Here's what cheezed me off today

Sas, I think I want to carry you around in my handbag
-
wambles LOL. Not always that good. I think over time we all have a old bag of memories of what we wish we would have said to someone, that was just down right mean. I'm getting better with age at saying it at the time.
-
Oh, my goodness...wambles I love that comment that you want to carry sas around in your handbag!! It brought such a smile to my face thinking about how fun that would be to have a quick witted pal at our disposal whenever needed!
ndgrrl - so sorry you had to deal with those comments. In addition to wambles experience, it sounds like the the co-worker one I "cheezed off" about earlier. I agree with sas, though...don't let her run you out from that special place if you want to go back there.
mommyof2 and wambles - hope you both get feeling better. I hate it when you sleep wrong and it causes trouble.
-
ndgrrl, I think I would have said, "I'm rubber and you're glue, now BC can come get you!"
-
OHMYCDOG Rocky, I was thinking today after reading the posts here, WHAT IF We carried a sparkle bag and dust them with "fairy dust". With the words "It now comes to you".... Would be priceless to see the reaction. Well actually you couldn't put it on them. That's an assault and battery. But put in the air in front of them, would get the message across. -
My best friend was just told that a shoulder replacement would be necessary to give her back full motion. Someone she told about that said "Lots of people lose an arm and learn to use the other one for everything. It's not a big deal." I think she should say, "I would slap you right now for saying that if it wouldn't make my shoulder worse." Or use Linda's technique: stare at the person for a long time, then say, why did you say that?
-
Wren -
Hahaha!! Reminds me of the Genie of the Lamp.. One rub on the buckle, and poooooof!! Out floats Sas to set the Stupids straight
-
So a shoulder replacement = losing an arm these days? Gosh, who knew?
That voice of doom.... Off with her head!!
-
People say the stupidest things!!! What is wrong with saying,,,, "oh, I'm so sorry to hear that." -
Went to make sure I have everything I need to make dinner, to find out that I don't have enough potatos! So it looks like a trip to the store for potatos!

Hi everyone, Thank you thank you for all the laughs and suggestions on what to do with rude people. Seems I have ran into them from day one of being diagnosed. When I told my boss I was diagnosed with breast cancer and would be gone for awhile- she looked at me and basically said she didn't want me gone and that she thought they could give me a pill for it!! After I called in when I got so very sick from radiation and ended up in the hospital she told my other co-workers I was faking it and that radiation didn't make you sick. Not sure where she got her information since she has not ever had radiation. To top it off when I went to return from work they had eliminated my job saying I had been gone too long so they gave my duties away- but if I wanted a new job with extra duties, plus most of my old ones and only 3 hours a day they would give me that. UMMM NOOO..
I do wish I had a Genie that I could rub a magic latern that he would appear and throw that woman in Lake Superior and maybe the 45 degree water would freeze her mouth shut. As for my ex boss- for just one day I would have liked her to feel as rotten as I did after radiation so she would know that I was not" faking" it.
Janett, yes you and I do have nearly the same DX.. Can I ask you why they also checked 9 nodes in you? For me he said he couldn't find the sentinel blue node so he started to just take out everything and thank goodness he did finally find it. My scar is not the best under my arm and it hurt far far worse then the lumpectomy and wow did I bruise!!
I am on Tamoxifen and its been ok. I do take a low dose Effexor to keep away the night warm ups, and it does help. I am one year cancer free and happy happy happy
2 months after I was diagnosed my sister also was diagnosed, I had bugged her to get a mammogram. I also had a niece diagnosed 2 months before me at age 33 and a first cousin 4 months before her at age 45.
I was tested for BRACA 1 and 2 and also another genetic test because of a sister passing at age 44 with stomach cancer- but I have been testing negative so they do not know why all of a sudden we all got cancer at the same time.
Thanks again everyone , you all made me smile. I also wish I could have SAS in my pocket !!

