    Hi Lovely Ladies;

I have been under the weather for the last few days. My BP went sky high and I had to go to my PCP 3 days in a row in an effort to get it down. She essentially threw the kitchen sink at me my doubling my beta blocker, adding a diuretic, and tripling my anxiety meds. I did not think I was particularly anxious, but she said that arimidex is the culprit in this sudden unexplained episode. She wanted me to be able to pass my pre op for the shoulder surgery. So my BP finally came down, but the PA did not even take my BP during my pre op. So I am good to go Monday at 6 am. So as it turned out, I still spent my birthday and the following 2 days at some doctor's office. Oh well, I am here and feeling better…so I am thankful. What good are birthdays, anyway?

My DD plans to come "take care" of her mommy next weekend. That will be nice. I get to see the 2 grand pups too! Fortunately I have cleaned her bedroom up from all the wedding things! I am really not expecting too much down time from this surgery. After last year, this is minor surgery!

Calgary ladies, keep me posted on the activity of the Northern Lights. I would love to find a place to "camp out" in December and wait till the sky puts on a show.

Hope all are doing well… gotta a keep this thread running :)

so sorry for your diagnosis! I too was in shock and cried a lot, I was very healthy before my news which was stage 2 and all lymph nodes taken out. Well to my surprise I have tolerated my regimen so far which is 2 A/C treatments and I have had no nausea and am still running 5 k everyday. I have also had no hair loss due to using the cold caps. I have 2 more A/C and 4 taxol left. I believe that being healthy( I juice everyday) and keeping my hair has made this process a very smooth one so far.

Momof, will be with you in spirit. Hope all goes well 😀 definitely let DD spoil you too.

Nights drawing in here, cooler days and dark so early. 😑 Only good thing is that after two years of waking well before dawn I am at last sleeping longer. Bad thing is still need an afternoon nap !!

I keep trying to remember what life was like before BC 😢 if only we could turn back time.

Hope you all have a good week. Love and hugs xx

Sending positive vibes and hugs, momof2......for a successful, uneventful surgery tomorrow. As you know, it's pretty impossible to predict the aurora shows....There have been some strong storms already this season, but it's been cloudy in our area on those nights. I bet a wonderful place to catch them would be Jasper. They already have designated "dark sky" areas, and are far enough north to catch lots of light shows. How are you on staying up until the wee wee hours???? That's when it seems the strongest lights seem to show. Failing that....you could always go to Sweden, Iceland, etc.!!!!!!! (edited to add.....check out spaceweather.com it has great info and pics regarding the northern lights and other neat things up in the skies.)

Morwenna....how did you do in the race today? Hope it went well for you...certainly had perfect weather for it!

Edi....sending hugs and smiles to you...you've come a loooooong way kiddo!

Yesterday was a fabulous day for the Run for the Cure! About 8 thousand people registered for the Calgary event, and the weather was perfect. I read that we raised $1.28M in Calgary alone, so multiply that by all the other venues across Canada ...... !!!

They had the serious runners off to start with, then the rest of us lined up behind and it turned out to be more of an amble than a run, to he honest! :)

Some of the folks living along the route had decked out their homes, and it was a super fun morning!

momof2 - look after yourself - hope the pain is not too bad for you. A brace will certainly slow y down for sure - is it your dominant side?

Had a chat with the co-ordinator of BRA day this morning. After hearing me list off my "history", she is going to seat me at the "complications" table......... what!!!!!! Gosh, now I'm worried people will think I had complications with my flap recon....I'm going to have to do a LOT of explaining, evidently.

Some tough times for friends on this thread lately. Sending hugs and healing thoughts to all.

Momof2, take it slowly. It sucks to feel so helpless, but before you know it, it will be okay. Hope you don't have pain. Let DD do everything when she comes so you can just relax and heal, okay?

Edi, you take that nap, girl! I'm also sleeping longer hours than before. Some mornings I wake up, and DH is long gone. It's fine with me.

Morwenna, that race was amazing! That's a lot of money - wow! Listened to your choir on FB just now. No wonder you love performing with them so much - an utter joy and pleasure to watch.

Nihahi, you will be a worthy representative, complications or not. Can't think of a better person for this job than you, wise Nihahi!

Websister, Adagio, Jo6202, Jennie, Wambles, all the best to you girls. I still read here every day, but I am now much more of a lurker than a poster. At one stage this thread was like a lifeline to me, and I spent hours on here. I appreciate each and every person that I met here. You helped me so much, and gave me so much encouragement over such a long time, and I wish to thank all of you for that. Will be lurking . . .

