Smarrty oh thank you love the Unicorn and the thought :)

Chevy-- the chair story: In Oct. I took a metal bentwood style  rocker to Tampa for electroplating. Haven't gotten it back. Paid money to electroplater and upholsterer. No chair.

FBB, The look and the tilt- precede the cruelty.  Seen and heard it before. Always aghast. I'm the same way when it's happened to me. Speechless. I think we are speechless at the time b/c our minds are in shock at someone being intentionally cruel.

    YAY-for cleaning ladies YAY!!!!!!!!!

Smarrty------what a seamstress. I can, basically, sew a straight line and have access to a ripper :)

Maddy try that phrase with the insurance problem.  "I would like to escalate this" see what happens? I did have a similar problem with Bank of America. The contact person "escalated it". I was contacted by a representative of the De-Escalation Team. May be it's a wide spread business practice

OMG!  I remember that!  I had commented on our black rod-iron fence, that had been sprayed with "acid".... then rinsed, and then put a clear-coat on it!  It came out beautiful....  "Old" looking!

Don't know if that is the same process, but I just love it...  It's a "rusty, bronze, black fence now...!"

Chevy, yes, a number of people commented on bad experiences. Now we know what to do with probably allot of  businesses. Cool

if you guys remember my GS lives with me, 25 under our insurance. Got hurt last Father's Day. What worked for me with the last request from the state disability was "next call will be to a state senator"!  They called me in 10 minutes. He got his money the next day. Our state has been having a really bad time with their computer system that runs unemployment and disability.  The system still isn't fixed, I know a new form has been received but I can't see the info.  And of course no new money. I'll give it until next week then contact them again.

He has chronic nerve pain syndrome. Hurts like fire 24/7 since the last 7-8 months now. He's tried different treatments but nothing has worked so far. He wants them to remove the leg, above the knee. He knows the risks but he's got no life now. He stays in his room or the garage. Can't go outside if it's the least bit of wind. Hasn't showered in about 3-4 months now. The tiniest bit of Water hurts too much. He's going to be part of the wedding party on Saturday. He's been holding on for that. Afterwards all bets are off. He sees a shrink on Tuesday. So far the ortho guy says it too early to remove his leg, won't even see him!   He sees his GF get around just fine and does what he wants so he's ok with amputation.

He just needs to convince the docs that this is his choice.

2nd, how's the fires down there? Are you close?

Smarrty, You've talked of DGS before.  Where in the food chain has he consulted with--local, state, national? Very familiar with CNPS. What has been done? Have we had this discussion?

Usual practice now is big name pain doc referrals. Escalating from local >regional centers. Nationally, the first thought is the military.

So, many medical and surgical breakthroughs have occurred b/c of military response to help the injured soldier. Regretfully, allot of these breakthroughs have occurred b/c of war. A bit of an irony :(

I'm on hold yet again with another rep from the State. At least she said "let's escalate this" before I had to . Soo frustrating! Paid for insurance when we signed up, paid last month and no coverage. They wouldn't let us put DD (who's 20) on out policy and hers is all messed up. Read info on Affordable Care Act and Covered CA (California's part in this whole mess). This rep wants to get it all cleared up TODAY.

Smaarty, I am so very sorry about your son. This isn't right, he's young and should be living a happy life. I don't understand our society and government

    ** WARNING: Rant ahead!

Why does this f-ing government pay for illegal aliens when we can't take care of our own? We can't afford to system DD to college, she's working 2 jobs to pay for it! And, your son too? WTH?

(I know, I've gone and done it, the Mods will be all over me after this)

About the fires, it's eerily hazy here. The fires are about 60-80 miles of me. But, as I've said before there are others on this thread (and lurking) who ARE impacted more than us. Hate to admit, but I'm in Blessings world, still in pj's dealing with insurance so haven't been outdoors (except the back yard). The wind is really picking up again, though, that's not good

Maddy, When I was on STFU, we did a survey about our furbabies alerting that something was up. It was sometime last June. Remarkable how many had their furbabies alert them. Cami was one. I'll see if I can find link.

