Exercising that brain of yours'.

See, this is me.... I WAS intelligent there for a brief second.... partly. But then it left.
Let me tell you about the Studies of the Enzymatic Hydrolysis of the Barley Endosperm During Malting. I wrote a book once... about beer... And I studied that book.
Oh please! Hold the applause!
-
wow, again I don't know what u r talking about..I'm believe I am worse than cami, I know nothing..but I am actually happiest that way...lol. It keeps things simple
Sas..no worries...I am ok. Leaving for Michigan Monday for a week to be with my daughter..yeahhhh but I get real busy with clients when I take a week off...even working tomorrow
I have been trying to keep up a bit here...not much luck. Hope everyone is fine, and I will catch up when I get back....or maybe just jump right in, since I don't know what u r talking about anyway...lol
-
good morning ladies. Hope everyone had a great 4th.
Cami - congrats on your 5 th bday!!!
Yes all this computer talk confuses me.
Chevy - hope your dell does all you want it to.
Have a great day ladies
-
Morning owls, remember I am not correcting auto correct . If there is something very strange. Just laugh.
Substandard3 sorry that auto correct is awful. Enjoy week with daughter. Where in Michigan? I am from there. Oodles of relatives all over the place. Happy to know you are okay
Cami HAppy fifth, and many more. My pooches survived the fourth. Hiding. The vet offered valium at what's visit this week. Saving it for what may be worse. Here fireworks go on for awhile. Less sparklers yesterday because it was very rainy.
Chevy congrats on the new outer. I am off to buy mine in a bit. It is an hour drive in each direction. We will incorporate an adventure or eating out. Waited till today to let the bladder records recover.
Blessings happy no injuries or damage. Nice to have such a wonderfully full day. Is today a bed day? Maddy, eaten, and I were owls last night. The lack of sleep is certainly felt today. Now need to ask intelligent questions. They do not mix well
-
Good morning all
Enjoy your 5th Cami.....??
Hope your new computer will be blazing fast Chevy. I might have to update my old desk top soon. I also have a laptop with windows 8, which is really bad. I mostly use the iPad for checking mail, and BCO, and reading books.
My dogs hid under the bed during the big booms last night. They came out for treats, of course, when it all ended. So glad I didn't have one of those bottle rockets near my house like Blessings did. That would have freaked out my dogs for days.
I rested all day yesterday, hopefully today I'll have some energy to do a few chores. It is hot and humid here. Hope all of you enjoy 'your fifth'
.....hugs
-
good morning, Owlettes!
Remembering many years ago going to an "enjoy the 4th on the 3rd with a fifth" pool party. That was many years ago when I didn't mind being seen in a swim suit.
Chevy, forgot to thank you for sharing a cup of hot coffee with you yesterday! Usually it's too Kate to do that. New 'puter - sweet! Wonder what fun new features it will have?
Blessings, sounds like a perfectly wonderful, kick-back day with DH and neighbors! You need more of those. Sounds like a moment of scare with the fireworks sparks. Doesn't take much for fires to happen around here, so very dry.
Sassy, I have no idea what you were trying to say. I ate and was a owl last night? Are you giving away my secret I was pigging out yesterday?
Since I got up so early yesterday (3 AM) I crashed and napped in the afternoon. Missed a last invite to go to a BBQ with a friend. From my upstairs window I could see the city's fireworks as well as a couple other displays in the valley in the distance.
Have a happy Saturday!
-
SAS, If you don't believe me, go to damnyouautocorrect.com. There are samples. Clearly autocorrect was programmed by young males.
Chevy, Be sure to make them show you the button that turns the screen back to the one you're used to. It's sort of hidden. BFF almost went crazy with hers before she learned that secret.
It's day 10 for our robins. Hoping for little ones in a few days. They're nesting on the cross beam just under our deck roof.
-
Wren, I ordered it from Walmart on-line, so as far as tech support, I'll just ask Cammi....
She works on phones you know....
