INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Okay, so my scan is good.

No signs of new disease, that is what the nurse told me. I have an appointment to talk to doctor about after the Holidays. I'm relieved and feel like a weight has been lifted.
I'm baking cookies this afternoon as work is really slow. right now I've got oatmeal/butterscotch cookies going. I swear after the new year I'm gonna get healthier

-
Boy did I need that. First time I have laughed all day. Will have to get off my behind and get to Walmart LOL.
I had been in such a mood today, in bed tired all day and skipped the gym after managing 3 days in a row. Monday is a day off and I want to do things but I find I am often just too tired. Little sleep for years and very little for months. I just had a meltdown activating my new debit card. I went through the auto stuff and when I thought I was done I got transferred to a person who wanted to go through a script (what the blank for) .I was rude before he had a chance to say anything and I yelled really loud at him and told him I just wanted him to activate the darn card. Oops. Felt sorry afterwards and took a lorazepam, Too late for him though. I hope my card works!
He must have thought I was out of my mind
TangandChris, good to hear you had a good scan and can relax and enjoy those cookies. They sound yummy.

Tangarang......

Yay Tang. Now to enjoy the holidays. Cookies sound great. I've not baked anything not even Betty Crocker from a package.
But - drum roll please - did finally find out that DD is coming out Christmas Eve - well early afternoon. But has to go back Christmas Day about the same time. She had asked for Jan. 2nd off but didn't get it. Was maybe planning on staying 2 nights. So anyway house is still a wreck. Need to decide on something to eat Christmas Eve. But then I don't want to spend it all in the kitchen. I don't know maybe a turkey breast again. I can do quick sink thaw. I think grocery tomorrow for a quick trip.
I will have to look for those guys at WalMart. Hmm.
Izzy - sometimes you just gotta blow up. I hate financial things. I've been fighting an insurance/FSA mess that DH finally said just let it go. It's $70 which won't break us but I sure did learn how not to use FSA dollars. That or I got the worst pharmacy clerk at my grocer. After the 1st I need to get a TDaP (tetanus/dip/pertussis whooping cough) and a shingles vaccine. DH needs the shingles and a pneumovax. Have to plan for those, not sure which I will get 1st. I think DH needs the shingles 1st. He is healthy as a horse and don't see pneu. hitting him anytimes soon. I need to call PCP and see if I can get the TDaP there, they were out the last time.

omg too funny, I must visit Walmart too lol
-
Tang- YAY Merry Merry for you eh?? Nice peace of mind.
I stopped at a thrift store today and found the same little cat tower we have for our cats - round sleeping bed, then up to a round scoop bed all carpeted but only about 3 1/2 feet tall for 20.00!!!! It didn't even look like it had been used, clean nice. We paid 68 at the cat rescue place for ours. My daughters cat tower broke because her cat is the fattest cat I have ever seen and he broke it. Seriously he looks like a harbor seal pup... no neck, thick Siamese fur and bright perriwinkle purple- blue eyes! She rescued this poor cat and he thinks he needs to eat every day like he'll never get food again. I call him Chubbs- his name is Pinkerton or Pinky. He will love this thing and it's really sturdy. Now to shampoo it. What a deal! I'll get him cat nip. Hoho! I have been a yacky mood lately... sorry!
-
Tang – Snoopy dance!
-
Great news Tang!
Rose, please encourage your DD to see a vet about how to help her cat lose weight. We've had a few come into the shelter that were the size of 2 cats. They have to lose the weight slowly or it damages their liver. They seem to have sweet personalities.
-
Wren this cat is a chunk. The no kill shelter found him wandering, a chunk out of his ear, broken tail (the bones are kinked), the pads on his feet were worn down and his eyes were infected and matted. The lashes grew inwards and his sight is damaged on one side. We paid for surgery to correct it and now the poor thing can see! His eyes are gorgeous. He is in a 600sq ft apt and eats low calorie food but if his bowl gets empty he HOWLS and drives her and her room mate crazy. He's so fat I worry he'll get diabetes. He's very sweet, very loving just thrilled to have a warm home and his own people! I think she should stop free feeding him. He should get 1/3 cup 2x day and that's it. Maybe he's bored when they are in class. I think he went without food for a long time and eats for comfort. Any suggestions? we tested him for diabetes and he's ok.
-
YEAH!! Tang, way to go! Happy dance!
My DS and family and my dd and family are coming Xmas eve. I told them that's its KFC for dinner. No cooking going on here! They're all ok with that. Just got a scype call from other DS in Australia. They are 3 hours north of sydney, in the tropics, didn't know that about australia. He's finally getting some R&R there. He works too hard.
I'm just realizing that I don't make a good patient. I feel good and want to do stuff. My boobs say NO! All I got to do today was take a shower, wash my hair, clipped my toenails and now the boobs hurt. Crap. I'm going to try to sleep in my bed tonight, hope that works. Im tired of being on the couch.
Hope you are all ready for Xmas. See ya guy's tomorrow.
-
good morning ladies.
Tang - good scan results. Yea ! Nice early Christmas present.
I am still not feeling great. A week out if the hospital , I figured on doing backflips but nope. Still really really weak and tired ALL the time. Boo
Hope everyone has a great pain free day. Too lazy to take notes and cant remember what everyone said. I could look back but I am busy getting my clothes changed to get to walmart. We have 2 walmarts in our town do it looks like double the action. Woohoo.
-
For all of us this morning......
-
Wondering what is the point of trying to live a normal life that's under my control at all anymore.
-
I don't think free feeding is good for anycritter, dog or cat. Check with vet for a good low cal diet food, and how much to feed, twice a day. He'll get over it. He has his humans well trained.
-
happy Christmas Adam Owlettes
-
My babies get enough food to last them the whole day.
-
Mommy, that's fine if they don't finish it by 10am.
I covered a vacation for another foster parent with an enormous foster cat. She bought a timed feeder so it would dispense the correct amount at the preprogramed time. I would take a handful of kibble and toss one piece down the hall. He would run to get it and sit to eat. Then I would toss one the other way and he would run to that. Gave him some exercise and a reward for going down the hall. He did slowly lose weight and became more active. At first he wouldn't play because it was too much exercise.
One of our current fosters is overweight and the other is slightly under, but a small cat already. Although the small one is toothless she likes to eat his kibble out of his dish. He will eat her kibble from time to time (kibble is exactly the same, just tastes better when stolen I guess).

