Hey there 2nd hru
-
hi Blondie! How's the weather there?
-
To all my Friends: I need to be more active and spend less time on the computer, so December 31st will be my last day on BCO for the year. I will return at the start of the New Year on January 1st. Thank you for understanding, I'll miss you all dearly.
-
wow!! 2nd way to go! I'll miss you, but I understand. I need to get more active too, you are inspiring me! ((hugs))
-
tang, hope you had an easy day at work
-
wow 2nd, does that mean you'll be off 12 hrs or 24? I hope everyone enjoyed there Christmas and families.
Tang, sorry you had to work today. Did the DD finally calm down?
Sass, how does one find grants? I need to see what's out there for men who had testicluar cancer. Remember my granddaughter that got married last spring? They've decided to start a family next year. They just found out the ins doesn't cover IVF and it will cost them $15,000 up front to get started. He lost both testicles, a year apart, he only 23. They did save sperm. Any recommendations
-
Okay so I know this is going to sound nuts but I cannot fall asleep without Xanax ever since my diagnosis. I can sleep a few hours but wake up around 4-5am. I have always been a late sleeper but when I try to go back to sleep, the moment I dose off my body goes into some kind of fight or flight mode and it jolts me awake. Heart beating fast. It's very frustrating because I'm so tired but I can't go to sleep. It's like torture.
-
2ndtimearound - Will miss your postings. Good luck on your new adventures. True you can waste much life putzing on the computer. I find between comings and goings, getting kids or finishing stuff I pop on and pop off the computer. Not enough time to go anywhere, but enough time to visit and see what folks are up to. Kind of addictive, but fun. I try to explain to my kids what we did before cell phones and computers and they just stare at me - I am old enough to remember black and white TV and the change to color!
I hope 2015 is a good year for us all.
Hi Blondie, smarty, Sassy, Mags, Patty, Tang, Holeinone, and everyone else.
-
Owlettes hellooohoot. Hope all are well worn out and glowing from so much Goodwill.
Re-reading last few pages b/c I CRS,
HI1 & Mags I figured "Adam Christmas" was an autocorrect? I saw where you asked if I got banned again? Funny you should ask. I was trying to help some one with their drugs. I got banned for a few hours a week ago(?). If the ban had remained, it would have been until I think Jan 2nd or 5th. But they lifted it. Not quite sure what triggered it, but my first thought was OMD, can't talk to any of you till after the holidays. It wasn't a nice few hours.
Okay Spookie straightened out Christmas Adam and Eve--get it LOL
Mommy your question about why try to lead a normal life when nothing is under your control? Have you found the answer yet, grasshopper?
LMG------visit with DD? When I read what you did with the mint, I put some in my garbage disposal and ran it dry for a few seconds. I'll see what happens. Love the smell of mint. With the thyroid meds my sense of taste & smell is somewhat returned. Mint is the best.
Meow yes feeling better and moving LOL, I made the mistake of starting a step up--step down thingy Dec 23nd, not a good thing with all the activity of the last three days. Glad you are feeling better

Badger sounds delightful and yummy

Tang couldn't find where I said CONGRATS on your test results--Oh what a relief it is.......I watched the papal Mass at St Peter's It was amazing. I love Pope Francis.
Mags that was a lovely story
Enerva, this by now should be the second day of your visit, Hope all is well and you and Chevy get together.
Cami, Hugs hope you are feeling better. Hrumph why do people go to visit when then are sick?
Blondie --hugs hope you are comfortable.
22222222222, didn't go Christmas Eve to DS's thing and DBF didn't come home. Strange night. Made me realize how wonderful all the other Eve's were. How was your's? You goofy sweetie, I had to read that thing re: less time on the computer three times before I figured out it was a joke.
Pattypeppermint hope all is well and you aren't tuckered out more than you were Another blessed Christmas and memories

Wren & Rose such a nice thing to foster the way you do, so kind

Teka

Smarrty hugs, BBLwith some suggestions. Going to see what's on the net particular to testicular cancer.
L&H&P's to all, Sorry if I missed anyone sassy
OMD I forgot my Chevy. Lovey -hugs, hope you had oodles of fun with DH and Janie
-
2TA you crack me up! I'll jump into that one-second void with you LOL.