Here's a story from a while back, but it bears repeating, I think.
What cheeses me off is medical professionals not bothering to read your chart, so you have to explain over and over .....
The particular instance was my RadOnc follow up Jan 2014, that was 3 months after finishing rads, following my mastectomy and 6 months of chemo.
Nurse: Ah, I see you are overdue for a mammogram....
Me: No I don't think so, I had one six months ago .... ?
Nurse: Ah yes you did, but that was just the right breast. You haven't had a mammogram to the left breast since October 2012!
Me: Ummm ... I haven't HAD a left breast since December 2012! (Duh!)
-
ndgrrl, to answer your question about my 9 lymph nodes, my BS explained it this way. During a mastectomy sometimes they take out more lymph nodes than planned because some of the nodes are scattered out in the breast tissue. They are not all just in a line under the arms. I had 5 on the left and 4 on the right that were removed "accidentally" along with breast tissue. They all tested negative.
Edited to add: as I reread my post, I realized my stats should say 0/10 lymph nodes because the left sentinel was removed during lumpectomy, then later 9 were removed during BMX. I will change my stats, not that it's a big deal. I like to be accurate though. :-)

Oh my goodness Morweena- that is terrible. After my hysterectomy they placed me on the maternity wing and at 38 I found hearing the lullaby playing each time a new baby was born and it only hit me harder that I no longer could have children. Later when I could eat a full menu again I called the café to order my dinner and asked for a Mountain Dew only to be told-- Are you a nursing mother? I really wish they had some way to tell the people in the nutrition dept, who are new moms and who are surgery patients as that did hit home harshly.
My hubby was in the waiting room allowing me to sleep and a new expectant dad was in the waiting room hurriedly knitting some lil blue booties. The father looked at my husband and said.. " My wife just had a baby boy, what did your wife have?" My hubby said a hysterectomy. Poor new father just sat there shocked.
I really wish in these small town hospitals they could place woman who have hysterectomy's in a different area than the maternity floor but it is what it is. Just glad I do not have to do it again.
-
ndgrrl, How cruel can they be? Surely they could have put you in with other surgery patients. I was put in a cancer ward because they were sure I had ovarian cancer before the operation. Thank goodness it wasn't.
-
nd,
that is just totally inhumane of them to have done that to you! I would have had someone's head for it!
-
Sad thing is me being put in the maternity ward after a hysterectomy is not a one time occurrence, they do that all the time here and its not just the hospital I was at. I want to visit a friend in the maternity ward at the end of August she had just had a hysterectomy as well, this was a different hospital than I was at. She said hearing the lullaby did not really bother her as she is nearly 50. I swear the hospitals here do not care about the patients mental well being at all. I found this true with my cancer treatment. I was treated but never asked if I would like to see a counselor even when my Oncologist could tell I was stressed to the max and in tears in his office. I was also never set up with a dietician even though I asked to see one. I was told they usually only deal with chemo patients. I never felt like they were treating the whole person only the cancer. For that reason I am considering switching to a different cancer center located 3 hours from me- the one I go to is nearly 2 hours. -
Yipes!
-
OK, Sparkle bag ready. Sprinkle in front of stupid person and say" Magic Fairy Dust....Make stupid things stop coming out of this mouth! KAZAM! " Then walk away!
-
sounds good to me!
-
I need some sparkle dustSounds like a great idea!
-
Sparkle Dust: 1 bag of glitter, 1 tsp. of sage,1 tbsp. salt, pinch of cornstarch. Happy Dusting!
-
Nothing's cheezing me off today. Husband is out of town for a week and I'm curled up on the couch ordering take-out and watching old movies on TCM and waiting for the Walking Dead episode 2! Have a great weekend, cheezers!
-
rohanna - Enjoy the takeout and the old movies! Nothing has cheezed me off today either...yippee!
-
Never buying treats for my cat at PetSmart again. The treats I picked up according to the tag that was attached to the shelving was supposed to be 50% off. Well we got to the check out to be told that we supposedly read the tag wrong and that in order for us to get the 50% off we had to buy two bags of treats! Why can't stores make their tags bigger in order to avoid their customers being treated like we are always in the wrong! Like to have smacked the cashier, the little smarmy smart aleck!
-
Well Cheezers, looks like I can't take Aromasin either. That makes the top 4 AI's on my NO list. Any suggestions? How are you doing with your AI and what do you take?
-
rohanna - that stinks - sorry to hear they are on your "No" list. I was the same stage as you are, but my onc does not have me on anything, so I don't have any good suggestions for you. I'm not quite sure why some onc's suggest meds for 1a and some don't...it kind of confuses me and makes me a bit nervous about not taking anything. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to not be taking anything, but...it just also makes me nervous!
-
No anti-hormonal or inhibitor drugs for me either rohanna. Also, maybe I'm just a bad ass, but I'm not nervous in the least. We did our surgery, our chemo and our rads... if all of that didn't get it then who the heck really knows what combo works best for each individual. I'll take stable mental and physical health over those drugs any day. I'm not knocking anyone else here, just being happy to move on with damage to my body fairly minimal.
