INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Strange day today.
A month or so ago, a family member was dx'd with DCIS. She's married and has two young children. Today she had her surgery, and DH and I waited in the Surgical Waiting Room with her mom and her husband.
It was a long surgery - a NS/UMX, plus a lift and augmentation on the non-cancer side. There were a few complications (restricted blood flow to the nipple), but otherwise she did well.
When the BS and the PS left after giving the family the news, both her mom and her hubby were in tears of relief. I know they were worried about the complications, but I had the BS explain to them that they were not uncommon in her type of surgery.
I realized that I never asked DH what HIS emotions were when he was waiting for me during my BMX/recon.
So tonight we talked about it. He said that he was really o.k. for several reasons: 1) we have a strong faith, and prayers had been going up all over the country for me; 2) he had been with me for all my appointments and knew what was going on in the OR; 3) we had done so much planning for my return home, he was just ready for me to be there; and 4) he was surrounded by so many of our family and friends in the waiting room that time (5 hours) just flew by. He said when the surgeons came in to give him the results, he just felt a sense of relief.
Then I realized that my three year anniversary of my dx is coming up in less than 3 weeks. It's funny, I have never "celebrated" those dates (dx, BMX, Exchange), even though they are burned into my brain.
I just forget, and the days fly by. I can't see the point of making a big deal out of them. But today when my SIL asked me when my surgery was, and I said three years in December, she said "Has it really been that long? It seems like it was yesterday." Well, not to me....it all seems like a very long time ago.
Anyway, it was a day for reflection.... not something I do very often.

Morning everyone!
We've just been so busy with DD from Orlando! I was surprised how much I had missed seeing that kid.... I ran out of the house, and we just held onto each other.... She cied, and so did I... Like holding my little girl again.... Then the fun started...
So much to catch up on... so many things to laugh about... Then our other one came by with dinner, and I'll tell you, they are the most raucous bunch of people in this neighborhood...Ha! I could hardly get a word in edgewise....
DH rather enjoyed being the manly man that he is, with us 3 women! Anyway it was great!
Then she and her Dad went up to her room, and they were going through all his collections of fun things he has accumulated, and all I heard was more laughing! So I had to go up and join in the fun! She is taking home a lot of 'Dad's" stuff for the boys... HE is having as much fun with her as I am!
Now today we are going up in the mountains.... all 4 of us, and going to Echo Lake Lodge for Brunch.... It is on the road on the way up to Mt. Evans.... they had snow up there night before last!
Okay..... Enerva.... sure hope you are feeling better! The gals have mentioned you eating crackers.... did it help? And just drink sips of water, or even coke? I think it's anything carbonated.... Just don't go drinkin' whiskey, or stuff like that.... Hope you look all perfect now!
Hi JWow, Blessings & Smarty & 222222222222..... and 333333333333! We can keep this thread going, right?
Sailing, Dutchess & Wren! You too! Another cool day here.... Man I love this weather!

SNOW?????
It's gonna be 94 here today. Prolly 100 inland. Isn't there a happy median somewhere ?

Hi everyone! Here I am again, just shipping in to drop off a little sunshine and happiness. Oh wait, that's Chevy's job.
I finished my second round of carboplatin/gemzar yesterday. It takes much less time in the chemo chair than any of my previous ones.
I talked to sassy and she Amex me to let you know that she's taking a break for a bit. I think Robin Williams death hit her pretty hard.
Hope you all have a great day!

