Hi,
dutchiris – been missing you!Mostlymom – cute puppy!
And that’s some carrot…2TA – for some
reason that kitteh did NOT want you to go to that job fair! How is your ankle
today? Did you do the RICE thing? (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) Hope you
recuperate quickly! Do you still have your iPad? Can you get pics on it? Big
hugs for you regarding Mom. Been there, done that, it’s hard. You can do this.
You know where to find me.Chevy – in my old
house, I didn’t have a dishwasher. EVERYTHING was done by hand. Then I got
married and moved, and the new house had…… a dishwasher!!! The first time we
used it, I thought I had all new dishes, they sparkled so much… guess I wasn’t
very good at handwashing.Cami – so sorry
about your SIL…. At least it sounds like
something treatable….Badger – I would brave
a lightning storm if it meant RAIN in our area!!!! Unfortunately, none in sight
for a very long time.Oh,
luvmygoats, do I dare even ask about
handwashing “those plastic containers that have sex and multiple during the
night?” OH…. WAIT….. I think I get it now!!!! Funny, you…. And those vintage ads are hysterical!Smaarty – busy day
planned!!!Enerva – prayers that your
sister feels better. Wishing you the best on your appt with the PS this
Wednesday. Do you need us in your pocket? We’re there!Hi,
Pawprint! Hot where you are, eh?
Supposed to be 108 here for the next few days….Hi,
Wren, Hi, Blondie, Hi, SpookiesmomFierceBluebird – you are so
beautiful!!! And yes – STILL beautiful!!! -
Enerva, the photos are breath-taking! Must be my eyes because I can't see you very well in the photo, can't tell if your hair is curly or straight, but you HAVE hair and a cute figure! So, looking good to me!
Thanks for the support with my mom. I know I'm very lucky in many ways - they are so much closer that I get to see them often, while Mom is crazy looney tones (and often mean to me) I know it's the Alzheimer's as she was never like that towards me when I was younger (maybe she thought the thoughts, but she was always kind), am so VERY grateful Dad is so in love with her that he's caring for her as best he can, that they're in a great CCRC (continuing care retirement community) so if anything happens to Dad, Mom is taken care of (and I don't have to feel one bit guilty), that one brother and his family isn't close nearby (he wants to "take charge" of Mom which I think Dad should be able to make the decisions) and the other sis-in-law would rely on my parents to baby sit their 3 kids (even with mom's situation, this sis-in-law is that self-centered) and that mom still has some moments of clarity. This is so very different than when her mother had alzheimer's and was confined to a bed way too early because it was the easiest thing to do...
Any who (or any whoot), hoping your short week starts off really well. Anyone have great plans for the 4th?
-
Blessings, you snuck right in there while I was typing! Actually, lucked out with the ankle, I was close to the landing so my ankle wasn't too bad (this time) and I didn't need to catch myself or yank my arm. I immediately sat my butt in the recliner, elevated it, iced it, took acetominophen and NSAID and promptly fell asleep. Yup, have the ipad (don't have use of the Mac though, DH logged it out of DD's account and we don't have her password and ALL my files are under her account (she set up more features years ago and I just always used her account). Screwed now! She won't answer vm, text or emails to help me out. And double YUP, I do know where to find you . Sounds like it will be really HOT up there!
Did get out today and my trip to Wally World. Need to find my pictures and post the people of Walmart. Got a juicer (to replace the one DD took with her. How dare she get me hooked on the thing and then take it, even though it was hers)
And the two kitties are so much more their normal selves! Did I mention that DH left a hot dog on the counter (apparently), I went to get a glass of water around 2 am and found the remaining 1" of hot dog on the floor! That critter ate almost a whole hot dog by herself! (I'd blame my cat, but she was sleeping on the desk where I was sitting at the Mac till the wee hours so I know it wasn't her, besides the fact she has NEVER climbed on the counters in the kitchen in 13 years).
Good night, owlettes and John-Boy!

Ladies- allow
me to translate luvmygoats' post
about her sexy plastic containers. What I believe she is referring
to is the fact that she has lots of plastic containers like Tupperware or
Rubbermaid or even those containers that lunch meat comes in that we all keep
even though they are disposable. For some reason, every night they mate and new
ones are produced when you least expect it. And then you have a gazillion
containers. How'd I do LMG? And if that's not it, and you were referring to some
exotic practice you have, then you will have to explain it yourself.~ ~ ~
Nettie – You wrote...
this
is what I was told, Sas, maybe you can make more sense of it:I asked her:
"Hey, you told me something about once you see a pain dr,
they have to contacted before any pain meds are given by other drs???? Or did I
dream this??"This is her answer:
"That is true...once u are under narcotic agreement with
them. Now they won't give u pain meds without the agreement"The reason I was asking if you had been through a Pain Management Clinic (not just a Pain Doctor) was because several years ago I was so miserable I went through a TEN WEEK Chronic Pain Management Program.