This is almost what my car looks like...........
-
-
of course it does, Chevy. Do you need to clean your glasses? Haha.
YES! Got to sleep in my bed. Did last minute shopping, now sit the rest of the day. Sas, the strange divots are almost gone. Weird. Deborah didn't response, so I think she hadn't seen anything like this.
Have a nice day guys
-
Hate to make like a idiot, but .....what is a Christmas Adam? Mags said that, last page.....
Busy, busy....like everyone. I tried on 10-12 New Years Eve party dresses for my DD. She is working 14 hour day & wants a new dress for New Years. Where she lives, no shopping unless you are wealthy. Where we are, nothing special...JC Penneys, & the smallest Macy's in the Co. It was kinda fun, except hard on my shoulder. DD is 28, and going to a fancy party at a ski lodge. I was trying on stuff I obviously could not wear, TOO OLD, but we are the same size. Thanks to bc....
Off to have drinks with girl friends in awhile. Need to clean & pick up the house......arrrggg, never ends.
PattyP.. Wish you were feeling better...
Sas, has she posted in a few days? I remember the DS thing. Was thinking maybe she got banned again....NO, it's the holidays....
BBL

-
HiHo... ! No, you aren't an idiot... I was wondering the same thing, but knew she would say something sooner or later....I think Sass couldn't turn her computer on? I think that's all it is.... not sure, but that's the last she posted, probably from her phone? Man, I don't know...
I finally picked up my spare key, and it WORKED! Yay! Then to see Theresa & Eddie, our older friends, and then picked up a Pizza, and went to DD's house! That's all I have to report.... Ha!
-
Hi Golf Girl. Smarrty was right check to see if computer was plugged in. Welll what I didn't know or forgot was the screen had to be opened. DUH.....So I'm back . Thought I had another bad computer..Turns out a bad operator.
Smarrty, glad the divots are gone. The are scarring from the inside out., may leave a little scar thing that feels like a pea. Another hurtle kicked to the side.
Chevy, NICE car, can I have one too?
Patty & Blondie hope you are felling better.:)
2ta---------still not decided about wed night.
-
Since I can't remember what day it is, I wanted to make sure I posted this well in advance.
~ ~ ~
MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HANUKKAH, AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY SWEET OWLETTES!!!

-
Patty - Poopers I hoped you'd be feeling better by now. My biggest, softest ((((((HUGS))))) for you.
So Sassy has power to her computer again. I bet she is searching more glass as I right this.
I assumed (dangerous I know) that Mags wrote something and autocorrect made it Christmas Adam.
Rose - I have looked up the groups you listed on YouTube. I think DH would love Tallis Scholars. Somewhere we have several cassettes and records of Gregorian Chants (we are electronically challenged though we do have CD players). I should look next time I get somewhere to shop. Many times in that dead time in the afternoon I will put on a YouTube top tracks and let it play. DH loves Kevin Kern - piano music. I sometimes put on Ed Ames.
Smaarty - I am impressed. I can't even reach my toes anymore - fatness and shoulders won't cooperate. My BFF from nursing school is maybe coming to TX from Chicago in May. Oh I hope I can lose a few pounds between now and then. Probably haven't seen her in 20 years.
Well sounds like out mild winter may be ending. End of next week looks very cold maybe lower 30s and dicey for ice. Yes the toad is still in my mint plant on the backporch. I need to replant him somewhere but yesterday one of my lizards was out in the front it was that warm. Patty I think asked about the mint. Mostly this time of year I just hope to keep it alive. Usually stays outside but this year I brought it in. One of those round dish-type planters. I use it for tea mostly but have been known to grind up dead stems in garbage disposal.
-
Mags said Christmas Adam. Comes before Eve.
Suuuurrrrreeee CHEVY, we know you're really out burning up the streets in your new car. Does the heater work? Have you figured it out yet? I hear it's gonna get cold pin your area soon.
This was today's temp. Hard to feel in the spirit

-
Oh Spookie you are soooo clever. I would never have gotten Mags' joke in a million years.
-
I'm not smart! She posted it on warm & fuzzy!
-
Yep that's where I read the answer too! I would never have figured that out. Spookie... you are a brat! 80 degrees.. sweet. Happy Christmas Eve to you all that celebrate.
luvmygoats- I learned about the Tallis Scholars decades ago on NPR. Such beautiful music but I am weird and have loved early music since high school. DH and I have seen Chanticleer in concert many many times and LOVE their singing and arrangements. Biebl's Ave Maria we first heard in an old Spanish church. The lights were down and all the men had small candles. They sang Biebl's Ave Maria to candle light and it was so moving and gorgeous it nearly made me cry. My DH gave me John Rutter Christmas album last year and that's another one to check out- lovely.
Everyone have a pain free time off with their family!
-
I pray we all have fun and feel good for the holidays and the new year. I just got back from my neighbors christmas party. I am going to exercise and lose this extra weight and will feel better. This morning my right leg ached like the devil I must of slept and put pressure on the hip joint. By moving around I felt better. Better days are ahead I know. God bless all and merry Christmas.
