THE WAY WE WERE......LOOKING BACK IS FUN

Y'all will appreciate this. DH loves his hulu, watches all the old shows. Today it was Lost in Space, Time Tunnel, and Bonanza. We were trying to remember all the names. How is it I can remember that the cook was named Hop Sing, but I can't remember what I did yesterday?
-
magdalene, I absolutely loved lost in space when I was a kid. Also loved Bonanza. I watch Bonanza on Hulu too!
Ducky, that car is a beauty! I can't believe how expensive they are to buy now.
I never got into ironing. We have a steamer that works really well and we steam everything. Before that, we also used the dryer and went to the dry cleaner for the special items!!
-
My Dad had one of these.
-
I loved this show. I was such a dork!!
-
i remember all the slices on my legs from my dad's razor....

-
Dad had one of those razors along with the cup of soap and brush!
-
My DH still has and uses that double sided razor. Family joke: he still has the first dollar he ever made, invested it and now he is set for life!

Remember when these were delivered to your front door.......

I had a milk man
And
A soda man...delivered seltzer too so we could make egg creams
-
Hi, I remember so many of these things. How about the Fuller Brush Man and Helms Bakery Truck. SharonMH
-
-
Welcome Sharon.........
-
OMG Ducky.....get out of my head will ya??!!
-
I had one of these when I was first married.......It came with all kinds of attachments.......
-
Anyone remember the Good Humor man?
-
My Nana had a cherry-red '57 Chevy that she bought brand new. We used to laugh at her blue hair and her red car, but man, she was smokin' hot!!!
I don't think we had milk or bread delivered because the store was so close, but I do remember the Fuller Brush Man, and lining up with all the neighbor kids for the Ice Cream Truck. Funny, we couldn't hear our Moms yelling in our ears, but we could make out the tune on the truck ten miles away....
And my mom had that EXACT Electrolux vacuum!!!! I hated it when she made me vacuum, because there were no disposable bags, and I nearly choked to death emptying the cloth one.
Melissa - did you ever get one of those big wooden extension tops for your ironing board so you could iron more fabric at one time? I got the plans so DH could make me one, then I gave up quilting.
-
Mags, I didn't get to watch that particular show either...mom said they were the devils. A few years later though, she stood in line to get a Beatle bag for me, which I still have!
I remember getting a stupid permanent just before school started but I think it was a Lilt? Looked like a sheep dog with no bangs left..
Always wanted my own makeup case to carry on the bus when traveling but had to take mom's. I still want one!
-
I remember that my dad's pride and joy at one point was a motorized ice cream maker. No more hand cranking! That must have been in the early 60's sometime...
Rats! Now I'm hungry!
-
Making me hungry too AZ.
Remember the old cartoons???
El Kabong, Quick Draw McGraw & Baba Looey, Felix the Cat, Rocky & Bullwinkle
-
OMG, how did you ever remember El Kabong? SlowDeepBreaths, this one's for you! (Supposedly the first cartoon featuring El Kabong...)
-
WOW, AZ.....that sure brings back memories! He wasn't wearing his mask though. That must have come later.
-
LOL...getting such a kick out of this thread...kind of like my life in front of me and you did all the work! My dad was a Fuller Brush Man. He still owns a fuller brush and the case he used to bring to people's homes to sell the products (which were $$ but amazing). Then he got in to Sikorsky aircraft and no more cool samples of creams and shampoo....bah! Thanks for the memories ladies.
-
Blessings, I did get an extension for the ironing board - I found it an a garage sale that had listed fabric for sale. Helps a lot.
-
We had Bunny Bread delivered to the house. The driver would put it on the windowsill. Still have a hand crank ice cream maker as well as an electric one.
-
Ladies.........can I say thanks for the Memories..........and to anyone who has posted for the first time Welcome........I remember all those things because as I said "I am the oldest".....
I do remember choking when you had to empty the cloth bag on the end of the Electrolux....lol...
My kids watched those cartoons..........LOL....see I am older then most of you..........
Keep it coming ladies.....this is so much fun...........hugs
-
Everyone got this as a shower gift from their Mother.....................................The brown one is what my husband's mother bought for him.......ony 1....that was it......and we traveled 3,400 miles across country by car to Yakima Washington where he was stationed in the Army....
-
Does anyone remember the Peignoir Set that you wore on your wedding night with matching shoes.......every Mom gave her daughter one of those in my day....
