Doc said the increased pain is probably tumor flare combined with aromasin.  Apparently aromasin and the new drug do interact and cause more pain than either separately.

Yay, yay, yay and more yay.  E -- I often feel  pain is a bit more tolerable if you know why......so glad to hear the explanation your Doc gave.  I think that little tid-bit made a lot of people feel just a bit more comfortable.

Storms last night and today.  They could get "nasty" later on.  This is true spring really.  Weatherman had been saying that we were undergoing some lack of moisture which it sounds like this storm will  definitely make up for.  Just be glad to get it done and have some sun.

    Good Afternoon Ladies!

Enjoyful ... what wonderful news!  Stable is awesome!  I am sorry to hear about the increased pain, but tumor flare is a good thing.  Kill those bastards!!  I hope the doctor is managing the increase in your pain.

Jackie ... lovely day here today.  Cooler than yesterday with just a few sprinkles this morning.  I didn't mind it as I had a bunch of work to transcribe.  Now I am finally going to get these floors cleaned up after all the snow and mud!

    hugs,

Dance around the stable girls, great news.

We are gearing up for the Royal visit. Kate, William and baby George arrive over the weekend. Country going mad. We are still quite loyal to the monarchy here. Most have the attitude why change the system of it works.

    I must get dressed.

Alyson, you are so right.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  Thinking here of the infamous Ted Cruz.  He has a book deal which one of the news programs says is rather standard behavior for someone who might want to run for Pres.  Chuckle - Chuckle.  He tried quite hard to shut down the government which was not broke --- and earned the ire of nearly everyone and many in his own party.  Single-handedly racked the Repug party almost to bits.  As my dad would say --- a whole gamut of people not smart enough to pour pi** out of a new boot.  Tsk. Tsk.

Hi ladies - I've been unbelievably busy this week and so today is my first login in over a week, I believe.

Chickadee, you are without a doubt one of the bravest and most calm ladies I've ever had the intense pleasure of knowing.  I am terribly sad for all of us who are your admirers, friends and family.  May you have peaceful and painfree days, and the knowledge that you are well and deeply loved.

E - so VERY glad to hear that you are stable.  Sorry about the additional pain, but I'm certain that that trade-off is worth it.

Suzie - glad your results were good, sorry that you are still a bit on tenterhooks for another 6 months.

As for me... I was called and asked to work for a week at my old job, as they have a "hiring freeze" and so cannot fill my (old) position right now - the lone guy who is now doing what he used to do plus what I used to do needed a vacation.  So... I've been working this week.  It's been very odd.  It will, however, pay for 1/2 of our new couch.  :)

Folks commented above in regards to the landslide.  The site was NE of Seattle.  There are all kinds of rumors about reports that were prepared in the past about the stability of the area and though there may well have been those reports, the same report could probably be written for much of Western Washington - and most people want to build where they want to build.  I can just imagine what people would say if they were told they could not build on their property because it was considered to be potentially unstable.  There would be a hue and cry about "government overreach".  There just doesn't seem to be any way to win for the poor inspectors.

I am somewhat familiar with the location of this slide, as many years ago I lived not far from there.  The fact is that Western Washington is a place of hills, mountains, rivers and rain - this year (and especially the month of March - the wettest on record) a LOT of rain.  Landslides are not uncommon.  A few years ago, there was an equally large landslide just the other side of one of our mountain passes.  The difference was that no one was injured because there were no houses right there.  However, the highway was demolished.  Since the landslide last weekend train service was halted into the city from the North, due to - yes - landslides - and that is a regular occurence.  It happens at least twice each winter - usually more often. There was a landslide inside the city of Seattle a year or two ago that killed at least one person who was caught in the path. The terrible tragedy is that last weekend's landslide was both huge AND occurred in a populated area.

Thank all of you ladies about your wonderful stories regarding death.  I have never made contact with anyone, but am of the enduring opinion that this is not all there is.  It seems like just the beginning - never the end.

