Magdalene, Love the lace and the porcelain. I bet your tables look wonderful!

Can't wait to see your pictures Alyson.

Anyone remember Furby? I stood in line for this darn toy for hours one Christmas for my daughter.

Just found this thread.  It's GREAT!!

I still have one of those speckled roasters.  How 'bout the speckled canners?  Anyone else still do home canning?  (I do, but don't use the speckled canner for it - I use that for dying silk.)

The Electrolux vacuum that was back a few pages - I remember riding it while my Mom vacuumed.

And home baked bread - well, I still did that right up until I discovered I had a wheat allergy....

    Remember the radio flyer wagons?

I LOVED mine.  My sister and I would fill it with old pop bottles and pull it up to the store to cash 'em in.  Then we'd buy ice cream with the money.

GG, one of the ladies actually used their old wagon for a planter. I thought that was such a great idea!!

When I was four years old my mom taught my grandmother how to drive.  My granddad owned a 1956 Chevy Belair.  It was a two door and I remember my brother and I sitting in the back seat while the driving lesson was in progress.  My mom and grandmother were laughing so hard that grandma was creeping along at about 5 mph!  Love these memories!

Hi gals, such fun memories.  I remember when my Dad brought home "soda pop" in a can for the first time and offered me what I thought was a beer.  I freaked out!!!   He pretty much had to force me to drink the delicious Nehi grape soda and when I saw the grape drink drizzling down the front of my shirt, I felt really silly for refusing to drink a BEER.

    Love, MsP

Too funny about Furby. My folks had a dog that was wildly infatuated with Furby. They scrounged replacements at garage sales for years to keep him happy.

Blessings, that is so cool. Mine turned to dust a milleni ago, I'm sure!!

Oncowarrior, for canning I use a pressure cooker now, as  I'm usually canning salmon and need the higher heat.

Ducky!!!!  Yes, I confess to trapping lots of defenseless lightning bugs.  We used to play in the park across the street from our house....actually we took it over in the summer.  We built a campsite amidst the trees on one side and left our badminton net up all summer in the clearing.    We camped out there with no worry whatsoever from our parents about being hurt, abducted, etc.  Sadly, I was back in the old neighborhood for a funeral last year and there was my old house and the park...which was so tiny.  Interesting how big things seem to the little ones.

    Have a wonderful holiday!  MsP

Ducky, There weren't lightening bugs where I grew up in New York, but I did
get to see them when we would visit my Grandparents in PA. I was amazed
the first time I saw one. She would always save jars to put them in when
    she knew we were coming.

MsP, What a wonderful story about your
campsite. I know what you mean about things looking smaller. I always
thought my Grandparents house was huge when I was a kid. I was looking
at it on Google a few weeks ago and it looked so tiny. I guess it's never how you remembered it as a kid. My Mom used to say, "You can't go back."

    Melissa,
Believe it or not, I still have my daughters Furby. After all that
waiting in line, I couldn't bear to throw it away. lol

    Does anyone remember these?

We used them to make our own popsicles from Kool-Aid when I was a kid.  Much cheaper and reusable!

Blessings, I am chuckling.  I had glasses in that shape when I was 12....but they were "bedazzled" all across the top. I was so excited to have them.   Did you have these in the 70's??