I just don't know what I want to transfer via flash-drive to a new computer! I have a couple, but I know I have toooooo many photo programs, and I don't need my "Nook books" that I have also downloaded.... I have them on my Nook now, and probably won't order any more! I can always do it if I need it.
Also I don't know what I need other programs for.... mayber to run OTHER programs, but don't you wish you could just sit down with someone that knew what you need and what is just junk?
Things like JavaScript, Safari, iCloud, etc!
How fun watching the baby Robins! I'm chicken-sittin' again for the week-end.... AND PITA neighbor! Well not really, but she called me this morning, frantic, because she felt "terrible!" I asked if she wanted me to call an ambulance, but she said "No, just call Steve!" I mean WHAT does she have that CALL bracelet for? Maybe she thinks since I am closer, that I am her medic-on-call? THEY would just call Steve, and HE would call ME, to go sit until he GOT there! Did I mention before that she was a PITA?
So I did, and he said he would call her back.... But then I felt so bad, so I ran up there, to see if she was dead or alive, and she was "getting better".... He called her Doctor, and he was going to look up her BP med. and see if it needed adjusting yet again....
I told her I had to run, because we had to take our DD to work, because she ran out of gas..... I KNOW it was a fib, but man, I just didn't want to SIT with her again!
I just think she should go to the Hospital, so they can run tests, and see what was wrong with her! Maybe it was the Potato Salad? But I'M okay!
I'll wait for her to call me back this afternoon.... Man, she is worse than ..... I guess I don't know what!
-
Chevy, Did you have an iphone or mac before? I thought Safari was specific to apple, not sure about icloud. It might be worth the money to have someone look at both and tell you what you need and what you can get rid of. I like Mozilla for my browser. It works well and is free. I have a Mac and DH has a pc and they both work with Mozilla. Our senior center has classes and coaches for computers - you might check with yours.
Perhaps the PITA is doing all this for attention? My great grandmother had "heart spells" and DM would call the doctor. She finally told the Dr. that the spells seemed to follow times when she didn't get her way. The doctor said to give her an aspirin with the blank side up. If that didn't work in 20 minutes to call him. Never called him again. Also, why would she call you and tell you to call Steve. She could just call Steve herself and it would take less time. Maybe he won't take her calls? Maybe you should keep track of the time you're spending. Then, you'd have evidence to show Steve that they need to hire someone or move her kicking and screaming to assisted living.
-
not sure I can 'splain this. My iPhone backs up to iCloud only over wifi. All the stuff on my phone is in the cloud. If my phone ever dies, gets lost etc, I can retrieve all that info. It's like a backup for your hard drive.
-
I know Wren.... Steve called her, and said "Why didn't you call me?" And she told him because I was closer!
He just called me back.... He is taking her to Emergency, because even after taking those BP pills for about 4-5 days now, it is still really high... So the Doc said, maybe they didn't get to the bottom of her problem.
And YES, she IS spoiled, by her whole family! She has her Grand-daughter, and her Son and DIL.... She has another DIL, but she is fighting for her life right now, with brain cancer and chemo.....
She has had someone take her places her whole LIFE, because she would not drive. So I'm just hoping Steve finds out that she can NOT stay home alone anymore. That she needs more care than they can give her!
So it IS their problem, but you know, sometimes I just feel bad for her, because she looks so pitiful when I go up..... She COULD move into the same Assisted Living place where her DH is, but she doesn't want to live in the same room! Then can afford 2 rooms though! So we'll see....
Thanks.... And JWow works for Mac, and said I could ask her questions! Don't you just hate to try and figure things out? I can DO it always, but my brain gets tired!
-
Owls my dear Lovey's the worst is over. About ten minutes into the hour drive. The bladder pelvic floor started miss behaving. Grit and grimace. All the way there I kept thinking turn around. At the door thought maybe ask the manager for a rain check. Standing symptoms improved. Got the machine bought. Details for input later.