Sassy, thanks for this thread. I feel fortunate to count you all as sisters and friends. ♥
-
Smarrty, this is going to take a couple of days. In general though, the two places to start are the internet and a face to face meeting with a social worker.
I suggest going through all the different Social Workers available. Each cancer center will have either a staff SW or a contract SW. Insurance carriers have the same. Home & hospice will have the same. The reason for talking to each SW on staff of whatever agency you have contact with, is they each have their own particular "rock in the pond", their general professional knowledge fine tuned by their workplace need.
Each SW will have a list of resources that they use. Most likely the will give you a copy of list which you in turn have to contact. The phone contacts are tedious , but can find hidden money. The one foundation that never bothered to get on charitynavigator that helped us with a total now of 5500.00$ .It's a little foundation that covers only two counties and doesn't publicize.
An internet web site is needymed.org (need to check this b/c it should have hyperlinked when I wrote it). Needymed website was first developed as a resource by a Social Worker and a doc. It grew over the years. It's a huge resource. Navigating the site takes patience. It's kind of like the farmhouse that has had many additions. I use to even do phone instructions on how to use the site. You can start wandering through and see what you can find.
There was a story written by Dr Susan Love about one of her patients that was < 30 with CA. She was adamant about understanding the effect of CA treatment on her fertility. At the time this young woman was trying to get medical advice on the issue, they found that nothing was put together as a resource. After she was able to finally get enough info to proceed, she had eggs harvested & stored , treatment completed, then went on to have three children. She created a Foundation. No idea what the name is, but we should be able to locate it.
In the short search, the only resource for money was the Chain Fund, but Since there is no info since 2013 about financials. I'm guessing they are defunct.
Any Charitable foundation that you might find, before you contact them, let me look at their web info. I did a thread on how to evaluate a 501c3 organization. As a result I learned allot of useful stuff that's necessary, but very boring.
Will take another look tomorrow.
-
sass, I appreciate any help but please don't spend all your time on this.
I did go to needymed then went to Baby Quest. I'll pass this on to GD. Also just found affordingivf.com. It list 13 foundations
-
reminds me, Tang, if I didn't mention before, what a great present you were given with clean results
Welcome ShelleyM
I'll probably get my IT privileges taken away if I admit I've been sleeping most of the day and am still exhausted.
I see my BCO void as probably being around 11:55-1:15 New Year Eve's/Day listening to craziness around here. Couldn't be off of it for too long.
-
Doing ok.. thanks, i need to start contacting peopleI lost my food stamps because one of the twins has job and they're taking his salary. So
-
Hey Owlettes, on my way to bed, gonna take pain meds tonight, this shoulder pain is the pits. I have a PET scan Tuesday and MO visit Wednesday for results. I told RO I couldn't handle rads with this pain and she is sending me to a pain specialist Jan. 6. My shoulder has needed a complete replacement for several years due to arthritis, bone spurs, and adhesions from the 2 surgeries to repair the rotator cuff tendon the bone spurs sliced in two. I don't have a problem with it as long as I can have my arm down, but I have very limited ROM and if it's up it freezes. Just indescribable pain.
I think I'll take that break with you, 2TA. I spend way too much time online...
-
Hello all of you wonderful, beautiful, brave ladies!
Tonight is the first time in some time that I have more than a couple of minutes to read through and talk to everyone. It will also be the last that I have for several weeks, as this is crazy-overtime-no sleep-all work season for me
12 hour days for the foreseeable future. Ok- so I went back to page 654- seemed like a good number. Get ready for a novel here!!
General info- for eating cheetos or other messy snacks- use chopsticks. Keeps the hands clean!
Hope everyone had a great Solstice, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwaanza, or Festivus !
Susan- sending you lots of love. I hope you know we think of you often.
Enerva, glad you are working full time again. Hoping your sister is handling her chemo SEs better. Hope you are enjoying Denver! Another great film about ALZ: "You're looking at me like I live here, and I don't" great doc.
Badger- hope your work project was also a HUGE success! How is everything else?
Wren- how long did you live in London? and why did you leave?? i don;t think i ever would.
Blondie- hope you are well. Have the shingles gone away? Sending you healing thoughts.
MOmmy- how is the Princess? Is Jackson adjusting to her yet? How did the pies turn out?
Sas- What is this neck thingy you are talking about? Omg that pitcher you posted is gorgeous! You find the best glass- i think i need to go to FL just to thrift with you. Thank you for the Fenton catalog link- very helpful. I am not sure my BFF cares if it is real or not, she just loves the color and pattern.
Too bad that shovava site doesn't have that owl scarf any more! beautiful!
I have a claret decanter that was my moms. I actually use it for claret! I think it looks so pretty in it.
Yes- the size M tag should give the age away:) I was thinking, if it was machine stiched, you would know that it wasn't older than the sewing machine, and that would help your search.
What happened with the alarm company?
And what happened at this party? who did you save? what happened?
That cordial is really beautiful. I need to find a set- I have pretty much every other kind of barware.
Thanks for keeping us updated on Phyloioso- please send her love.