    1) Asparagus make your pee smell strange

    2) Today is the two year anniversary of my diagnosis; things looked pretty grim then.. kind of amazing, I think I was in denial for a long time. Today's also 4 and a half months completely smoke free, Yay for me!

    3) I was out playing in the dirt yesterday and I was thinking especially of FBB and Sassypants. I was thinking about FBB because I hate it that her tests weren't good, and I know she's got to be scared and so I was thinking about her.  And I was thinking about Sassy because she's had a lot going on and I think she doesn't say all that much about her own hard stuff, but all of this thyroid stuff on top of everything else? Anyway, as I was digging, I found two lucky horseshoes in two completely different areas - one for Sassy and one for FBB.

    4) Love you all. Kiss those PITA kids of yours - it'll drive them crazy.

I think the last time I said anything about grandson was before treatments. We have Kaiser, not going to send him elsewhere. He had 3 days of Ketamine treatments, then he's had a spinal block on the upper back. Didn't do any good. That was in march and April. Nothing since. Started with a new PCP, since his first one said he could get a desk job back in December. So he's holding.  One doc wants to try a spinal stimulator, nick says no way. He tried a tent machine back last year which didn't do any good. So don't know what really next until the shrink appt.

I think it's time to apply to SS and see what benefits he can get. Will start that next week.

Oh, ziggypoo. I appreciate the horseshoe. Make sure it stays u side up so the luck stays "in".   So sick of these doctors and tests. Now they want to do a lung biopsy.

And about the asparagus pee, only about 25% of the population can smell asparagus pee. The rest don't have the gene to be able to smell it. Lucky them!

So it's not that their pee doesn't stink, they just can't smell it.

    Fact of the day.

Congrats on your anniversary and playing in the dirt.

    Chevy,

You asked about Annie Mae's reason to remove here eyes. She developed diabetes and she lost her eyesight from the diabetes. I had to put a series of eye drops into both eyes to keep them moist, and keep the pressure down. But because of her diabetes the pressure in both eyes continued to rise and she was in pain. The only way to stop the pain is to remove both of her eyes. She is a small dog with the sweetest eyes. Many dogs have this procedure. They adapt well, it's us humans that have problems getting used to looking at a dog with no eyes. The eye surgery was cancelled today. The vet lives in the area of one of the wildfires (Carlsbad), so I really hope she is ok, and her house didn't burn. There have been 10 fires in the San Diego area, people and animals evacuated. Hope the dry hot windy days end soon. Send us some of your cool weather.

haha...that is truly interesting about the asparagues pee gene! I have it too because I can smell the weirdness :)

Went today for an iron infusion and I had a reaction too FBB. I ended up shooting up a tempature, right before infusion I was cold wrapped in a blanket and sweater. Soon after the infusion started I had to pull the blanket and sweater off and I felt like I was going to start sweating. Nursed checked my temp and it was 99.9, they slowed the drip and it kept creeping up. So, long story short, I didn't finish the infusion. The steroid they gave me did perk me up though, now I'm wondering if I'll be able to sleep.

Ziggy-cool story about the horseshoes and your anniversary.

I didn't read back all the way, I'm sorry. Love to all of you though ((hugs))

Susan, that pic does make me smile...

Lilziggypopshit ! CONGRATULATIONS on your smoke free accomplishment ! Keep digging, we all need a lucky horseshoe. Also your 2 year mark, I am so looking forward to having that perspective. Not there yet, but I realize everyday how lucky I am, how many have a much more difficult dx.

Tangarang, what next ? You have had the worst fu€king luck with your treatments. I will be so happy to celebrate with you when chemo is over..I wish you could catch a break....you certainly deserve one.

