Magdalene, Love the lace and the porcelain. I bet your tables look wonderful!
Can't wait to see your pictures Alyson.
Anyone remember Furby? I stood in line for this darn toy for hours one Christmas for my daughter.

Just found this thread. It's GREAT!!I still have one of those speckled roasters. How 'bout the speckled canners? Anyone else still do home canning? (I do, but don't use the speckled canner for it - I use that for dying silk.)
The Electrolux vacuum that was back a few pages - I remember riding it while my Mom vacuumed.
And home baked bread - well, I still did that right up until I discovered I had a wheat allergy....
Remember the radio flyer wagons?

I LOVED mine. My sister and I would fill it with old pop bottles and pull it up to the store to cash 'em in. Then we'd buy ice cream with the money.
-
GG, one of the ladies actually used their old wagon for a planter. I thought that was such a great idea!!
-
I used to play with one of these as a kid.

Hey, slow........you may have played with that gizmo, but I actually used one of those at my first office job!!!! Wow, now I feel really old.
MsP
-
MsP, I sure loved that thing! I could play with it for hours pretending to be a cashier.
-
When I was four years old my mom taught my grandmother how to drive. My granddad owned a 1956 Chevy Belair. It was a two door and I remember my brother and I sitting in the back seat while the driving lesson was in progress. My mom and grandmother were laughing so hard that grandma was creeping along at about 5 mph! Love these memories!

-
Thanks for sharing your memories notagaintoo. I often get lost in the good ol' days.
-
My parents drank this...

Loved my tiny tears doll. SharonMH

Hi gals, such fun memories. I remember when my Dad brought home "soda pop" in a can for the first time and offered me what I thought was a beer. I freaked out!!! He pretty much had to force me to drink the delicious Nehi grape soda and when I saw the grape drink drizzling down the front of my shirt, I felt really silly for refusing to drink a BEER.
Love, MsP

-
gardengumby - that Radio Flyer wagon is PRISTINE!!!
Here's mine....

-
Too funny about Furby. My folks had a dog that was wildly infatuated with Furby. They scrounged replacements at garage sales for years to keep him happy.
-
Blessings, that is so cool. Mine turned to dust a milleni ago, I'm sure!!
Oncowarrior, for canning I use a pressure cooker now, as I'm usually canning salmon and need the higher heat.
-
Who remembers doing this in the summer........we were ghouls...we would make a ring out of the light.......OMG what were we thinking.....

-
Ducky!!!! Yes, I confess to trapping lots of defenseless lightning bugs. We used to play in the park across the street from our house....actually we took it over in the summer. We built a campsite amidst the trees on one side and left our badminton net up all summer in the clearing. We camped out there with no worry whatsoever from our parents about being hurt, abducted, etc. Sadly, I was back in the old neighborhood for a funeral last year and there was my old house and the park...which was so tiny. Interesting how big things seem to the little ones.Have a wonderful holiday! MsP
-
Ms........have a good 4th also..........at least you didn't confess to taking out their poor light and making a ring outt of it.
-
Ducky, There weren't lightening bugs where I grew up in New York, but I did
get to see them when we would visit my Grandparents in PA. I was amazed
the first time I saw one. She would always save jars to put them in when
she knew we were coming.MsP, What a wonderful story about your
campsite. I know what you mean about things looking smaller. I always
thought my Grandparents house was huge when I was a kid. I was looking
at it on Google a few weeks ago and it looked so tiny. I guess it's never how you remembered it as a kid. My Mom used to say, "You can't go back."Melissa,
Believe it or not, I still have my daughters Furby. After all that
waiting in line, I couldn't bear to throw it away. lol -
Does anyone remember these?

We used them to make our own popsicles from Kool-Aid when I was a kid. Much cheaper and reusable!
-
Yes.......had them, and also the jello cups and the parfait and ice cream dishes......

-
Anyone wear glasses as a kid? This isn't me, but I'm pretty sure I had a pair of specs just like this! CAT-EYE!!!!

-
Blessings, I am chuckling. I had glasses in that shape when I was 12....but they were "bedazzled" all across the top. I was so excited to have them. Did you have these in the 70's??

-
I had both those styles of glasses! And many others along the way.
-
Ran like a crazy person after school to get home to watch...

-
BookWoman......welcome.........its fun here..........glad you stopped by..............Anyone have one of these.....remember standing in long lines for them....

-
Remember the Mickey Mouse Club?
-
I remember driving a five hour round trip in a blizzard to get my hands on one of these for X-mas from some freaky black-market.
What we won't do sometimes to not disappoint our kiddos. Sheesh.
-
i bought one (the cabbage patch doll) for my daughter when they first came out. She didn't want it so we gave it away. Then they got popular so she wanted one. Of course I got her one..then another..
-
My nieces had the Cabbage Patch Kid.
leggo, you've got me beat. No blizzards here! Now that's true devotion!!!
I LOVED Gilligans Island!!!!!
