RL, I haven't been to Greece, but it's on my short list. DH just needs to get invited to a conference there. Plus our bodies have to hold out! These long international trips are getting harder year by year.

Santorini is spectacular!  I've been to a number of the islands and spent a fair amount of time in Athens.  It was the closest "Western" place to get to when my former husband and I were living in Pakistan in the mid-80s.  I have always had a soft spot for Greece!  I hear you about the long international flights ... I'm 6'1" and can no longer sit for any length of time in a coach seat made for children.  DH has a bad back, too, so it will have to be business class for us - and staying long enough to make it worth the trip, so it has to wait until he is retired.

Have a marvelous, marvelous time.  Fabled Constantinople!

When we were younger we saw Italy top to bottom, Milan to Sicily (not all in one trip though). Anyway, that has got to be the most beautiful country on earth. So glad I was able to see it.

The cowardly, despicable, seditious cop-killers in Nevada draped a Gadsden flag over one of the policemen they ambushed and murdered in Las Vegas.  Here is what the Gadsden flag now means:

Don't tell me the flag has been misappropriated.
I hear that about the confederate flag.
I'm sure it's been used about the Nazi flag.
This is the flag of killers and seditionists. Not patriots.
It's time to put it away.

The color of cowards and snakes and low-lives who hate their country.

Sorry for turning the convo back to politics for a moment, but I saw the meme and wanted to get it out there.

Back to travel - I've only transited Italy, once many, many years ago.  We flew from Belgrade to Rome and took a train from Rome to Paris.  I just remember driving past the Coliseum in a taxi and rushing to get to the train.  There was no dining car on the train, so I was VERY hungry and in tears the next morning, so, in the cruelest of ironies, Italy is the place where I didn't get anything to eat on my honeymoon!

RL, your link is broken. But how sad about your honeymoon experience in Italy. The most breathtaking thing I've ever seen is the Amalfi Coast. OMG, mind blowing beauty! Get there if you can.

RL - I was watching a news piece on the Nevada shootings.  What manner of low-life.  Despicable worthless coward.

    Layne Lathram's photo.

Remembering our dearly beloved KonaKat today.  Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and miss her terribly.

    Layne Lathram's photo.

Cake and beaches and cabana boys.  Hope she is lifting a glass to us while she is petting Chloe and Ursula.

    Layne Lathram's photo.

    Miss you, my friend.

Ah Konakat - have those pictures in front of me on the bulletin board by my computer.  Miss her sense of humour and story telling ability - she was one of a kind.

The past couple of days should remind us how powerful the written word is.  One should always think before pressing the submit button.

Now that we are all chilling again, let's have cake and ice cream in memory of Konakat.  And where is our bartender?

Ah...the bar is open.  A light and fruity drink for me to celebrate summers approach.  Red velvet cake with Irish cream ice cream to go with that please.  And that should take care of my sugar intake for the rest of the year!

There will be a handsome tip for you barkeep.

Speaking of Italy.  My home town, Scilla.  From the Odyssey, Scylla and Charybdis!

    Beautiful, Blue!

This morning I'm sending thanks and gratitude into the void for my very significant other, who has taken on some of my burdens to lighten my load.

Moving day for DD so we are up and ready. I  going to need a holiday when I get home.

How much longer Alyson?   I'm sorry I missed the get together for you but it was just too far away.    You got to meet some great BCO girls though.

Makes me want to go to Italy.  Very pretty and nice to see today which  is starting out with rain from yesterday late afternoon....and went all night.  In forecast next several days.  Strange summer so far, but I've come to expect things to be 'different' a lot of the time.