I thought everyone could  smell asparagus pee? I love asparagus. Buy it fresh year round, thanks to Costco.

Cannot remember what else to comment on...chemo head...& it's late...

Smaarty, that bra is fantastic, I want to go bra less, wear a simple camisole, real bras  are no longer comfy. Well my old jog bras are. They are not flattering. I think I need to shop more, try a big city store.

Maybe getting my port out a week from tomorrow.

    Hugs to all.....happy Friday soon....

Chevy, you are so funny! I love the images you find! -petechia is basically tiny little spots of blood under your skin. mine are pin points, but i have thousands of them now all over me. it is freaky. -I was finally able to open the step up site, i think it was just having issues yesterday.

PawPrint- sorry to hear about your iron. that is no fun at all.- I hope they can get the fires under control soon, and you are not in the path of any of them. -I will keep your pup in my thoughts. I know she will feel better after the surgery.

Susan- you might see if you can download Stickies, or use your Notes on your iPad. You *should* be able to have them open and still use your browser. - Let those barn doors open!

FBB- I am so going to get some of those LymphaDivas sleeves before my vacation. They are so fun! Tell that unicorn to giddyup and trample that rude doctor! ;) Thinking about you all the time and sending good juju.

Smaarty, that bra is awesome! You have serious skills! Please feel free to share my photos with your friend. Let her know that it feels so good to have done. Very cooling, and soothing. You do need to research your henna artist though, and make sure they use real henna, not black henna which is toxic garbage they sell online. If she decides to get it, the artist should be making their own. - So sorry to hear about your GS. that sounds just terrible.

Nettie- haha! the coffee/wine pic- so true! Hope you are feeling good today.

Cami- you are so sweet <3 I agree that you said exactly what we all feel.

Sas- thanks for the info on needymeds! Glad you are getting your insurance issues worked out.

2nd- LOl- my cats all do that! I had super straight hair too, and now it is all curly and dark. I love it. Take some pics if you can! and - omg- I think everyone can relate to the phone support language issue. There are few things as annoying as not being able to communicate your issue and get some help. You stay out of those fires too!

Ziggy- *Asparagus peeeeee*- to the tune of Beethoven's 5th. I hear it every time i eat asparagus. - Congratulations on your anniversary and not smoking! that is awesome!

Tang- boooo to fevers! I hope you are feeling a little better now.

oh- almost forgot TBT- here it is:

    O.K.
I was totally freaking out. This thread told me I had 50 UNREAD POSTS!!!!

    Tangandchris
    – when we got our RV, I was totally shocked by the whole concept of “dump
station”… but then I had this epiphany – what we go through with BC is kind of
like the “black water tank” in an RV. You have to dump out the contents
periodically, or it overflows with chit! So…. For lack of a better term, in addition to
this thread being our safe haven, our soft landing, our sisterhood, our
motivational seminar, our Comedy Central, and all other things… it is also our
Dump Station. Not a one of us has not
needed it at one time or another. So dump away whenever you need it!

    JWoo
Ohmygosh – your head is totally awesome!!! A real work of art! I have recently noticed
a big increase in what I thought were petechiae all over my body, but specifically on my New Girls…
    However, the dermatologist calls them
hemangiomas… I do hope you get to see
your MO before July! Beautiful sunset pics….

    Smellin’
fantastic, Cammi! Nudge, nudge, wink, wink….

    Chevy
    – great post about what we CAN control, and what we CAN’T. Kind of like the
Serenity Prayer… sure takes the pressure off when we realize we’re not the boss
of the Universe… (well, except for ME, sometimes…) Oh, the geese…. We have tons
of Canada geese around here (lots of ponding basins, lots of babies). One day
we were driving near a park, and a mama goose was leading about a dozen babies
across a busy intersection. Another adult goose brought up the rear. What was
so amazing was that EVERY CAR going in all directions stopped and waited until
the little family was safely on the grass again.

