Adagio, happy birthday to you, friend! Hope you get spoilt a little today?! Hugs to you re your sister. Losing loved ones is so hard, but we are still here and we have to soldier on.

Unfortunately I did not see the post with Nihahi's suggestion in time, but what a good idea! At eight this morning DH and I were on the lake. He took his first ski of the season, and lo and behold, got up on the first try. It was beautiful, peaceful and serene on the water with the sun shining warm and bright. Lovely.

    Have a nice day, everybody!

    Hi everyone

I was not able to take the time and physically reach out at 0900 as I was in a meeting but I was with you all in spirit, what a wonderful idea to do that, Nihahi - I hope we can arrange to do it again on a regular basis

Liefie - I'm glad you are back home and can take some time to process everything. Sounds like a wonderful way to spend this morning

Edi - you make such gorgeous cakes! I am in awe. Hope you are feeling better today with all that positive energy flowing around you

Nihahi - I am amazed at how perceptive you are and how you know exactly what to say to all of us

Adagio - sending hugs and wishing you a very Happy Birthday

Momof2 - you did a wonderful job on the drapery - what a talented seamstress!

Work has definitely taken a front and center role in my life since I've been back from vacation. The timing of my upcoming surgery isn't the best for what is going on at work and planned for the fall but I have decided that there will always be something and that I have sacrificed enough for them, this one will be for me, not because I have to but because I want to and it will hopefully help to bring some closure for me. Now all I need to do is get through the mammogram on Monday afternoon

Looking for updates from all that are recovering from surgery or in treatment - how is everything going for you?

    Take care everyone

I think setting a regular time/day is a wonderful idea, websister!!!!

Anyone want to suggest what works best for them, I'm sure we can find a common "target".....Doesn't have to be a big production....just a few minutes of time that we pause, take a breath and share a silent message of support, strength, understanding and healing to each other.

Count me in...I missed this morning's date.......it is a lovely idea, Nihahi!

I am enjoying my week away from all things "mother" ( I know you take no offense to my saying this, Liefie), and have been enjoying my time with my oldest DD, who JUST booked the lead in an independent film titled "Saturn Returns"..... I would love it if you would check out the movie's website ....

    www.saturnreturns.net

There is information about the movie's plot, and photos of all the characters.....in movie-speak, Erin is  #1 on the call sheet......the movie is about her character, Sienna.  I read the script, and it is a surprisingly GOOD story!

Edi, glad you are doing at least okay, and that cake is stunning! You are VERY talented!

Jenifer, I enjoyed the photos of the interior of Keiko Cottage....if I ever get loose again, I will message you ....

Liefie, I am glad you found some peace amidst the craziness of an early-morning water-ski session......the lake IS incredibly beautiful.  You are very blessed!

Nihahi , LOVE your photos ...... You could do that professionally!

To those I haven't mentioned, know that there is not a day that goes by that my thoughts don't turn to each of you.......so grateful for the love and support that is found on this thread!

    XO

I was out there this morning at 8…of course I brought my coffee and agates, but forgot the kleenex….I am so silly…I cry at everything, whether joyous or sad. The morning mist was coming off the ocean and there was no one around….we must do this again. And TODAY, for the first time my shoulder has not given me fits.

Liefie…congratulations to your DH with skiing. I most definitely do not have arm strength for water skiing.

    Adagio…Oh, Happy Birthday to you!!!

Movie…that is just wonderful about your daughter's role. Since we do not subscribe to any cable, I definitely will check out the website tonight. I really would love to see you this summer. I totally understand the stress of caregiving, and also the need to care for yourself.

Websister… yes, you do it for YOU. You will be in my thoughts during that mammogram,Monday.

To all on this thread, I hope today was a day of comfort as you continue to heal and go forward with your treatment.

    Hugs,

    Jenifer

    Dear bennymuffins,

I'm extremely sorry that you are here but I have to say you are among friends, you will find lots of support here....it is a huge shock when you first get diagnosed.  Your feelings of fear and uncertainty are validated..it is a scary journey but take comfort that you have a lot of support around you and treatment options have come a long way. I myself got a bit of a shock today and I was reminded of how scary it can all feel so I'm with you Benny...in spirit. I wish you the very best outcome with your treatments. Welcome to BCO...it is a bitter sweet welcome.

Betty that's kind, but just thought I'd point out that Benny started this thread in August 2012. :)

Guys I missed the morning communion thing. I was unable to access this thread for some reason after my last post. Every time o tried, it kept taking me to the beginning of the thread!