Also, keeping your friend with the Cc DX in my thoughts.
Teka- you find the best stuff! I love your posts. Hope you are doing well.
Blessings- really loved The Power of Empathy video. I like to be reminded of what empathy is. Sometimes you try so hard to make it better for the ppl you love, that you miss the connection. it is so important to be present for them instead of trying to fix it. So happy you have a good connection memory with 12/5 now. 3 years - it is nice to see that time makes a difference! No need to apologize for your joy. I think all the BC Sisters (and the few brothers out there) no matter what stage, would be happy for you, and know that you did not intend to hurt anyone. How are your O2 levels these days?
MostlyMom, Lots of hugs for you, your friend, and all her loved ones.
Chevy- nice car!!! and DH is paying for it- score!! But cheetos on the seat- totally unacceptable! I am glad your leg is better, and you got your placard. No reason to park far and aggravate it. Your daughters are so pretty! they take after mom! Hope DH is adjusting to his meds without any issues. How is your asthma? Loved the story about your neighbor, Eddie.
That is the cutest spider ever!
Rose- We got rid of our Volvo because the parts to the dang thing were so $ like VW's and all the rest- nice when they are working- so pricey when they aren't! I love that you gave your car to a needy family and it kept them mobile for a long time. That was really sweet of you. Your daughter sounds like a charming young lady! glad she enjoyed her party. Have you tried Lunesta? works for me usually. Car name: We had a 72 Buick Skylark named Betsy! I loved that car.
Spookie- I hope you got your oldest grandson whipped into shape. Looks like he was behaving for his concert. and Spookie is so pretty! how to you keep her groomed? Love the FL Xmas decor! palm trees and tinsel!
Holein1- Thanks for sharing about Lennon, and your dad. I never knew JL did that. Very kind of him.
mema4- Hi- nice to meet you! that snail and tortoise pic was too cute.
PattyPepper! hope you are feeling stronger after your stomach issues. What is gabapinton for? So glad you are home from the hospital! Sorry I wasn't around to send love- but I hope you know i always send it out to you and everyone here. How are you feeling? I can't believe you had it in you o get your tree up and do all that after being in the hospital.
Cami- how are your eyes? and your computer? anything we can do to help? How is your brother?
2nd- How was your daughter when she came to do homework? sometimes, we just want our mommies. I know I do. Veggie paella is easy! more garlic, no meats/seafood. i put in potatoes, a ton of onions, sweet peppers, lots of beans, peas, and finish it off with tomatoes. mmmmmyummy! I sure hope you are feeling better.
um- last day of the year on BCO? LOL you are cracking me up! off for a whole second and a half maybe?
Smaarty- mmm vanilla rum and coke- love it. Also love Kraken spiced rum and coke. Deeeeelish! how is the GS doing with his quilting? Glad you got your drains out and there was a cutie to do it. and hooray for showers! OMD that was so hard for me to wait. I shower a minimum of once a day. Not sure how I will survive my recon. Love your OR photo!and YAY for sleeping in your own bed! nothing better!
Luvmygoats- nothing worse than septic system issues! Yuck! England was for my friends wedding, and just because I need to travel every few years (or more if i get lucky.) But i did save all my bday and Xmas money for the last 3 years, as well as a little every paycheck as I wanted to go back. It just worked out that I had enough to make it to the wedding! I hope you are feeling better
Myra, so sorry you are having such a hard time with all your treatments. I hope you start feeling better soon. Tamox leaves me so fatigued.
Nettie- your grandbabies are just he bees knees! They are all so cute! You are a very lucky lady. My onco doesn't do and scans or anything. I get blood work done every 3 months, that's it. unless something weird shows up there, she isn't going to expose me to more radiation, etc. But if you are asking for care, and they are ignoring you, i would def find another dr.
Footprints- Sending love and light to you. You always have such positive thoughts coming our way. I hope you feel it coming back to you!
Pawprint! Hoping you got over your cold or whatever was getting you down. I was never offered mental health care, but my ONC team def suggested I look for a therapist if I did not have one, as well as support groups. I didn't do any of that until after my surgery. Should have gone much sooner. My insurance co, however, had a nurse calling me within a week to see if i wanted social work services from them, to help navigate treatment, etc. Again- i was being stubborn and wanted to do it on my own. I don't always make the best decisions
Hope you are surviving the holiday visit from the family!Magdalene- love that fabric! and that dress! *swoon* Your wedding dress is lovely- that eyelet fabric - so beautiful! The story of your DH's family- precious. What a great tradition. So sorry your shoulder is giving you fits. Getting a replacement soon?
TANG! how are you? so so happy your scan is good! *dance* what a great gift this time of year!
Meow13- so nice to have you here! I hope your insomnia goes away, but this is a great place to find conversation.
RedShoes- welcome! hope you are well!
Dutch! longtimenosee! Hope you are feeling good these days.
lyzzysmom- nice to meet you! totally understand that card issue. nothing more annoying than dealing with new cards or accounts.
Sailing- welcome! hope you are well, adn post more art. I love to see what others create.
Shelley- so sorry you cannot sleep. New DX is hard to handle. I did not rest at all. Have you reached out to a therapist yet? If you have questions- ask- most of the women here on this thread are active on the site and have lots of connections and knowledge.
Stay warm and safe, y'all.
(((((super hugs)))))