Hey Girls!
Enerva, glad you are so happy with your result already!! Hope the queasy tummy has stopped.
Smaarty! I go in at 5 ayem tomorrow! I know you remember I lost the implant on the rad side. Then we did a round of fat transfer at it has softened the area so much my PS has agreed to put a TE back in tomorrow when he does another round of fat grafting. We will leave it pretty empty until things heal up and this round of fat can start to work its magic and then we will start expanding. This way it saves me a trip under for TE placement. He is also doing fat grafting into my ALND scar to try to help the lymph flow. I have been researching and met with a doctor about a node transplant. That is very involved and my LE really isn't that bad. She did say though that releasing that scar tissue can have a really positive effect. So I asked my doc to do it while he is in there poking around and he said yes. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE my PS!! My left fin is getting a lift too.
Hope all you girls are well. I don't get on much with school and all going on. Hope everyone is feeling better than yesterday and tomorrow is better than today!!
I'm not as cute as Enerva, so prolly won't post a pic from the hospital!! I will let you all know when I am home. I am guessing between 12-2. Start at 7:30ish and he said around 3 hours to do everything.
HugZ, Love and PrayerZ!!

4sew, I remember all your research on the fat grafting. So happy for you that all is going forward. Be sure to take it easy, especially with all those kids. Hope they help out a lot. Be in your pocket tomorrow.
Enerva, I'm aware about the anatomical discussion and that it's suppose to be precise pocket work. So next time I see him we'll discuss it more. Whippetmom has told me no more textured implants, so we will see. This is my last attempt to get it right. I'm getting to old for this crap.
Chevy, so happy for you and your DD. I think I know the feeling. I have older son who I'll see on Saturday. He's only 80 miles away in SF but I only see him 2-3 a year. But he moving to Australia in January to live there with girlfriend so it feels like I'll never see him again. This must be how people felt in the olden days when their kids left and went across the country! I know he's planning on coming back to SF at least 3-4 times a year because of his work but it just feels so far away!! It's bothering me more than I realized. We will skype a lot.
Phyliiinhouston, hope this works for you, and not feeling too sick with this chemo. Keeping fingers crossed. Tell Sass were all thinking of her and hope she can feel better and come to educate us all. Miss her.
Everybody else, take care.

Phyllo
Good to hear good things!! Pop in often!
-
HaHa Smaarty!! 3/4 are boys so not a lot of help there! They are low maintenance though! And DH is fabulous! Hoping you can move forward soon too. Sounds like you are headed in right direction! I am having some of that pocket work done tomorrow so I will let you know how well the face lift works on my left fin!!
-
So happy Enerva that your surgery went well and it's now over with. I hope you rest a lot and the pain lessens.
Good luck 4444 on your surgery tomorrow.
-
Oh my battry is still screwy, have to get paid first.
EnervaOMG u look great, u face is beautiful while u'r still laying there, I would never have my pic taken. Now I can't read everything, but I will as soon as I can I miss u gals- Enerva heal well.

Here ladies another cute picture

-
Enerva so happy that you are doing good, how strong are you? Hang in there and use the pain pills when you need themJackie....I don't celebrate any of the versarys, never did....still don't now, didn't realize I had to pay attention until the recurrence...
Chevy so happy for you and your family....enjoy the time with your family we are here, not going anywhere, can't wait to hear from you after they leave...
-
All 4 of us went up to Echo Lake today, and had the BEST lunch with Sweet Potato waffle- fries.... THEN down to Idaho Springs and walked around, and had to have a home-made ice-cream cone... just because.
Stopped in Golden, and I stayed in Starbucks while the rest of them walked around town there.... They have really fixed it up since I worked at Coors.... It was pouring down rain at the time, but looks like the sun is going to come out now!
DD is staying with her Sister tonight, and God only knows what those 2 will do..... Ha! She's coming over in the morning, and we will figure out more ways to walk and shop....
Then she goes to a concert tomorrow, and Saturday we are going to the Denver Botanic Gardens to see the Chiluly exhibit.... I THINK that's how it is spelled! Sunday she goes back home.... I just hated to let her go awhile ago.... I wanted to keep her here.... She said she will come back every few months now....
Talk to you tomorrow!
-
oh Chevy I am happy you spent time with your dd.
If I ever visit my friend in Denver I will love to meet you in person lol
I posted my pictures in the picture forum so hope it helps others. I am never in that site but I know ladies go there to find similar results.
I am in a great deal of pain but I cut down the perkoset to one pill every 6 hours now lol hate those but it's the only one that really takes my pain away. I cleaned my insicions today and all looks good so far
I am hopping I don't for the kiloide scars this time. ;( -
blondie thanks I missed Ur post, hope you are ok
I am here again almost 1 am but I had a nap in the afternoon so that's one of the reasons.
I wonder how is Nikie. Haven't seen any post from her in such a long time. Also Sandra.
Even Tessa, so many are now away
3 Rd and 2nd hope you are still here.
Smarty I agree with you, no texture implants for me either. But I think rounds are better than anatomical lol just cuz of the upper pole rippling.
Good night all
-

