    Good Morning Friends,

Going to be lovely today and tomorrow ... 70 degrees!  Yay!  Except they are calling for more snow on Monday.  What the heck is going on with this weather!!

Kam ... Your escapades with the new kitten are cracking me up.  I had forgotten how funny little kittens can be.  When we had little kittens a long time ago, they used to crawl up our arms and sit on our shoulders with their heads under our chins.  They just loved to get close to you.

Been thinking about Chickadee ... I don't think there has been an update from her in a while.  I hope she's okay and home from the hospital.

I saw on the other forum where Barb's doctors have advised her to wait and watch and will re-scan in 8 weeks to see if there has been a change in the lymph nodes.  Hoping so much it's just an infection and that they get back to normal.

Haven't heard anything back from the doctor that wanted some training in dictation.  I did google him and he looks like a pretty nice guy.  Sure hope I can get him as a client.  Police psych reports would be fun to do.

    Hope everyone enjoys their day,

    Bren

Going to get up to 75 here today ( and normally, we go a bit higher than what is mentioned ) and that was upped from yesterday when they thought 67 would be our tops.  Sometimes I love it when they are wrong.  For us, this is the teaser' part of Spring.....wonderful sunny warm days interspersed with total yuck and often much cooler than I like.  But, at least its Spring.......and the other thing is......at a certain point we have to start worrying about tornadoes etc. which make up our typical Spring.

Kittens are always big time fun.  They are like very small children.......invincible to how twisted and or surprised they can be.  The tumbling, play fighting, sideways prances with back arches that they do.....is pure wild abandonment.   I'm also tickled when the much larger cats let down their "older" fur and play the same way.  I have 'tended' so many kittens through the years that I NEVER feel the need to have one, though the last three or four were rescued.  We are hoping, hoping that no more show up here.  No matter how much you care.......we deserve some life too that doesn't involve animal keeping.

Add my well wishes in for Chick and Barb and hoping that all will be ok with both.

Thinking good thoughts for chick and Barbara.

Bren - hoping for a new client for you.

Kam, good sounding progression on the kitty front.  Sun, I watched the cat video.  Adorable.

They're saying possibility of a really big storm next week.  Hope not.

Alexandria .. We have the same weather report here .. it's going to get cold again with a 50% chance of snow.  Spent two hours working in the yard today.  It felt so wonderful.  I am so pale ... really need a little sunshine!

Jackie .. I dread tornado season too.  The slightest summer storm rolls through and Tim is on the phone hollering at me to get in the basement.

    Morning Everyone!

Blue ... Looking for the "like" button!  I am so tired of winter.  Should be nice today, then it gets cold and snowy again next week.  My daffodils look pretty though.  I'll try to take a picture of them today.

Tim is gone this weekend, so I'm left on my own to work in the yard today.  Going to start up the riding mower and mulch some leaves.  The yard already looks better after I got up all the twigs and broken limbs.

I had another night terror last night.  I wake up so tired after that happens.  I hadn't had one in about 10 days and I was so relieved .. thought they had gone away.  When I told my PCP about them, she suggested journaling.  Maybe I will give that a try.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

    hugs,

    Bren

Cool here today -- compared to the no-coat day yesterday, but no rain or snow.  I think we have awhile.  Was a long day yesterday, but good one.  got new tires on my car and ? whew ?? can quit worrying.  Also had to put the spare on a couple of weeks ago as a front tire bulged.  Had the brakes checked at the same time.  They are ok.............I was feeling so iffy about them......my car is 10 yrs. old.  The mechanic said....it is a bit unusual, but you must not slam on the brakes much.....well, can't recall the last time I did.  He said watching things like that will often extend the life of your brakes and tires.  Good.  I can not spread out repair costs.

I don't think we will get much for snow here now.  Glad of that.....we are moving into the time period when it is way less likely.

I think we only have about a 50-60% chance of snow coming up.  Will probably just rain and make more mud.  But the temps will be dropping again after today.  Not even going to bother mopping with more mud on the way.

I am having a really bad time with all the moles in my yard.  They are tunneling everywhere!  Now the lawn is all uneven and it's going to be a rough ride when mowing starts up.  They are worse this year than ever before.  I guess the damn things like all the soft mud and dirt.

Jackie ... Getting new tires feels good, even though it's hard to spend that much money on your car.  Glad you didn't need breaks.  The tires on our truck were in such bad shape .. replaced them last year.  But since I drive the car now, the wear and tear on the old truck has really gone down.

Sandy ... I feel for you and Blue up there.  It's taking Spring a long time to arrive this year.  I read on Barb's thread this morning that she's going to lay out by the pool today and catch some rays! OMG ... I am so jealous!

Need to get busy .. have lots to do today while the temps are nice.

    hugs,

    Bren

Bren - from where I am, it doesn't count as winter still if you are contemplating mulching anything and you can see daffodils outside!

Blue - is that what the white stuff falling around me is?  Really - on March 22?  What happened to "in like a lion, out like a lamb" - this is a REAL snow storm going on now!  Shudder to think what next week might bring....

    Phuquin' snow is right.

This has been the longest winter, there's so much snow on the ground, all the new white stuff STICKS...

all you who are still getting snowed on....  that's got to really suck.  Here in the NW it was about 50 degrees yesterday, and is due to be about the same today, maybe a touch warmer.  I've started planting a few things, though I've got a LONG ways to go before the yard feels like it's mine.  We are taking 3 trees out on Monday and  then I will have a good spot for grapes.

So far I've planted thyme, sage, rhubarb, lettuce and raspberries.  I have more raspberries and some lemon thyme and chives that I'm hoping to get in the ground today.  This is my first time for raspberries, so if any of you have suggestions, I'm always happy to take them!