but I will post all pictures here. I ll come back when weather is better. -
good morning everyone! Enerva, great pic, sorry you won't get to meet Chevy.
jeni, nice to see you. Job is OK but they really need to hire another person.
blondiex46, that stinks about your FS, the rules are so unfair, can you appeal?
I need a shower, a walk, and another cup of coffee but not necessarily in that order. ♥
-
Yes little Enerva! NOW I know what you look like.... Ha!
Except which one are you?
Sorry about this freezin' weather! My Asthma really kicks in for some reason, so I've been staying in. You want to bring over 1/2 gallon of milk? Ha!
Dh will go up today.... probably walk up to Sprouts to get some....
We just have to go feed the Chickens and Cat.... I'm wearing this mask thing I have.... Enerva, it is supposed to get even COLDER! When are you going back to your home?
Hi gals.... Spookie, Sass, Blondie & JWOW!
The friend of mine, Sheilah, that was supposed to meet with us for lunch called, and she is staying home too. Her Son Joe, was married to my Daughter Janie, for about 4 years. They are both 52 now.... But he just had a pace-maker defib put in, and is feeling puny, plus her Husband can hardly walk with his diabetes.... so she says she feels like she is in a nusing home! AND her dog has to see a cardiologist Monday! She is 14, and Sheilah is worried about just everything! I mean what ELSE can go wrong with them?
Okay.... stay warm and safe gals! xoxoxoxo
-
A dog park friend has some bad cardiac issues, so does his dog. They were taking the SAME med!!!!!!
Need to get over there and get the latest sicko reports. One woman knows ALL. I finally told her to hush, and didn't she have any Good news of anybody? I mean, Cancer, near death-out of body experience. Depressing. But I saw the one with Cancer in publix, she's tired doing ok. The other is still in hospital, has been for a month
Christmas was ok here, even with Eyeore mopeing around here.
-
-
Ha Chavy I just came back from out side yes it's cold went to the post office I sent you a little gift, and here is me I found the Harleys Davidson store in Vegas and went nuts lol ha ha ha I only could afford a few small things everything very expensive ;(
-
Jwooooohappy that you are here. Very nice that you include everyone. It's always nice to see our names, makes it feel like home. Does make it hard to include everyone when so many of us have memory issues. I hope that your busy time at work is fun versus drudgery. The saving the guy thingy --he was very near coding. Something as simple as getting him flat on the floor with his legs up ----reversed it. The neck thing--some thyroid tissue is growing, working on it, problem is if it has CA cells in it. Skin issues in maintenance mode. But got a TV for Christmas to put in the bathroom. Soaking for 45-60minutes a day won't be tedious.
That Fenton catalogue really presented their glass well. If your friend is into color and pattern without having to be a specific name. That opens up the world
Thrift stores only though. I did one Antique mall this season and was reminded why I stopped going to them. Overpriced. But I did find some lovely things. The sewing on the Cheongsam(n) was done by machine I think. Everything except the frogs were high level sewing. The frog sewing was amateurish. Odd. Ds'sGF was happy with it , but had never seen one before. I think once she put's it together with the right hairdo and hair jewelry. She had on black pants with boots--that half looked dynamite.
I searched hairpins and jewelry and read the sweetest thing in Wiki. I'll post it next.
When glassing or junking my mantra is "If you like it (particularly if it makes you smile), have a use for it, never have seen it before, and price is right--buy it.
Hugs , come when you can

-
OMD JWoo! I'm nominating that for Post of the Year! Good to see you, I loved the photo diary of your vacation. Head down and plow through the rough days.
Enerva, great pics. Sad you didn't get to meet Chevy, but there will be other times.
It's been snowing here most of the day, but nothing stuck to roads and sidewalks, just a couple inches of light fluffy stuff on the ground. I'm seeing blue skies and sunshine now, so it'll be gone before long.
I used to take Lortabs 5 mg 4x a day, but since my surgery, it gives me a headache even taking half of one, which I did last night. What do you take to get rid of the pain from a pain pill? It's a conundrum.
I never got a shoulder replacement because I got so tired of surgeries, and I actually have four joints that need replacement, both shoulders and both knees. My mom had bad arthritis in her hands and feet, she had two brothers who were wheelchair bound as well. Definitely genetic linked. My hands and feet have escapd, but my knees have no cartilage left, and my shoulders, as I said, are shot. I just need a new body. Who's with me on that
