Jaytee, very happy to hear your feeling ok, spending time with family definitely has healing powers! Keeping busy helps too, just don't over do! Our 4th plans were changed to today as we had hurricane Arthur skirt past the island, lots of rain & some wind.....very relieved it was out in the ocean!!
-
Hi Ladies,
Sorry it has been a while. Things are going okay here in the mountains. It's cool and beautiful here. My sister and her husband are visiting, so I have been really busy. Our weather has been so wonderful.
Jaytee, so glad you are doing well. Tenaj, happy that the hurricane is over and that you are okay. We used to live near the NC coast, and am so glad to be in the mountains. Our home insurance certainly is lower.
Three more weeks before we cruise to Alaska. I can hardly wait. I look forward to exercising on the ship and eating some yummy food and taking in the beautiful sights. My DH and I both need this vacation. It's been a very long time since we went anywhere alone together. 35 years of marriage seemed like a good enough reason too.
I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and any visiting friends or relatives. I have to get out for a walk. It's too nice to stay inside.
-
Janet, glad that you weren't affected by the hurricane.
Jaytee, great that you are doing well....time with family is special.
Kathy, enjoy the time with your grand daughter....they grow up so fast!
Rocket, post some photos from your trip....I'd love to do an Alaskan cruise....and congratulations on 35 years with DH!
-
Rocket! Happy Anniversary, enjoy your Alaskan cruise! It is a wonderful trip!! Hi, Tammy, hope you are doing great! Jaytee, so glad you are feeling better! You always inspire me!! Tenaj, thank goodness you were not affected by the hurricane!! Glad that you are safe and sound!!!
We went hiking yesterday with the family! It was fun and the weather was beautiful!! Happy Sunday, everyone!!!
-
Hi Everyone, happy Sunday & hope you are all well & enjoying!!
Rocket, Happy Anniversary! Enjoy your cruise, very cool....that is something I would love to do. Can't wait to hear about it.
Kathy, sound wonderful hiking in the beautiful weather... Your family is growing so quickly. Enjoy every moment. It has been a bit difficult for me to not have my family around. I never thought it would be like this....but I must adjust & adapt. We will travel to see my son & d-i-l next weekend, they bought a new home & can't wait to see them!! I'm not sure when I see my daughter, it is too long in between visits... It has been difficult to travel as we have a dog sitting problem. He can really only stay with my daughter's best friend, who is like family. So between her schedule, my schedule with 1 weekend a month & everyone else schedule.....weeks go by before we can plan on traveling....Our pup, (who is like a child to us) has just turned 8 (he's a big boy...lol) was just diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia, so that has added to our difficulties in leaving him.....
Hi Tammy, how are things with you?? Hope you are enjoying your summer.
Hi Jaytee, I hope you are feeling well & tolerating the treatments...send hugs your way!!! (((hugs)))
I have been eating much better & exercising more. I logged 23+ miles on my bike this week!! Now I have to keep up the momentum,
-
hi, Tenaj!! Wow, 23 miles on your bike, that is awesome! You inspire me!! It is wonderful to be near our children and grandchildren, but we sure miss Indiana and Pittsburgh! If it wasn't for the kids, we would never choose to live in CA! It will all work out for you, there is lots of time! Enjoy your visit with your son, and hopefully you will see your daughter soon! Truly, enjoy your quiet time now, because once the beautiful grandchildren come, you will be busy!! A Good Busy!! Hugs and Blessings to Everyone!!!!
-
Hello....is there anyone out there????
I need help! I've put on a few pounds because I've been eating way toooo much...
I'm back to running about 3 miles and I've joined a breast cancer survivor's dragon boat group. They are a lovely group of women and I'm enjoying being out on the water. A team a going to Saratosa in October which should be fun.
I hope everyone is well!
-
Hi, Tammy!! Don't Worry, you will lose that few pounds in no time!! Wow, good for you with the running!! I am sorry to ask, but what is a dragon boat group? I am sure that you will love the friendship and the activity! Hubby and I were in Palm Desert and Big Bear this week, I too have been gaining weight!! Let's work on this together!! We can do it!!! Exercise and good nutrition!! I will be checking in more often!! Hugs!!!
-
Dragon Boat
A big following for breast cancer survivors....good exercise paddling....there is a big meeting in Sarasota in October but a little early for me....I've only been in a boat twice!
-
wow, Tammy!! How awesome!! You go girl!!!
-
Thanks Kathy!
How are you going with diet and exercise?
(((Hugs)))
-
Hi, Tammy!! Since watching my Grandaughter, I have lost 4 lbs!! We take a walk every day with her in the stroller! We walk the hills here too!!! I am back on the low carb and Weight Watchers regimen!!! Thanks for asking!! I have got to keep going!! Enjoy your day!!!
-
Good work!
-
Good job girls! Congrats on the weight loss Kathy & Tammy your energy level & support in these groups is commendable! That sounds like a great group to be involved with. Is that a local thing or national ? I haven't heard about that. Where I live there are walks & fundraising events....
Hope everyone is enjoying there summer!
(((hugs)))
-
Janet, hello!!
The meeting in Sarasota apparently attracts people from around the world! It is held every 4 years and was in Canada last time. I'm definitely just a local girl :-)
-
Tammy, looks fun, wish I could join you!!!
