Happy Mother's Day !!!!!
-
Hi ,
Happy Mothers Day to all of you across the pond and other parts of the world.
Hope you have all been spoilt rotten.
Love you all.X
-
Happy Mother's Day to all of you. Hope somebody spoils you today! Somewhat of a sad day for me. My mom is still alive, but is oblivious to everything, and we cannot communicate any more. She was the best mother anyone could hope for, and I love her so very much.
-
Oh Liefie!
My mum's funeral was last Tuesday, and apparently it was a beautiful sunny day. There was a private cremation with the family and then a Thanksgiving service at the village church, which apparently was full. I drew up the order of services for both, and all feedback has been so positive!
There was a lighter moment at the church when the organist played the wrong hymn. Apparently some people tried to fit the words "Lord of all Hopefulness" into the tune "Guide me O thy great Redeemer"!!

Last weekend I was competing with my chorus on Vancouver, and we won our division (AA-mid-sized chorus), and came 2nd overall. The winners of each region (about 30 worldwide) go through to International next year, and the top ten runners-up, which looks like we are in!! Las Vegas, here we come!!!

First and second place medals

My beautiful mother. Happy Mother's Day xxx

Morwenna, big hugs to you on this Mother's day. That English village church is so picturesque, and I can soooo identify with the organist playing the wrong hymn - on occasion I have started off in the wrong key, and had everybody 'reach' way higher than they normally would - lol - but as you say, it makes a sad moment lighter, and a sense of humour is so essential for our well-being. God gave us humour after all. Congrats on your chorus wins - I'd love to hear you sing!
-
what's the significance of the Bluebird avatar? I notice several people are using it ..... Did I miss something? *puzzled*
-
HI all....
Morwenna....the bluebird is from another thread. A fellow "flap" sister had progression to brain mets, and many ladies changed their avatar to a bluebird in support (her screen name was bluebird).
Sounds like you are back in the swing of things....congrats on the choir. Lovely message and photos....thanks for sharing.
Good lord....sunshine TWO DAYS IN A ROW!!!! How will we ever survive.....oh, I know.....I'm going golfing . One of these times I'll actually hit the silly little ball!
Have great days, everyone.
-
Dear Nihahi, I sincerely hope that the snow is over now for the season. Flesh and blood can take only so much . . . The kids in Calgary are also sick of snow - lol.
-
morwenna, thanks for posting the pic of your beautiful mother, and the church photo is lovely, just lovely. I can feel the grass and I pretend I am sitting in it gazing over at the horse. How are you doing?
-
lovely pictures, Morwenna - congratulations on your win, internationals sounds very exciting - is that what you were competing in Hawaii for last fall?
Seasonal temperatures here this week - yay!
Hope you enjoyed golfing, Nihani

It is with sadness that I have to tell you that my mom passed away a few hours ago. For her it is the end a four year struggle with brain cancer that took her away from us little by little, and which left her helpless, totally dependent, and bedridden for the last few months of her life. She did not know anybody anymore, and could not speak anymore. I will miss her, but she is so much better off now. She was 83 years old, and I had her for 59 years, which is longer than many people have their parents. She had been an amazing, wonderful mother to the four of us, and a wife that my father always admired and adored. What a privilege to have been her daughter.
-
liefie......my sympathies to you and your family. Such a sadness to lose a beloved parent, no matter how much "relief" accompanies the time. I'm sure you were much loved by her, and her love will always be with you. Hugs...((((((X)))))).
-
Liefie, Such sad news, I will pray for her.Sorry that her life ended in suffering but now she is at peace.
((( hugs ))) to you dear friend. X
-
liefie
So sorry to hear about your mom... No words can express my sympathies enough. God bless
-
Liefie, I'm taking your hand as we walk this path together xxxx
-

Hi my wonderful sisters, wish you could join me here. We could have a tea/coffee and cookies and talk about our wonderful Mom's.
-
liefie - just read your very sad news! My warmest thoughts and prayers are with you and your family - this must be a very difficult time for you. Even when death is expected, it always comes as a shock and is truly a painful process to walk through. May god give you strength and courage in the days ahead. Cherish the many memories of your Mom and hold them in your heart! Hugs!!