We are going to Hawaii on Sunday.  I am SO much looking forward to seeing our grandkids.  Unfortunately, our son contracted strep throat, but is now on medication, so should have it well under control (and non-contagious) by the time we arrive.  We are only spending a week on Oahu, and then off to Kona for rest and relaxation (and maybe a touch of shopping for a condo).

OK.  I've run off at the fingers enough for now.  I love you all.  Take good care of yourselves!!

Yeah E, dancing with Stable Boy..whoooo, hooo.....fantastic news!  Can't remember how long you've been taking an AI, sorry about the pain increased by combination, sometimes our bodies kinda get used to the AI over time, less pain.  Here's hoping that's true for you too.

GG - Hawaii & grandbabies - what a wonderful combination.  Please smell some plumeria for me.  A friend said we can buy "starts" of it, will have to check into that...

Yes, you can buy a start for plumeria.  It's this really ugly looking stick that you just are supposed to stick into some dirt and watch it grow.  Since I didn't believe the directions, I tried my own thing and never got it to start...  Maybe I'll buy another one and follow the rules this time.  No - I guess I won't.  Forgot, cannot have house plants any longer as hubby's allergies cannot abide them.  :(  I have, however, been beginning (a very small beginning, but still) landscaping our yard.  We have now removed 3 trees and lots and lots of lithodora

Anyway, I've planted a LOT of thyme, oregano, rosemary, monarda (bee balm), lemon balm, a few pots of spearmint and orange mint (can't have them running amok), as well as a fair number of succulents (more to come on those) - more herbs to come as well.  My next step (when we get back) will be adding a path along the side of our house.  Right now it's grass and VERY wet (ugh).  So I'm going to convert it to gravel with a french drain (I think we'll hire someone to do the french drain part....).  Anyway, it will (hopefully) be my first step in removing the grass that currently exists in our backyard and putting in a yard that is pleasant and peaceful (a fountain will be coming sometime in the not too distant future).

Oh yeah - I also planted chives, rhubarb and three different kinds of raspberries (if they grow).  Strawberries, grapes and boysenberries still to come.....

GG...I wish to come live in your yard --- even if it does not all grow.  Still sounds like plenty.  Such a sensible thing to do.  Some friends ( thank goodness they are ) bought a an acre and a half not far from us.  It is specifically for a garden.  We both have the same problem here at the lake......way too much shade in our rather large 2 acre yards to have a garden.  My old ( passed down to me from my Mom ) big Sears rototiller has been just 'vegetating' for a long while.  So, I donated it to the project and my friends are thrilled.

I'm anxious as we so enjoyed the garden at our first house 3 blocks from here as the crow flies.  It did not have a big area, but sufficient for two to four people.  We lived there about five years and have been in this spot for about 11 or so.  So that is how long the "tiller" has been idle.  It will be fantastic to feast on fresh home grown veggies again.  We did have some last year from my cousin.....but better yet to just zip over to our own planted garden plot.

I'll have to find my recipe for green tomato relish.....a good way to use up some of the late tomatoes that don't ripen.  Once made up, it just goes in a gallon jar in your fridge.  So, no real canning.

mmmmh - love green tomato relish. Haven't had any for years! I do make relish most years, though.  Relish, salsa, pickled green beans and of course smoked salmon are my standard canning ventures each year.

I'm looking forward to having a bit of a vegetable garden this year.  Mostly, though, I just want no grass as it has always seemed such a ridiculous waste of water and time... so more looking for peaceful contemplation with a bit of munching thrown in.  U.fortunately hubby is convinced that grass must remain in the front yard, so there I'll just reduce it

Sunny, I took Arimidex for four years before it failed me in August 2012.  I had symptoms similar to those I have now, but the current ones are worse.  My hands are painful claws in the morning, I can barely walk because my feet and ankles hurt so much, and my hip and shoulder joints ache.  Then there's the bone pain from the cancer...My entire spine, skull, right femur, ribs.

Exercise helps the AI related pain but only drugs help the other.  I'm not complaining TOO much because it's just part of the process and there's nothing to be done but bear it.