-
me too! Looks like fun.
I've been at the beach since Saturday. It's my first true vacation since my diagnosis 3+ years ago. I have been using my time for surgeries & wedding preps.....it's been nice to have time off for me. I've been doing well with eating, splurging a bit on the drinking.....but doing my best to stay active with walking & bike riding....a bit more serious next week :-)
-
My name is Suzanne and I was dx with stage 2 BC a year ago. I've been through surgery and my last chemo was January 30. I don't have an exercise plan and I'm still quite weak compared to last year. Doing a little walking but the arimidex makes me stiff and it takes a while to "warm up". Looking for ideas on how to start. Need some motivation. Planning on reading what people are doing here.
-
Hi, Janet!! Enjoy your vacation, you certainly deserve it!
Welcome 2timer! This is a great thread! Lots of encouragement and support here! I have been on aromasin for almost nine years, and these aromatose inhibitors can definitely affect your joints! I find walking and drinking a lot of water helps tremendously! My onc says to keep moving! Go at your own pace, but try to walk every day! Thanks for joining us, and the other ladies here have lots of wonderful tips!
-
Hi 2timer...I join Kathy in welcoming you too! Walking is a great way to start....be sure and get a good pair of walking shoes...your feet will thank you for it! Until my diagnosis changed, I had been taking femara for 3 years...had quite a bit of joint pain with it too. I took some advice from a lady on another thread and took it in the evening before bed instead of the morning...it seemed to help a little. Good luck to you in getting more activity in your life...the hardest part is just getting started! Feels so good once you do! Don't get discouraged....just get out there as often as you can.
tenaj......enjoy your vacation! I know you were looking forward to getting back to the beach. Hope you enjoy every moment!
-
Suzanne, welcome! I agree with Kathy....keep on moving. I'm on Femara and after the first 6 months of that initial "old lady" stiffness when getting out of a chair it lifted. The evening ritual of taking Femara works for me so worth a try. In regard to starting exercise, 5 minutes is better than 0 and 10 better than 5. I always thought if I couldn't do a 30 minute exercise session why bother but then I realised "something" is better than nothing so just give it a try!
Janet, enjoy your vacation....walking, biking, eating and drinking...heaven!
-
Good evening dear ladies, hope all is well & welcome Suzzane!
I'm back from vacation & am not going on the scale for a few days..... The weather was outstanding & I truly enjoyed relaxing, drinking & eating. Today I was off to a good start with my protein drink for breakfast, cream cheese & jelly sandwich on whole wheat bread for lunch, chicken burger no roll for dinner with garden tomatoes & fresh mozzarella. And don't forget LOTS of WATER!!!! I'm hungry now, but I'm just going to have some water, play on my IPad & then get some sleep before another crazy day at work.
Tammy, how the boating with the warriors going? They just reopened a canoe place nearby, I hope to go in a few weeks when it's not so hot.....
Kathy, congrats on the weight loss. Your eating well, exercises & grandparenting is paying off. My inspiration :-)
How are you feeling Jaytee?? Sending warm healing wishes your way.....
Rocket, did you go on your cruise yet?
-
Dear Janet, your vacation sounded wonderful!! You certainly deserved it! The cream cheese and jelly sounds so yummy!!! Thanks so much for your kind words! Gotta keep going and stay on track! I am craving ice cream, but because you inspired me, water instead!!
Tammy, how is the rowing going?
Welcome again, Suzanne!
Jaytee, how are you doing!
Rocket!! How are you?
Exercise today was walking a few trails with hubby and baby Grandaughter!!
-
Janet and Kathy, a I think the boating is helping to loosen up my shoulders which are always tight.
I got on the scales this morning :-(
New start coming up!
-
Tammy, could be muscle forming from the rowing, not to worry! I am sure you are in great shape!!
-
no worries Tammy......you can do this! glad your shoulders are feeling better!
-
Kathy, muscle would be nice but my jeans are telling me otherwise
-
- Popping in to say hello to you dear ladies! Hope all is well with everyone.....enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend
-
wow, Tenaj!! I was just thinking about all of you!! I miss you all ! Hoping we can all come here at least once a week to say hi and post our exercise and what we are doing to get those crazy pounds off!!
I am walking a lot, and doing pretty well with eating!! I fell off the wagon last night!! We went to a baseball game to celebrate my oldest son's birthday!! Nachos and ice cream!!! Yikes, not good, but back on track today! Did housework today, and walked!!! When I stay away from carbs, mainly bread, I can lose the weight! Hubby and I still babysit our youngest Grandaughter 3 days a week! We love taking her for walks! A big hi, to Tammy, Rocket, Janet and Judy!!!
-
YES,those crazy pounds!! Can't seem to make them go away! Kathy, you are so positive, motivated & determined, you are an inspiration! Thank you. Enjoy your walks with your granddaughter, that sounds perfect. Sounds like you had a fun time celebrating with your son, you deserve to celebrate!
I've been eating lots of tomatoes & other veggies from my garden. I've been taking about 3-4 bike rides a week, 4-6 mile trips. Drinking lots of water. I need to ramp up my green tea again & get back to my home exercise with weights & dancing around the house. The warm weather got in my way.......but I'm back at it again.... I won't give up!