Edi, thankyou for your pm. I will reply shortly, just had to post quickly as I'm feeling bad for ignoring.

    Hugs

    Well hello everyone!

I'm just posting to wish everybody a happy and healthy Canadian Thanksgiving, and I guess it is always good to find things to be thankful for, even when our worlds are going tits-up! (to coin a phrase) ... Ooops :p

Also showing off my new avatar. The wild rose is the provincial flower of Alberta, and I live in Alberta, and my name is Rose, so there you have it! :)

Beautiful, Rose!   I think many wildflowers are even more gorgeous than the garden varieties.  A sort of delicate beauty.  I used to do some nature photography, should try my hand at it again.

    hi ladies,

it is difficult to type with my left hand. i have to wear this immobilizer for 6 more weeks…cannot get a shower until the stitches come out 10/20.

of all the surgeries i have been through, this one has been the worst. i am not in pain, just incapable to do much. the anesthesia was a nightmare, which i have never experienced before. it was so horrific my dh does not like me to discuss it…so let's say i do not want to go under again unless it is absolutely necessary…no colonoscopy until they stop using propofol… i probably made my shoulder worse by the delay in surgery, but i would never give up my vacation in yachats even if it means i am living in a immobilizer till december.

before surgery my bp was out of control high…now, the reverse is happening with extremely low…i do not know what to think or do. my dh came home with chills and high fever yesterday, so i had to go into caretaker mode for the flu…amazing, he is much better this am.

wow, how is this for a downer…hoping to be able to do some pt in the near future.

nihahi…if you have any scenic pictures, send them to us…would love to see the fall colors

mo…love your new avatar…your flower looks much like our state flower, cherokee rose

adagio…how does the truly empty nest feel?

hope to be more cheery in the future.

    take care ((hugs))

Morwenna - very appropriate avatar, my middle name is Rosanne, in part because of our provincial flower

Momof2 - never worry about being a downer here, it sounds like you have had quite a rough time - not only with the shoulder but with the anaesthetic. Hope mobility of shoulder improved soon and pt works wonders and hope that your BP settles into a nice, boring normal. I don't think I had propofol for any of my colonoscopies, there are other meds that could be used. Mine was conscious sedation

Nihahi - re: ankle - love your description! - I am in a air cast walking boot now. It has helped with the stress fractures and cyst toe region - pain now more localized to areas of initial injury - medial and lateral ankle. The thought is that I tore the ligaments that make up the retinaculum and so the peroneal tendons are subluxated. I will see a WCB physician on Wednesday, my case manager feels that might speed up MRI, possibly referral to ortho surgeon. Long, long time but I've given up being frustrated and just do what I can

How was the BRA day, I was thinking you were possibly placed at the complications table because of the implant, not the DIEP (I know, I'm a little slow sometimes)

Edi - how is everything there? Sounds like Benny had a shopping spree in the tack store - it should be fun seeing what she comes up with for costumes for herself and Callie

Dakota,Adagio, Liefie, Wambles and everyone else - sending greetings

    Take care all

    Hi 😎,

Really autumnal here, nip in the air, leaves swirling down. Love this time of year 😀. DH took me out for dinner last night and for the first time in ages I ate everything !! Only order kids meal but it is another milestone.

Mom, do hope discomfort eases and soon. X

Web sister, you too, ankle sounds really awful. Can't wait to see Benny and Calli's costumes for Halloween 😱 that will be two years to the day of my first chemo. ! I then went to a party dressed as a spider. Only problem was I needed to drink gallons of water.Side effects hadn't hit yet.

Here on TV they are doing stand up to cancer and have raised millions over night. They show stories of people going through it and I actually feel lucky when I hear their stories.

Up in attic later today looking for winter clothes. DH goes out every morning and walks for up to two hours  😀 gives me a chance to do what I want.

Think of you ALL everyday love and ((( hugs))). Edi x

    Hi girls,

All good here.. Had my pre op for oophorectomy yesterday, very strange considering I don't have a date for the actual op yet.. Gotta love the NHS!!!

As Edi said, we had the "Stand Up 2 Cancer" Tv fundraiser last night (proceeds going to cancer research) .. Some seriously heart jurking moments, particularly the children fighting.. But also some lighthearted comedy.. Fantastic evening which raised over £15million.

    Keep smiling, ladies!!
