Greatful that the last time I saw my onco that she was able to tell that the rash i have been dealing with was another bout with Sweet's Syndrome. She put me on antibiotics that day and its going away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was driving me batty!
-
Grateful that I could see the dentist today & hopefully what she did will solve the problem!

Sweet's more like a bad skin rash. Wish it was caused by too many cookies. Found out that people who have certain types of cancer can get it. Been dealing with this for about a month while they had me on a steroid to kill it, which it didn't.
-
Doesn't sound sweet to me Mommy.
Ruth, sorry about your dental woes. I've been putting my visit off but I should make an appt.
Today I am grateful for an inexplicable great mood. Woke up happy and have remained so throughout Day 2 of month-end (by far the worst of the 4 days).
-
Greatful that I don't have to tear a strip off the doc's staff about the referrals I need for upcoming appointments. They finally called a bit ago to get the information for the referrals!

I have a hobby of collecting presidential trivia (yes, I am strange), a friend of mine teaches a couple sections of advanced English and her students have been doing research papers on the presidents & I am grateful that I got the chance to go in and visit with them this morning. It was really fun to be with such engaged, enthusiastic kids.
* my dental woes stem from a wisdom tooth extraction about 15 years ago......I had lots of problems with it at the time, including a dry socket (the worst pain in the world), and has led to bone loss in that area as I age. There was nothing I did wrong & nothing I can do right about it either, just patchwork. Very frustrating! GRRRR....but, I guess I better be grateful that they CAN do patchwork!
-
10/2- grateful to be reminded after an experience today that sometimes in life, it is the vocal minority that FEELS like the majority. I need to remember that when dealing with future situations with highly difficult people.
Ruthbru- I too have bone loss too due to a problem tooth.
And since Jimmy Carter just turned 90, do you have any trivia about him you can share?
-
Happily (remember, kids like the kind of off-beat information):
* When he was a boy, Jimmy Carter shot his sister, Gloria, in the rear end with a BB gun after she threw a wrench at him!
* His high school wouldn't let him be class Valedictorian because he had played hooky and went to a movie (he was a little more naughty than the image we have of him now would indicate...which I think is cool).
* Rosalynn was a good friend of his sister, Ruth. Ruth had a picture of Jimmy in his Annapolis uniform on her bedroom wall & when Rosalynn saw it, she immediately developed a crush on him! After their first date, he told his mom that she was the girl he wanted to marry. They wed the next year when he was 21 and she was just 18. It seems to have worked out....
-
Ruthbru- thanks for those interesting factoids on former President Carter. I agree, it did work out!
-
Onco I have had shingles and I know how painful they are and my doctor told me that once you've had the shingle the vaccine is useless, the horse is out if the barn so to speak. Ruth you'd be a great partner in Trivial Pursuit.
Today I am grateful that I was able to have my car repair work completed in one day.
-
My hubby just informed me that the day I have to go for my cervical cancer screening, he'll take me because he doesn't have to work that day. So I have to cancel my ride with the ladies from my neighborhood that take me to my appointments!
-
Cheryl, I would be a great partner IF I could hand-pick the topics (I know nothing in quite a few areas!!). And I'd re-check about the shingles shot, my sister had a terrible case of them & her doctor still wants her to get the shot because the virus is always in you & you can get shingles again (that is how it was explained to her anyway).
I am posting in advance because in a few hours we take off to attend the wedding of a kid (okay he is 25 years old) whom we have been friends with since he & DS went to the same babysitter when they were 3. Super guy, super family....almost like relatives to us. It should be a really fun time & I am grateful for the gift of dear friends & grateful to be around to help celebrate the milestone days.
-
Grateful for the weekend trip to visit beautiful and historic eastern North Carolina with my DH and best friend, Suzanne. Weather is especially wonderful today and will continue for the weekend.
Now having my third bout with shingles. My primary doc advised getting the vaccine which will offer 70% protection for the future.
-
10/3- grateful to have completed my first month of personal training and receiving good news on my progress today. Lost 3 inches around my waist in four weeks, and also decreased my internal body fat around my organs by 2%. We continue on for another month, may sign up for longer too. It is working!
-
Greatful that I had a relaxing day!

I am grateful for all the people encouraging me, supporting me and praying for me. Most of all grateful for my husband.
-
10/4- grateful for balloon fiesta which began this morning. Always lots of fun in town during this time of the year (but terrible traffic!)
-
I read every this chain every day - but haven't posted for a bit.
I am grateful for all here, who remind me I have much to be grateful for.
OK maybe not the foot surgery coming up at the end of the month, but grateful that I have a great doc, who I trust and has a wonderful bedside manner. Bone spur attached to my tendon. They go in cut the tendon, remove the spur and reattach the tendon. Sounds worse than it is - hopefully home with just a walking boot!
Be well
Nel
-
Youch, but a bone spur doesn't sound like very much fun either; so if they can get rid of it, that will be a step in the right direction (pun intended
).
Grateful for the really, really fun time we had at the wedding yesterday. It had such nice 'homey' touches (as opposed to the 'over the top ' feeling many weddings have nowdays).
-
Greatful for every day that I wake up a survivor!
-
Yes Ruth - bone spur be gone! Hate the fact that excercising and walking are a bit uncomfortable right now. If I am surviving cancer, I need to be able to get out and live my life fully!
Grateful for an enjoyable evening with friends last night. Invited a friend and her husband for dinner. I don't do this nearly often enough. And it really doesn't make a difference to anyone about how pulled together my condo is. Been here almost a year and getting it to look like mine bit by bit.
-
10/5- grateful for all the people who support me along the way, here on BCO, on this thread, and in life in general. This item I found on FB today, which reminded me that it is good to be grateful for your support system!

Greatful for everyone here who has become like family to me and helps me get through a difficult day with laughter
-
Grateful that a friend's mom is back home and doing better after a scary stint in the hospital.
-
Welcome Okkim, glad you have a great support system.
Grateful yesterday to enjoy the day with my granddaughter who spent the weekend. But it is very busy having an 11 year old around the house.
Grateful today that I managed to put together another granddaughter's favourite dinner, spaghetti, for the whole family (well only 17 of us but still, it was a good turnout for a 6 year old's birthday party). I flubbed more than I would have like, forgot more than I remembered cooked not quite enough food but I think everyone was happy with the afternoon. Also won grandma of the year award for presenting her with a 'Frozen' toddler version of Elsa. My DIL wouldn't let her open the box till they got home, so she hugged the box to her chest while trying to give everyone thank you kisses and hugs. The box was almost as big as she is so it made for a funny bunch of thanks!
-
Grateful that after my car broke down I had AAA and got to ride to work in a tow truck.
Grateful my mechanic was able to rectify the problem
Grateful that I got a call from a friend asking me to mind her dogs for two weeks so car repair paid for without me having to resort to dipping in to savings
And finally grateful that I received two tickets to the San Diego Chargers football game for today and I was able to share with a friend who is a football fanatic even though they are not her team we had a really fun day together.
Red I have a friend who is a party 'Princess' she said this year 95% of her parties she is Elsa.
