websister....a referral to an ortho surgeon......YA THINK!!!!!!!
momof.....I really don't think you made anything worse with your shoulder by postponing the surgery. The damage was likely done over time, and I think the healing you got from being in Oregon just made you stronger in many ways. Hang in there, things will get better.....here are some Alberta "fall" pics to cheer you up.
No bears this time.....but a great big moose crossing a river. Just a lovely day in for a hike.
dakota.....lovely to hear from you.....cockroach.....STILL???????
Hugs to all.

Great pictures !!! Yes still, apparently in his opionion I am too friendly with my DD and not enough of a mom. Coming from someone who has never taken his kids overnight. So yes please squash ! So aggravating... Other than that me and my crazy curly hair are great !!! Hug it out ! Muah !!!

dear Dakota.........STOMP!!!!!!!!

My DH is in the hospital tonight with pulmonary emboli. The doc thought it was acute bronchitis, but his lab tests came back abnormal. So we came home from voting/lunch to urgent messages to get to the hospital ER ASAP. We have no idea how this came about, but I l]know when it happened..last Thurs night…and I wanted him to go to the ER then, but you know men. We convinced ourselves that it was the flu. I am very thankful to have a "smart" PCP. Tomorrow he will be evaluated by my MO…could be a hematology problem or a form of cancer…but we are not going to think about that tonight, says Scarlet O'Hara.
Thank you nihahi for the beautiful pictures.
Dakota I hope your cockroach is not trying to pull "Parental Alienation Syndrome". My "friend" has wasted SO much $$$$$ fighting her cockroach and he has sent her into the mental hospital twice this year alone. Her situation is awful and I finally had to give up trying to help her fight. Lawyers and judges seem to be pro Dad…they get federal $$ to rule in favor of the father. SICK!!!
I have PT in the am and then will go see the DH. Hope tomorrow brings better news.
Jenifer
-
so sorry to hear about your DH, Jenifer! Glad your PCP picked it up and got him in, PE are nothing to fool around with. Thinking of both of you - you have been going through a lot lately
Nihahi - breathtaking pictures! Re: ortho surgeon - would prefer not to think - we'll see what the WCB doc thinks tomorrow
Dakota - hugs
-
jenifer......sending hugs, sending positive thoughts.....sending love.
-
Jenifer, healing thoughts for your husband. He should be ok now he is having treatment. PEs are scary, but the biggest problem is not knowing about them.
I had scattered PEs during my chemo, and lived to tell the tale!
Pocket party plz in about 5 hours from now. Having a chest wall MRI to rule out recurrence, and rather nervous!!! Never had an MRI before, and hoping once it comes back clear so can relax again and look forward to reconstruction Sx in the new year!
Hugs to all ..... xxx

Hi 😎,
Momof, everything crossed for your DH. Good that it was found.
Dakota, one sick cockroach you got there, soooo needs to be squashed.
Nihahi, your photos are amazing.
Web sister wishing you well at Doctors.
Morwenna, in those pockets, sure all will be well.
Having blood tests forB12 deficiency Friday. If that is the case it accounts for no energy.Would be lovely if it could be fixed.
Thinking of you all xx
-
Thanks to all for the well wishes. It seems that DH has a DVT under his right knee. This is the second episode of DVT, so he will be going on lifetime anti coagulants. I am so thankful that he made it to the hospital in time. My MO said that 1/3 of patients do not make it to the hospital or back home
Dang it, I questioned him about the pain last Thursday, but he discounted the pain and thought it was similar to the episode in 2012 . He did not want to worry me!Mo…in your pockets for the MRI. Hope they give you some good earplugs. Those machines are loud. Looking forward to an all clear and no worries for a long time.
Edi…ahh..to have more energy. maybe B12 will be the magic bullet ; )
love to all,
jenifer
-
momof2 - glad they found the source and that DH will be OK, saw a few of those 1/3 when I worked emergency

Morwenna - did you use the earplugs? How did the MRI go and when will you get results? Those pockets were a little wet from all that dragon boating but the singing made up for it