One of these days I am going to write about my experience. It was truly life-changing.
I'm not talking about ACUTE pain, such as with an injury, post-surgery, or even pain from mets. What I'm referring to is the pain that never goes away, may or may not have a source, and the fact that most of your doctors tell you that they have done all they can for you.
That just isn't true. There is a huge component of chronic pain over which we have control, and the current thinking is there is a huge difference between a person who just wants their pain to disappear, and one who just wants to function again.
I'm writing up an summary of what I learned, so that I don't put everyone to sleep here. (Or maybe that would be a good idea, considering the title of this thread!!!)
~ ~ ~
2TA - I think we are staying home, BBQing some turkey burgers with gluten-free buns (if we can find some we like) and sitting in the back yard watching the fireworks over at the high school. When we first moved in here, it was a new development, and we could see everything really well. Now all the trees are mature, so we only see the small ones through the branches. But the big ones (that hurt your ears and make car alarms go off) are way up high, and still very visible. But all that smoke is not good for my asthma. So I usually wuss out early and go inside. Besides, the mosquitos tend to eat me up. DH braves it til the grand finale. Whoopee. You?
-
Blessings, very interesting.... About the containers, we don't save the disposable kind, DH would never stand for that. Our problem is that the lids seem to disappear....
Can't wait for the chronic pain management info as I have been having constant discomfort/pain in chest area and one side, all mx and recon related. Gentle stretching helps a bit.
Not sure about the weekend. Our city puts on a big fireworks show, it's exactly 2 miles away, straight east. Again, don't know if we can see anything with the trees growing so tall (this area was built in '86). Can go to my parents, just don't know yet, very confused.
-
Good morning Ladies----this thread moves so fast and I just read everything remember some but don't remember who posted everything so here I am, more confused than ever.
FBB I can't imagine u being anything else but beautiful--u really are.
2nd Ur mom??? This is so hard to go thru, and u have a lot going on too.
Oh damn I'm already forgetting what everyone said now.
Well I do remember the containers---nothing said has made any sense to me yet--who started this container talk and why does it sound so porny or horny and we're talking about Tupperware? Wow those new parties for them would be great, I think Blessing tried to explain, but I don't think so. I mean do we get little containers in the morning, or does this get delivered to some kind of bank--u know u can bank on that??? Chevy I'm so confused--I need help (I know in all areas)
My DD did spend the night with my SIL--I swear (a lot) but those 2 hate to spend time away from each other, they've been together over 17 yrs, and they are totally devoted (believe me I love that) but sometimes it's a bit to much LOL The drs. are still guessing, maybe stones in the pancreas?????? was the last I heard. So I really gave Joey my time, but he gave me his too so we slept together with this huge dog and cat in bed with us and giggling and talking--anyway we should know more today---Joey seems to understand a lot cuz Marty has been overnite in a hospital a lot over the years--with strange ailments so far he does OK and seeing me in and out of Drs, and hospitals he's very empathetic about this.
It's shower day today for me--I just know it is hahaha so I'll be smellin' really nice soon--I think I've got to have some coffee first. Yea that sounds good, OK BBL
-
OMG Blessings! Ha, ha...! You nailed it! I had no clue WTH she was talking about!
Now THAT is hysterical, because yesterday I just ordered 2 sets of Rubbermaid plastic containers! I HAVE all those other ones that lunch-meat comes in! And I can never find the right lids! I buy cheap little sets from the Dollar store, and those are worse!
Yes, they DO mate! At least the lids do! Maybe DH has more sense, and throws them away, but not as a set! Damn, you've come onto something there! You are a genius!
Now watch Littlegoats come back and say "No, that is not what I meant!" Ha, ha.... This just cracked me up!
I'll be back later! xoxoxoxo
"Porny and Horney"!!!! Ah Geez Cammi! That was great!
-
porny and horny! Funny!
What's not funny? A loud freakin' mariachi band is playing across the street and it started before 7 am! In that house plan the master bedroom is in the front of the house over the garage so they're serenading someone, its way too early for that loud trumpet playing!!
