ooooh... Me too! Love all the mosses too! Cool pic!
-
does anyone know what this is...it was in one of my many piles of pix
-
this one too???
-
The first one has me stumped, but it doesn't look like a bird found in North America. It has the look of an African stork or heron.
Second is a white throated or channel billed toucan. Also not native but in the pet trade.
-
With FBB's clue, I looked at African storks. It could be a yellow-billed stork. Or something closely related. There was a very similar photo taken in the Prague Zoo. The photos in the wild were in Tanzania.
FBB, I think it's so cool you know all these birds. Did you work in the field?
-
no, just my biologist training and ornithology classes. I am a bit bird crazy! But not to be confused with a crazy birder who goes out and tries to see and identify as many species as possible. They just get on my nerves. LoL! My brother flies and drives all over the country adding to his life list of birds. I just really love birds.
-
I have just become interested in birds..looking at them and trying to get photos..
always something new around the corner...I love that you all know so much.
-
me too, but dont seem to get many interesting birds into the yard. Once or twice a year I have to pull out the guide book to help me identify one. But my last license plate was: brd fedr

sulphur crested Cockatoo

Wille Wagtail

Whistling Kite
-
La Sagra Flycatcher
-
wow,,every time I see one of his photos I am awed
-
me too. Those flight photos are amazing!
-
I think you could do a horror movie with the whistling kite as the monster. It just looks ominous to me.
-
Did you notice the Kite is carrying a bone
-
I do now, such lovely photos!
-
-
Daughter and I loved watching the seaside birds while we were beach walking in Myrtle Beach!
-
-
these aren't very clear but;;;
-
no birds this morning just flowers..
-
Lovely!
-
We went to see an art exhibit this morning and when we were finished walked over to the Botanical Garden next door. They were having an orchid show there. Lucky Us.
-
So many lovely varieties of orchids.
Lucky, is right!

Last year 2 flickers got on light poles about 1 block apart and made a huge racket trying to attract females. The whole neighborhood was grateful when they stopped.
-
-
Today, approaching dusk, I was able to see an indigo bunting at the seed feeders!