    Spookiesmom
    –

    FierceBlueBird
    – It’s always worth investigating Medicaid. I used it when I was working full
time and not making enough to cover bills. I had a share of cost every month,
but it sure allowed me to get some treatment I desperately needed. Praying for
    a soft landing for you.

    Nettie
    – gentle hugs!

    Blondiex46
    – thinking of you!!!

    4sewwhat
    – that Grandpa & Grandma story reminded me of a story my grandma told me
when I was a young woman. She actually married for the second time when she and
my step-grandpa (whom she had known for years) were in their 80’s. She didn’t
mind marriage too much, she said – she had been divorced for nearly 40 years –
but when Grandpa came into her room at night and wanted to get frisky, she said
it took him so long, she got so bored all she wanted was a magazine to read.
(OMG!!!! I couldn’t believe she told me that! It was a long time before I could
look Grandpa in the eye. EWW!)

2TA – Cat Selfies!!! Hey, did you see the viral video of the dog who attacked a little boy on his bike, and then the boys’s cat came running and kicked the chit out of the dog, then chased him off? Love the pic of Mouse Butt. I am thinking of you and hoping to hear from you soon…

Teka – thanks for always being up early with a huge variety of coffee…

Sassypants – glad you got to veg for a few days… and good on you for the referral to Moffitt..

    Smaarty – a custom-made bra… brilliant!!!! (And pretty, too!)

Susan3 – gentle hugs for you and DH. With my hubby, we somehow managed to schedule our ailments at alternating times. Love the peacock pic… very similar to one in my MO’s office. I got some peacock fabric on a trip to Pacific Grove… I may just make her a lap quilt for being so awesome.

HoleInOne – the Butterfly Release was wonderful. We were out at a private resort on a lake, in the shade, in the evening, with a cool breeze blowing. There was a short presentation, then everyone released their butterflies at the same time. They were actually quite active, flying off and landing on people. I had a Monarch on my shoulder that the photographer got a shot of. I took it off and put it on the finger of a little girl behind me. No butterfly mass carnage!!! Woot!

DutchIris – that’s one of my favorite pics and phrases!

Pawprint – Sorry about Annie Mae’s surgery being postponed… I know you want to be on the other side of it so you can bring her home and cuddle her into recuperation….

Ziggy –As FBB mentioned, I have the asparagus-pee-smelling gene. Wish I didn’t.

Hi to Chabba, MostlyMom, Wren, PhGraham, badger, and anyone else I missed!

I am LOVING all the pics y’all are posting. Keep ‘em coming!

BIG PRAYERS FOR ALL OUR OWLETTES WHO LIVE IN THE FIRE DANGER AREA IN SOCAL!!!

    My
girlfriend lives in Carlsbad, and today her FB page was going a mile a minute
as new fires popped up everywhere. She is very involved in Therapy/Crisis Dog
organizations, and was busy making sure everyone who got evacuated had
somewhere to take their animals. What a mess down there…. I also have friends
in Oceanside. Need to call and check on them.

    Butterfly
release last night was beautiful and meaningful.
Gorgeous setting on a private lake retreat, wonderful program, AND one
of my good friends was a speaker, having taken care of BOTH her elderly parents
with Alzheimers for years. We had a good catch-up visit while DH and FIL took a
boat ride around the beautiful lake.

All the butterflies seem to have survived, as the weather was cool and beautiful. Once released, they took off everywhere into the trees and flowers. One landed on my shoulder and just stayed there. I took it off and gave it to a little girl behind me.

I'm so happy to know I have the "pee-gene!"  I think that is something we all need, right?    At least I know there is nothing wrong with my sniffer...

JWow!  I found your "condition".... I had never heard of that before!  I read it can be caused by a lot of things.... meds included.... so maybe, hopefully, it is only temporary!

I'm off to take a shower!  Thought I had better broadcast this....  so Cammi won't beat me to it!   Ta-ta!