Edi - glad you are safe and sound after the storm there
I had my dr's visit and functional capacity assessment - the mock worksite they had in the physio area was nothing like the one I work in, kind of cute - the PT was very nice. The WCB physician expedited the MRI - I wasn't quite expecting it to be as fast as tomorrow morning at 0815 though! Maybe I will see some elite athletes there - it is a private MRI clinic here. Progress! Once the MRI is done I will hear back by early next week and they will either expedite surgery or do more physio - anyone taking bets?
Sad news here this a.m. with the shooting of the soldier that was guarding the tomb of the unknown soldier on Parliament Hill - the news following the running down of a soldier the other day in Montreal has everyone very upset and concerned
Take care everyone
-
websister......so happy to hear of the "quickie" MRI....how many months has it been? If it's not too late.....I'm placing my bet on surgery.....from your description of what is already known about your injury, I don't think more time/physio is the answer for the best long term result.
mo...I'm going to say "happy dance" for you....I just have a feeling your latest test will come back all clear too. No other option!!!!!
momof2....wow....good catch on your docs part for hubby. It's been a tough go for the two of you lately....now it's time to take some easier paths, eh!!!!
edi....hope that is the last of your storms for awhile, but....it is the season for them. Stay safe.
dakota.... again.....STOMP!!!!!!

Yay! DH is back home. Today is my 1 year cancerversary. It has been one roller coaster year. I am so very thankful to all my health care team, insurance, BCO, and family that have carried me through this year.
Mo…hope you can get your MRI results soon. I am keeping your agate in my pocket until you get the all clear.
Websister…oh, I do hope you get that MRI and a definitive treatment plan ASAP.
I am getting better with this one arm life. I have accomplished driving the car, unplugging an overflowing toilet, vacuuming, and replacing the dishwasher door gasket…the dishwasher flooded the kitchen and the toilet overflowed…all last night. My floors are cleaner for it, and I have learned to use towels and my legs to mop the floor. I also got my jeans buttoned without DH help. So I guess I am totally independent now..LOL
I do hope all that are reading and not posting are doing well. You know who you are and I am thinking of you and sending positive thoughts.
Love,
Jenifer
-
momof2.....you DO sound like you've got the hang of things....try not to overdo though! That is wonderful news that hubby is now home...Hopefully the last speed bump of the year for you all. That "anniversary" date is a significant milestone. Now it's time to start setting plans for many more adventures in the future....happier, exciting, wonderful adventures....no more el crappo ones!!!!!!
websister....any idea when you'll get the MRI results....
same for you mo....and idea?
love and hugs to all.
-
It has been a long time since I have posted and it is good to catch up on everyone's new!
Morwenna - look forward to hearing about your MRI especially since it is for the chest wall - my tumour was a mere 3 mm from the chest wall so not much of a margin there at all for me. Let us know the outcome.
Websister - so glad you got some movement on your MRI for your ankle - what is the plan in terms of treatment?
Momof2 - you have had so much to deal with - your shoulder, your husband's thrombosis - hope you are hanging in there. Do you have the stitches out yet? Lots of love and prayers coming your way.
Nihahi - love the pictures.
Edi - hope your B12 results help explain your fatigue.
I have been having computer issues, but hopefully I will get them sorted out real soon. Both daughters' weddings are all behind me now and it just seems like a dream in many ways. No photos yet to show. Still clambering out of the post-wedding mess.
Good news for me from my MO - I went to see her just a few days ago, and I have now graduated from 3 month appointments to 6 months - she said this is reason to celebrate - it is 2 years since my surgery - so it all sounds good, and I am relieved and grateful.
Look forward to reading the posts more regularly now. Take care everyone.