-
morning Owletes, Hope everyone has a good week. Trying to catch up. Computer problems. If I disappear, it's the computer on fire. My tech buddy worked on it. ??????????? I took the temperature of the bottomside with my digital thermometer. 105.4. No idea what a computers normal temperature is---------GUMBY, YOOHOO ---need your expertise
L&H&P's and BBL if machine temp goes down.
-
Oh Good Lord Sass! You took your computers temp on it's bottom? Did you girls hear that? They are all laughing Sass.... Next, you will be giving it Castor Oil or something.
Set it on an ice-pack and party-on..... with 22222222nd!
-
hey ladies. Been reading all your post and enjoying a good laugh. Thanks
2nd - sorry to hear about your mom. Hope the job search is successful soon. What kind of juicer did you but ? We have a nutribullet and we LOVE it.
Chevy - I STILL hang my clothes on the line. Friends and family think I am crazy. Electric company says I save about .50 per load not counting the savings from the ac not running more. Woohoo !!! I also love the smell of line dried clothes it reminds me of my childhood. Haven't been able to hang them out in about a year due to this terrible back pain but as soon as we get this pain lined out, I am back to line drying.
Cami - hope your sil finds out it is nothing very serious.
Spooki- is your Aussie missing a leg ?
Blessings - 108 today wow !!! That's too hot for me. I am in arkansas I think our high today is 94 and I thought that was too hot. Hope you are staying inside or in the pool.
I've been reading our ages. So varied. All of us are too young for this sucky cancer. At orig dx everywhere I went people commented in how young I was and how it was unfair but I just said being younger made me stronger physically and better able to fight. Skip forward 11 years nurses and dr and techs still comment in my age and I just smile. I am so so thankful to still be alive. I may be 43 but feel like 80. Dang bone pain.
Hello to all I didn't mention. It's so hard to remember all I wanted to say. Hope everyone had a great day today
-
One for everybody! Morning owls
Got everything done yesterday. The play was great. Got home about 8. So going to get some sewing done today or at least cut out the next dress.
FFB, love the color of your hair. Are you still a redhead or did that change too? Great pic of you.
No plans for the 4th yet. It's my youngest birthday, but he didn't know what they are doing. He'll be 39.
BBl
-
jwoo is our baby!
cammi, so sorry to hear about all the family -doctor- hospital- troubles. Thank goodness for Joey and Kateycat so you can destress. Can't wait to read your latest fresh shower smell
Hate those freakin' plastic containers! Losing lids, falling out of cabinets, reproducing in the middle of the night... the misery never ends. I've been trying to slowly replace all mine with glass containers, but can't find a set I truly like. Love the pyrex/corning ware style that you can cook in, but haven't found ones I really like yet.
I'd also like to read any chronic pain management advice. I'm considering going to an accupuncturist since my radiation damage pain continues to grow. Steroids help but I'd rather avoid them if possible.
2TA, big hugs for all the issues your facing lately. You've got a lot on your plate!
Sas, are we talking desktop or laptop? One of the big problems with laptops is overheating. Be sure not to use it on your lap if air can't circulate. If you hear the fan kick on, that's a bad sign. I was in a bad habit of using mine with a blanket underneath or in bed during the winter. A big no-no!
Lilgoats, I have a rat terrier too. He was a rescue 13 years ago and is much bigger than the rat terriers today. Some of the rat terriers these days look more like chihuahuas.
And thanks for all the compliments. I'm slowly getting used to my curly locks, but what a big difference! Good thing Chevy and her daughter enjoy watching my home movies.
-
smaarty, what cute owl mugs! Yes, my hair is completely different now. After it fell out it came back white, almost clear! Then slowly came in darker and curly. The ends had a nice frosted look for awhile, But that has gone away too. It's pretty boring honey brown now. But I'm happy to have hair back. It is falling out where I had brain radiation though. In a nice little circle. So that will be interesting!
Pattypepper I hang my clothes out too!
-
Sas, I just saw a news segment on television about overheated laptop computers. They catch on fire and explode. You need a cooling pad under the laptop computer, and it needs to be shut down to cool down every few hours.
Container talk is funny. I have both glass and plastic. I like glass for storing leftovers. I like the lightweight pastic if I'm packing a lunch. But I agree, i can't locate half of the container lids.
Sorry to hear about what's going on with your mom 2nd, it must be so emotionally difficult. Hugs to you my friend.
Well, it will a long day. I took a Claritin-D yesterday, and felt wired up all night. Finally falling asleep around 5am this morning, and waking up at 6:30
Heading out to work now.
Hugs to all......
