Pip - she knows what's going on.

And the rest of us will be called "intolerant" by the haters. What a joke.
-
Who gives a crap what they "think," Kam? Here's the thing - Tolerating intolerance isn't tolerance. It is complicity. I will not be complicit in their intolerance and hatred by not calling them out.
ETA: Qualified with However, I won't go to the pigsty. They are beyond any reasoning. But if someone comes here and craps in my house, I will use a rolled-up newspaper.
-
Well, gosh, I have to admit that I AM becoming increasingly intolerant of willful ignorance, rank hypocrisy, and perhaps, most of all, the laziness of the media in not doing their research and thus letting politicians get away with lying, time after time after time.
We're all entitled to our own beliefs and our own opinions. But, as others have said, we are NOT entitled to our own facts.
-
In spite of the hatred, the stupid and the crazy, there are some good things happening. On Friday, a Federal judge struck down Wisconsin's same-sex marriage ban:
-
I dont eat KOSHER pickles. I want a plain old ordinary DILL pickle, like the good old days. I eat other kosher stuff, though.
-
RL- I would like to embarrass them because I honestly think they are trying to hide their bigotry by making crap up. We know what this Obama hate is about, but they behind things as stupid as him chewing gum. Several of you got to the bottom of this Halel thing. We can never engage (like we just did here), but same person went over there and she got treated with "we were not being tolerant of her." That should be embarrassing for them to say that. Intolerance? Yes, they used that specific word.
There should be a shame factor for being a bigot. I think they do feel shame about it, but not until they feel exposed. If we have to have bigots and racists in this world, I would rather have them feel the scourge than pretend like they aren't any of those things. They will eventually grow old and die, but in the meantime, I think we have to make examples of them or it just gets carried on, generation to generation.

Suzie - did you see the part where the manufacturer specifically said "we have a choice here" [to certify]. So why did you make it out that somebody was forcing somebody. I'm sorry, but you did that to make your bigoted point.
-
Oh, Kam - you are applying logic and conscience to people who have neither. They aren't embarrassed. They aren't capable of it. To be embarrassed, they have to be capable of feeling shame. To feel shame, they have to know they are wrong. They don't. They believe they are right. You can't teach a pig to sing - it won't work and it will annoy the pig. The same logic applies here - you can't tell members of hate organizations (pick any one from the SPLC's list) that they are terrible people and should be ashamed, because they will just flip you off. You don't need to expose them - they have exposed themselves and they are PROUD of their hatred! They wear it like a badge of honor!
I'm not just being cute when I say I don't visit sewers because I know rats and poo are there. I have no interest in the chittering of rats or wafts of sewer gas, because that is how offensive it is. You will never change them. You won't even make a dent. They will still be hateful, still complain that we don't embrace their hate. Several of us on this thread have had two election cycles to deal with this ... we ignore it. You won't change it, you won't make it any better, and you won't make them ashamed of being hateful. They like the way they are. Fortunately, the world is changing enough so that many of their children have moved away from the hate. That is how it works. It is getting better. Just leave that over there alone and use the block button. It is much nicer and we can continue to talk among ourselves.
Of course, you will do what you have to do for yourself ... but that is what I did and it is much, much better. Otherwise I would not be here.
-
I've stopped responding to religious prejudice and full fledged bigotry. I've got better things to do than to answer someone who is spouting hate. I've seen what irrational hate of the "other" can do. Blue, put up some pictures. I'm done here.

I know they won't change, but they do often complain that they are NOT racists (and bigots). LOL - I heard someone say the other day, the "new racism" is not knowing you're a racist. Maybe they don't even know what racism is - if I were to give them any benefit of the doubt, at all, which I don't. I think they know they are racists and bigots, but they are too ashamed
to admit it.to be exposed. As I said, I'm particularly impatient today. I think this whole Bergdahl thing has reached the height of Obama hatred. I thought nothing could top Cliven Bundy or Max Cleland (wow, that was reaching back), but the pretzel twisting of withdrawing "thoughts and prayers" tweeted out to the Bergdahl family over the weekend (hours later) once GOP marching orders were given, then defying every supposed principle of the GOP, like honoring our soldiers, or innocent before proven guilty (we know that really never has been one of their sacred principles, but they often cite the Constitution, and I need someone smarter than me to connect those two things), and now this twisting of Halel certification to justify and backtrack on accidentally saying one's true feelings "I hate Muslims," they need to be shamed, ashamed, flogged, exposed.....I do hate something - racism and bigotry.
-
Yes Kam - but the other article pointed out how much business the chicken producer lost because they did not certify. The point is that there is a lot of pressure here.
Edited to add - I don't go around picking food that is not halal certified, but I resent that a lot of the food I want to buy is certified when there is absolutely no reason for it to be.
-
-
Suzie - just admit it. You hate Muslims and be done with it. I can handle that. Wait, you already did.
-
Suzie, there is a reason.....SOMEONE found it profitable.

It's call free market.

They do know they are racists and bigots. They just deny that they are until one day they blurt it out by accident. They know.
Oh, I am impatient and angry and disgusted with the overwhelming tide of Obama Derangement Syndrome surrounding the Bergdahl family. Again, it all comes down to hating the black man so much that they wanted to leave a soldier to die! Square that with being a good Christian and a patriotic American. I love the breathless judgments, too -- hey, doesn't their Bible say something about not judging? Hmmmm.
The teahadists will do anything and say anything to attempt to discredit the President. Can you imagine - wanting a soldier to be killed by the Taliban just so President Obama couldn't claim a victory. Rethuglican moral bankruptcy at its finest.
We don't need to expose them, Kam. They expose themselves, with every hate-filled word. They are a minority, don't forget - and they are shrinking rapidly. Calling them out here won't make them go away. Just engage the block button - being ignored makes them really angry and is quite satisfying in the end.
-
-
One last question for Suzie. Once Australia is "free" of halal, will kosher be next? That must certified and adds to the final cost of items. -
Suzie, well of course they didn't do as much business. Dah! If I only sold bees wax candles and you wanted soy candles.....I would lose your business.
It's called freedom. Freedom to sell what you want. Freedom to buy what you want. Oh yeah...it's known as supply and demand. I thought that is what republicans were all about.
Good night Lucy.
-
Hmm, just thinking how happy I've been once I quit denying my own freedom by using my BLOCK button. I do see so many as a HUGE minority -- or perhaps said a bit strong, but sanctimonious creepy people who have in my humble opinion nowhere to go but down. Hard to believe those who make sure to let it be known about their Christianity too....they are selling themselves into perdition to get at the black man. Or perhaps....they have chosen to not believe perdition is a Christian term. Hmmm, they probably outlawed it some time ago so they don't have to worry about their souls. I doubt they ever worry about themselves over much of anything.
In any case......I use that magic button because when I listen to someone......I need to feel they have some credibility as well as love for their fellow travelers on this Earth. If I want cold and calculating.....I can get that right here at home face to face with my leaning way over to the right family. I don't need it from people that have far too much negativity so I just use a little button and they go pouf and are lost and gone in the entirety.
Then I can go enjoy some fantastic and delightful Samson pictures and some good graphics and listen to people I have respect for and care a whole lot about. I can hear about a little guy named Quinn and his sister Emma and see Wendel and other wonderful souls who are a view of perfection in a maddening world. Sanity savers of the best kind.
