    Dress shopping with the girls is the best, Mrs. M!  Something I really miss from the US; I don't have shopping buddies here.  But I did have a great time over the past few days on a business trip as I got to see friends, eat great food, and stay at my friend's beautiful house.

    Thanks to premed steroids I finally had a fun day on Friday.  My grandson was here and my sister who told him that grandma used to be  be able to stand on her head.  So I had to show him I still could!  And I did...for a second anyway!  And then we did backward and forward somersaults which he was very good at!  And we played a game in the dark that Kyle brought over.  Ghost shooter!  Ghosts appear on the wall at random places and you have to shoot them quickly with a gun.  Kyle scored 11 Auntie Leslie 5 and Grandma only 3 but it was fun anyway!

    Aw! What a little cutie he is. I'm so glad you're having fun with him and jealous that you can do a headstand, even if only for a second.

    Every year the flagship store of Macy's has a flower show. The whole first floor and the front windows have incredible floral displays Went over there this morning. Thought I'd share a coupe of snap shots

    Wow, chutzpah, those are breathtaking!  I've been in that Macy's a couple years ago when DH and I took a weekend trip to NYC.  We took the elevators to the top (I think it's the furniture floor). I loved that the escalator goes from new to the older wooden one the further up you go.  Would love to return to see windows like these!

    Those Macy's pics bring back many memories. As a kid, it was my favorite dept. store, though we more often shopped at the now defunct Alexander's on Fordham Rd. Younger dd and I are off on our California Coastal cruise tomorrow.  Lots of errands, laundry and packing. Talk to you all when I return. Have a peaceful week and happy Pesach and Easter to all.

    One last comment before I go. I was out running errands and decided to pop into Marshall's (a great "thrill of the hunt" kind of store). I found a beautiful long black cotton jersey dress that can be casual or dressed up with accessories. The neckline is a circular band that is gathered in front and back, so it's very cut in at the shoulders (sleeveless). Because it's cut in so far, my port shows. For a few minutes, I considered not getting it, though I loved it in every other way. Then I realized, I don't care! This lovely dress is now mine and who cares if my port shows. I feel great in it and will enjoy every second of wearing it.

    Oh my how I remember Macy's. The round one (in Queens) was down the block from our apt bldg. I remember the first few nights it was open the traffic noises were so awful my father said he was considering moving! Fortunately things quieted down as people got use to the "weirdness" of the bldg.

    I also miss Alexander's! There were never any better bargains than Alexander's bargains, that's for sure. 

    I still remember Jahn's, too. They gave a free ice cream sundae on your birthday!

    Tomorrow I'm leaving for northern California to visit my son and his new wife. I haven't seen them since Christmas and I'm really excited.  I'll be driving up with my good friend who also happens to be his mother-in-law, lol, and we'll stay for a couple of nights, take son and DIL to dinner, visit, and then drive home. It will be short but very fun!

    I'm jealous of Caryn with her cruises and others who get to travel. I went all the way to Hackensack for an activity over at Gilda's club today

    Here is a photo of the place. The weather is gorgeous today and you can see the daffodils are up.

    Here is another photo from Hackensack. Bergen County has blue laws which means that malls and lots of shops are closed on Sundays. Seems that Home Depot keeps there shopping carts in the parking lot on Sundays

    Jill, congratulations on the grandchild news!

    chutzpah, I wish I had a Gilda's club closer to where I live.  They have them in Pittsburgh where I doctor, but I don't want to travel and hour to get to a meeting.

    Interesting about the blue laws, I didn't know there were laws like that still in place, I thought malls everywhere were open Sunday.  

    We had a luncheon at work today to celebrate the upcoming weddings of three co-workers.  One is a young gal, but two are older and getting remarried and it's nice to see them moving forward in their lives.  We all brought a covered dish so there was lots of great food.  One of the women decorated the small teacher's lounge so simply yet elegantly it really set the tone.

    I love that song. It was played at my sister's funeral (Jeff Buckley version ) and I 'd like it played at mine (Loudon Wainwright version). Much lovelier to hear it at a wedding!

    The cruise has been wonderful. Today we rented bikes in San Diego and cruised around for a few hours. Tomorrow we'll be in Santa Barbara. Hope everyone is well.

    missed so much here.. been reading on & on… :) so glad we all get to enjoy bits in this crazy world.. still..

    The other night DS during a nervous breakdown on his coming up flight plans with dad to the UK in two weeks, actually a holiday for him!!, said " I don't want to die with the last memories of my friends at school bullying me at school!" so I took him to my fave place, as many of you already know, and spent the day playing with him outdoors, instead of sending him to school.. took many photos (of course :)  ) and he was so happy.. 

    He called me nuts at some point, not being a typical mom who insists her child never misses day of school.. :) little does he know.. and so little (9) he still is.. I am happy to be spending more time wit him, trying to teach him enjoy more of his life, not just stuck to his duties & stuff all the time.. He IS happy. 

    Btw, he had been sad for  while, that Turkiye / İstanbul wasn't as popular as other countries & cities travel wise.. I was very happy to share two articles one from the UK, the other from the US saying Turkiye is among the top 10 travel destinations in the world as of 2014 & that Istanbul has been selected 1st by a travel site. Interesting that this news made him happier than a new remote car, or a new game downloaded to his iPad.. :)

    Tonight at 20:45 DH called from work, reminding us we had our concert tickets for The Piano Guys.. DS was already in his pyjamas, I was stuck with tech stuff, as wanted to make a clip for Teri.. anyway, we were up and ready in 5 minutes and just missed 13 minutes of the concert. Miracle that is, believe me. Traffic in Istanbul, especially on Friday & the concert hall is at least half a drive.. ha! lucky we were.. And such nice guys.. I already have been enjoying their music on youtube for sometime.. Their show onstage was simply awesome. DS was so happy watching them, and me more happy to see his smiling face..
