THE WAY WE WERE......LOOKING BACK IS FUN

And you were glad to have one.......
-
Onco, Queen of the Pantry......hahahahahaha - that's funny!!
Alyson,
is that your wedding picture??? "Not sure who those people are" - you
were kidding, right? I can be a bit dense at times.Ducky, I don't remember those books but I do remember the radio!! I think it was a bit different in the 70's though, but I do remember buttons.
Edited to add: we had a set of those green lawn chairs!! Also had the plastic ones in a lounge chair version. It used to leave funny marks on me when I used it to tan. I was a tanning Goddesses - probably caused my BC....lol
-
Slow - Guilty of tanning here - iodine and baby oil, anyone?
-
Hawaiian Tropic is probably still the most aphrodisiac scent in the world to me. That and Ban de Soleil gelee...
-
Yes!!
Although, I think thet may have worked in my favor during radiation.
I didn't have any skin issues - my RO was so surprised. Just got a little tan.
-
We spent at least two hours a day at the pool, plus when a little older out on boats on the lake, swilling beer & waterskiing.
-
Crazy huh? But, who knew???
I even had one of those tan reflectors so you can aim the sun. LOL
-
Yes that's my wedding photo, very typical early 70s well for here.
We spent our childhoods at the beach and in the sun as a result have had several 'nasty things' removed. Oh well, that's the way it was.
-
I had these things.......no idea where they are now............
-
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums pointy? Girdles? Yup, the 1960's were all about lycra
-
Alyson, you're a beautiful bride! Love the dress.
Ducky, I remember the dresser sets.
Anyone remember these?? I loved using the key to open cans when I was a kid!!
-
The lawn chairs on the previous page. I actually bought a set new this year for camping. Those canvas sling ones hit my legs in the wrong places and take forever to dry out.
SlowDeepBreaths - that can opener is still the only way to open some imported beers. Just sayin'.
Do they even make sardine cans with a key anymore?
-
Remember them all.........LOL........
-
LMG, no wonder I haven't seen those things lately.
I don't drink beer and I loathe canned sardines!!
-
Now you know someone you knew had one of these thingss......
-
We had lights like that Ducky!
Although the globes were different.
-
I was too old for this, but my kids and grandkids had these things.LOL
-
Yes....I remember those.
Not sure if we talked about these yet. I can't keep track. lol

When we were kids we wrote silly stuff. You will marry so and so.... You will have 12 kids....We didn't really ask questions.
We called it a cootie catcher but I'm not sure if that's what it's really called. We put numbers on the tabs to determine how many times you would work it and colors to pick once it stopped. I've made them for the little ones in our family. Sure brings back memories.
-
LOL...remember when the "Safties" thought they were "all that".....tell you in the school yard or the halls.........Stop Running.....LOL

-
I think that's way before my time Ducky.
-
Slow....The Safties in school wore those.....they monitored the halls........the AAA was a safety badge.........
-
Ducky and Slow--My memory of those belts and badges were for the kids who worked as crossing guards before and after school (hence the AAA logo). They were probably 6th graders and I was so jealous. Can you imagine letting kids do that now?!!!!!!!
This is a fun site to lurk. Thanks to all who participate. Jan
-
Well now I feel left out. I don't remember any of that stuff. Must have been my Catholic school upbringing. We never had cool stuff like that. We just had nuns yelling at us and parents as crossing guards.
Jan, glad to see you sharing some of your own memories. It's so fun to look back.
-
Glad everyone is enjoying this thread......it is fun to go back in time........no matter how far.....
-
Does anyone remember these desks.....the old "ink well"......and the top either lift up, or you slide your stuff underneath.....
