Big time fan !! Got Seasons 1-3 from my folks last Christmas
-
MrsDarcy, I'm envious! I still haven't seen Season 1, but have seen every other episode at least twice.
I can't understand why they only produce a small amount for each "season" (which doesn't last very long). Am looking forward to the next season, too bad it doesn't start until 2015, would be easy to lose interest.
-
I thought I was so smart... I got the big DVD set of the first three seasons to watch in the bedroom while recuperating.
However, in my zeal, I got the Blue-Ray edition, and my bedroom TV only has regular DVD.
So to date, I have never, ever, seen one single episode!!!! I did, though, buy the book that explains all the characters.
(At least we have Blue-Ray in the living room .... I just keep forgetting to watch it.)
-
Oh Blessings, I would say that's awful, but I think you need to move the living room to watch it. Warning: very addictive!
-
I stopped watching after something happened that I didn't like. I won't give it away.
I've thought about starting again, but haven't yet.
-
Oh no, SlowDeep Breaths, don't give up on it!! Just PM me and tell me what happened that turned you off and I will let you know the outcome.
I loved the season finale this past year!!
-
SlowDeepBreaths - my father did the same .. and I am pretty sure I know what turned you "off" - but it's an amazing show - you should really contemplate starting again.
Netflix has it as well - for those who may be interested -
Amazon Prime has it too!
-
Huge fan. I, also, like "Mr. Selfridge", as well.
-
2nd_time_around, British television series typically have much shorter seasons than American series because they're usually written by one or two writers. American shows are usually written by a large staff of writers and thus can produce more shows each year.
-
MrsDarcy, Yes, I think I will start again.
I love Maggie Smith's character. I so enjoy cranky women with a heart of gold.
Thanks for starting this 2TA!
-
DA Fans!!! I found you!
I am a huge fan, so is my daughter and my daughter-in-law. Right after my BC diagnosis, my grandson was baptized in Chicago. We all descended on Chicago for the blessed event and my daughter and her family shared a big suite of rooms with us.....2 bedrooms that emptied out into a shared family room. So the DA premiere was happening one of the nights we were at the hotel and we made it known that the TV was OURS!!!! When the time came, we discovered that the PBS channel on our room TV didn't carry DA. WHAT! My daughter and I went down to the sports bar, hijacked a table, ordered up DA on the booth TV, ordered drinks and appetizers and had a wonderful time. I discovered on my way to the hotel elevator that in my haste to get down to the sports bar, I failed to change out of my pajama top! We still laugh about that night.
Love, MsP

DA fan here - I wasted an entire day watching all of Season 1, once.
-
I so don't consider that a waste of a day! Lol!! I think it is a day well spent!!
-
AmyQ - no such thing as "wasting a day" when it comes to watching DA !!! I do know if I watch it before bed, I dream about it - or I think about it - LOL !!!!
-
Downton Abbey is unfortunately not available on Netflix. It was available a few years ago, but about a year and a half ago it was taken off.
-
I am in Canada - it's still available here on Netflix.
-
Hi SlowDeepBreaths! Good to see you here! Curious too, but will PM you. Sorry it turned you off.
Welcome Andrea, Jenwith4kids, Selena, shycat, Ms Pharoah, AmyQ, and Janett!
Thanks for the explanation, shycat, that puts a different perspective on things. Not liking the long gaps between seasons though.
Selena, I'm hooked on Mr. Selfridge too. Not sure when that starts back up.
SDB, I love that the writers gave Maggie Smith's character the best lines!
Ms Pharoah, now that's a dedicated fan! Funny story!
AmyQ and Mrs Darcy, lucky you!
I wonder if they'll ever have season 1 reruns? Probably not, as I guess they want us to purchase it!
-
I would think some libraries have the DVDs. I don't know if "video" stores still exist...I miss Blockbuster!
-
I got hooked after watching the first season after my bmx. Also hooked DH and DGS too. Haha! Watched the other seasons after each sx. I have another English set that my SIL gave me but still haven't started it yet. 7 seasons of Monarch of the Glen. Anybody seen those?
-
no, have never heard of those. Have you had the chance to see them yet?
-
no, still sitting in the box.
-
good thing your life is too busy for such things!
-
it will probably wait until the next sx. I also bought the whole set from stargate, Atlantis. That will take me months!
-
Smaarty, that should be fun!