Hi 😎,
Just popped on before going out shopping with DH ,his wallet is weeping already 😭
Adagio, sooo lovely to hear from you. Lovely to have more time between check ups, me too now six monthly. Was talking to my volunteer team leader this morning, she is six year TN and her consultant told her that once second year anniversary reached we have the same chance as positive girls !! My consultant also told me same thing so big 😀 for the musketeers. We need wedding pictures when you can. 💒
We are doing a massive display for awareness month and feedback has been so good. More ladies asking for help and information. It is being held in our library and we have had press coverage, radio coverage and now TV want to come and see our work.!!
Picture below part of" our art your bra" ladies and even gentlemen are designing eye catching bras to make people stop and think. This is the stand as you come in the door. Another 70 pieces of art are displayed around the balcony above.Schools and even our local knitting group have joined in.They knitted BC buddies for us.
Must dash and spend some money 😉 laters.

our knitted buddies bra. We are keeping these as our mascots.
-
How cute! Thanks for pics Edi. :-)
Any results from tests yet?
I have my mammo tomorrow, have graduated back to annual ones but still stressful, you know.
So lovely to hear from all of you, I still check in most every day, but not a lot to say. Hard to believe it's been 2 years since we were going through chemo and all that stuff together!
Hugs to all.
-
Jennifer, glad u like pics 😀 went for blood test ,due to corded vein the daft sod couldn't get any out 😬 never have a problem anywhere else just this ham fisted person at my Doctors. Seems he needs a child's size needle and he didn't have one !! Have to try again at end of week. Thought he was trying to bore through to my elbow.😰
Good luck with mamo tomorrow. Annual for me too now.
Big hug from EDI xx
-
I had a phone call from my GP's office this morning to say that my MRI results were in and nothing suspicious was seen!
I haven't seen the report but I'm starting to accept that I'm just a lumpy person, and I should see if I can't stop obsessing over this and try to just enjoy life!!
I expect it gets easier over time!
You guys having mammograms, I hope you have similarly boring results!
Sitting here drinking wine, and eating a wonderful triple cream brie-type cheese from Quebec. Cheers!

-
Cheers! to you Mo… That is great news. We all need to go out and enjoy life
-
Wonderful news, re: MRI Morwenna! Glad you are celebrating - wine and cheese sound wonderful!
good to hear from you, Adagio and Jennie - in your pockets tomorrow, Jennie
Edi - so sorry to read about the blood draw not working - hope it goes better next time; eye-catching displays, the bosom buddies look very cute and cosy
Nihahi - I should be getting my MRI results any day now - they said give it two business days, nothing yet
Adagio - treatment plan depends on MRI results - either more physio or they would route me towards a surgical repair
I spent the weekend with some good friends from before I was married, good time - lots of visiting - just what I needed and I saved money as I wasn't too good for prolonged shopping with the walking boot on my ankle

Liefie - if you're u are reading - take care - hope the storm is short lived or turns out to be much milder than expected
-
Hi girls, I'm reading here, but not posting much anymore.
Morwenna, so happy your MRI is clear. Jenifer, hopefully things will turn around now for you and DH. You have had lots on your plate lately. Websister, hope you will get clarity soon as to what will br happening with your ankle. Edi, better luck next time, eh?
Dakota, I'm with Nihahi. STOMP, and move on.
Adagio, good to hear you graduated to fewer drs visit, and that you are recovering from the weddings. What a busy time you have had!
Jennie, best wishes for the mammo tomorrow. I'm due for one too - it's been almost a year. Time really flies.
Bracing for the remnants of Hurricane Ana which is supposed to hit here tonight. No wind yet, just rain. Hope the wind misses us!
-
Hi 😎,
Morwenna thrilled for you 😀. Wine and cheese yum.
Web sister, do hope your ankle sorted soon. Time with friends is priceless, best times 😁.
Liefie, do hope that wind stays away. A week ago today we were in the same position, weather not like it used to be 😱
Choir tonight, practising for Xmas concert !! Now that year has whizzed by. Won't it be lovely when years from now we can all look back and think, where did the years go since we all met up on here.?
Hope results for any tests are lovely and normal for everyone.
Onwards and upwards Warrior Sisters 😘