Anyway, nothing to report really except my lymphedema seems to be settling down! (Ahhh, don't say that too loud!) I've been experimenting with leaving first my glove, and then my sleevee off as well, and so far so minimal! I put them on for dragon boating twice a week, or any weighty stuff. Maybe its the dragonboating that is helping!??

Anyway, its been great in this warmer weather :)

    Thinking of you all xxxxx

Yes, Morwenna, if you went to Tofino, you drove right along the lake on the way there. Summer of 2012 . . . I was just finishing my treatments, and weak as a baby. Happy to hear your lymphedema is getting better. It is wise to keep the sleeve on for heavy activities, or when you fly. I don't have lymphedema, but never fly without the sleeve. Not pleasant when flying two long flights to S.A., but better safe than sorry, eh?

Have been in bed for the last three days with a very sore back. It is slowly getting better, and I can move a little thanks to pain pills and muscle relaxants. Poor DH had to cook, and serve me in bed since I could not even stand up on my legs. My own fault because I did not go to stretch yoga regularly these last few months. This happened all the time before I started yoga in 2011, so will get back to it as soon as I can. Will slowly creep down the stairs, and try to cook something for tonight. He came home from the ER at 3.00 am this morning, and really deserves a rest.

Oh Liefie…so sorry to hear about your back. I have had episodes … and I seem to be overdue for one. Muscle relaxants and pain pills and ibuprofen seem to be the usual treatment. Please allow DH to care for you. You have been through a lot of stress and I am certain that has played a role. Hope you feel better very soon.

DH, the dogs, and I walked to and from "town" yesterday. Then went grocery shopping in the big city of Newport, OR. during the ride home my shoulder started its thing and I just had to take 2 percocet and go to bed. I just do not know if this tired feeling is normal or if something else is going on. I just do not remember getting so exhausted in previous years visiting Oregon. I really am only 4 months out from chemo; will that continue to linger on? or is this the new "normal"? Now that the wedding is over and I made it to OR I feel like I should be feeling better. There are many things I would like to do, but I can just "give out" suddenly and have to rest.

Well, the roofer is banging over my head today. The other 2 workers are MIA. This cottage is a long work in progress, but I really love it here. The doggies are happy to here with the cool weather and no biting insects.

Hope all my fellow warriors are doing well….Mags, let us hear how you are doing!

    Love to all,

    Jenifer

Jenifer, Nihahi also suggested that the recent stress may have played a role, and I agree. Will be gentle with myself, I promise. Fortunately a very quiet weekend ahead after many busy ones - yay!

As for feeling tired and suddenly 'giving out', this is normal for where you are now. I experienced exactly the same thing where I would suddenly just run out of steam, and would have to sit down or lie down to catch my breath. For me it lasted until October/November 2013 after my last chemo in May 2012, so more or less 18 months. In May 2013 I had the DIEP flap surgery to recover from as well. All this time I was regularly walking, doing yoga, and doing strength training in the gym. I don't experience this fatique any more, thank the Lord. So be patient, keep on walking, and accept that it will take time to get over the fatique. You've also been building up to the wedding with lots of excitement, lots to do, lots to look forward to, and now it's over . . . suddenly there's nothing there, if you understand what I mean. Just go with the flow, and do what you can. You've been through a lot, and it will take its own time regardless. You have way more energy that I had at the time sewing all those things for the wedding and for your cottage. I ended up paying someone to sew the table-runners, because I just did not have the strength to do it. One day you will just realize that you feel like your old self again. It is a very good feeling. All the best to you, and enjoy your time in Oregon!

liefie - hope your back is feeling better soon. Isn't it interesting just how much our bodies need the movement and how if we miss out on our yoga/exercise/walks etc - that our bodies let us know. Take it easy for a few days and then hopefully you can get back to your yoga.

Momof2 - sorry that your shoulder is bothering you - I can so identify with shoulder pain since I am just at the recovery phase after suffering from a frozen shoulder and the pain is excruciating!! Now I can so empathize with people with sore shoulders and arms - it is so debilitating, and personally I found that it got me feeling very down. In terms of energy returning after treatments  -  I have read that it takes up to 2 years after the end of treatments to get full energy back.   I am just over 1 year post treatments, and. I still take the odd nap in the afternoons, some days  I think I am all back to normal, then other days I feel I need more rest. You are still in early days and maybe you need to allow your  body more time to recuperate - particularly after the stress of a wedding and all. Good luck with the renovations at your cottage, and enjoy that wonderful ocean!

