hope you are having a wonderful day on your cruise.
Not much going on here…trying to limit my movements of my right shoulder in an effort to minimize further damage. Surgery will be 10/6. I do hope my recovery will not require my arm to be in a sling too long. Sometimes I feel like all my parts are wearing out….will the knees be next?
Last night I went on an archaeologic dig in my upstairs sewing room. What does it say about a person who finds it so difficult to discard leftover fabric? I am proud to say that I hauled out at least 12 empty fabric rolls and 3 cardboard flats. Then the thrift store truck came this morning and they took away the chair, sofa, artificial palm tree, and box of random stuff. So now my bonus room is clear and ready for a new sofa tomorrow! Tonight I am going to do some more organizing of my sewing stuff. But I must say, I got a lot done last night!
I got a laugh out of last week's temperature in Yachats, OR. The high temp last week reached 93 F and the evening low was 54 F. But the next day things were back to sweatshirt weather.
Hope all are doing well. Movie, you remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Love to all,
Jenifer
-
momof.......purging is such a wonderful feeling....once it's done. Sounds like you did an amazing job. Weather in Yachats is child's play.....we just had 3 days of snow! Calgary has lots of power outages, huge tree branches down....Fun times! Today...sunshine and blue skies...
Some of you may be aware that 9 other gals from the Diep2013 thread are meeting up next week in Oregon with movie. This was planned long before Dave's sudden passing. Jackie asked me to relay a message to you all, so I have copied/pasted the message here.
I had a chat with Jackie (movie) this afternoon. She is such a strong gal, determined to "get through". Just talking to her made me want to reach through the phone and hug her. She wants you all to know that she is aware of the messages of support and has been getting the cards sent to her. She has found great strength and comfort in everyone's thoughts, prayers and "connections". She has placed her mom in a hospice home, and Jackie said she felt the peace and "transition" atmosphere of the place, as soon as she stepped through the door. A difficult, but truly "right" step for Jackie to take. I encouraged her to use her energy for what "she" most needs, and we had a bit of a laugh at all the "we're coming" messages. She is knee deep in delinquent washing machine issues, all the legal/paperwork "things" that come with someone's passing, but is truly truly looking forward to the weekend with us.
-
Jo - congratulations on one year
Jennie - congratulations on two years
Momof2 - As I was reading your post I kept thinking that that would not be how I would describe limiting movement of the right shoulder, sounds like you accomplished a lot though and it must feel very good. October 6th will be here before you know it!
Nihahi - I'm so glad that movie is going to continue with the plans for the get-together - I'm sure there will be lots of healing tears, but also laughter and a real sense of sisterhood for all of you
We sure got hammered again weather wise here this week. So many trees damaged by the snow, when driving it looks like a hurricane hit. I sure hope we return to some good weather again before we have to face more winter weather.
I had my geneticist appointment on Wednesday. Funny to be a patient at the children's hospital here but that's where the genetics clinic is. The geneticist was not how I would have envisioned her. She was very attractive, youngish I.el late 30's or so). We reviewed my history and my family history on both sides and then she examined me. She will pursue the Cowden's testing and says that I should have results within three or four months but said I should contact them if I get a surgery date that is before then. They are also testing the tumor tissue from my Dad and paternal aunt for Lynch syndrome and if that turns out positive I will be tested for that also. So progress in that area. I am not so patiently waiting for my appointment with my GP re: left ankle and foot - it is not improving on it's own
So nice to have a weekend again - I wish you all a good one
Take care

Hi 😎,
This is my THIRD attempt 😞 the other two in cyber space.
Web sister, sorry to hear you still in pain, hope you get relief very soon . The weather sounds beyond belief and the pictures on f/b are scary. We are waiting for it to change here any day. Thermals are at the ready.
Jo, congratulations one one year.
Jennie, same for you on the two years.
My two years if week after next 😀 Also my second visit to the man who removed it for my check up. Hopefully this time just in and out and a cup of coffee as my reward for being g brave.
Momof, need you here !! So much clutter and can't rev up to sort. That shoulder sounds awful. I had frozen one once and that was nasty enough.
9/11 There are no words, just know that here we grieve every year too. A few years before I was on the top of one of the towers on a visit to the big apple. I will never forget the wonderful people we met there, the elevator man who comforted my ED when she felt faint, the lady in the cafe who wished us a nice day.😢
Nihahi, so glad Movie coming to your get together. Give her a hug from me please.
My volunteer work in the charity shop has finished. The lady I worked with has been told that if she continues to do car boot sales she can't work there as well. The lady in question is selling a lot of her personal possessions as her DH is fighting cancer and they are struggling. She took a tiny ornament out of the trash and said she would take it with her, if she sold it she would donate some to the shop but they told her to go. She could have come back after hours and fished it out in the yard but she was up front. Honesty doesn't always pay. I am giving up now as she was lovely to work with and it won't be the same. They are already losing volunteers fast anyway. It has opened my eyes re charity/thrift shops. People drop in bags of lovely things, if the boss is having a busy day she just trashes them to save sorting through ????Will stick to hospital volunteering instead.
Rant over, DH gone on his walk 😀😀😀😀 so I am off for some retail therapy.
Love to all x
-
Good Evening Lovely Ladies,
Well, for the first time in 2 years, I was able to get past 9/17 without a new primary cancer diagnosis. Yippee!
Today I went to my hair stylist to see if she could trim these curls. Oh, what a difference !! I have one of the nicest stylist!
Not much happening here. The sofa that we bought to go in my sewing room was too big to get up the stairs…so we had to get a sectional. But I like the sectional better! Now DH has a comfortable place to sit and give me company while I sew.
Liefie, I hope you had a wonderful cruise.
Edi, that is a shame about your experience with the thrift store.
There is a feeling of fall in the air! That is a welcome relief from the heat and humidity. It is a great time for a long walk!
To all, let's have a wonderful weekend!
Jenifer

Hi 😎,
Momof, sooo happy for you 😀. Lovely news.
Sofa good news in the end, nice that you are feeling up to sewing again.
My two year check up Monday 😱 feeling pretty good right now 😀 more energy at last and very few aches and pains. Omega three fish oil seems to be the miracle cure plus hemp seed oil and selenium.
Really glad charity shop work ended. More time and less hassle. Just working with people who need and appreciate help at the hospital. Have a public demo of scarf tying on Thursday at the hoital so will see if DH will sit for me while I practise my skills. 😄
We went to see" Ultimate eagles" last night, Eagles tribute band. They were excellent and to see loads of older people up dancing and smiling was a tonic. Sweet lady next to me was having a ball. Her hubby confided in mine that she was a 6 year BC survivor !! That made it all even better.
Thinking of you all, love and hugs Edi X
-
Hello
Momof2 - we need to see a picture of the new hairstyle! Glad the sectional worked, how nice that DH keeps you company as you sew.
Edi - you will definitely have to sneak a few pictures if DH agrees to sit for your scarf tying practise sessions! The Eagle tribute concert sounds wonderful! Glad the omega, hemp and selenium are working well for you!
It is a beautiful fall day here. DH picked the apples from our two trees this a.m. I will be busy making apple sauce and apple butter but for the moment I am sitting with my iPad. Paisley is here and napping so I am resting up. Just looked at the baby monitor and she is awake - action!

-
hi ladies !!!! Hockey and soccer in full swing . Busy does not even cover it !!! Hope everyone is well !!! Muah
-
Hi 😎,
Just quick pop on ,two year check up all clear 😀 Doc says one year for next one and chances of reoccccurene drop from now on.
Just pray he is right but giving up panicking as from today.
Love to everyone xx