Kam, it sounds like your kitten is adjusting well. That's good. Now you can start to relax and enjoy him.

E! Welcome back! It sounds like you had a really grueling drive.  Very stressful. Tell the docs to keep those damn tumor markers DOWN.

Hubby and I have really bad backs, so we decided to sell our couch and buy one with better support.  It had to be ordered so we are hoping both that it comes soon and that it's as comfortable as the one we sat on in the showroom.  It's supposed to be one that chiropractors think well of.  Hope that means something in real life.

We leave for Hawaii in ,2 weeks and I can hardly wait!!

Your snow is our sunshine out west (sorry).  Been in the mid-60's though below freezing at night, as I live in the mountains.  Out planted some kale and collard starts.  Seem to be doing well despite the 30 degree nights.   Daffys are blooming here too.  My helibore has been going strong for a month it seems (I love that plant!).

This morning my cats were playing.  Chasing back and forth seems to be their method.  It doesn't last too long as Emma is fat and has a bad shoulder, but it's fun to hear.  Quinn would like more of everything and very curious about his big sis, but she still warns him off and sometimes swats.   Not only did I have a bad time with Emma and Ms Boo, 2 years of tumult, poor Emma did too - skin and fur everywhere for 2 years, hers.  She's a bit traumatized, so I should expect her to be cautious and not quick to accept, even by a cat 1/5th her size.

I must say for all the consternation I got (not here) for getting a purebred, I'm really impressed.  They must be bred for personality, as this one is a charmer (his mother's name is Charm).  If I even let him play with my hands, his bites are very soft and he doesn't extend his claws.  He wants to please.  He has no fear, but he gives respect.  He's so loving and knows exactly what to do!

Less hissing, more sniffing going on.

gg - my suggestion is to invite us all out to eat raspberries when they grow ;-)

My clump of chives hasn't even sent out one little green shoot  - ground is completely frozen, Attila the Hun couldn't put a trowel in it ;(

    BTW - how's your shoulder?

Lassie .. you crack me up!  Okay .. it's Spring here.  I actually got the riding mower up and running and got rid of the leaves and cleaned up the fields and paths.  It was glorious to be outside.  Then I washed the car.

Kad2kar .. we've got blackberry bushes growing wild all over the place here.  I hate them with a passion.  The berries really don't get too big on them and they are very prickly and stickery.  They snag my clothes and skin when I'm mowing.

Kam .. that is so sweet that Quinn's a charmer.  Wish I could find that picture I saw, as it was the spittin' image of him.

Gumby .. have fun in Hilo!  I'm green with envy!

    hugs,

    Bren

GG, raspberries are the easiest to grow.  As Kad said, just water well and let them be.  Then, in the fall, trim the old canes, to give the new ones room to grow.  And hope that your summers aren't too wet, as raspberries are SO susceptible to mould.

Kam, sorry you've been given a hard time about purebreds.  The thing is, you generally know what you're getting, and yes, reputable breeders breed for personality as well as all things internal and external.   While I totally admire those who rescue kitties and dogs, I'm a little sheepish myself about doing it.

Weather here in Niagara is partly sunny and about 40F.  Expecting another cold "episode" for the next couple of days, due to another type of weather system called an "Alberta Clipper".  Don't you love the names meteorologists come up with?!!  Long-range forecast for this area is a longer and cooler than average summer.  Hmmmm.....we'll see!

Bren, you actually may have only one mole in your yard.....though I know you'd swear its an army of them.  Apparently your ground is very fertile and houses lots of worms, grubs and other small underground wee beasties.  Anyway -- once a mole gets going they can criss-cross and intersperse with rt. and lt. turns.  I've heard of all sorts of fixes -- never found any that worked well.  I'd ask Mr. Google or the nearest 'nursery' for ideas.

Kam....Emma and Quinn are going to do all-right.  I'm glad the worst seems behind you now and hope you are getting a bit more rest.

Hope you all have a great Saturday.

Sandy we got about 1 cm but for me it's 1 cm too much!  It isn't that cold out so it melted but this is one hell of a spring if you ask me.  I was watching Bill Maher last night and his guest speaker was saying we are 60% over what they initially thought the damage would be because of the emissions.  Scary stuff.  Greenland is melting and soon many coastal cities will be underwater.  The assjerks who say it isn't so can kiss my ass!

thanks for the "tips" re raspberries.  I'd love for you all to come share a bowl or two.  I planted one red one, one golden and one black. I don't know if they'll stay true to type or cross pollinate, but whatever.. I love berries so am planning on planting either boysenberry or loganberry, too... maybe another blueberry bush, too.

Sunny, my shoulder hurts much of the time. I'm going to see the surgeon in May, but I've got a lot of reservations about the surgery. The more I read the worse it ssounds....

Addendum to my previous post.  Don't the people that outright defy logic have children or grandchildren?  Are they so selfish as to not care that these children will be put in a precarious position?  That they will have to deal with the fallout of our stupidity?  The smugness is infuriating

So let's be anti-abortion, put as many children on a planet that cannot sustain them, then pollute the earth to the point where WE cause our own extinction, just because we don't want to control emissions.  And where is God in all of this?

The native american never took more than they needed from the land.

Blue, just got home from work.  The Indians were wonderful......you might know it was white 'greedy' men who tainted them so badly, but they had something these people in this life don't --- they saw their mother earth and life as a gift and showed deep respect and taught from the earliest to continue that respect and the love.  Stand them up side by side and it will be easy to spot the savage.

Did I ever tell you guys that Ray is Metis?  Half French, half Ojibway.  Funny how it was OK to make the Indians the bad guys in old Hollywood, but when Hollywood started depicting the truth its a bunch of hogwash!  Some people should get new history books!