Will be in your pocket, websister

Yes, I am taking it easier…The roofer worked today and he should finish tomorrow. Will be talking with the painter and finializing the paint colors. I was leaning toward tan with white trim and turquoise accent…but if anyone has seen a cottage they like, I am open for suggestions.

Nihahi…I am looking for you to officially organize the next universal time together.

    Edi…I miss you!

Adagio…I am going to the post office tomorrow…hopefully the package will not take forever to arrive

Liefie…sounds like you had a doozy of a back spasm. I know you will be easy on yourself. Hope your DH is continuing to give you TLC. Hope this next week will give you the rest you need for healing.

Mo…hope you are doing well, I remember how you felt after the Hawaii trip and winning the competition. I think I am having a little of that…the wedding came an went in a flash…then I made it to Oregon. I am very thankful to have been able to both. I think I will just rest and not feel guilty about it

To all that I didi not mention, you are in my thoughts. Cheers to a good upcoming week for all!

    Love,

    Jenifer

    I'm doing great thanks, Jenifer!

I'm enjoying dragonboating, and singing. Just starting out with a new quartet, as well as the chorus. We're just getting started revising Christmas music in the chorus! I'm looking forward to Canada Day, July 1st, when we are singing at Heritage Park, if anyone wants to come see us! We sing for the new Canadians at their citizenship ceremony, which always brings a lump to my throat, and usually another performance near the Hotel.

DS1 has his graduation ceremony Tuesday, and applied for 7 jobs this week! DS2 is enjoying his new g/f, and working a summer job at the animal hospital, doing a sort of internship.

Work is no great dramas. Fatigue is not really an issue, and I'm sleeping better, generally. Bout time I got to bed, thinking about it! :)

    Life is good! xxxx

Thanks for the pocket party, ladies! Really needed it today - too close in dates to two years ago - mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy.

I had the mammogram, they did a digital as well as two high magnification views on the left, then asked me to go back to the dressing area and wait. Then they came and took me over to the ultrasound waiting area and asked me to bring my clothes with me. Hadn't expected an ultrasound today and didn't realize just how traumatic it all was for me two years ago until they decided to do one today. The feelings all came back ten times over! They did the right chest wall and axilla and the left breast and axilla. When the U/S was done the tech told me the radiologist would be in touch with my doctor and let me go. Not sure I really breathed until then. So glad to be out of there. So glad you were all with me. Morwenna, please pass the peanuts ;)

    Take care everyone

Edi - I love peonies - they are such big flowers, but oh so fragile and they don't last long at all! Glad you are getting things checked out with your doctor.  Good luck with the fondant stiletto!!!

Websister - how awful for you to have those yucky feelings from 2 years ago flood over you today when you had the ultrasound. Sure hope all turns out well for you - it is so difficult not to worry, isn't it?

Morwenna - sounds like you are really enjoying life right now - so happy for you.

Liefie - glad you are starting to move a bit - take it real easy.

Nihahi - you must be enjoying some good hikes these days - great weather for it too.

To everyone else - have a good week and hopefully the sun is shining for you all - the colours are just so beautiful right now that I have a hard time being inside , I just want to be outside all the time. Lots of gardening getting done - yeah!!

Well, I guess I have some news!

This morning I decided to call my PS office to see if his nurse could give me a rough idea of how long til my surgery. Just to make planning easier, not that I'm in a particular rush.

To my surprise, she gave me a date!!: December 16, conditional on being able to coordinate with the other necessary surgeon/s!

    So there we are! :o

    liefie...glad you're getting better...gentle steps, and you'll get there!

adagio....rainy season here....got pretty dang wet on a hike today! But...edi's peonies are lovely, aren't they!

edi..sending hugs kiddo.....are you still riding that bike??? Glad to hear some tests are being done, hope they settle your fears a bit.

    Hi 😎

Lunch time here, ryvita and cheese being devoured. Just back from A and E after four hours with ED, she rang in tears this morning, severe chest pains and she had collapsed last in night. She was all ready for work when pains started again.😞 I collected her and off we went. Fabulous hospital but parking the pits 😱 Finally got in there and they were amazing many tests later heart ruled out they have sent her home with pain relief and she needs to see her GP again. This has gone on for about nine years and she is giving up.

Nihahi, haven't the energy to peddle. Sun out so may do a walk. Stiletto almost done 😀

Have a lovely day everyone xxx