E.T. is on. Have not seen it since first out. Pain meds and a couple piggies on board.
Opened Bill from Quest on arrival home. $1771 for second consult and testing. This bill tells me that the pathologist did not get insurance approval. I know you all know this means months of work to solve the problem of payment. I once fought a $13 Bill for two years because someone screwed up. Ridiculous but it was the principal of the matter.
This is the same pathologist that twice missed everything on both biopsy and at thyroid removal.
The gloves are coming off, or is it the gloves are going on. Oh well, the battle commences.
E.T on.

Okay Spookie, my Phone Co. said I have wi-fi, with my modem! I didn't know that! I didn't USED to, because I could not up-load my Nook-books to my Nook, but my neighbor came over, and she put in her wi-fi number? And I could!
So I don't know if I need iCloud, or even what it is! Ha!
-
Commercial.
Chevy before I open box I am going to put model number here a d get those opinions that I can from friends here. Dbbf could not believe I bought this so fast. We'll feelings of bladder spasms and pain hurries decision-makers
Hewlet Packard Pavillion lap top. 11.6 inch. Weight less than two lbs. Windows 8.1. Beats audio. 4096mb. Ddr 3 .sdrm. wylan and Bluetooth. Intel processor. Internal camera.
Okay techies what do you think? My needs only searching, posting, email. Pic storage eventually. Wanted high mobility and comfort. Ability to connect to my tech support.
Paws. Why don't you like windows 8?
-
She don't like Windows 8? I am used to using Windows, but Vista is what it says.... See how much I don't know? This new Dell I ordered is coming with Windows 8.
What Browsers do you guys use? I mean for speed and efficiency?
I also have external speakers hooked up, so I can get better sound when I play my iTunes or music downloads!
Do you have a printer hooked up? I have an all-in-one, but no Fax with it.... I would be LOST without my printer!
-
hi owls, been busy with a project at work and not here much this week so many pages behind. I'm on a Dell desktop still running Windows XP. Have IE (for DH) and Chrome (for me) browers. One of these years we'll upgrade but this PC has been such a great workhorse it'll be hard to match. I don't have a smart phone so maybe a tablet ... will think about it. ♥ to all ((hugs))
-
Hi badger . Lots happening here. My big deal stuff , passed a bladder stone and computer overheated and fried. Everyone is trying to help with both. Love the owls.
Chevy, I use internet explorer and chrome. I had the big Dell. It was sons when he went to FIX (FSU) in 2003. Learned I did not need that. I like little in this area and big in other areas.
-
Sassy, glad both are in past tense! This was on W&F, love it. ♥
-
Chevy - we have the external speakers. We run like Blessings does Mozilla Firefox browser; DH tried Google Chrome and was not impressed. Firefox was reported to be less hacked than Internet Explorer (IE for short) mainly because fewer people used it and hackers didn't bother so much to hack it since it wasn't so common. I bet we haven't used IE in 15 years or so. DH recommends Windows Essentials for virus protection. Says once you get your net hooked up it is a free download. Have a Brother Fax/Scanner/Copier - love it but it is a little big. Sits on fireplace hearth we never use.
What I've heard about Windows 8 is there are no "windows" but I've never seen it run. Heaven help us when this PC dies. Sassy did you get to hold the laptop? I think DH's is really heavy but then I haven't had that much exp. with them. He had a Panasonic Tough Book that you could have used for a weapon it was so heavy/durable. They did use it on the battlefields. Have now Desktop Acer about 4 years old, DH's laptop is a Gateway about 2 years old. Both run Windows 7.
Sassy - glad now that the worst is over. No more stones, you hear?
Susan - sounds like a busy good time. Sending my love.
-
hey ms Sassy, looked over info about your new 'puter. I can't offer any opinion here as my laptop (with Windows) fried years ago. Was really proficient on it, word processing, detailed tables, lots of spreadsheets, power point presentations (teaching then). We only had Mac and hated it, it was difficult to do anything. Now that I've gotten used to it, the few times I've used windows, I've preferred the Mac. Maybe you can use your laptop for Skype (or similar). Sorry I can't offer more advice, hopefully others will weigh in.