good morning ladies.
444 - praying for a quick recovery for you. Hope you get the results you are looking for
Enerva - you sound so happy with your results. Yea ! Doing a happy dance for you right now. Hope you are pain free soon. Yes I also love you can come here anytime and almost always find someone to talk to.
Chevy - wow you guys are busy. I would say I hope that I can get around like that at your hmmm.. Age, but the truth is I wish I could get around like you at my current age of 42. Glad your dd visit is going so well and also glad both dd's are spending some alone time tonight. Good for sisters. And you got a promise for visits more often. It's like you hit the jackpot. Sweet!
Blondie - good to "see" ya!
I just found out today that my lil sis and her family are coming down from Illinois next weekend. Probably spend 4 days. So excited. Haven't seen them since July 2013. Over 1 year. Best part is I am not going to clean and cook like crazy before they get here, which I normally want everything perfect. I am just gonna relax. When she gets here she is will just takeover everything that needs done. Sisters are sweet (sometimes)
Hi to all I missed. Hope you are having a great day !
Hootie hoo
-
enerva, how you doing today? Hopefully it's getting easier. You sound like you didn't get so sick this time.
4sew, hopefully you're home by now. Be sure to take it easy.
I'm back to doing research on the gummy bears. Back to driving myself crazy. Won't see new ps again until January, so have to find out why the gummy bears and not smooth rounds. Wish there was some way to shut my brain down! Grrrrre!
-

Hi, needed a break, the whole thyroid issue, Robin Williams, and Bluebird ----things just got to me . I took a brain break. I must of played hundreds of solitaire games. But now have started to swim again. YAY. AND my PCP as of today is running the show on the thyroid. She ordered all the tests the "Stop The Thyroid Madness" ( STTM) web site and book recommended. Also, started me on NP thyroid(Armour)--Porcine.
The craziness on this is, I used the web sites doc locator. The closest doc was 50 plus miles away. I took a chance and talked to her this morning -----she was right on board-----ANOTHER YAY> heavy weight lifted b/c my insurance would have never covered the other guy and the labs.
I Hurt BOTH shoulders last fall.... FALLING. I call them dog falls. i.e falling directly over the dogs...... or falling on or in something from the dogs. One fall was a small hole in the ground outside that grass had covered. That was really stupid b/c I bought top soil to fill the hole That took out one shoulder. Shortly after that, we had some rain bands come. They are different than regular storms. They just happen without warning. Both dogs ran through the door drenched. Wet floor. I turned and both feet went out from under me. That took out the other shoulder. Very limited range of motion in both arms for months. BUT now I'm back in full swing. Literally b/c I have to do the backstroke b/c of a bum neck.
Things are looking up YAY YAY YAY. But still missing Bluebird and Robin. They are sorely missed. God bless them both.
Many here have thyroid issues too. My conclusion after these past 2 years is orthodox docs have no clue how the body functions in relationship to thyroid. Highly suggest looking at the web site and getting the book. My cost on AMAZON was about 24.00$. BTW when I said that to my PCP about docs not having a clue...her response was "I agree" I hugged her.
Please, review the history on thyroid care on STTM. Puts a whole different historical perspective on what we have gone through. Has oodles to do with auto- immune diseases, cancer, pain, musculoskeletal problems. My Endocrin doc and I have parted ways--permanently.
Going to catch up on reading------WHAT'S UP-----THERE'S ONLY FIVE PAGES i'VE MISSED! Are you guys sick or something? L&H&P's sassy