Hi ladies,
Well I met with my plastics surgeon today, and signed a consent form to go on the list for prophylactic right Mx and bilateral flap reconstruction. Gulp.
He seemed a little daunted by my history of clotting issues though, and feels my chance of failure might be higher than normal because of this. He couldn't give me a percentage really though. He is going to talk to my hematologist. I'm a little downhearted about it again now.
-
hugs, mo......It's a good thing that your PS didn't just blow off the clotting concern, because it is REAL, but he also didn't say it was a deal breaker did he??? It's good medical practice for him to communicate with your hematologist...right!!! Did you get any timeline estimates for a date?
I'm no expert, and I appreciate the differences in our "scenarios"....but.....remember, I'm here and am happy to be a sounding board for you, as someone who's been through the flap journey.
-
No, I asked him about a guesstimate re timing, and he said that his sec would have a better idea as she does all his bookings for him. I know that he likes to have people wait for no longer than a year though, and he tends to close his waiting list if it gets unwieldy. He does have to speak with hemo man though, and also arrange with another surgeon to do the mastectomy, both of which might add to the timeline.
I'm not in a desperate rush though. I wasn't thinking it was going to be this year ......

Liefie
Just signed on and read about your dear mom - so sorry for your loss, sending big hugs. Love the spot that Edi has provided for us to sit and share about our mothers, thank yu Edi.
Mo, progress - one step closer, signing the consent must have seemed a little surreal. I will see what my PS has to say on the 30th.
I will be off the boards for a bit over a week, ladies, I am off to Mexico to join my DH there for a week, hope to get lots of r and r
Take care everyone
-
Liefie, I was very sorry to read about the passing of your dear mother, and wanted to express my sincere sympathy to you. May you keep your fond memories of her close to your heart over the coming days.
Websister, hope you have a wonderful, relaxing time in Mexico.
-
liefie, glad I checked back here after a long absence. Sorry to hear about your loss but your words were wonderful. As you know, I lost my mom the day after we met at our meet up on October and thought not easy, sometimes it is a blessing too.
-
Hi

Liefie, thinking of you ((( hugs ))) sure your mind is full of memories and they will never leave you.You will be able to tell little Em all about your Mom as she grows. My GD's love to hear about my Mum and the things that happened when I was little. She may never have met them but I see flashes of her in them as time goes by.
Websister, have plenty of r and r, you deserve it.
Nihahi, I am still cycling, 8 kms a day now with a higher resistance on the bike.acquired a yogapilates DVD too.Feeling less knackered and also did loads of yard work as sun was shining.Hope you are well ?
Morwenna, sure your next procedure will be here and over before you know it.Can't believe how much choir lifts my spirits.Yours is doing so well, wow !!
Start my training for Headstrong next week and really looking forward to it.Will only be doing once a fortnight helping out but will give me a reason to move forward.
love to all x
-

Try to sit out here for a while each day while sun shines. Vitamin D needed.
-
edi.....such great "news" from you. I've been wondering how the bike riding has been going, but didn't want to be a nag (well.....not TOO much of a nag)! You have made incredible progress, I sure hope you are proud....you should be!!!! You'll be great with the Headstrong program...but I admit...I thought you had started already.
Your garden photos are lovely...this time of year, is when I miss mine the most, but, I get enjoyment watching other people's gardens progress through the year now. Leaves me more time for other things, at this stage of life.
Gotta dash.....hugs to all.
-
To each of you, thanks for the kind words, and your condolences. Your support means so much to me, and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. I am in Cape Town with my family, and we are having a wonderful and meaningful time together - my mom would have loved it. There is an empty space in the place where my mother had been all my life, and it is hard to wrap my mind around that, but her suffering is over, and that is the most important. Best wishes to all of you.
-
Happy Long Weekend Monday to my Canuck buddies.
