Meant to say, yes, bren, it is quiet....always wonder if something's wrong, hope all is well out there.

wow, blue, wonder what those are? Almost look like an unripe blueberry? definitely on a tree or bush...
Broken record - IT IS SO COLD. The wind is HOWLING, and the temp. is nearing 5 degrees, can't imagine how cold that it with this wind. More like January, than almost April. At least we missed the HUGE snow happening in farther east MA.
-
Stay warm, Sun. We missed the bullet on the storm here in Jersey. While it's been cold for the time of year, nothing like what you've got. Crazy stuff.

Enjoyful: THIS NEEDS TO BE A THING
You got that right. Got mesmerized by the ad that announced the video. So enjoyed them both.

Hi Gals,
Continues to be cold here with rain forecast for all day Friday and Saturday. Crapola. I've got to drive 2 1/2 hours to NC to pick up Tim on Saturday. Hate driving that far in the rain.
Enjoyful ... Loved the video. Laughed my butt off!
Sunnyflowers ... I feel for you ... that is really damn cold. Last year in March, we were already starting to plant our flower beds. Now we have to wait for all the snow to melt again.
Blue ... Not sure what those flowers are ... maybe some kind of fruit?
hugs to all,
Bren

Can't remember what they are called....fairy something or other.
E that was so funny and so true. Still can't understand those idjuts!
I've been busy visiting the grandkids so not on much, but am doing OK....just tired!
-
Could this be Mr.T in a few years?

The flower is called "Fairy Pot".
-
I hope our Lioness was there to welcome the lion family from the Denmark zoo.
-
E - I'm wondering how they made that video so realistic! I signed the petition at Climatenamechange.org. I've always wondered how those who have the name Katrina feel about that connection. Wouldn't be nice.
-
pip - I was thinking the same thing when I heard what the zoo did.
Why couldn't they have released them into some place where they naturally live?
E - that is a fabulous video, emailing it now.
-
E...brilliant idea in that video!
Sunny....I was also wondering if these were the same lions that they fed the giraffe to. Ironic...
-
I am in a rage about that Copenhagen zoo! Have signed at least 2 petitions to shut it down. Horrifying thing is that this kind of killing does not seem unusual in zoos. I never go to circuses or marine theme parks, because I do not believe in enslaving highly intelligent and sentient beings, particularly orcas, dolphins and elephants, then making them perform for human entertainment (usually through instruments, physical or psychological) of torture. But I have had much more ambivalent feelings about SOME zoos. Now I have to rethink that position. I need to learn more. The only kind of wild animal captivity I completely approve of is a well run sanctuary for animals too young, old or disabled to function in the wild.
-
To all that was said about the zoos and how animals ( very sentient ) should be handled and treated. Also in agreement with a home for those who are aged. How despicable to participate in the Dutch zoo activities.

Was just reading and heard on the news again this a.m. CHRISTIE has been cleared. How fantastic. Now if it were as credible as it has been made to sound. No one seems to have mentioned to him that he has way more problems to overcome than just his own Bridgegate scandal. On the same page I was reading ( different article ) was a Repug talking about how he would get rid of the ACA....and why, because people are too ignorant to understand it.
I'm sure they understand not having any Ins. at all and this guy says it wouldn't have as many bells and whistles. Hmmm, just why your in the loser's corner and bound to stay there. Some times it seems to be the hardest thing for the Repug side to understand that insulting people will never win you votes. How sad on the one hand because we are so in need of two viable sides. Yes, I do know that the Left makes the same mistake. It is just a bit more critical on the other side right now.

I see several of you referring to the "zoo" topic, but I must have missed the first post. Can someone direct me to it?
Winter has finally arrived here - though just rain, which states how mild we are having it compared to our usual snowy ~ 10-30 degree winter is. It's 45 and raining and I'm cold!! It's been a nice winter living as if we were in Tuscon, AZ - as my friend says, "so this is how the other 1/2 lives."
My babies are doing well together. They play well, and respectively, with each other. Emma has stopped her mourning for Ms Boo - no persistent meows, but I think her asthma is bothering her today. Both seem under the weather today, but otherwise all is well and I feel blessed to have a very balanced and polite new kitten, except for the diarrhea and occasional vomiting (he is under Vet care with special food). My luck with cats - great personalities, poor constitutions.