Are the stones gone completely?
-
Thanks, Maddy and little goats. Yes, I got to lift It and play with all the positions. Checked out the fan position. They have corrected the design. The unit weighs maybe a couple of pounds. It can be used in about four positions. Tablet ,standing, notebook, and something else.
I just opened the box the instructions are very simple.
Find home. Bob what I wrote was dbf home bbl. How can this be so off on the kindle. Tell me does Windows 8.1 have this problem. That I would not deal with.
Wren not questioning you, but the programmers have programmed it to do that, I have seen either that web site or similar. Funny.
Thanks lovely 's

Hi Everyone,
I am definitely not a computer expert. I bought my HP laptop early this year for work. It came with windows 8. It differs from other windows versions. It has tiles on it that look like boxes. I finally figured out how to make it look like windows 7 version with my wallpaper and icons. I added word to it. Problem is with windows 8, there is no highlight, copy, paste function by holding the mouse down. It took me lots of hours to figure out copy paste function alternative. Also, windows 7 is sensitive. Drag pages to close them. No X at the top to close pages. Go to far right and white icons appear magically to shut down. I picked up the windows 8 for dummies book. I heard that some issues were fixed with the upgrade to windows 8.1. Good luck Gals with your new computers. If we see #%*+%#^*chit....we will understand why
) I use Internet explorer and Firefox ...Safari on the iPad and iPhone

Just realized: today is the 1-year anniversary of my last revision sx to remove mudflaps on both sides and capsulorrhaphy/removal of scar tissue on one side. So glad to put that behind me!
-
Celebrate 2nd....glad that is all behind you.
-
thanks Pawprint
-
MADdY congratulations. Yay
Pawprint. I hope am not doing chit in two months as you say. This does not have an instruction book. It is a single two sided sheet. Suppressing the OCD need to measure. But will take Wrens suggestion about a class.
The instruction books that came with my first Gateway in 1996, were maybe over a foot high.
Maddy the stone activity has picked up. Likely up all night. The fireworks started. Dinis choice for quiet area the bathroom. No fall, near miss. This is like a very bad script.
-
Yes 2TA glad you have no more mudflaps. You SoCal gals ain't got no use for mudflaps.
Glad you are done with that.
Sassy - wouldn't Dini like to sleep with DBF? Does dog have any drugs even some Benadryl - but I will say it has zero affect on my dog. I think you mentioned vet offered Valium but you didn't want the heavy stuff for them. Please be careful. Know what pain can do to your perceptions and Dini doesn't know you're not func. as well right now. Are you getting the heavy rain? The race at Daytona has been postponed until tomorrow. They never even started it.
Laptop sounds neat. I had DH look up a Microsoft prod. I saw advertised on TV. He says it was $1500 - one of those that you can take apart and it makes a tablet. Needless to say that's not happenin' in this house unless I win the lotto.
Neighbors had a decent fireworks show last night, lots of sky high boomers. It has been a decently wet June, wettest in 5 years so no worry about grass fires. That is prob. about to change, rain going away unless we get a storm come in the gulf.
-
Odd all of this talk about computers seeing as how my work computer was fried by lightening Wednesday night, so I spend all day thursday getting a new one, it only came with the windows 8 option, but my computer guy fixed it so it will look and act like Windows 7! thank goodness I wasn't really up for learning new stuff for a work computer! However, when I left work thursday, it was still trying to download windows office so hopefully by Monday morning all will be ready to go!!
Hope everyone had a happy 4th!!
My poor Si man, my DH and DD thought this was funny!
-
Not sure why it's not letting me resize the pics tonight, but this is me and my DD about one year ago! I now have hair again! Not as long as before, actually still pretty short, but hey, I have hair, unruly, messy, does what it wants, hair! And below is me about 1 month ago with DH!