-
FBB that's right u were in a movie about a blue bird when u were a teen, I forgot about that. I think it was called Blubird of ????????????? U should be proud of that work, of course that would make u almost 90 by now but u really look good. See it's all relative.
Oh my DD bout plastic stuff with the lids attaching to bottoms so u can always find the right one, now is anyone would attach those bottoms it would help. My one SIL was the most organized person I've every seen, every piece of Tupperware was put in the order that the lids were on the side never failing, just like her pantry was all alphabetical, now when I look at ours cuz my bunches are mixed in there are like 40 bottoms with 10 tops, the bottoms are multiplying and the tops go running away so they must be the males.
-
Patty
No, he had all 4 legs, one was white, the other was white tip, copper, then black.
The bottom if this tire jump was 20" off the ground
-
spookie. - great pic. Great dog. I have always wanted to go to a dog show like that. Is it called an agility course ? Never seen anything like that around here. Might make a good day trip if I could find some close by. Did you train him yourself ?
-
Yes, that's agility, and I can't remember where that trial was. The pic says ASCA, Aust Shepherd Club of America, so could be in Tampa. That would be a place to check for upcoming trials, or Am Kennel Club also has listings. I trained him myself. It was sooooo much fun training and traveling Can't do it now, I'm waaaay to creaky for it. Darn it!
-
Hey everyoneI tried to catch up on posts, but I get overwhelmed with all the posts.
Luvmygoats and Sas-I've got a call in for case manager. I have had my insurance call before and offer this to me, but I didn't know what it was all about.
Keeping this short, just wanted to check-in. muwah!
-
Ha, ha, Fierce! Yes, she is coming over Wednesday to watch another Shirley Temple movie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLLSqpYyPD8&index=4...
She is sooooo cute, but I think it makes it special because DD enjoys watching them with me....ONE of the movies we watched, Shirley was tap-dancing... So I told DD "I can do that!" So I stood up, and tap-danced with my cane, about a week after that surgery! She just laughed!
I just put a little fan back together.... I bought it at the Goodwill store... But it would not work all the time... So I examined it, and saw lots of dust & lint in there... I took the whole thing apart, cleaned it all, even squirted CLR in it, on the posts that turn, and wound up with only 1 left-over screw... So I used Duck Tape... It's used for everything.
And it works! I even impressed myself! I didn't NEED another fan, but it looked pretty new, and was only $7.... but only a good deal if it WORKED!
Hi Tang, Pepper & Spookie! BEAUTIFUL dog ! She looks just like the dog my Daughter had! Chevy was a Blue Merle....
-
Meet Venus! Beautiful cat!
Yes, she is really marked those different colors!
-
Chevy - girl you got skills ! $7 fan. Nice work
-
I love the cats that have the dividing line down the middle of the face. Venus is especially striking. DH's sister had a cat who was white with black spots on one side and black with white spots on the other.
-
Chevy I was kind of lauging about the temp when I wrote it. But figured someone would know. AND knowing that it was very hot would help. Works with humans
LOL
FBB two nights ago I did use it in bed searching a glass piece. Have I messed it up permanently? It's not the first time I did this, but first thim with the heat. I did turn it off two nights ago.
I shut it down after this mornings post. Restatrted to see if it would get hot again. Heated up to 103.8 within 1/2 hr. Going to post this and shut it down. The battery isn't hot . It's the lap top bottom, predominantly left side.
I'll check back in for advice Thanks sassy
-
Okay, Sass! Read this & see if it sounds familiar....
My Daughter once told me how hot her cell-phone got... I told her to take that rubber cover off... let it cool down, and maybe don't keep it on when you aren't using it?
http://lifehacker.com/5885376/why-is-my-laptop-so-hot-and-what-can-i-do-about-it
-
Wren, isn't this one pretty?
Thanks Pepper! I have decorated leopard print tape on both sides... sort of jazzes it up...Ha!
-
Sas I forgot u took the comp. temp. hahaha Only u, not even Chevy would do that.
Oh those cats are beautiful is there a brand name for them? or does it just happen?
Chevy u'r DD sounds so fun, like her mother, if in fact that is u'r DD-did u ever have DNA tests, After all a lot of men are named as father on a BC, and they didn't do it at the right time. Sooo? wait it doesn't work like that does it? Well I very seldom have been wrong, but when I am I really act like I admit it.
My SIL is home on some meds they're running around doing errands--they're both crazy. At least now I have some new slipper sox in new colors bright yellow and 50 shades of gray (or grey).
-
Cammi! You have that book? You little Dickens you! Such a loose woman.... Don't pretend you don't know what book I am talking about...