(once again, can't copy/paste, post a link with a Mac, so above typed in and could have a typo)
Above is a perfect example of how they can't defend their anti Obamacare positions with facts, so they divert with lies and victimization. Koch funded group - Americans for Prosperity, Jennifer Stefano, woefully tries to present the anti-Obamacare position. She thinks families making $94,000 qualify for Medicaid, amongest other folderol. Really, is this out of touch they are? Or do they lie on purpose because their sheep believe this stuff?
As far as Christie - he had to have an innocent verdict just in time for his meeting with the Rich Who Decide Which Republicans will Get their Millions To Run for POTUS meeting in Las Vegas this weekend.
-
I watched that segment, Kam. She reminded me of a squirrel in a blender. She was lying and she absolutely knew it. At her level in the Koch organizational hierarchy, she is one of the ones who makes up their lying talking points. Her technique - talking over the host, talking fast, talking loudly, making rapid-fire false assertions - is a right-wing tactic called the "Gish gallop." They run on, refuse to allow anyone else to speak, spew outrageous lies by the bucketful and refuse to allow anyone to correct them, and generally behave so appallingly rudely (like that crazy idiot) that they are impossible to have a reasoned conversation with. I think that programmers should refuse to have her on an respectable show again. Let her do her fake RWNJ really bad imitation of Emily Litella in the rightwing media cesspool where she belongs.

Kam's segment video
I'm on a mac laptop, may be a bco issue with mobile devices?
-
Sunny, I have a MacAir and wonder how you manage to insert links. Can you take me through it, step by step? I've tried umpteen different ways and nothing works for me.

Just another flim-flam man --- only this one has lipstick and a HUGE smile, but a crook in sheep's clothing is still a crook. Lie, cheat, steal the truth and get paid for it. How sweet it must be. Well, thanks, but I don't believe I want the karma from any of that. I'll never quite understand why any female wants to come off like Louie the Lumberjack which is something akin to the impression I got last night when I saw that piece on t.v.

What I've been reading is that the report clearing Christie of any wrongdoing was actually written by Christie's attorneys -- is that the way things are done now???
-
c4c, it is in the circles the FatMan lives in. The Federal gov is doing the REAL investigation. And I'm betting $ that a wise women tells the truth, even tho she wrote the originating memo, ain't NO WAY someone at her level does it without THE BOSS ( and I don't mean Bruce) knowing about it.
Meanwhile, Sheldon Adelman ( can you believe the color of the comb over, he MUST use Tang) is talking to other "moderate" candidates to get his gambling money. Supposedly spent something like 92 mil in 2012, and including his total funding of Newt didn't get anything for his $.
-
Morning Gals,
We've got what we used to call in San Diego "June Gloom." Heavy fog and mild temps. Monday is when we climb back into the 70's. Yay! Spring is finally coming.
Tim will be home late today. He's been gone over two weeks this time. I was getting kind of lonely by yesterday, so I took a drive to Danville. I spent a grand total of $25 and got two cardigans for summer and a half dozen colored pencils. Those JCP coupons are great!
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
hugs,
Bren

Here's what I love about the Christie report - the same attorneys he hired to defend him in any investigation by the US attorney are the same attorneys who wrote the report. It would be like me representing a criminal and then having the court pay me to interview the people who knew least about the crime and then issue a report clearing my client.
I am wondering whether this is an ethics violation. Sure seems to be to me. Hmmm. Maybe I'll call the Attorney Ethics Board for the state of New Jersey - just to ask.
Anyway, Jim will be retired as of the end of this week. I have officially retired as an attorney - but am continuing to write - which will hopefully be my second - third? - act.
-
good morning! Was planning to go to my granddaughter's soccer game but we have the same weather Brenda is experiencing and all games are cancelled. Will be heading to the beach this weekend to do some spring cleaning. My husband is working on a proposal and I need to get away!! Watching the nes this week has been so upsetting. Just can't believe the mudslide in Washington and how many families have been affected. It's so hard to believe something of that magnitude could occur with no warning. Hope everyone has a good weekend. I can take the rain as long as it's getting warmer outside!! Glenna
-
Thought I'd share this as we had a discussion earlier going on Indian heritage and culture,
We are all flowers in the Great Spirit's garden. We share a common root,
and the root is Mother Earth. The garden is beautiful
because it has different colors in it, and those colors
represent different traditions and cultural backgrounds.
Grandfather David Monongye (Hopi)Our weather -- it rained during the night but should be dry today and even sun later. Sure hope so. I can deal with almost all weather if I can get a few hours of sun.
Glenna, I think as some years previous there was a report stating the instability of the hill in Washington, I guess people were suppose to KNOW and heed. I personally think they do not issue enough information or warnings. We watched a hillside community come down now far from us when we lived in Ventura, California. There was even a banana plantation on part of it. Despite a small portion coming down a few years earlier.....due to the plantation and the beauty of the coastline....people stayed there. After the later mudslide....the whole town was condemned.