Oh, E, Ye Olde Arimidex Claws, yuck, I remember those.  The only thing which helped me was seeing a physical therapist who specialized in hands ( yup, they exist) and she was wonderful, gave me excellent exercises,  I wore wrist splints all day/night for a few years.

As long a the pain meds deal with the bone pain, wonder  if massage, physical therapy, and my old standby acupuncture would help the AI component?

So, so, so sorry you're in pain....

E - I might a bit of a petrie dish for the AI's.  I started in August 2012 and felt like a 90 year old woman.  Had to wear wrist splints at night, trigger fingers, etc.  In December 2012 I changed my diet - lots of green drinks and anti-inflammatory foods (salmon), no sodium, no wheat, nothing processed.  Maybe it was coincidence, but things got better after that (though I can't remember the time interval).  The only reason I think it might be my diet, and not just "getting use to the drug," is that I fell off the wagon foodwise in the last few months and all of a sudden my hands are swelling up again and my shoulder is giving me problems.  Not as bad as I was, but going backwards.

Ofcourse, who really wants to give up the fun things to eat. :(

Well, I would not give up the really fun things and though it feels a bit weird to plan your 'cheats' and not be much more spontaneous, I think there is  a point where you can have what you want.....just not as often.

Anyway, E, here's hoping that maybe you can find a good place where you can 'cheat' a bit and still be fine.

I'm sure somewhere in there is that moderation in everything advice which never goes out of date so hopefully, timing along with some "cheating" moderation could work well.

    Hi Friends,

Geez .. I don't think I could stay on a nutritional diet.  I would be so hungry.  I made a run up to the chocolate store in Roanoke on Wednesday.  I'm proud of myself cause I only ate 5 malted milk balls over the past two days.  I'm so glad I didn't buy any to bring home.  I raided the stash I got for KK's hubby and only took five home.  The chocolates I got for the boys and my DIL are so tempting.  Thank goodness I had the clerk gift wrap them ... this way I can't open the package!

I had the worst night terror last night that I have ever had.  And I have had some doozies over the past few years.  I must have been hallucinating or something because I really did see a bad man.  I just kept screaming for Tank.  Was so very tired when I got up this morning.

Enjoyful ... I am really sorry to hear about how bad our pain is ... can you get some long-acting strong pain meds to use on a regular basis, along with the regular kind?  Pain just zaps so much of your energy, mental state and well-being.

Kam ... That is wonderful that you could stay on such a healthy diet and that it helped your pain.

    hugs,

    Bren

E - how is Sampson - you haven't mentioned him for ages.

I had an interesting night last night. Steve took me to his boxing gym for a fight night. Of course I didn't want to go because we missed having a proper dinner, but I actually enjoyed it. I certainly didn't expect to see blood, but there was a fair bit. These guys were amateurs and there were even 2 girls fighting. They all only fought for 3 rounds and they had 10 fights. I found my self cheering for my favourites in the end. Going to this gym has been so good for him, but he will never fight - he goes mainly for personal training sessions. I was surprised to see how many people were there - lots of kiwis as it is owned by kiwis, so I fitted right in.

Suzie - gladyou had fun at your fight night.  Happy

In regards to these awful AI's - I have found that two (OK, maybe three) things help (me).  Number one is getting enough SLEEP, that my body seems to crave since I've started them.  I feel best if I get a minimum of 10 hours a night.  (One of the reasons I retired... I couldn't get the sleep I seemed to need and still hold down a full time job plus commute time.)  The second thing is (as Sunny said) watching my diet.  I try to stay away from gluten and from pork.  Still get to eat chocolate so am happy.  Exercise (as you said, E) is also a helpful in reducing the pain.

Just got back from a second cortisone epidural for my sciatica. Hope this does the trick. The first one was about a month ago and completely fixed my left leg. But the right one has always been the worst and has been giving me hell lately.

GG - I never thought I would do that - I did try to get out of it. I told Steve he has to get up early tomorrow and come to the markets with me to pay me back Loopy although I couldn't afford it - he would want to eat everything in sight.