Hi to all
I've been quiet as going through a mini depression. Life just seems to have caught up with me and I've been feeling seriously sorry for myself. Tests, scans, results, more scans, needles. Ugh! Thought id finished with all this 4 years ago. Oh well.
Am awaiting results STILL from my MRI. Here in England seems to take much much longer than US. I have been badgering my BC nurse with emails and she tells me she will find out tomorrow during some kind of meeting, and let me know. Bout flipping time, too! Grrr.
Pelvic ultrasound on Thursday, to look at ovaries and uterus. Although I've already had a pre op for oophorectomy, I have no surgery date as yet. All seems a bit topsy-turvy to me. Again, oh well.
Hope you are all doing well. Sorry for my pity party. Hugs to everyone
xxxx
-
wambles - I think it's pretty normal for us all to be somewhat depressed at times, particularly if we dwell too much on our situations. Life is messy and sometimes we just have to plough through it and do the best we can. My suggestion would be to keep yourself as busy as possible so that your mind has less time to ponder. Big hugs to you!
-
Well I still haven't heard the MRI news officially from the hospital, but when I went for my test I requested that the result was to be sent to my GP as well as to the oncologist. I knew the hospital would probably be slow, ("does that mean nothing is wrong, or are they just trying to get an appointment time to break the bad news personally .... or maybe my scan is just waiting in a big pile to get reported on?????") ..... so I popped in to my GP last Friday and asked the receptionist to watch out for them and to call me when they were in, especially if it was good news as I was so anxious.
So it was she who called me yesterday to tell me everything was OK, bless her

-
Finally heard from WCB today re: my MRI - they left a message on my answering machine so I don't know what the radiologist report says. The message was that I am to wear the air cast for five more weeks and then be reassessed.
It just seems to keep going from bad to worse. I will ask for a copy of the report.
Morwenna/Nihahi - five more weeks will make almost eight weeks in the air cast - that doesn't seem right to me, any advice?
-
websister - 5 more weeks is a long time. Is the ankle feeling any less painful?
Edi - I got my 2nd cataract surgery today - decided to just get it done! It went well. 2014 has been such a crazy year for me - 2 bad falls, 2 daughters getting married, and 2 eye surgeries - I need a break!!! Did you ever go back for your blood test?
Hope everyone else is doing Ok - this thread is pretty quiet these days. Take care everyone.
-
Oh jeez, websister.....I can only imagine your frustration. Is there ANY WAY you can get a second opinion??? I'm not sure how WCB handles a request for that, but surely it is within your right to have it.
Avulsion injuries, like really severe sprains can take a long, long time to heal, and sometimes surgery isn't indicated. The issue, I think, is that even if you wear the air cast for a full 8 weeks, that wouldn't put you at 8 weeks post injury, but much longer than that! Given the span of time between your initial injury and starting with the air cast....there is a cause for concern (imho) that things may not be in proper alignment at this point. At the very least, you should be confident that what "needs to heal", is in the right alignment, spacing, etc. to make proper healing possible.
so.....I guess I would say...talk to the radiologist...try to find out if things are at least in the proper "position" to heal with minimal issues post healing.....and again....try to get someone else (ortho specialty related) to review your case.
momof2.....been thinking about you and wondering how things are going for you and hubby
Hugs to all.
-
websister, gosh that is a long time to be in a cast. Do hope you get answers very soon.
Adagio you are a brave lady !! Chickened out of second cataract but thinking about maybe doing it early next year. Had the blood test last Friday, he went to use wrong arm !! Finally did a Dracula on me by taking from by my wrist and it was pretty painless. Results end of this week.
It is quiet on here 😢 hopefully because everyone is moving forward and busy being " normal " I have my appetite back at long last but now eat maybe too much 😬 don't want to get too chubby as like being two sizes smaller.
Off to bed, tomorrow Guy Fawkes, bonfire night. Forecast is coldest night so far.Edi will be watching it on TV.Our firefighters are on strike so that should be pretty chaotic.
Everyone take care. X
